Google
The outdoor patio with fire was very nice. The deep fried pickles were delicious. The chicken pot pie flavor was very mild, not very chicken forward. It also had a flavor I could not identify.

I asked for a side of Mac n cheese - you should have just said NO, cause this ain’t it. It was dry and in a 6oz cup which was ridiculous for almost 8$. I should have went to noodles n company for that price which would have been much more quality than this and probably not a dry box of Mac n cheese you found on a shelf. Very disappointed.

Google
They have some good food. I had the burger. It was OK nothing to write home about. The atmosphere was clean and nice. Just a little chilly.

This is one of those places the locals know about but you don't. It's tucked just off of Concord Street but easy to find on Google maps. The food and drinks were very good. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. I think our server was new because she didn't come around as often as we would have liked but the chef came out to ask how we liked the food which rarely happens. Apparently they even have meat raffles at this site on certain days. I would recommend a visit.

Awesome ambiance and decor, clean with great service. Loved the tots and cheesesteak slider I had for lunch!

The main thing I like about this restaurant is that they are always improving. The manager, Tony, does a great job. They catered our wedding and it was beyond any expectations. Keep up the good work!

Google
I came here today specifically for the Chicken Pot Pie! I just wanted to say Thank You for the delicious meal! I will definitely be coming back soon! Thank you and keep up the good work!

Google
Excellent place. Outdoor seating and bottomless mimosas, amazing breakfast choices and friendly staff. The only negative comments would be about the eggs Benedict, the Canadian Bacon was super thin and felt like shaved ham... But, I will be back and order the meat skillet.

Yelp
Stockyards Tavern & Chophouse is one of our go-to spots for dinner -- it's easily one of the best restaurants near our house when we're craving a place with fine dining vibes without going too far. It's a bit hit-or-miss on how busy it is -- sometimes it's packed and hard to grab a table, other times it's easy to walk right in. I almost always order a Moscow Mule here and have never been disappointed. This time, we decided to splurge on a Chocolate Martini for dessert, and it did not disappoint -- it was delicious! We also shared the lava cake, which was good, but smaller than expected. It came in a small cup with a scoop of ice cream on the side. Personally, I probably wouldn't order it again because the ratio of molten chocolate to the brownie part just wasn't quite right for me. With their new menu, I tried the Cajun Fettuccine and added steak for an extra charge. The portion size was on the smaller side, and for my taste, there were a few too many mushrooms, but the steak was fantastic -- so tender and flavorful that it ended up being my favorite part of the dish. Normally, I stick with my tried-and-true favorite -- the Steak Bites appetizer -- because the whiskey seasoning on them is absolutely amazing! My partner ordered the Cheesesteak Sliders with a side Caesar Salad (his second time ordering it because he liked it so much!). Fair warning: the portion is smaller, so if you're looking to really fill up, it might not be enough. A few extras: Parking: They have a free lot, and we almost always find a spot easily. Entertainment: If you're into pull tabs, they have them! All in all, Stockyards is one of my favorite neighborhood spots -- perfect for locals. However, if you're not from South Saint Paul, it might not be a destination restaurant worth a longer drive.

Yelp
Last week 27 women and I dined in a private room at Stockyards Tavern and Chophouse in South St Paul. The setting was perfect for our size group and the food was fabulous. We were most impressed with the peach/chicken salad. It was a beautiful salad with fruit, nuts, moist, tasty chicken, and delicious basil vinaigrette dressing. The cod sliders were surprisingly tasty with all the other extra greens and special tartar sauce. The patty melt had great flavor as did the side of fries. The generous size berry cheesecake bites topped off the meal perfectly--yum. Michelle and Deja did an excellent job serving our food and drinks. Each was so personable and efficient. They are real pros! This is a gem of a restaurant with delicious food, a good-sized dining room, and an extraordinary patio space for warm-weather dining. This was my first time there and I will for sure be going back to dine another time.

