Amazing bar in Kingston! We got the pretzels too as a snack and loved it. Our bartender recommended an awesome gin cocktail called the 20th century which we loved. Definitely recommend the place.

Great place to go for a drink either on a date or with friends. Place is pretty spacious and always has a good crowd. Staff are great even when busy and the drinks are fantastic. Their menu is pretty extensive and imaginative and of the drinks we’ve had they’ve all been great. They do serve snacks and food which we haven’t had but we’ve heard good things!

This is our go to bar every time we visit from Florida. Amazing craft cocktails without the pretentiousness of other craft cocktail bars. Friendly owner/host Paul as well as his staff. Warm chill vibe and eclectic music selection. Also a nice selection of light snacks/finger food. Definitely a must visit when you’re in Kingston.

If you're trying to impress your date, this is your best option in the area. Atmosphere is great, songs weren't atrocious, bartenders know what they're doing. In my case, I was not trying to impress anyone. The negronis were good but also kind of a rip off? 4 negronis and a pretzel came out to $78 before tip. Both rounds we ordered came out missing one of our two drinks, which is not a big deal until the bill shows up. I go to basically the same place in Brooklyn, spend less, and get great service from experienced waitstaff. We'll avoid this place next time we're in Kingston, but options in the area are slim and you might love it!

The perfect cocktail lounge. Warm and welcoming with a well curated menu of house signature drinks. Enjoyed the Adonis very much.

After having some great food and drinks nearby, we got a recommendation to come to Stockade and I’m glad we listened. Love the vibe and had great drinks. My fiancé had the grilled cheese and I had the warm donut and MY OH MY. Deliciousness. Lauren was our bartender and she was great. Good convo and as usual- I always ask the bartender for a recommendation on a drink- she did great! Will definitely go back

Great bar with a cool, cozy vibe and good bar bites. The staff is friendly and quite knowledgeable - ask for a Pharmaceutical if you're looking for an awesome riff on an espresso martini (not currently on the menu). Will be coming back for sure!

Great evening bar - unassuming and not pretentious. I enjoyed their happy hour specials and recommend their horseradish vodka shot. This bar is definitely a local's spot, with minimal signage and pomp. Stockade Tavern is your local watering hole with a Kingston twist. Just bougie enough with divey vibes, don't hesitate to start (or end) your night here.

I was so happy to find this place! Gorgeous, dimly lit and cozy bar with great cocktails to boot. The menu is inventive as the drinks are delicious. They have a happy hour with a house cocktail for $10 and it did not disappoint. The Por Mi Amor slushy...was a little spicy, sweet, but you can also taste the alcohol. Still thinking about that drink. The music was amazing and the staff, more so. We had a great time chatting it up with Paul, the owner, and AJ, the bartender on duty. They made us feel right at home. If you can appreciate a solidly crafted cocktail, come here. They have all the classics, some new ish, and others classics with a modern twist. What a gem in Kingston...it felt like a little slice of NYC.

What an amazing cocktail bar! Bartender was super sweet. Atmosphere reminded me of my favorite bar in NYC Apotheke. This was the best espresso martini ever, rich and creamy.

Exceptional time here. Popped in for a cocktail and some olives. This place has the coziest vibes and the bartender was very nice. I ordered a tiki cocktail ($16) and it really hit the spot. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town.

Let me start off by saying that if I could straight up Superman lift this place off it's foundation and drop it in my backyard I totally would. And my wife wouldn't even be mad at me, because she though it was awesome too. The staff were super friendly and on top of their game on a busy Friday night. The ambiance and decor are exactly what a cocktail bar should be, dimly lit, dark woods everywhere, cool ceiling. I absolutely loved this place. My wife had the Hot Toddy, which she enjoyed so much she ordered a second. I stared out with the Cobra Fang, which was a delicious aged rum cocktail and then asked the bartender to whip me up a creamy dessert cocktail which she absolutely crushed. They have some small bites, which looked pretty good, but we only tried the apple cider donut as a light dessert. It was very good and was exactly what we needed after dinner. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you're a cocktail lover and find yourself in Kingston, you're a fool if you skip this one.

