Chef Carl and Nancy curated an exquisite coursed brunch/dinner experience that is second to none. We felt welcomed and well served by their staff and enjoyed every moment over multiple visits. The changing seasonal menus with farm fresh vegetables, locally sourced ingredients, and thoughtful wine pairings are always a well balanced delight. We look forward to returning many times as each visit is a little different but always very special. Bravo!

We’ve been lucky enough to attend multiple times, and each visit feels like something out of a storybook. It’s a beautifully intimate, high-end experience where the owners personally cook, serve, and pour wine with genuine hospitality. You have to reserve tickets when they release them, and it’s always a special coursed meal worth waiting for. A romantic, soulful night every single time.

i will start off by saying that the caliber of the food is phenomenal, full stop, without exaggeration. the food quality alone would have me coming back for another experience. the staff were all welcoming and we never felt rushed (the point for many, i assume); it felt as though we were welcomed into someone’s home for a very intimate experience. however, there was significant lag time between courses (30+ minutes) and this exaggerated to me the small portion sizes (which only took about a minute to eat and enjoy). i think the experience would have benefited from shorter wait times between courses and a better flow of getting the food out. in the end, regardless of how amazing the food was, i was still hungry by the time we left, which for me is the mark of a tasting menu that is not fully optimized. it was also notable that after the opportunity for cocktails and the chance to add wine pairings, the ability to order another full drink off menu was not easy; the wait staff were honed in on their tasks, and we were certainly never asked outright if we wanted other drinks. i found this a bit odd and grating by the end of the night.

We came here for the cooking experience and the 3 course meal. Nancy met us at the door with sparkling rose, we also met Chef Carl, and got to chat before the dinner experience. They gave us a tour of their beautiful property, where many of the ingredients are grown. The food was top notch. Very delicious, beautiful, and appetizing! We had great cocktails, great mocktails, and great wines! I highly recommend coming here, it’s such a gem of a place! You’re going to love it!

Google
Bucket list to attend a dinner at stone soup cottage, and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere, food, and service is top notch! The atmosphere is perfect in transporting you to a French countryside. We walked around the beautiful garden of flowers that they use for their table flowers. Arrived at 6 to have a cocktail before dinner and it was excellent! My husband and I are obsessed with the roll with the sprinkle of pepper. Amazing. Do the wine pairing with the dinner- the dessert wine at the end complimented the fresh peach dessert perfectly. Service was wonderful and I love how the chef brings out the food. We will definitely go back for special occasions!

Google
Every detail of our dinner at Stone Soup Cottage was carefully curated. The team (since they work all together) was amazing, could not have been more accommodating and kind. The cocktails and food were out of this world. We don’t typically go for French cuisine (we went to the Spring in Paris dinner series) but this farm to table meal was unforgettable!

My wife and I had an amazing date night at Stone Soup Cottage as we were teleported to the French country side for a French picnic next to a pond with trickling water and live music.  Amazing food, wine, and our gracious hosts Carl and Nacy!  Thank you for an amazing evening and a much needed break!!

Google
A fantastic fine dinning experience with a warm atmosphere and welcoming staff. The outdoor seating area prior to dinner provides a great opportunity to relax and take in your surroundings. The food was a set menu and was excellent, even items I normally would not eat were great. Portions are fairly small which is to be expected but I left feeling content and not overly full.

Yelp
By far one of the best dining experiences I have ever had! Chef Carl personally greets all diner which makes it above and beyond! His wife Nancy perfectly paired all the wines with our dinner. Their gorgeous patio is the perfect place to take in a pre-dinner drink. This place is an absolute must on your STL eating list. It's not just a meal it's an experience beyond any I've had. Chef Carl, Nancy and the staff have a real passion seeing people enjoy their work and I am ready for my next visit!