Yelp
From the minute we walked in we were treated like a special customer. This seemed to be the way all customers were treated. The manager was good to walk around and make sure everyone was satisfied. Then later thanked them for coming. Our party of three had the rotisserie chicken sandwich with chips, the steak Alfredo, and the ribeye w/mushrooms sides of potatoes and asparagus. All three meals were hot upon arrival and deliciously savory. The sandwich was well filled and the crispy sourdough was strong enough to hold it together. The ribeye was cooked to request at medium. And the fettuccine steak to pink. Drinks were refilled when empty and never ran dry. We also ordered the Mule and Tavern old Fashion. Both excellent drinks with a decent amount of alcohol. No hiding small pours with overly sweet additions. Would definitely order again. Desserts included the cheesecake with wild berries - deliciously sweet and flavorful. And a crème brûlée, still warm and creamy. Serves with their specialty coffee, a rich and fruity flavor that companions well with the desserts and allows for lingering talk time. Ambiance is what you might expect for a steakhouse. Warm, inviting, and just a little more on the business casual to dressy side, but not so pretentious you can't wear a nice blouse with jeans. I can see this being a great place for rehearsal dinners (they have a private room with a fireplace that seats up to 45 comfortable and can open onto the patio in nice weather), dates for homecoming and prom, or if you want to impress a first date but not go all formal. Prices are reasonable given the amount of food and quality. Not too high but not a cheap date. Again, quality food for the price. Would we go again? Absolutely. I can see getting cravings for the food and especially that Tavern Old Fashion.

Yelp
Love this place; off the beaten path and a must stop after a tattoo from Kingdom Ink. Vibe is cozy and unassuming; staff are friendly and food is upscale bar with phenomenal sandwiches! Find them and stop in!

Yelp
The place is pretty busy for a weekday. Sadly, staff is a bit shorthanded but they still manage to come around appropriately to check on you. Food was fresh tasting but could be even better with more seasoning. Even a bit of salt can go a long way. Both the steak and fries lacked seasoning. I think the $8 charge for steak on the fettuccine is not worth the added cost for the amount you get. Maybe try the chicken with it instead. The place was somehow both quiet and noisy at the same time. The building chilly, so we ate with jackets on but an electric fireplace in the middle of the dining hall to provide a sense of warmth.

Bonnie P.

Yelp
Sunday night dinner was disappointing. The vegetables and mashed potatoes were cold. The waiter wasn't that interested. But they did bring out hotter mashed potatoes. Also, don't try the Ruben sandwich. My guest was also disappointed.

Yelp
Went here for the first time for restaurant week. Their "pineapple express" cocktail was reminiscent of a margarita, delicious, and a good value at $9. I also had the French onion soup, which was delicious, had great consistency, melted cheese on top and croutons. For the entree, I had the sirloin, which was cooked properly, and everyone enjoyed their entrees. Also pictured was the pork chop that a friend had. What I can't recommend enough is loading the baked potato! The cheese is fine, but the bacon is DELICIOUS, and for $2 you will thank yourself later. Normally it comes with sour cream and butter. The molten lava cake was decadent and gooey and came with a nice side of ice cream. Ambiance was really good, it is a very nice place that's cozy, has TVs for watching sports in the bar, and a nice glass wall fireplace. A very good experience overall!

Yelp
It is a clean place with a friendly approach. We are fish fry and some old fashioned, old fashioned are definitely subpar but fish fry was good. Bartender was attentive and engaging. We also tried the blackened shrimp which was great!
google avatar

Yelp
First visit to Stockyards was awesome. Stopped in with friends for Sunday Brunch. The Ambiance is warm and welcoming...fireplace, warm woods and TV's. The dining space is separate from the bar with the TVs The food was DELICIOUS!!! The service was outstanding! We wanted for nothing. Our server checked on us without intruding. This is a gem that we will be adding to our rotation!

Yelp
Had a very awkward experience last weekend at Stockyards. We had a family birthday and the group of 9 of us were very excited to go. When we got there checked in at the host stand were seated and drinks were brought like normal. Then after that our server was know where to be found. We ordered appetizers and had entrees with soup and salad to start the meal those were brought out pretty quickly. For a fairly empty restaurant we waited a while for our food not a huge deal but no one ever came to check in on us. Once the food started coming out the manager helped bring the food but once the food was at the table again our server disappeared. We had to track her down to get dessert. Some people in our party liked their food. Pork chop was good, whiskey steak bites were not. Someone ordered a chopped salad and chicken still looked pink. We would probably be willing to try again if the person who organized the dinner would have gotten a better response when sharing the feedback with the manager. Overall I would absolutely not recommend this spot to many options with better food and service.

