Where To Pretend You’re In A Countryside Farm Shop In London - London - The Infatuation

"Do you own a farm and have a gaggle of ducks named after A.A. Milne characters? Well, within the walls of this white-tiled shop, deli, and charming gruyère enabler, we feel like we do. Stoke Newington Church Street locals wander in for eggs and a loaf of sourdough, and leave with a tub of Sicilian marmalade and a blossoming friendship with the knitwear enthusiast behind the charcuterie counter. If you're partial to ‘a little treat’, stop by for a cinnamon-dusted morning bun or flaky pain au chocolat fresh from The Dusty Knuckle. And a bag of chocolate biscotti. And a bottle of Stokey’s pre-made Negroni because another long day on the farm is thirsty work." - sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley

Stokey’s Delicatessen - Review - Stoke Newington - London - The Infatuation

"Sorry, we can’t talk right now. We’re busy pretending we own a farm, have a gaggle of ducks named after A.A. Milne characters, and a very real need to buy a kilo of gruyère on a Wednesday lunchtime. Such is the sweet, wholesome dissociation that occurs within Stokey’s Delicatessan, a faux countryside shop and deli. It’s the kind of place where Stoke Newington Church Street locals wander in for eggs and a loaf of sourdough, and leave with a tub of Sicilian marmalade, artisan pickle-flavoured crisps, and a blossoming friendship with the knitwear enthusiast working behind the charcuterie counter. The coffee is great and if you, like us, are partial to ‘a little treat’, stop by for one of the cinnamon-dusted morning buns or a glistening, flaky pain au chocolat fresh from The Dusty Knuckle. And a bag of chocolate biscotti. And homemade granola. And a bottle of Stokey’s pre-batched Negroni because another long day on the farm is thirsty work. photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley" - Heidi Lauth Beasley

My go to place for coffee in Stoke Newington! The team that work there are always so lovely and friendly, nice to pop in for a quick hello and chat! Delicious bread and cakes which I can't resist!...They were also really helpful when they saw my bike get stolen outside on the highstreet one day, leaving a note and filming the incident, thank you!

Best coffee on church street and SUCH lovely staff. Great array of products from cheese and meats on the deli counter to fresh pasta, yoghurt and pestos in the fridge. There’s local suppliers mixed in with international independent brands and a sweet array of homemade cocktails

Reliably good coffee and a great selection of fancy / independent pantry staples, deli items and treats (chocolates, wines etc). Very friendly people too!

We are so lucky to have this wonderful deli in our neighbourhood. Lovely staff, who always take the time to chat - great coffee, fresh pasta, pastries, cheese and my personal favourite Sicilian olive oil Bella Terra. Over lockdown it has been so nice having somewhere to pop to in the morning and grab food for the day.

Decent selection of goods and growing regularly . I am, however, turned off of this place already. I was in during the first week or so and the owner was so incredibly rude, condescending and passive aggressive to his (obviously) new staff with myself and other patrons in ear shot. Not only was he openly aggressive to them, he tried to get empathy from me saying he was training 4 people during open hours. There is no excuse to treat people the way he did. It’s a shame because I focus on supporting local businesses but there are plenty of small shops offering similar items. Not the best impression in a new neighborhood and hoping to see improvement at some point in the future.