Yelp
I've put off writing a review of Stone Soup Cottage because I'm not sure I can properly sum up how beautiful of a place it is. We've been here several times for their wine pairing dinners, and I am always completely blown away; and that's putting it mildly. The space is just gorgeous. There's this moment when you're driving up in the dark, and suddenly you see this illuminated farmhouse in all of its glory, and you just know it's going to be a special evening. Their wine pairing dinners sell out quickly, so keep your eyes on their website and social media. I'd also recommend waiting for a dinner when you know you're going to love every single course, only because the dinners are quite expensive. We recently went to their white truffle dinner and had, hands down, the best dining experience of our lives. Show up early--I believe you can get to your table an hour before the dinner begins--and let their talented team craft you a cocktail. From there, you can definitely expect top-tier plates and expertly-paired wines. Truly, it's just a delightful experience from beginning to end. I'm always so shocked that this is all going down in Cottleville! We'll be back many times, if we're lucky.

Yelp
The food was absolutely amazing in a cozy yet upscale cottage ambiance. Many simple classics made with produce from the farm which equals a fresh wow factor. The fact chef takes his time to serve drinks and food was a very nice touch. Disappointed two items which should have come out warm arrived cold, including our soup. I left very satisfied and full, but my husband left still hungry. I'd say each course came about 30 minutes after the next and by the time the next course came he was starving. Everyone is served at the same time so their is definitely no chance in "rushing" the tastings. Hard to pay a hefty price for dinner and still need to get food on the way home. If you are an early to bed person or have something to do early the next day, this is not your place! We weren't expecting a 4 hour dinner....I think we were ready for bed by course 3 to be honest.

Yelp
So finally made it here..! We reserved a month in advance through their insta page where they post all their upcoming events. We got in around 6.30 pm to enjoy drinks on the patio. It is tucked away in cottleville and is like dining at someone's home. The host and hostess were warm and welcoming! Each dish was explained in detail and there were personal touches on every aspect of the meal. The meal itself was brought out course by course and each dish was spectacularly plated. We opted for cocktails but you can go for wine pairing as well. No review or picture can do justice to this meal- you have to experience it yourself. Well worth the cost!

Yelp
We love dining at Stone Soup during their special brunch and dinner events. The food is always amazing as well as the service. We love the ambiance of the old farm house and grounds and it's always decorated so beautifully for the season! I would highly recommend going to one of their events and don't forgot they have an amazing wine selection!

Yelp
We have been trying to get a reservation for months and when we saw that they were closing, we were devastated! Thank goodness they opened back up for seasonal dinner series. I recommend following on instagram. This is where they post when their tickets go live. We attended the Spring Dinner series. They also offered a Parisian Brunch but that was sold out. There were 5 courses total and each were great! The wine pairing was exquisite. You can tell it is a family establishment. The chef's wife was the Sommelier and their son and daughter were the waiters. The chef personally came out with each course to explain the dish. The vibe is cozy and romantic. We can't wait to try the brunch!
google avatar

Jimmy Z.

Yelp
Food was pretty OK, but the whole thing was outrageously expensive. I didn't realize until we sat that the wine pairing was an additional $55 pp. My bad. That was about 2 ounces per course. $200 pp for dinner, two cocktails before dinner, and with tip the whole thing is nearly $600. That's the second most expensive dinner I've ever had, and certainly not the second best. It may be in the top 50. Not returning...

Yelp
Quaint and beautiful property, thoughtfully curated dishes and wine pairings, excellent service and execution.

Yelp
Poorly managed business. My husband and I have been to this restaurant once. The food and service was exceptional. We received two $100 gift cards 3 years ago from my parents as a Christmas gift. The restaurant closed shortly after due to covid. We anxiously awaited the reopening but were disappointed at their decision to remain closed. Since then they have offered a few dinners which have sold out in less than a minute and we have not been able to use our gift cards. My husband and I have made several attempts via phone and email to just get my folks money back and have not gotten a response. These people may know how to cook but dont know how to do business and are stealing peoples money. Will no longer recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Stone Soup Cottage is a delightful dining experience. Every month the menu changes. Located I believe on a farm, we almost passed the place up. I'm not too familiar with Cottellville and I'm pretty sure I just misspelled it. It looks as if it's in an old home but I think building is new. No matter, it's very charming and would be a great place for an engagement party or special event. They have a large patio that I can imagine would be great when the weather permits. The night we were there, it was hot and only early June. They have a very large gravel lot so no problems with parking. The menu is 6/7 courses. Sorry, it's been a while. Check the website for the current offerings. Everything was really good. The chef delivers most of the food and explains it to all at the table. If you like, you can order the wine flight which is a separate charge. I wouldn't pass this up as the wines were very good and well paired with the food. A separate server served the wine and answered questions. They do have a full bar with drink specials. We had Champagne at the beginning of the meal and there was no extra charge. If you have a special occasion and want something different, try Stone Soup Cottage. Make reservations early as they sell out!!