Yelp
Just stopped in for dinner and they have new menu items from Chef Lance! I had the buffalo shrimp to start which was packed full of delicious flavors; spicy, creamy and crunchy! Next was the star of the meal, the seared salmon. I've been going to Stockyards for years and I can say this is the prettiest dish I have ever had here and most importantly, the tastiest! Chef Lance is making great menu additions, elevating Stockyards culinary offerings. I know I am going back soon to try the Rainbow Trout with Crayfish butter! 5 Stars!

Yelp
We came for the weekend brunch and had a great experience. The ambiance was perfect, and we were able to score a table that was directly in front of the stone fireplace. We each had bottomless pineapple mimosas, and then enjoyed the chorizo scramble and French toast. I really liked the creamy hashbrowns served with the chorizo scramble, they were delish! The French toast was served with fresh berries...yum! The service was attentive...overall, dining perfection!

Yelp
Trying some new foods since it's restaurant week! Located right off a frontage road. You can either park in the parking lot or some parts of the frontage road if it gets too busy. I went with a group of friends. Checking in was fast and friendly. It was a busy night as the place was packed. I had the Caesar salad, 6 oz Prime sirloin (medium rare) with butter, mashed potatoes and and grilled zucchini's, homemade cheesecake (red velvet), and a virgin pineapple express. The sirloin was delicious and tender, the mashed potatoes were melting smoothly in my mouth and the crisp grilled zucchini's and a piece of red pepper were also oh so yummy! The Pineapple Express was a mix of sweet and tart. The dessert choice of red velvet cheesecake to end the the night was creamy and sweetness. Would love to come back and try other items from the menu.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite of lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. Atmosphere was very chill, not too noisy for a Saturday. We just missed brunch but tried the onion rings and whiskey burger. The onion rings were big and crispy. Idk if they were worth the $8 since you only get 4 pieces, but this is the world now lol. The burger was amazing! Didn't even have mayo which I usually need to slather, and it was bomb. So flavorful with fresh toppings. Fries were good, well seasoned. The beer was great. I actually found it at total wine after because it was so good. Great for anyone who likes a sweeter, fruity beer. Our waitress was super friendly. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We enjoyed Aidan as our bartender. He served a great meal. We enjoyed the fun gang of people who were there for happy hour.

Mona W.

Yelp
We usually have great experiences here but tonight was terrible! Service was extremely slow and the steaks were awful. How can you go wrong ordering a steak in a chop house? They did it! It took at LEAST 45 minutes to get our meal. Staff didn't check in on us or tell us why the delay. Really disappointed.
google avatar

Dutch J.

Yelp
Four of us stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and had reservations for a high-top table. Manager guy says no tables available you can sit at the bar. Food and service was good.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped for happy hour from 2 to 6 today! I was very pleasantly surprised! They had decent prices for alcohol drinks and beers along with appetizers. I had a nice cabernet and a generous amount of steak bites cooked perfectly tender with a whiskey glaze that provided the perfect after-kick! It was about 10 oz of sirloin served with one giant tender onion ring and creamy dill dip on mixed greens. $12.95 and so worth it. My wife really enjoyed her signature South Saint Paul sunrise mocktail and a huge French onion soup that was not overly salty. The service was friendly without being intrusive and it was quiet enough to have a conversation in the upscale atmosphere. This is my new favorite happy hour place!

Yelp
We have been here three times. And I want to like this place, but it seems they haven't figured out their rhythm. They have plenty of wait staff but their kitchen always seems behind. Be prepared to wait. The ambiance is great both inside and outside. The food is good, however it is definitely on the heavy side and large portions. Regarding the kitchen, one night I was there I was told they were swamped with to-go orders. I hope they can figure out how to both meet that demand and serve their in-person patrons.
google avatar

Kathleen K.

