"This tiny, tucked-away crab house in Curtis Bay has been serving up Maryland comfort food for decades, and the top draws are the steamed crabs, crab dip, and crab cakes. The restaurant underwent a renovation during COVID-19 and reopened with a spacious patio near Stoney Creek and the drawbridge. Steamed crabs remain on the menu through the first week of October." - Tierney Plumb, Tim Ebner

Google
How have I not reviewed this place before?! I have been coming here for 7 years because it is delicious. Nothing frilly or fancy, just great seafood and service. The ambiance is very casual with picnic tables outside. No need to dress up here. Some of my favorite dishes: crab pretzel, crab dip, hush puppies, both crab soups especially together, shrimp salad wrap, Stoney creek chicken sandwich, snow crab legs, chicken Chesapeake, stuffed shrimp, cucumber salad, sweet potato fries, and macaroni salad. And don't forget dessert, all delicious as well. Always ask for the dessert special of the day, last time it was carrot cake and it was fantastic. I recommend this restaurant 100% and I hope you give them a try.

Google
This is such a great little dive, right on the water. The service was great, the food was hot & tasty. I got a BLT with hush puppies & my Mom got fried shrimp & fries. We both shared a dessert special. We sat outside. It was a lovely time.

Google
The food in this place is really good, We ate crab imperial, crab pretzel, Maryland crab creamy soup, Steamed mussels. It has a seafood style.

Google
Small town feel with a big taste. It's not often to experience top-level service and friendliness now days. 5 stars on all levels

Google
I am in from Colorado to help set up the new local car wash and I knew I needed to try some crab cakes from around here before I left and this place did not disappoint! Very generous amount of crab and good side portions to go with my cup of Maryland crab soup. I got a side of tarter sauce, and while also good, it's not even needed. Also a nice friendly staff. I recommend this place fully and will be back before I leave!

Google
Great local place to grab great local food. Really friendly service too. Came for the crab cakes but everything ordered was delicious. Definitely recommend stopping by!

Google
This place may be a tad rustic, but their food and service sure isn't. I don't know if I've ever had such good service! We will definitely be back!

Google
Crab cakes delicious!!! Great atmosphere and great customer service!

Teri B.

Yelp
Wonderful meal good crab cakes lots of options. Our server Melody was attentive and friendly and helped to make our experience even better. We'd come back anytime. Waterfront location was a nice bonus, and several folks arrived by boat.

Yelp
Had a nice little dinner- service was friendly - I had simple soup and salad- I had ordered cream of crab but the waitress brought me Maryland crab soup- it was hot and tasty but basic- the salad was fresh - we also got fried oysters which was perfectly fried and seasoned- although hubby thought they didn't have enough oyster flavor-hubby got crab cake which was great Maryland favorite - onion rings were tasty and perfect and the fried shrimp also had a nice fry - ambience -roomy and clean - like nostalgic crab house should look

Yelp
Service! Employees have no clue. Rooms are terrible. Bed slants up to legs probably the mattresses have not been changed out in years. The restaurant employees don't know the menu telling customers things are available. Hire competent staff

Beth C.

Yelp
Such a fun, friendly place, great service, and delicious food! Beautiful location too - right on the water. Love their stuffed shrimp. Going back tonight for my birthday dinner - can't wait!

Yelp
Me and my Princesa visited the Stone Creek Inn Restaurant and when we were seated, we were informed that the place wasn't serving any hot "Steam Crabs." We drove 2 hours to visit this place because of the because we wanted to see how good the food was. However, the service was great, so the waiters made up for the disappointment I was hiding as I eating the bland food. I saw this restaurant on the Food Network show with, Guy. The food tasted bland! Will NOT be visiting this restaurant again! Wait 'til I see, Guy, from the Food Network show.

Yelp
A great place for dinner. There's outdoor seating that has a view of the water. We got a dozen raw oysters, dozen jumbos, steamed shrimp, hush puppies, snow crab legs and grilled chicken dinner. The seafood was delicious and our server was delightful. The crabs were extremely heavy and meaty. Oysters were fresh served over ice and the hush puppies were tasty. I would def recommend this place for a good meal.

Yelp
The food here was great. I got the cream of crab soup bowl and hush puppies. Both of them were great. The service was great and our server was friendly and funny. The ambiance was good and fit what they were serving.

Ang E M.

Yelp
The best crab toast and "half & half" crab soup around! A great, local gem with delicious seafood and cozy atmosphere by the water. We love it here!