Yelp
Okay so I have been dying to visit this place. Jeez is hard to get in. We made reservations more than 3 months in advance. But the wait was so totally worth it. Stone soup cottage is tucked away in Cottleville, down a winding private road. At the end of the road is a parking lot and stone soup cottage. It is a dimly lit farmhouse style venue large wooden doors and panels and understated elegance. I didn't get many pictures because it was so cozy and it seemed like a shame to click away and spoil the mood. Long story short, they have a 6 course menu and amuse bouche with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine with an option to get a wine pairing with each course. They also have wine, beer and cocktails. The place setting is formal and with a multitude of knives and forks, the portions are small and perfect and the leisurely paced. It is a very enjoyable experience . It is unlike any meal I've had in years. The food was delicious but I won't go into details because the menu changes every month. It is a truly wonderful and luxurious experience for a special occasion with a special someone.

Yelp
It is worth the wait to experience the French cuisine at Stone Soup Cottage. It is more than a meal! We made reservations 4 months out. Located in Cottleville, removed from the city. The restaurant itself is an old home, located on a working farm. Dinner service is in one large room, set with several two person and four person tables with one table accommodating about 8 to 10 people. The food is served in multiple courses, all presented by the chef himself. Each course is paired with a Wine Paring(if you choose this option.) the menu is thoughtful and based on seasonal, local products. We had an amazing time. 3 hours of amazing cuisine A word of caution, this is not for the faint of wallet. Our meal for two was $400 with tip. That being said, it was worth every penny. * since this is an intimate, dark setting, I did not take photos.

Yelp
Review for the last time we were able to go out for a nice meal :( For the past four years we've used every special occasion to try all the new nice restaurants that have popped up around town. And for my husbands birthday, we are out of new places we wanted to try, so I decided to finally make the drive out to Cottleville instead. This is not really like the newer tasting menu restaurants in town. It's not really "on a farm" either - that whole part doesn't really play into the dinner, except that you drive onto a long unpaved farm road and arrive at this little house. The adventure and anticipation really added to our first time there, and the house is really charming! What else should you expect... Service flow - not a place where you go if you're in a hurry or don't enjoy the company you're dining with. You arrive between 6:30p and 7p, and you get sat and eventually someone takes your order for before dinner drinks. Close to 7 they pour a sparkling to welcome you. There is a small team who works well together, but about 5 people serve the entire dining room, one table at a time essentially. The chef personally delivers each dish and explains it at the table. It's very personal that way, and it obviously works for them, but that's how a 10 course dinner takes 3+ hours, as much as you take for 16-18 courses elsewhere. Doesn't matter if you eat faster or slower, you all progress through the dinner at the same pace. The atmosphere is very cozy, comfortable, and welcoming. They're not going for luxury or fanciness. We just felt very at home and relaxed and welcomed here. Everyone spoke normally but it wasn't loud - the wood must absorb sound very well. The food is... good. It tastes good is clearly made with care. It's not necessarily "out of this world" or "life changing" or "new/interesting." Just classic and delicious. The portion sizes are more 3-5 bites for almost every course, even the earlier ones. We enjoyed every course, but there isn't one that I'm looking back on for months and years to come. Overall the whole experience is reasonably priced at $100 per person. Should you come here? Not if you're chasing some unique culinary experience. But yes if you're just looking for a nice place to celebrate a special occasion, this is the perfect little nearby getaway from the city to relax, get taken care of, and enjoy a nice dinner in the company of people you love. The menu changes every month. I'd definitely come back again.

Yelp
Amazing chef. Exclusive. Expensive. Wine flights excellent. Special occasion. Reserve far in advance.