Yelp
Our server, Grace, did a fantastic job. She was the highlight of our visit. We had the Stockyards Biscuits & Gravy and the Steak Frites. The biscuits were so hard on the bottom that my husband could barely cut through them with a steak knife. So he cut off the bottoms. The gravy was also bland and cool. The Steak Frites would have been much better if the chimichurri sauce didn't taste like vinegar. The steak was cooked perfectly to order (very nice) and the fries were good and nicely seasoned. A thicker cut of fries would have been better. I had to scrape off the sauce. Normally chimichurri has a bright herb flavor. The chocolate bread pudding is excellent - go ala mode.
google avatar

Erin S.

Yelp
Waited 30 minutes for someone to greet us and take our drink order, then just decided to leave. Definitely some problems with overall management. They clearly were understaffed for the amount of tables they were allowing to be sat. Not very fair to their staff or patrons. Disappointing experience.

Yelp
Went out for dinner during restaurant week and decided try out Stockyard. For living so close to this location, I had never heard of it and the menu looked delicious. First when I walked in they were very friendly and I even saw who I assumed was the manager checking in on an elderly man waiting by the front door. Making sure he was alright. Then I noticed the casual to upscale ambiance. The place was beautiful. Fire places, TVs to watch a game or some nice seating for a date night. Then the wait staff was great. Sam was ready to answer any questions and was super up beat and stayed attentive to needing more beverages or clearing plates. He was also super knowledgeable about the menu Now for the food. I love eating out with my closest friends because it means we get to taste each others food. I had the chicken soup to start and it was FULL of veggies and chicken. There was no shorting you on ingredients. Then I ordered the chicken Fettuccine. This has a thick garlic cream sauce and plenty of mushroom, spinach and chicken. Again, no shortage of food. I got a chance to try the velvet Cheesecake and the lava cake. Plus I ordered a sidecar. Everything I tasted was delicious. I will be making a trip back.

Yelp
We had seen this under construction (right across from the main Bremer Bank on Concord) so we were happy to finally go check it out today for a late lunch. My wife ordered the Chicken Pot Pie and she absolutely raved about it. Definitely ordering that again she said. I had the Cobb Salad with Blackened Chicken. The spices on the Blackened Chicken adding a nice boost to the salad's flavor. Delicious. The decor is clean and comfortable with a fireplace separating the dining room from the bar area. It's spacious inside and there are a row of outdoor tables with their own fire pits in the back. Our server, Justina, was great; friendly and professional. The whole experience was top notch. We are so glad to see and taste this new addition to our restaurant selections and can't wait to go back and try the Chophouse menu next time for dinner. The same ownership group who oversee the St. Paul Grill and Tria, among others, brought us this and we will be back.

Yelp
First time trying their house made Bloody Mary mix and it is incredible. Perfect amount of spice and great garnishments. Their avocado toast is always cooked to perfection. Fluffy eggs and perfectly toasted sourdough bread. The creamy hash browns are so tasty - cheesy, a little crunchy and always hot. The Southern omelette has the perfect mix of meat, veggies and cheese. Always fresh! The bar is the best place to sit IMO. Lots of TVs to watch games and bartenders are fun to talk to. The fireplace gives the space a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Overall 10/10 always! Never a bad experience at Stockyards Tavern and Chophouse.

Yelp
Our 2nd visit for happy hour did not go as well as our first. Met at the entrance by the host who told us that we should have made a reservation for 5pm happy hour for a party of 6 adults and two children. Then he rearranged a table for us. We had a table in a few minutes. We ordered appetizers and drinks. Some of the onion rings had a thin husk over the onion and both the cheese curds and onion rings were way over done. The steak bites were way overdone and were way more spicy hot (almost to the point of being inedible) than the nice sweet whiskey glazed ones that we had in our previous visit about two weeks ago. I wonder if they hired a new chef since our previous visit. Next time I will order with no spice and more pink steakbites than the well-done-charred ones we received. The waitress provided great service which is why we will be back for one more chance.

Dean C.