Yelp
I wish I liked this place more. My husband and I dined in one time since we live in the area and this spot is always busy. We sat outside and ordered a sandwich and a seafood platter. The food wasn't bad. The flies outside we so unbearable that it was the topic of conversation the entire time. It has been a bit since we dined in so I wonder if they have rectified this situation. Even if they had my favorite food ever, I wouldn't be jumping to go there because the bugs were on everything the entire meal.

Kathy C.

Yelp
This is an old-school restaurant and I haven't been here in a long time. Now I am wondering why! Food was very good, the atmosphere was friendly, and the service was friendly although a tad slow. We were seated on the outside patio and there was a nice view of the marina in the rising moon. There was a light breeze so it was a little cool and I did get a jacket from my car. (The heat lamps were not turned on that evening). I ordered the bacon wrapped scallops with brussels sprouts and a baked potato. My husband ordered the flash fried scallops with onion rings and sweet potato fries. We both paired our meals with dogfish head's Hazy O and it went well with meal. We were both very happy with our dinners at the Stoney Creek Inn.

Dave E.

Yelp
Beautiful dinner and Service. Portabella and crab cake special (2) Fried shrimp dinner and sampler.

Rita C.

Yelp
The special deserts are the best. I've had the carrot cake -my personal favorite, the Oreo cookie cheesecake, and, bread pudding. All exceptional. Oh yeah fried shrimp and crab soup is god too. But I order dessert first.

Marri G.

Yelp
Food was delicious. My servant husband did not do a 5 star job cracking my crab legs. I had shell in my crab meat and for that he will be punished. Our pickle shots were tasty. Desserts were amazing. Love how the patio is completely covered so we were able to enjoy outdoor dining in the rainy weather. It's very family friendly and inviting with very friendly servers.

Anne H.

Yelp
The staff were all pleasant and helpful, making this a very pleasant experience! We asked for a couple of modifications to the meals and they were made very much to our liking. For one, I ordered the snow crab legs. The menu stated that they would be seasoned with J.O. Seasoning which seems to be completely wrong. Alaskan Snow Crab is supposed to be sweet, not spicy! The crab came out just as I liked it. My wife ordered the rockfish with crab in a creamy imperial sauce. She cannot tolerate a heavy cream sauce so the waitress promised to go east on the sauce. The meal was perfect! It took a long time to eat the crab legs as we talked and enjoyed the time out. Before we noticed it, the restaurant closed and the staff "Let their hair down" as they cleaned up. They did not rush us at all and it was like eating in someone's family. It was very sweet! We enjoyed our time, enhanced by the perfectly cooked meal and pleasant staff. We will be back and recommend that others try it as well.

Katherine W.

Yelp
I love their fried oyster dinner or sandwich. I liked their oysters better than Mike's North or South. Their service is always excellent. I take my four year old great nephew. He loves to sit outside to see the boats. I go regularly and order the fried oyster dinner. I also enjoy the appetizers. I get both 1 & 2 combinations. I highly recommend the food. Everyone I've taken there had enjoyed their meal. I give them a five star review.

Mike H.

Yelp
Food was good and service was great as well. I recommend trying the crab cake but I have had the soup and the burger and they were great too

Sterling R.

Yelp
Best experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The service was so good. Almost as good as the food! Will definitely be back againand bringing more people with me next time!!!

Jessica G.

Yelp
Little local place for MD seafood favorites right before the creek bridge on Fort Smallwood. We just moved close by and have driven past it not realizing there was a restaurant there. They have indoor and covered outdoor seating with a decently sized menu. We got a crab pretzel appetizer, Stoney chicken sandwich, and a MD meatball sub which was one of the specials. All three were delicious. The crab pretzel was the VIP of the 3, soft and fluffy with a generous amount of dip and cheddar on top. Great service and reasonable prices too!

Bill S.

Yelp
Even when they are busy, it's a very comfortable laid back local place , a hidden gem. I've only been a few times but the food and service both times were great! I'll Definitely be back

Kevin K.

Yelp
Visiting from Phoenix and found this place via Yelp only 4 mins from our daughters home....OMG ....sooooo good! Had the Crab Imperial and was amazing. Went back the next day for their crab soup.....again amazing. Great staff, excellent service. Can't wait to come back!!

Kyle N.

Yelp
The food here is great! Our waitress was extremely kind and did a great job of being attentive. The ambiance is nice, outdoor seating is great and is covered with fans. The crab balls, jalapeños poppers and crab dip are awesome!

Karen B.