Yelp
An amazing meal and experience. We has wanted reservations for years and finally the timing, occasion, and willingness to splurge all coincided to make it happen. Unfortunately the experience exceeded our expectations so that we are looking forward to returning. Now we know what we were missing. A couple of logistics for newbies like us: get the wine pairing - worth it, dress code- all over the board - business smart to jeans and summer dresses. The service was exemplary and courteous. Loved every minute.

Yelp
In the St Louis area you will not find anywhere as special as Stone Soup Cottage. It had been on my wishlist of places to visit for way too long and we finally made it there for a joint birthday dinner for myself and my boyfriend's mom. It is the most intimate dining experience I've had at a restaurant. You feel at home. The chef brings nearly all courses to your table himself and explains where each ingredient came from (all localish - some as local as his greenhouses 50 feet away). His talent for composing well-balanced dishes is incredible. My favorite was the pecan bisque soup, simply because of how unique and surprisingly amazing it was. By the end of the dinner it felt like we were lifelong friends with the chef and we took a photo with him on the way out. This is absolutely the best deal for your money anywhere. The experience and food are unmatched. Reservations are absolutely necessary, on the first of the next month, call and get on the list. You will be so glad you did!

Yelp
I have had the pleasure of visiting the cottage on several occasions. I know they will be closing soon to explore other ventures and so I'm a bit heartbroken by the news. When I tell you no detail is over looked, the team has given attention to everything. The ambiance is romantic and cozy and rustic. The service rivals any five star restaurant. And the food..... let's just say each visit has been an unforgettable experience. Lastly, the hospitality of the team makes you feel as though you've been invited into their home for dinner. I'm going to miss them dearly but thankfully have a few more opportunities to visit.

Yelp
I attended a wedding here. I loved everything about it. The service and food were unparalleled. The ceremony was outside, and the setting was very pretty. The atmosphere inside is warm and comfortable but modern. I loved the colors and the decor. The tablescape was simple but really elegant. We had a five-course plated tasting, and each course was delicious. The smoked mussel chowder was probably my favorite. I had a glass of cab, which was great, but they had paired a Bordeaux with dinner, which was even better. The bread was also excellent as well. I wanted to use it to sop up my soup and sauces, but the butter they served with it was so good, too! I didn't order any cocktails, but others who did said they were all great. The service was excellent. They very much go above and beyond to ensure a wonderful dining experience. I think if they didn't have something you wanted, they'd probably go out and buy it for you. Probably one of the best dining experiences I've had. The couple who got married are super foodies, and it says a lot that they shelled out to have their wedding here.

Yelp
Food and ambiance is amazing!! Love this place so much. Great for special occasions or to impress or just love of food.

Yelp
Cottage to Carriage was an excellent experience! She crab soup was amazing. Braised Beef Rib was fall apart tender. The Ginger Gateau with Lemon Curd was heavenly. Along with the bottle of French wine the meal was superb!

Yelp
This was such an enjoyable experience! We have traveled the world dining at various tasting menus and finding this type of quality nestled in a neighborhood with the added touch of a family working together and clearly enjoying what they do is an inspiration that great things and good people are everywhere! We were just passing through in our sprinter van and stopped for an amazing dinner and got to meet some amazing people.

Yelp
what a wonderful evening we had! cool enough to have drinks on the patio followed by an amazing meal with exemplary service! thank you, thank you!

Yelp
Stone Soup Cottage is like the crown jewel of the STL food scene. I've never experienced anything like it, nor do I know if I'll get an experience like it again. I wish I could add a sixth star to this place to set it apart from my other five star reviews, because it is that wonderful. The location, atmosphere, hospitality and of course the food are all amazing on their own, but they come together to make this perfect little place. My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary, and they gave us a night that we won't forget. Chef Carl personally brings your table each course and explains what it is and what ingredients are from their farm (that the restaurant is on). The waitstaff is also incredibly hospitable. Shout out to Kyle for the great service and conversation! I won't go into detail about the food (but you can see pictures of the deliciousness attached to this review) because the menu changes monthly, just know that it is all unbelievable. Seriously, so so so yummy and the perfect amount for a tasting menu! Get the wine pairing- it's the cherry on top of it all. I'm also thankful that we went in the summer- we got to enjoy the evening sunlight fading into the sunset as we had dinner, and the grounds are just stunning. Stone Soup Cottage is so deserving of its #1 spot on the STL 100, I don't see how anything can top it!