Yelp
Ordered a ribeye came out way over done took it back and second 1 was over done. Tasted like it was burnt, for $45 I would expect a better steak out of a steak house.Salad came out after the first over done steak was taken back.Definitely won't be back. Come to my house I'll cook way better for way less. Thumbs down for sure.

Yelp
This place was rocking on our first visit. We loved the vibe and got a table near a sunny window. I chose the Farmers Market salad and husband had the Chicken Bacon Wrap. Both meals were good. A few too many candied walnuts on my salad but those were easy to scoot off to the side. Service was good. Fun date night.
google avatar

Yelp
Checked out this place for the first time during restaurant week and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was super friendly very attentive. The food was really yummy and somehow I still managed to finish off the red velvet cheesecake. During dinner the place was kinda busy but not too loud which was enjoyable.

Carole L.

Yelp
Our visit last week was perfect. Both service and food were the best. Tried coconut shrimp....flatbread...pot pie .....could not pick the best. They were all wonderful. Thank you for a great evening. Beautiful restaurant. I give it 5 stars and will return soon.

Yelp
This restaurant is super clean, very cute, and always has great service from the hostess to the wait staff. We also love that they offer unlimited mimosas on weekends so we decided to stop in for brunch. We tried several items including the pancakes, an omelette, and a variety of egg and meat dishes. Everyone was really satisfied with their food and most of the compliments were on the cheesy hashbrowns. The reason for the docked star was that the filling of my omelette was raw and some was even cold. I don't know about you, but having raw onions for breakfast isn't exactly my cup of tea! We might come back, but I will make sure to ask that they cook the ingredients before they put them inside the omelette, which is something I shouldn't have to do.

Stephaine A.

Yelp
Went to brunch on a Sunday with friends. Two got their meals, while the other 2 waited- one of those orders was incorrect and the other had to wait while they made more pancake batter. They comped the whole table and were very apologetic. Love the atmosphere, but the kitchen could definitely use some improvement.
google avatar

Katelynn M.

Yelp
I love the food here. The menu is pretty typical American food and is similar to a lot of other restaurants, but everything I have gotten has tasted amazing. I highly recommend the chicken pot pie, it tastes better than homemade. They also have a great brunch complete with bottomless mimosas which can be fun with a group of friends. The thing that really sets this restaurant apart is how clean everything is. Whenever I have been there the counters, the floors, the bathrooms are always clean which makes me feel more comfortable eating there.
google avatar

Kyra C.

Yelp
This is a great location along Concord in South Saint Paul. They have a great happy hour, lots of craft beer on tap (and cocktails), and one of the best patios in the south metro. Highly recommend a stop!
google avatar

Brad L.

Yelp
We've been here twice and both meals and bar experience were great. The bartenders are very good and the food is even better. We just found out that they offer their own beer and they own distillery flavors of liquor. I had a MN Mule that had their Tattersall vodka. Very good drink and it looks like their bloody Mary's are popular that they infuse with their own pepper vodka. Definitely worth visiting as you wouldn't expect it to be that nice from the outside and surrounding area.
google avatar

Chelsea S.

Yelp
I had a really good dining experience here. I went during a snow storm but the staff was very friendly! The food was very good. I had a burger with fries and molten cake for dessert. The ambiance was nice and dim with the winter snow outside giving it a good balance.
google avatar

Lindsey H.

Yelp
What a gem! This place has it all! Great happy hour, patio, great ambiance, bottomless mimosas (weekends) and bomb food. I was super impressed by their breakfast! Awesome pancakes and super unique hash-browns. Their onion rings are massive but so good. You won't regret checking this spot out.

Sonia R.

Yelp
We went there tonight to celebrate my mother in-law birthday. Our first time at this place and I don't think we will be coming back. We arrived and waited for bred, as it was being baked, so that was late. We ordered the onion soup, it was salty to the point that we couldn't ate, the ribeye steaks, was poorly seasoned and cooked, and it wasn't a good quality of steak. I have cooked at home ribeye from Hy-Vee and it is so much better, medium well was more like medium and medium more like medium rare. We also ordered baked potatoes, 20 minutes later our server came out to let us know there were out of potatoes. We switched to French fries and rice. The rise wasn't cooked throughout so that was hard to eat too. Based on price, I would compare to the Outback and Texas Steakhouse which both are so much better, to say the least!

