Stockbridge Eating House - Review - Stockbridge - Edinburgh - The Infatuation

"With its white-walled bistro aesthetic, blackboard menu, and viognier on ice, Stockbridge Eating House very much feels like it comes from theSt. Johnschool of restaurants. It’s a shoebox-sized British-European hangout in Stockbridge that plays Clairo over the speakers and serves an absurdly reasonable set lunch menu to communal tables of 30-something gourmands." - Jake Missing

At £14.95 for the lunch set which includes some nibbly bits, a main, chips and salad, and a dessert, the value is unbelievable without compromising on quality. The chips were perfect, the salad was well dressed and the steak was well seasoned. The seats are a bit uncomfortable and tables are close together/sharing, but that’s part of the vibe. For quality food in an unpretentious environment, this is a great spot.

A very cute place with lovely service. We went there for lunch, and the food was really good, flavorful and nicely presented. On the day we visited (we got the Set Menu), they had a rabbit pie, which was absolutely delicious. A nice touch is the handwritten menu displayed on the board, adding to the cozy atmosphere. Overall, a welcoming spot that’s great for a relaxing meal :)

This will forever be my favorite restaurant in Edinburgh. The vibe is immaculate, every single dish is delicious, it’s fairly priced for quality, and the space feels like home. I’ve gone multiple times for dinner now and have never been disappointed (please get their fries!!), I’m dying to try their lunch menu too. Can not recommend this place enough.

100/10. The welcome, the service, the atmosphere, the wine, the food. Everything was phenomenal. We had wines that were so rare (limited allocation) and so delicious. Get the olives-massive and pickled. The burger and the chicken!!! Omg.

Had one of the best evenings in my solo-dining career with some Champagne, great food with fresh ingredients and some great wine. Felt so welcome in their home style dining room in combination with the lovely service team members who are kindly and lovely at the one hand but professional at the same time. I loved the scallops with blood orange which were so refreshing and the warming bone marrow the most. As i said while visiting: there is a reason why everyone tells you to come here if youre in Edinburgh.

Found this place from TikTok and it was super hyped up as one of the best meals in Edinburgh. It’s definitely a cute restaurant, but was not the best meal we had in the city. We did the pre fix for lunch for £14 per person, and while the food was worth the price, I had higher expectations from the online presence.

A proper lunch done right. We had lamb faggots with peas à la Française and baked ling in mustard cream—both served with beef dripping chips and a sharp little salad. Chocolate mousse to finish was light, rich, and spot on. At £14.95 for three courses, it’s generous, comforting, and full of flavour. No fuss, just good food.

My girlfriend and I came up with this place on social media and didn't hesitate in trying it. We entered in with high expectations and we went out with an even higher impression. We started with the bone marrow, which was supposed to be the highlight of the night and was undoubtly one of the best things. Next, we asked for the eel and mash and the monkfish. The eel, as expected, was great, but the monkfish, God, I had never tried such a great fish. I would have cried if it wasn't because I didn't want to expel any part of this dish not even through my eyes. Finally, we ate the chocolate mousse, which was very good as well. I thought this meal couldn't be improvable whatsoever. However, there they were, the people who run this place. They show kindness through all their body. If we lived there, we would visit this diner every week, I am sure about that. We loved Scotland and specially this place. We'll come back, for sure!!
