Lovely family restaurant. Old school and not fussy. A seat yourself establishment. I posted up by the window in the back to read my book and enjoy a nice meal. I was blown away by the food I got and the incredible price I paid for it. Every bite made me smile. My waitress was lovely. I recommend the red velvet waffle and the grits.

Came for lunch with my team from work. Service for 7 people was perfect. Team members were so friendly and accommodating. Food was good! Tastes like home made grandmas cooking. Tons of places to eat. Very clean. Offers sit down or carry out. Ample parking!

Google
Stockyard is definitely a place worth checking out. First off, they have plenty of parking space, which is always a plus. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted warmly — no seat-yourself policy here, so expect to be seated by the staff. Customer service is excellent — friendly, precise, and efficient. Our food came out quickly, without any long wait. We ordered livermush, grits, scrambled eggs, and a biscuit. The scrambled eggs were especially memorable — they tasted like something straight out of a home kitchen, full of flavor and cooked just right. The livermush was also well-prepared and flavorful. Overall, Stockyard delivers that cozy, homemade feel with top-tier service. It’s a spot everyone should try at least once. I’ll definitely be going back soon to try their lunch menu — I’ll keep you posted!

Don't let the outside fool you because this was absolutely the best breakfast place I've ever been to. I don't make reviews but this place was just that good that I had to. I joked around about the most beat up looking places have the best food but the interior of the restaurant is beautiful and feels like a blast from the past. The service was superb. Coming from a server, they were one of the best servers I've ever seen. Very friendly, extremely helpful and considerate. The menu was eye boggling and the food portions were great. I mean this place had the biggest pancakes I've ever seen. The price is great here too. Quite the hidden treasure that I didn't know we've had in Charlotte.

Went here around 8:39 for breakfast on a Tuesday morning, this place has been completely remodeled and is an historic place in Charlotte. Very nice place to go for breakfast. Tabatha was our waitress. She helped us out with food selections on the menu. We enjoyed her presence. The breakfast here really had a good flavor. We got grits and more. Portions are huge . They loaded our plates. I called the owner over met and shook his hand.(handsome man) I do suggest you try to place at least one time I will be going back. Thanks for the good service ladies. They do have desserts, although I didn’t try any.

This place serves great southern meals. They have plenty of parking for big rigs and work trucks and then they have plenty room for cars. Come get you some great food!

Google
We came for breakfast but missed it by a few minutes. So we had lunch. My hubby had the fried fish with fried okra and sweet potato fries. He liked the fish, but the sides were average. They were probably frozen items that were fried. I on the other hand had the fresh cooked items which were good. Salmon patties, collard greens and skin on mashed potatoes with brown gravy. And corn bread muffins. It was really good. Service was great. The food came out hot and fresh. This was my first visit but will definitely not be the last. My true rating is 4.5 but I'll round up because the overall experience was really good.

ELI AL

Google
The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food came very quickly and I thought it was delicious. The only reason I'm giving it a 4/5 is because for some reason she didn't give me cornbread like all the other tables at first. I kind of left her a nice tip because she was so smiley (I didn't understand why she didn't give me cornbread, but I didn't want to ask her, it's okay). The rest is fine, there are a lot of people but they are fast and fair with the price.

Yelp
First timer. Its in an industrial area and seemed to be a popular spot.lots of people coming and going. It reminded me of sunflower restaurant. Nice down home country cooking. The staff was nice and friendly and we were seated right away. I had the grits with a fried egg and the catfish. Nothing much to say except it was good. If I'm ever in the area again I would stop and have a bite and try other items on the menu.

Yelp
Y'all I will not gate keep! Listen to me-if you live in the Charlotte area and you want some good country cooking whether it's for breakfast or lunch-you gotta go. You can tell the staff have been here forever and so have the customers bc they are normally greeted by name. Or "I haven't seen you in awhile!" Nice clean restaurant with plenty of seating but I could see it being really packed during lunch! My first visit I went for breakfast. Easily the best pancake I have ever had. They give you so much food! The country ham was cooked perfectly. Not too salty and the eggs were real eggs! Iykyk! Had to go back for lunch and just happens to go on a Friday where they have seafood specials. Trust me-get it! I got the spaghetti to go for my grandson and of course I had to taste it and it was also delicious! This is definitely on my rotation when I'm in the area!