Yelp
I liked the food is was great and the service pork steak is what I had you don't need a knife to cut.

Yelp
This place was absolutely incredible. One of, if not the nicest places I've ever been to. When we arrived we were seated and then told there were fire pits and blankets outside (OMG!)...that we could enjoy before dinner was served. The wine and food was UNBELIEVABLE. Everything was just SO NICE. The chef and his wife (owners) were so kind and you could tell they put their heart and soul into this place. All and all it was an incredible experience and well worth the wait (I can see why their reservations are booked out until June). Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Five stars are not enough for this world class restaurant. I've been fortunate to travel the world and I've eaten at some famous restaurants and Stone Soup Cottage is the best meal I've ever had. This place has it all, as you enter the main dining room you're greeted with a warm comfortable atmosphere which includes a fireplace and the standards playing in the background, it's perfect. The wait staff is amazing, they silently glide about the room offering the perfect service, not too much and not too little. And now the star, this chef would easily have a Michelin Star or two if it was in Europe, I've eaten at a two star restaurant and they have nothing on Stone Soup. Cottage. From beginning to end this is a absolute treat and we're blessed to have a restaurant of this caliber in our area.

Angie C.

Yelp
The experience was amazing. Happy to see the COVID break didn't change anything. Food and wine were excellent and fun! My only complaint is as that our soufflé desserts weren't good. They had deflated and were eggy. Was sad after such an amazing dinner. However, would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion to anyone.

Yelp
Hands downs the best restaurant in Saint Louis.... There isn't a better place to take your special someone...

Yelp
The Stone Soup Cottage is an absolute hidden gem near downtown Cottleville, literally less than a mile from my front door. After numerous attempts to get a reservation (they sell out months in advance), we finally got to experience it for ourselves. We arrived 20 mins prior to the first course to take in the beautiful evening on their lovely patio, that overlooks a small pond. A wonderful spot to enjoy the sunset and enjoy a cocktail. The patio is large enough to accommodate everyone. Maximum seating capacity for this venue is 45, so be prepared for an intimate and lovely experience. The menu is fixed, with six courses, punctuated by a palate cleansing Norton berry sorbet Intermezzo after the third course. We opted for the wine paired wine flight as well, and we were not disappointed. Chef Carl greeted us with a brief introduction and delivery of a preview that was a petit filet appetizer. He was lovely and sincere, even though running the kitchen had to be on his mind the entire time. The staff was impeccable, always refilling water glasses when needed, clearing dishes, and delivering courses. Cocktails were delicious as well. The sommelier, Nancy, did a fantastic job pairing the wine with the various courses and provided useful information when discussing rationale for the selection. The dinner pace is leisurely, and great care is taken to ensure proper timing. This was greatly appreciated, as guests don't feel rushed. From start to finish, the dinner courses and dessert took about three to three and a half hours. If you're looking for a fine dining experience, look no further. Farm-to-table foods, grown right on site, beautiful surroundings, lovely staff, attentive chef and, delicious menu make choosing Stone Soup Cottage an easy decision.

Yelp
As always, exemplary!!!!! Took my wife and 2 other couples for my wives birthday. Everyone was extremely impressed. Food was exceptional and wine pairings spot on. Thanks Carl, Nancy and crew!!!