Yeah.... Yep.... Uh huh Just, just go there. Trust me, they do not disappoint. Wonderful place to start ur evening, or end it, or spend it. Do yourself a favor and just go. Get a cocktail and experience what a well crafted cocktail is. Despite being busy, I have never ever had trouble getting a drink or engaging in conversation. It's truly one of the best places to go with a date in Kingston.... Or a friend... or yourself....maybe not ur kids..

July 11, 2024. We went back for our second year in a row. Sadly, their AC was out on a muggy evening but no matter - fans, smiling staff, and GREAT cocktails made life good. Last year we had fresh strawberry slushies to start then amazing inventions from the top-shelf mixologist. This year we picked from the menu and were not disappointed. I've been to lots of fashion-pubs around the country and this one is at the top of my list!

I think the stars aligned for us last night because we happened upon Stockade Tavern and now we have a new favorite "local" bar (uhhh if 45 minutes away is local. I like to pretend it is). Stockade has everything going for it: -dark and dreamy vibes -vintage bar appeal (I love staring at the ceiling) -craft cocktails without an ounce of pretension -a superb Beaujolais by the glass -vegan options for light bites on the menu -expert bartenders who are also personable My husband and I sat at the bar and made an immediate friend, which more of his thing than mine (that is, socializing with strangers at a bar) but hey, if it that's an important criteria for you when bar hopping, come here because I can't say that happens too frequently up here around these parts (we mostly go out in Beacon). Damn, this place makes me happy! It's utterly fucking perfect, if you must know my true feelings. Used to be five stars meant "doesn't get any better than this," and I think that's better than merely "great." So I'm spelling it out for you. We are already planning to go back and you know if people are willing to drive 45 minutes to go to a bar, well, you know it's damn awesome.

Stockade is soooo special. I love the inside, I love the service and I love the drinks. Quality hasn't changed a bit since Kingston has become more and more hip and chic. Hometown hero! The most perfect place for a dimly lit cocktail

One of my top 5 favorite bars in the Hudson Valley! The ambiance is great for a date night or catching up with a friend! small bites and incredible drinks! the kind of place I'd trust the bartender to bring me anything and I know I'd be happy with it! For real- the owner once learned I'm an "anything but gin" drinker and made it his mission to convert me into a gin drinker. And he did!!! Amazing selection! plus any place that is creative enough to think of "paddle shots" during the pandemic is an A+ in my book! Also- best painkillers I've ever had!!!

One of my fave all time cocktail bars. Great after dinner spot in kingston. Wonderful owners. Bartenders are pros, they make great cocktails. Outdoor seating in good weather. Beautiful interior. Fun to chat with folks at the bar.

Stockade Tavern is one a few great places in Kingston to swing by if you're visiting, and if you're looking for the most popping spot in Kingston this is it! It's also located around the corner from the hotel Kingsley so you can definitely do both in one night. Surprisingly, it was packed on a Saturday night after Labor Day. They have a good drink menu set up along with a couple small bites. We enjoyed a couple cocktails here and tried their smoked eggplant baba ghanouj and the pretzel. The pretzel was totally amazing, and super cheap. If you need something to snack on definitely get it.

Everything about this place is five stars. The food, the service, the drinks, the atmosphere, the interior decoration. All on point. Everything was delicious. One of my favorite cocktail bars of all time.

A historical gem! It's a great bar/pub that serves awesome drinks and a great old fashioned! The ambiance makes you think of the days of old when the town pub was the main place to be. We didn't eat here but the selections were good size and priced right. Like this place!!!

We visited Kingston twice last year (such a cool town, it made us wanna move there) and both times, we hit up the Stockade Tavern for pre-dinner cocktails. Seriously, this is one of my top 3 favorite cocktail bars I've ever been to and I'm a cocktail fanatic. Great chill atmosphere, friendly and cool bartenders, and omg what a selection of delicious libations. The first time, my wife had the Peter Rabbit, which featured chamomile-infused vodka and vanilla. Astonishing. Mine (the Brother Bruno) was almost as good. Creamy and green, with chartreuse and pistachio. On our next visit, I sampled the Devil's in the Details (tequila, crema de mezcal, Braulio, calvados, Lillet, Aperol). Sipping it was like an autumn woods walk in a glass. Can't wait to go back next time we are in Kingston.