Yelp
Stopped in at Stockyard for some breakfast this morning, and really enjoyed my meal! There is plenty of parking, we snagged a spot right by the entrance. Upon entering there was a good crowd of people. You have to wait to be seated, this was a bit confusing I thought you just walked in and grabbed a seat anywhere. We were seated right away by an older gentleman, I preferred to sit at a booth rather than the table and we were able to switch seats just fine! The place is spacious, but nothing special at all. I ordered the fried flounder with cheese grits, a fried egg and that came with a biscuit. The fish was fried to perfection and lightly seasoned which was good because the grits had just the right amount of salt. Everything was fresh and tasty. I really enjoyed my meal and could see myself coming back to try some other items! The cashier was super nice and told me I looked like an Egyptian queen, so kudos to her for great taste! Lol

Yelp
I've only been there once... due to location; but there were lots of seating styles to choose from...high-backed booths or small tables and chairs; some near the counter area and others in different rooms or tucked off in a private corner! Very Quaint! The food we had was very good and more than we (small people) could eat! I would call it the food, "Hometown Hearty"! Our waitress aimed to please ... she knew exactly what she was doing! We went before noon, so that seemed to be a perfect time... as things got busier! The menu was huge! I suggest perusing it online first... to get the most of your hour there!! They kindly suggest you keep it to an hour ( they are fairly popular!). If you're having a good time with your company tho.. don't eat fast and pay the bill when you're leaving! Be sure to tip good.. they do a great job!!

Yelp
The food is excellent and the staff are very professional with a flare of excellence. Give them a try only thing that could go wrong is you'll enjoy yourself and your soul will be pampered.

Yelp
Great place, great people and great food. I wish they were open on Saturday but Monday to Friday gives you many opportunities to try this place out. By the way, service is just as good as the food

Yelp
Great food, excellent service, and affordable prices. A relaxed atmosphere, perfect for groups or solo dining.

Yelp
Love this place even it was my first time stopped by preparing for breakfast but it was lunch time. Parking lot was packed showing it had to be a good place. Yes, it is. An old style American restaurant back in the fifties? Love their food for quality and quantity. Will definitely come back again.

Yelp
Can always count on a quick satisfying meal. Super friendly staff. Best sweet tea hands down.

Yelp
Love love love this place. Staff great food great prices great. Owner is super fine and great eye candy while eating

Jerry C.

Yelp
Amazing food, amazing service. Couldn't have ask for more friendly people. I had the meat lovers omelette with biscuit and gravy and home fries, my wife had the French toast. Neither of us could finish our meals and the waitress brought us both a to go drink without asking. Highly recommend!!

Melissa R.

Yelp
Food was so delicious, fast and affordable! The staff were so kind. Amazing spot for breakfast. Family friendly

Leslie G.

Yelp
We went to Stockyard Tuesday - Election Day. Ordered sweet tea, a breakfast plate - 2 scrambled eggs, bacon, 2 sausage gravy biscuits. My husband and I split a pancake . All of the food was delicious and fresh. The sausage gravy biscuits were especially good. I'm craving one right now as I type this. Service was excellent. Clean restrooms/restaurant.

Sara S.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast and it was OK. The bacon, cheese, and onion omelette was great. Hash browns were just OK. Biscuit was decent. Pancakes were dense and not super flavorful. The server was borderline rude the whole time we were there. Not somewhere I will go back to.
google avatar

Savori S.

Yelp
Only go for breakfast. The food is fresh and hot. However, some items.voild.ise about more seasoning.
google avatar

Mina A.

Yelp
Food was good and hot Customer service is always great and friendly! Usually crowded but that doesn't stop you from being seated quickly Not my type of food. But I went to meet my aunts here and they enjoyed there meal. Simple and good prices. If you are vegan I do not recommend but for everyone else try them out yourself. After you eat you will pay when you leave out at the front desk.

Yelp
"Sometimes you wanna go...where everybody knows your naaame." Love the family/home feel of this place and the food and service are always great.

Yelp
Food is good home cooking and the waitresses are very friendly and helpful. For the last 25 I have worked in Charlotte going by and never going in to eat. Today I finally went in and it was very nice.

Yelp
When working on this side of town, like to frequent this restaurant. Parking is easy for all Types of vehicles. They have friendly staff who are happy to see you and want you to get fed quickly as possibly. They treat everyone like old friends. They offer plenty of opinions on the food, plenty of vegetables, fried food options, sandwiches & soups. Food portions are large and the menu is HUGE! They offer Coke products, which is always a plus. You wont leave hungry and they sell old timey candy At the check out register.

Albert C.

Yelp
A family style restaurant that's a good place to eat if you want some home cooking. The portions are generous & the servers are attentive. Plenty of variety of dishes to choose from & they have daily specials

Brent C.

Yelp
Best meat and 2 veggies Lunch specials daily Friendly staff Breakfast and lunch only

Frank D.

Yelp
I've had 3 meals there while traveling on business. This is an exceptional place for friendliness where so many people seem to be regulars and are called by their name. Chef T runs the kitchen staff and was ensuring everything got out fast and hot. I can honestly say nobody but Chef T has ever been able to cook my eggs the way I asked plus when I asked for crispy bacon, I got it. I even heard him in the kitchen telling the staff and it was right! Melanie served me the last time and she was as efficient and friendly as they come and provided lots of attention to all her customers. I do like that numerous servers ensured my cup of coffee was always filled. From meatloaf and greens to sausage gravy and breakfast, they all work hard.