Yelp
There is no way to do this place and evening justice in a review. So here are some highlights. It is completely refined, yet casual and relaxing. Arrival is at 6:30, with a half hour to enjoy a drink inside or outside on a large patio overlooking a pond. All dozen or so tables get served starting promptly at 7 pm, with each subsequent course coming out together to everyone. One could describe courses as swordfish, prime rib medallions, scallop, etc. However, that would completely ignore everything that made each course so great, such as minced local mushrooms, special rouxes, greens and vegetables that came from the chef's own farm or local gardens, local meats, the (supposedly) best peaches in America from a Missouri peach orchard, and actual flowers picked from the chef's garden (that were delicious!). Back to the serving, the chef personally brings out most courses to your place, with a few assisting. We were served by the chef for 7 of 8 courses. And stealing this from a friend, "The chef looks deeply into your soul" while describing the course, it's ingredients and their source, and always finishing with a heartfelt, "bon apetit!" Don't be intimidated by the 11 utensils that are already set at your place when you arrive. Simply work from the outside in, with it usually being apparent when to use a fork or a spoon. The staff are discretely helpful in this. When the intermezzo sorbet was served, the server would simultaneously moved everyone's smallest spoon from the top of our setting to the side of the dish. And when I was served my smoked quail raviolis, I only used a fork, thinking I needed to save the last knife for my prim rib medallions. However, as the server cleared my plate, he quickly returned to quietly remove the knife I had not used (as he did for many others). This is because there are actually 12 total utensils, if you count the steak knife that was brought out with the prime rib medallions. Needless to say, the food was uniformly excellent, with complex flavors and extremely fresh (picked that day) ingredients. Service and atmosphere were similarly superb. And for only $100/person, plus an optional wine flight, it is actually quite a deal.

Yelp
Extremely disappointing. I expected much higher quality for $300. Outback serves much better food for a lot less money. We ordered the cottage to carriage dinner for four. The website said: - Our Housemade Rolls and Infused Butter - Chicken Consommé with Lentils, Winter Vegetables, and Spätzle - Lobster Stuffed Filet Mignon with Sauce Américaine and Mushrooms - Chocolate Pot du Crème with Dried Wild Strawberries The crescent rolls were okay but not at all flaky. Each order came with butter, but I don't think it was infused. I couldn't see any herbs in it and it tasted like plain butter. The chicken consommé was okay but each of us only received about 2 oz. of it. There wasn't a lot of flavor in it. The lobster stuffed filet mignon was the shocker. These were thin and very small filets. Petite filets at a steakhouse are usually the same diameter but almost twice as thick. The outside of the meat was gray and not brown. The stuffing was a pink paste. My entree had zero chunks of lobster meat. Lobster stuffed filets usually have lobster meat. This paste didn't taste like lobster. It didn't really have any flavor. The filet was tender but when you cut it the pink paste oozed out and it wasn't appetizing. The chocolate pot du creme was the most tasty item but a pudding snack pack would have been as good. I looked forward to this dinner for weeks. It was a tremendous disappointment.

Yelp
Driving up to the restaurant, you pass by open fields and farms which sets the scene perfectly for the experience you are about to partake in. This is not simply 'going to dinner', you need to set aside about 4 hours to enjoy the experience of it all. Anyway, driving up to the building along a mostly paved but still rustic road, you park your own car (valet not even necessary) and you overlook the farmland from where the chef gathers (most of) the vegetables used for service. It's beautiful landscape and you will want pictures of your own! Stepping inside you're greeted warmly and the soothing scent of something floral hits you, almost akin to stepping into a high end spa or the soap aisle of Whole Foods, you know what I'm talking about! Walking towards your table it is explained to you and encouraged to walk around between courses to have a look at all the pictures in the hallway of the old barn building before it was torn down. You're also encouraged to step outside to the back patio where you can overlook the pond with fountain and have a seat at a table for two, or sit at one of the couches as your drinks are prepared and brought to you. It's almost like experiencing a cocktail hour at a wedding. Since it was warm and humid when I visited, the fire pits were covered and the mushroom heater lamps were not in use. Service begins at 7pm and you are called in back to your table when that happens to the dining room which is elegantly decorated, with a comfortable country charm that somehow does not descend into a pretentious dining room feel at an elite country club. Simple, yet classy and quaint, nothing is overdone to the point of Disney World false facades. I must say every course is done with perfection and every effort is made to cater to dietary restrictions and all courses knocked it out of the park. Chef Carl comes around to your table personally during certain courses and presents the dish he and his surprisingly small team have created. Every dish is explained with pleasant and comforting tones and it's absolutely clear the chef knows his craft inside and out and has a passion for what he is doing, his excitement is apparent. Quite simply, the most prideful service I've ever been a part of, the people care here and they can't hide it if they tried. Walking through the hallways, you are able to catch a glimpse into the open kitchen and if you sit at the right table in the dining room like I had, you can take a peek through an old re-purposed wooden gate into the kitchen as well...a surprisingly non-frantic scene that allows you to come to the conclusion that this culinary team knows exactly what they are doing and why they are doing it, this isn't their first dinner service and it shows. As a home cook, I wanted to put on some whites and jump in there and help, just to be a part of it really. The kitchen is placed for the most part exactly at the center of the building, it is the true heart of the place, the engine room if you will that drives the rest of the service. I am so happy we have this establishment in the area, places like Le Bernadin get a run for their money to be honest, it's 5 star service without all the frou frou stuffiness of that midtown Manhattan joint (which is also great but also triple the price!). In my estimation, you're getting a bargain here. 2 minor points if any criticism exists: a) a drink I did not order was delivered to my table mistakenly but quickly corrected and b) it was a little cold in the dining room. My wife was cold, the lady behind me was cold, the lady in front of me was cold, all to the point where visiting the patio outside between courses became a necessity rather than an option, simply to warm up a little. I know it is a June dinner service but ladies putting on their cardigans should signal to the floor staff to either turn the fireplace on (maybe it was?) or turn the thermostat up a degree or two. In any event I would visit this restaurant monthly if I could, sadly my budget only allows for once a year but I highly recommend it. It was one of the better dining experiences I have ever had and I've been to a lot of fine services in my life, luckily and humbly I submit that fact to you. Well done and 5 stars!