Yelp
Visited last Thursday. Cream of crab was full of crab lumps. My sister and I both had a crab cake and a side. They serve their beverages (water, soda, iced tea) in HUGE pitchers.

Meg P.

Yelp
Seafood chains try & copy the atmosphere & look of the Stoney Creek Inn. This is the real deal for a Maryland crab house! I got the traditional crab cake sandwich which was incredible! True lump crab with minimal mayo, just a bit of celery served on a brioche bun. YUM!! The crab shined through because it was not over seasoned. Folks around us were picking crabs & they looked big & delicious (I'm not big into picking ). I almost got the orange roughy because it looked amazing & not drowning in butter but the crab won. Not into seafood? You're in luck because the burger is fresh & big! I can't wait to go back & try it with a beer!

Charles S.

Yelp
Love this place, seafood is great. Shrimp Salad and the seafood casadias are excellent.

Allison N.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I love coming here. The service is great and quick! Food is amazing too! It's very comfortable in the restaurant as well.

Yelp
My family and I came here towards the end of May to celebrate my niece's high school graduation. We sat outside (covered) at one of the long picnic tables. - Crab Dip with homemade tortilla chips: Very yummy. It was piping hot. The chips were delicious. - Stoney Chicken Sandwich (Old Bay grilled, topped with crab dip and bacon) on brioche roll, with onion rings: I asked for lettuce, tomato, and mayo on my sandwich but didn't get any of that. The chicken was juicy. The onion rings were crispy and good. - Munchies #1 (chicken tenders, crab balls, potato skins): My mom ordered this appetizer for her meal. The chicken tenders were fine. The crab balls were a little overdone. The potato skins were way overcooked and dry. - Stoney Burger (topped with crab dip and bacon) with coleslaw: My dad enjoyed the burger, but said he'd get it without the crab dip on top next time. The burger was flavorful and juicy. He enjoyed the coleslaw. Half of the party ordered 2 Munchies #3 (chicken tenders, crab balls, potato skins, fried shrimp, onion rings, hush puppies) for the table as their meals. There were no complaints. The service was pretty good. Our server didn't bother us too much. He stopped by from time to time to get refills and make sure we were doing alright. The parking lot is pretty tight. There aren't too many spots, so the lot can fill up quickly. I'm not too sure if there was and overflow lot. We will certainly return!

Stephanie S.

Yelp
The view, service and food are always great. Great outdoor seating. Crab cakes are excellent.

Bri F.

Yelp
Oh my gosh! This is by far the best place we've tried in Maryland! Please stop here and have their peel and eat shrimp, any of their sandwiches and do NOT forget to get a piece of their cheesecake! It was absolutely outstanding! I cannot rave enough about it! Our server, Sammie, was one of the best people ever! She was on top of our food, beverages and desserts! We didn't have to wait for our food, which is great because we have kiddos! The restaurant is clean and well taken care of! You can tell by how well maintained the floors and bathrooms are! I'd rate this restaurant a 10/10. We WILL be back!

lori t.

Yelp
Great place on the water with wonderful staff to make sure you are taken care of right.

Caitlin A.

Yelp
This place rocks. Don't miss out. Every single time we have been there, the service has been phenomenal. Delicious food, great prices. Hidden gem.

Sarah C.

Yelp
Perfect place to crack some crabs. Super friendly staff, comfortable shaded patio, and heavy & delicious steamed crabs (we ordered mediums). Had a great time and will definitely be back!

Ken L.

Yelp
I stopped in for dinner in summer 2011 and just now realized I never uploaded a picture. I think pretty much anything you get here will be good. I would come back again, but I see they are temporarily closed right now. Hopefully they'll be able to reopen soon.

Kelly R.

Yelp
Food was ok. The people there were working hard. Short staffed any trying. Building is dated but clean

Ray L.

Yelp
Where do I begin Super Super Nice Staff to start with so accommodating to there customers! And we were a hand full they let us come in to decorate table for our friends surprise b-day! We sat outside and there outside area is so nice felt completely safe! Our Waitress Morgan was soooo much fun and we felt she was part of our party! Lol I will enclose pics at end of review but if you go there ask for Morgan she's one of the best Waitresses I have encountered since all this pandemic she didn't complain she was hot because mask which we know she was I felt bad she had to wear it! But she looked cute with it! Lol never saw her touching it or pulling it up or down like a lot of places you go the staff is taking mask down to there chin and touching there faces! But not here this place so clean! Bathroom spotless! Food here never disappoints! Never ever had anything bad tasting here! Today I had Shrimp Salad there and it was delicious just right amount of mayo! And sweet potato Fries were hot and tasty and cucumber salad was sweet & tangy very good! Again I want to thank Morgan for making our Day!!