Yelp
I have a lot to say about this restaurant. Let's start with the food. It is absolutely delicious - I got the spicy buffalo wrap the time I went, and it was amazing. The service was also good. Very speedy and was nicer than most other restaurants I have been to. Getting in and out can be a problem sometimes, but other than that it is a simple process, getting your food. Ambience is also very nice - has a good farmyard vibe. Sure, it's my first time, whatever, this food is something ELSE ENTIRELY. If 6 stars were possible, I would most *definitely* rate it accordingly. Recommend to EVERYONE.

Yelp
3.5 stars After work on a Saturday morning, me and my man decided to try something new to us. So pulled out the Yelp app and searched until we found something that sounded appealing. It's your average American style diner type of place. Just good ole homey feel. The severs helped each other out, everyone was working together and it really seemed like they enjoyed being there. I went with the veggie omelette and grits. I requested to add cheese to my grits. I saw in the menu it was an additional fee for shredded cheese so I assumed that was what I was going to get. However, I simply got a slice of American cheese in the middle of my grits. I wished our sever would have simply asked me if I wanted shredded or American. So although the grits weren't half bad, my grits were ruined for me because I hate American cheese. Now my side of corn beef hash was banging! My man thoroughly enjoyed it as well. The rye bread was delicious too. My omelette was satisfying. It lacked seasoning but just add some salt, pepper and hot sauce and it was ready to consume. My man ordered hash browns with scrambled eggs and pork chops. Everything on his plate was tasty except those pork chops. They were tough! I mean TOUGH!! I would definitely pass on those in the future. We didn't hate the place and had a nice breakfast overall, but unless we were in the area - we wouldn't come out of our way to eat here.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. The prices are reasonable and breakfast skillet was warm and filling

Yelp
Hungry? Yes? This place will make you feel better. Stopped by for some lunch after stumbling across this place on Yelp. When I arrived, I noticed the "older" vibe of the decor. Clearly this place has been here for a while and it stood the test of time. My expectations just went up. I ordered the fried chicken lunch special. Not knowing the quantity, I elected for the half chicken - white meat. When the food arrived, it might as well have been Thanksgiving for me. There was no way I'd be able to finish - even if I tried. As I bit in, it was like asking Siri - "what is comfort food?" That's what was sitting in front of me. Delicious and flavorful chicken, really awesome mac and cheese (that my son stole), and freshly made mashed potatoes. You can taste the homemade in everything. I left so full, with so much left on the plate. Great food. I'm not from the area, but I can definitely see how folks become regulars here. (Nevermind the fact the staff knew most people by name.)

Yelp
This is your all-American southern diner located in an industrial area and aptly named Stockyard Restaurant. Service is fast and friendly, and the food is fast and delicious. Ever had liver mush? I highly recommend this regional North Carolina specialty! It looks a lot better than it sounds, which helps in terms of rendering it more appetizing to consume: it's at least 30% pork liver (per NC law) that's formed into the shape and size of a hash brown and pan fried so it's got a crispy exterior to...you know...hold the mush in. Other than that, you can't go wrong with eggs, hash browns, and biscuits. There's a refrigerator with what looked like amazing banana pudding, but that would've been some illegal decadence at 9:15 a.m. on a Tuesday. I would definitely return to try their country fixin's for lunch.

Greg T.

Yelp
As always the food was great. The service was excellent. I am always satisfied. Can't beat it
google avatar

Yelp
Don't let the dusty dirt driveway fool ya. When it's comes to southern home cooking this place is a temple for the soul. I had the Thursday special fried chicken, with fried okra, pickled beats, and squash casserole (not on the menu). John Bon Columbia (my boy in the photos) had the Thursday Turkey Special. His sides were Mac & cheese, and mash potatoes because he's a child. Fun fact John doesn't like water... While nothing made me have a orgasm, the star of the show was the squash casserole. Which should be on the menu! Johns favor thing was turkey... Turkey! The most boring meat in the world. It's so boring you fall asleep after! But whatever, it's real and fresh and they actually bake it so that's something. Oh yea I had banana pudding was pretty good, wish it had just a little bit more banana chunks in it but tots work it.

Yelp
This place is hopping and don't let the full parking lot scare you away. Great home cooking with amazing service. Have eaten lunch and breakfast here. Portions are enough to fill you up. Must stop in and try.
google avatar

Christopher S.

Yelp
A working man's paradise! Home cooked food in a friendly atmosphere. Servers are attentive and very courteous. They have daily specials and have great sweet tea!!