Brian B.

Yelp
You mite first of all considering getting some selection in beer! I have never seen a place with such a variety of beers without a variety of selection of types. Not one porter or stout to choose from. Second the bartender was a total Witch with a capital B!
google avatar

Dave D.

Yelp
Nice location and atmosphere. Service was great. Slow but to be fair we came in behind a large group on a Sunday. Ordered wings to start. Got 8 wings for $16 7 flats and 1 drummy. I'll give it another chance.

Brian P.

Yelp
We did not have a reservation and it was busy, but they got us in on the patio! The server recommended the coconut shrimp and steak bites. The whiskey glaze on steak was excellent. Outstanding blackened salmon with a dill cream sauce. Server said the apple tart was her favorite and she was right the combination of the puff pastry with warm apples, caramel and ice cream was superb. Fantastic first time experience, great service, food and nice touch with fire pits on patio will definitely be back.

Paula S.

Yelp
From the menu descriptions, to the plating, to the taste --- food is fantastic. Service is good -- just the right amount of attention, very friendly staff.
google avatar

Paul R.

Yelp
Not with the money or time because they under cook the food tasteless overpriced I don't know the whole place kind of sucks will not ever come back to here again if you want some rotten food that has no taste go to the stockyard and South Saint Paul
google avatar

Tracey F.

Yelp
Gave this place a try after a dinner-at-home fail. Wanted something within a quick drive and Stockyards came up on the search. Checked out the menu and looked like a decent enough place. Driving up, I really wondered what this space used to be. It looked like it had been re-purposed, but was a nice space inside. Lots to choose from, just note, some menu items aren't available until 4 pm. I tried the Mac & Cheese with the rotisserie chicken, hubs had the steak bites (pictured) and a Caesar salad. The M&C was good (loved the gouda!), but I would leave the chicken out next time. Not that the chicken was bad, but it was cut in huge chunks and was difficult to eat (for me, anyway). Snabbed a bit of the steak bites and loved the Whiskey sauce on them. Also, presented in an onion ring. Had a pineapple margarita and holy, it was strong, but delicious Will definitely come back and give some other things a try.

Yelp
Last night l had the worst Salmon presentation ever and the salmon was tasteless. Les Malmquist

Yelp
Always good food and service. Fireplace always on. We have been many times lunch and dinner.

Yelp
This is a newer looking place that is clean and friendly. They have good food and drinks also. I have more photos that may not be attaching to my review but the chicken pot pie is awesome! Do not burn yourself. They have a large bloody Mary and Flavored gourmet margarita that was also very good. I took several pictures of the menu also. Enjoy

Yelp
Love this place. They are always working on improvements. Now the have a fabulous outdoor set up with tables and chairs, other seating and heating! This is a hidden gem with great food and service.

Yelp
New start up in historic Stockyards area if St. Paul with loads of potential! Very clean, new facade and interior--fireplace, fountain, and high warehouse ceilings. Coming soon (Fall 2021): outdoor patio bar. I came with a friend and family member. We were all impressed with the fresh restaurant and array of options. I ordered Fish & Chips. While I had high hopes, it failed to impress. The fish had too much breading for my taste. The house-made tarter sauce and cole slaw were fresh and excellent, however. The french fries were just average. Meanwhile, those around us were ordering breakfast (around noon)--it looked abundent and fantastic! Perhaps I ordered the wrong item from the menu? My family member ordered the Fish & Chips and concurred with my opinion. My friend ordered the Chicken Pot Pie and rated it a 4/5-the crust looked light and flakey. The waitress advised that the Stockyard is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Their full menu of steak is only available beginning at 4pm.

Yelp
Try this place out before everyone else discovers it! Great food, amazing service and beautiful atmosphere. Parking is a breeze and making reservations online makes Sunday morning breakfast gatherings less stressful! Just turn your vent on recirculating when crossing the Mississippi River