Yelp
Solid showing, but not what we would consider the "best restaurant" in town. Our seating was on Valentines day, and everything was lack luster. For the$300+ we spent per couple, it was just, as the rating puts it "A-OK". It was a nice experience, but will not be attending this establishment again.

Yelp
What a joke. $150 for delivery to make myself? Covid or not your prices demand a superior experience, for special occasions. Delivery with reheating instructions is delusional.

Yelp
Best meal of our lives partly because of the dining experience in the just dark enough intimate but open setting which instantly relaxes, partly because the chef introduces each course to you individually and you can feel his passion for powerful food, partly because you are feeding off the same wonderful experience high everyone else is experiencing. We've eaten in a lot of different types of restaurants all over the world and stone soup cottage is hands down our favorite. Praying it can weather the Covid storm and get us all back comfortably tipsy inside with full bellies and stories to share. Cheers!

Yelp
This past Sunday we had the Stone Soup Cottage to Carriage delivered to our home. First let me say that the concept is brilliant in this crazy time! Whoever thought of this should be compensated well!!! You look at the calendar, choose a month you want to do it, pick a day, make a reservation, and they deliver your dinner to your door in a pretty box w/a bottle of wine to compliment the meal (and the wine was wonderful!). The box includes two wine glasses, linen napkins/rings a candle, and instructions on the prep of parts of the meal. We set the dining room for a formal dinner and enjoyed the delicious meal! Stone Soup you are the best! Thank you for a wonderful experience and we can't wait to see you in person again!! Gratefully, Lea Ann & Lynne

Yelp
Our dinner club dined here last weekend and it was a fantastic experience. By far one of the best meals I've ever had. Carl and his staff exceeded all of my expectations. Worth the drive and definitely worth the money. Each course was artfully presented and explained table side. I opted out of the wine pairings, but my Rosé paired perfectly with everything I ate. We all left satisfied and full. The location is breathtakingly beautiful. Definitely one of the most romantic places I've ever been, and everything about the night felt elegant. An after dinner drink and a tour of the grounds was the perfect way to end our evening. Thank you to their entire staff for making our night so wonderful. Can't wait to return. :)

Yelp
What a treat this meal was! I am so glad that Stone Soup Cottage is part of the St. Louis area dining scene. Set outside the city on a picturesque farm, it is not close to many St. Louisans. Nevertheless, worth the drive for this experience. I have never eaten a tasting menu before, but I think that Stone Soup has set the bar high. The intimate interior is well decorated, warm, and inviting. The servers are friendly, and the chef personally delivers every dish to your table, explaining each. Although each course is not a large portion, you will certainly not leave hungry. Every flavor was unique, and the whole meal offered a diversity of flavors yet showcased local ingredients. Rather than doing the wine pairing, our party of four selected a bottle of white and a bottle of red for the meal, which was perfect. Although the meal is not inexpensive, considering the price of other tasting menu experiences I've looked into, Stone Soup's pricing makes this experience accessible for a broader audience, which I think is important. I can't wait to go back in another season to try a different menu (they change the menu monthly!)