Yelp
Out and about running errands and this place was only a few miles out of the way so why not whirl it. location more than anything pushes this down a smidge because it is a fabulous sprawling 1970's truck stop diner except with fewer trucks and more stop. Not too many people when I arrived about noon-ish but full-up when I left so plan on getting here half an hour ago. hard time deciding on which breakfast to have so I went with country style steak: cubed steak on rice plus fries and green beans plus coffee. Big fancy hamburger in light brown gravy is hard to wreck so I'm glad they didn't, the rice isn't quite the nishiki I grew up with but it works very well as a sop for the gravy. green beans are cooked through, sweet, and softened but well short of being mush, could use a dash of vinegar to lighten things up but still good. fries are the lightly seasoned variety and come out hot and crisp so say grace early and be ready to eat. and don't forget to jelly-up the corn muffins some while they're warm so's they'll pass for dessert when they're cold. Not exactly a cavalcade of flavours but that's pale-people food at it's best and mostly why salt and pepper are on the table and hot sauce is available on request.
google avatar

Troy S.

Yelp
Great breakfast and great customer service!!! Staff were all super friendly. Food came out hot and prices were on point. Our table had the scramblers, skillets and breakfast special. Will be back again to try the chicken and waffles. If your looking for a great family owned place to eat, with southern hospitality. Then this is the place.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
5 Stars across the board. Food, Service have always been top notch. Restaurant is always clean, tables are always thoroughly cleaned.
google avatar

Rhonda C.

Yelp
This place is so good. Great food and service. Some of the best sweet tea I've ever had, amazing grits (I ask for real butter for it). I've eaten breakfast here several times-always wonderful. I usually get hobo breakfast skillet with bacon & side of grits. I've only had lunch here once but it was equally great-country style cube steak with rice & green beans. Great meat & 2 or 3. Great home style southern cooking. I wish they were open nights & weekends but totally understand why they aren't.

April M.

Yelp
Corn beef hash was a little salty, but eggs and cheese toast was the bomb. Very very friendly environment and I will go back.
google avatar

K R.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast. Great people and service. Have only had breakfast here on four separate occasions Can only believe all offerings as good as the ones I have had. Will be back
google avatar

Zena T.

Yelp
We went Wednesday for the first time for breakfast and neither of us was impressed. The food was only okay. No real butter for the pancakes, potatoes were bland and cooked hard and the bacon didn't taste like anything. Coffee was good, husband's sweet tea was nasty. We'll go back again to try lunch
google avatar

Yelp
Competes with Circle G. Food is decent. Staff is friendly. Decor is cute, country feel.

Christie B.

Yelp
Food was awesome! The cornbread was brought out first, it was warm and just good! The team there was on top of everything, service was good!
google avatar

Doug L.

Yelp
I love coming here for the breakfast and lunch specials. Great food and never disappoints

John W.

Yelp
This was a great choice for breakfast. We were a family of five and all enjoyed our food. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was warm. We would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys a good meal at a fair price in a friendly place.
google avatar

Dominique W.

Yelp
Great restaurant with even better service! The food is southern homestyle cooking. The waitress was friendly and polite and great at making recommendations. I was catching up with a friend so we were there for a couple hours and nobody seemed bothered that we hadn't left yet. Has a neighborhood restaurant vibe where most of the customers seem to be locals and known by restaurants employees. Would definitely recommend trying if your in the mood for breakfast or home style cooking:) I had the Salisbury steak entree and would order again.
google avatar

Debbie G.

Yelp
Great home cooked food go at lunchtime the specials are great. The people make you feel at home and the atmosphere is very inviting for everyone

Aliya W.

Yelp
I went to Stockyard on Valentine's Day with my fiancé. I got the hamburger steak and a lemonade. My sides were the (vegan) collards and the mashed potatoes. I kid you not, I licked the plate clean. Delicious doesn't even describe how fabulous that plate of food was. My fiancé had the fried chicken and his whole plate was equally amazing(I ate some of his too). We got the corn muffins as a side and they ended up in a napkin in my purse along with a fried chicken drumstick. I was full but there was noooo way I was wasting anything. I just waited to digest and then I had more room. The service was spectacular and all available staff pitched in to help every guest they saw. It was such a community based effort and it was refreshing to see. My favorite part of the entire experience was the sweet waitress and the fact that no one rushed us even though we got there very close to their closing hours. This place is a gem. The ambiance is warm and inviting. I know I have to get there earlier next time but I'm so glad I got this experience but this place should be on everyone's list. You should not come to Charlotte and not grab a plate here.
google avatar

Stephanie F.

Yelp
Love the mom and pop diner! My favorite is the wings. Great place for breakfast, lunch and dinner!!!
google avatar

Yelp
This place has good breakfast! These pancakes taste like a little bit of heaven I'm sure!! The ladies are so friendly! Since I've been here in Charlotte this is my go to for breakfast spot!!