Small but cozy high end(ish) bar. It's mostly everyone's first stop. A little pricey but I'm sure it's by design to attract "a certain kind of clientele ". Designer drinks are great. Bartenders are always engaging. Parking can be a challenge

I had one beer and a bunch of water one night. The bartender spilled water all over the bar when he tried to top me off, he got super upset with himself over this. When my friend offered to buy me a shot, the bartender said "no you are cut of". Cool, I dont even drink a full beer and I am done? Maybe the bartender should have been cut off.... dont drink on the job. Edit: Paul, your response is a blatant lie. I was not drunk, I was the D.D. That is why I only ordered one light beer and did not finish it. That is also why I told my friend I didn't want a shot right before you said I was cut off. Responding to yelp reviews saying "you were drunk and embarrassing" or "you were drunk and puked in your boyfriend's lap" when people clearly state they have only had one drink, will not negate a poor rating. You are obviously rude in person and online and this will prove to harm your bussiness.

The uniqueness of this place puts them above all in the town of Kingston. A fantastic bar with most interesting cocktails,a very knowledgeable bar and server staff that will go above and beyond for their clientele. They make the most perfect Penicillin without a doubt! The owners are the best! always friendly and greeting their customers with " name recognition " which in the hospitality business is the ultimate important thing to do. Believe the hype! Having read a number of yelp reviews, I was prepared for the worst (overly crowded, all young, hipster crowd) but was pleasantly surprised that the great reviews were all right! We arrived around 6:00 on a Saturday evening; the place was busy but there where plenty of seats available. The space itself is lovely and warm, service could not be more friendly or helpful, and drinks were out of this world. I would go back in a heartbeat, and hope to slowly work through the drink menu. Food that went by looked good too. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

We've dined here with family and friends on many occasions and are yet to be disappointed. Great service, solid menu, the place is a delight. Good choice post a gallery opening or most any other event in the area.

Loved the charm of this place! The original tin ceiling gave the place a warm, historic feel. The staff were friendly and the drinks menu was expansive. We got in a long conversation with our bartender about whiskey and walked away with a new love of Lagavulin Scotch. Highly recommend this cocktail bar.

Great place to have a date. Very intimate, romantic setting. Drinks are phenomenal, crafted nicely, and worth every dollar. Their pretzels and apple cider doughnuts are amazing and a great complement to a nice mixed drink. The owner of the bar is great and tries to talk to everyone sitting at the bar, makes everyone feel welcomed. Will definitely be coming back whenever I'm in the area.

Normally I'm all about guzzling Johnny Bootleggers and dressing like an asshole. However, from time to time, I've been known to swap my old lady jackets for an actual blazer and my gas station booze for a proper cocktail. When I like to pretend I'm a normal, respectable 36 year old adult, this is a great place to do it. Like the other reviews say, Stockade Tavern has a dark, mature, sophisticated vibe with plenty of great cocktails and small snack options. Whenever we are going to a show at BSP we always make time to stop in here for a few drinks. If I lived in Kingston, I'm sure I'd be in here more often.

This is one of the best cocktail bars in the Hudson Valley with great service. I visited after spending the day in the Catskills to treat myself to some delicious cocktails and I wasn't disappointed. Even if you aren't into cocktails it's a good place to go to for a beer.

I ordered a really simple drink because it was early and I really just wanted to sit and check out the place. I became enchanted sitting in this simple but very beautiful room and reading the interesting menu, and watching the bartender pour drinks. I made a vine that is still getting tons of views and retweets a month later. I will return and have a "real" drink as soon and I get a chance. But whoever created this tavern did a great job. I came back (a few time with friends) since the review above. Still is a GEM in Kingston - and in The HUDSON VALLEY. I've ordered a couple of appetizers and they have all been great. Especially the one I'm posting a photo of now.

In town visiting family and my cousin brought me here on a Friday night. Great selection of cocktails, boozy drinks and the menu is extensive!! Cozy little cocktail bar, will definitely be returning! Hope to visit again soon to add more great things to say!