Yelp
Really nice spot I like Stone Soup, but would not put it at #1 in St Louis. Maybe #6-7 as there are many better places. I did like how the chef came out to describe each dish, and do not get me wrong - the food was great - just not the best in STL. On the downside - the wine pairing was not much to speak of for the price

Yelp
This restaurant is that good! Wonderful food, beautiful setting, excellent service and so unique that you must experience if you enjoy fine dining. The menu changes monthly and you can choose to do wine pairings for an additional $65 a person. While that does make this a very expensive meal, they do such a tremendous job you really must "go all in" if you're coming here anyway. The bar has the basics, but you will not find high end liquors or rare bourbons. Not that it matters here however. Every course was delivered by the chef who explained each dish and it's preparation. I can't even begin to describe the food and do it justice, however, I will say they prepared a swordfish in a way I didn't know possible. It was the best piece of fish I have ever had. The overall experience was remarkable and one that rates as one of the top in St Louis. Most folks won't be able to go much more than once, but you definitely need to go that one time!

Yelp
"Dining" doesn't begin to describe my experience of Stone Soup Cottage. What I really enjoy is watching a master at his craft. I am not exaggerating when I say the food, service, and every other aspect of the meal is flawless. Dietary restrictions that we had neglected to mention in advance (a one-time error on our part) were very kindly accommodated. The modified dishes were as flawless as the original versions. I know because I tasted both. I have dined there once a year for the past three years. Every time, I have left delighted with the food, appreciative of the very kind service, and with the same feeling of enrichment that I get from experiencing other fine art. This summer, they have their farm's produce (and honey!) for sale at a shed just outside the restaurant. It came as no surprise that the raw ingredients were of the highest quality. Despite rather extensive travel, I have not experienced this level of perfection anywhere else, regardless of the price.

Yelp
We had a phenomenal dinner experience. We were celebrating a birthday and we're not disappointed. The food is an excellent adventure, beautiful presented and a taste experience.

An incredible meal experience. The food is superb, the wine incredible and the staff is top notch. Expensive but worth every penny.

Yelp
Tremendous meal - by far the best I've had in Missouri (and probably top 5 in my life!). Beautiful setting. Service was incredible - all the staff were attentive, courteous and obviously proud of their wonderful restaurant. Food was amazing and lovingly presented and explained by the chef. Extremely memorable dining experience - we will be back. Thank you!

Yelp
I'm rating this restaurant 5 stars based on solely the food and service. The food was incredible. To be honest I could hardly pronounce any of the ingredients, but the chef was hand delivering our plates to us and describing exactly what he used. A couple of the memorable dishes were the Seared North Atlantic Scallops and the Cognac & Thyme Braised Short Ribs. Service was over the top, from the warm greetings as you walk in to how they fold your napkin back if you leave the table. They even replace your silverware if you accidentally use the 'wrong' spoon or fork. As we left, the chef was at the door thanking everyone. Now to the iffy parts for some people. It's not a place to go if you're expecting to get full. You would think for 90.00 you're getting a smorgasbord, but they're almost one bite dishes. It's more for just enjoying an intimate time with friends or a significant other, particularly for a special occasion. After the 90.00, they add drinks, gratuity, & etc. For a foodie like me, it was worth the experience and I had a great time. Could only do this once a year!

Yelp
True farm to table in St. Louis, on par with similarly positioned restaurants in California focused on procuring produce from nearby sources. Book a month plus in advance. Prix fixe menu only that regularly changes based on seasonality. I would recommend showing up 20-30 mins early to walk around the property and have an apéritif on the porch. Once you are seated, it's about a 2.5 hour dining experience. I have visited a healthy chunk of the acclaimed restaurants in the greater STL area, and this one was the arguably the most memorable- food, service and property. From top to bottom, all 6-8 dishes were top notch. French technique by the chef/owner who comes out to each table to explain each served dish. It's remarkable how they pull this off with such a lean team...bravo for their diligence and hospitality!