I usually frequent beacon establishments with hipster crowds and tolerate them because they are the rugged stoic type but the employees and patrons at this place are try hards that serve a try hard hipster crowd who grew up with a silver spoon in their mouths( the opposite of bukowski or Kerouac....even burroughs would be ashamed).The hipsters here act like they are on a movie set. I waited one hour for one drink which was delicious then me and my party were totally ignored. As i waited to be served the entertainment provided to me by the try hards sitting at the bar was priceless. I understand it was busy but looking at the reviews it is obvious this is the norm here and this place practices favoritism. I went home and drank cheap malt liquor kerouac style and saved a crap load of money. Hahaha

Always hits the spot from food to drink to atmosphere. I love the schnitzel!! Which changed a bit from the first time I had it to the second and only just got better!!

Stopped by here while walking around Kingston. Was not able to see the inside but they had tons of outdoor seating that is a nice change of pace for the summer. Our server was nice and attentive. Drinks were excellent and reasonably priced. Would definitely come here again to get the drink I got, jungle something.

Nice atmosphere, but be prepared to wait a looonnngggg time to be able to get a drink. Service is rather slow, unless you are a friend of the bartender. Drink was good when I got it. But not sure I will return.

Nick is a talented libation artisan who weilds his shaker like a trained swordsman aiming to please his audience. He can peg your desires like a skilled knife thrower who slices the apple above your head with perfect precision. Don't be scared of this descriptive, ever changing and incredibly diverse and lively vintage menu. Tell them what you love and they will nail it to perfection.

Snooty, ridiculously overpriced. Menu is a joke. If you're over 25, and just want to have a drink with a friend, don't bother, You'll be ignored. Meat market.

Cool-ass spot in uptown Kingston for fancy prohibition style cocktails. It's quite the happening little spot but classy.....you won't find any drunken brawls going on here. They offer live music on the weekends and was recently chosen by Esquire magazine as one of the best bars in America. The atmosphere has a hip, vintage vibe.....if my living room were a bar this is exactly what it would look like. I love the way the large, diamond grid front windows open up to let cool nighttime breezes blow in. Stockade is just a really fun place to come with friends, or come alone and make new friends. All of the cocktails created here are handcrafted, watching the bartender mix up some happy juice is almost as enjoyable as the drink itself. They do change up their menu from time to time to keep it fresh, but there is always a few classics to rely on. Shaken, stirred, built, sparkling, you name it they got it including a nice selection of beers on tap and crafted virgin cocktails, too. If you're hungry they do offer a small tapas-type menu consisting of cheese and meat plates, small sandwiches, etc.; and if you've got a sweet tooth definitely try the fried apple cider doughnut or the chocolate covered corn nuts. Every time I visited this bar, I enjoyed myself....until Friday April 6th. The bartender, whose name I didn't get, was totally rude, smug, and unfriendly. He seemed stressed out, and acted like he didnt want to be there. He didn't give a damn about his customers. I've never experienced anything like that before. Bartenders are supposed to be polite and friendly to customers. He said he had a bad day. He was so bad that my wife and I left right after the first drink. A very nice women, maybe the manager, was apologetic, however someone like him should not be client facing. As we were leaving, he said that when I come back in a month the place will still be here! Imagine that... I don't think I'll be stopping in here again. Ownership should never have hired this guy. Your employees represent you.

I can't say enough about the Stockade! No matter when we have come here, we have experienced exemplary customer service, consistency, ambiance, cleanliness, and a whole lot of fun. From drinks, to appetizers, to plates, and desserts, everything has been mind-blowing, delicious, and flavorful. The old building and view out the window takes you back in time. The owner always takes the time to talk to you and make sure everything is fabulous. The staff are always on top of checking on your table, and everything is very fast. Whenever we are having a date night, meeting a friend, or just hanging out, we won't setting for anything less than the Stockade!

This is absolutely one of the best taverns in the Hudson Valley, and worth visiting no matter how far away in the area you live. Their cocktail list is amazing, it's fun to watch them make your drink and some very beautiful vintage touches all over the interior. On this recent visit I shared a cheese plate with a friend and it was phenomenal; so well put together with the balance of flavor and interesting combinations. Hands down love this place!!