Jane G.

Yelp
Great old-timey crab house. In the water with indoor/outdoor seating. The cream of crab was divine, loaded with crab and perfectly seasoned. Menu full of seafood apps, sandwiches and entrees. Non seafood as well. I enjoyed a turkey club w/hand cut fries. Husband ate the oyster po'boy and sautéed broccoli rabe. Don't hesitate to try this place.

Mike C.

Yelp
My wife likes this place and wanted to return, so we did, with a party of 7. Our waitress did not write down any part of our order. This prompted her to return to the table 2 separate times to verify side items for 2 different people at our table. Also, our appetizer order of wings never made the table, to which she apologized and told me that it was "her bad" and offered to put them back on our order after our entree's were on the table. The picture below is supposedly sweet potato fries. The non burnt basket was brought out due to the rest of them being burnt.

Charles M.

Yelp
What an great seafood spot by the water. You can see the boats in the marina next to the restaurant. Across the street there are more bodies of water and the staff is pretty cool. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for something light to eat. The soup was the best I've had in a few years and the chips were great also. I will go back a few more times to try the crabs and other seafood.

Lucy Y.

Yelp
Food was wonderful and just like everywhere else in this country a little short staffed but was worth every penny .

Laura P.

Yelp
By far THE BEST shrimp salad I've ever had. And they won't give up the recipe, so i guess im going back! Be sure to catch them on Diners, Dives, and Drives!Shrimp Salad Sandwich

Rebecca L.

Yelp
We came here after seeing it on Drive-In Diners and Dives. We came around 5pm and there was already a good crowd there. The place only got busier as the night progressed. We didn't order any steamed crabs to pick as it wasn't in season, but we did get the crab cake and stuff shrimp. Super tasty and good sized portions! Their cucumber salad was on point and the crab cake was not full of fillers. You could see all the large lumps of crab. We can't wait to go back in the summer when the crabs are fat and ready for picking!

Ilene H.

Yelp
The service and management were wonderful. The sides were good. I recommend that you do not order fried shrimp, fish fillet sandwich, nor the crab cakes. For being near the water, why did all the fish we ordered taste so old? Worst crab cakes I've ever had in Maryland.

Tona I.

Yelp
Damn good crab cakes the Md way, and they support local waterman. Had sauté squash n zucchini with my sandwich and it was the very best! Gotta try their homemade old bay chips! Bam

Kathleen M. Horrigan T.

Yelp
Service great, nice view in summer, heated outdoor space for chilly nights, food could improve, not consistent, may be burnt to under done. Needs to improve quality of food. Steamed shrimp in small and sometimes mushy. A better quality of shrimp could go a LONG way for this place!

Heather J.

Yelp
Love this place! Great atmosphere and foods. I can't believe we haven't been here before and it's only 5 mins away from us! Highly recommend.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Very disappointed. We are regulars and usually love the place, despite portion size getting smaller and prices going up. We like to support local. Today, however, was enough for us to never go back. We called to see if they could accommodate 9 since we know their place is small. They said yes and the employee even confirmed with the manager that they would hold a table for us since we would be there in a few minutes. Employee took my name and number and said would call if something changed. We showed up 5 minutes later and the employee said they gave our table away and asked if we wanted to squeeze into one of the small places instead! We were livid! We had someone disabled with us and had to get them back in the car elsewhere.

Robert T.

Yelp
Great service, very friendly staff! The food is good, the turkey club is terrific!! The cream of crab soup is out of this world!

K C.

Yelp
Had medium steamed crabs, were a good price & size Stuffed shrimp were ok, crab had a strong mustard taste that I did not like very much Were seated quickly on a Saturday, sat inside

Marianne S.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience. From the soup to the appetizer to the entrees and the drinks everything was delicious. Our waitress Jamie was amazing, friendly and timely! Do yourself a favor and visit this wonderful, local estaishment!

Amber M.

Yelp
This place is a MUST VISIT if you haven't or are going to be in the area. The owners are amazing people and their menu is perfect for everyone including picky eaters and foodies alike. I haven't had anything bad here. I would definitely suggest the crab cake sandwich with their jalapeño potato salad and their Stoney Creek Salad with shrimp and ask for them to put their cucumber salad on top in place of a traditional dressing, you won't regret it.

Ellen R.

Yelp
From the Formstone exterior to the fries and gravy menu item, this place screams local! Stoney Creek Inn is a relatively small space that's large on character. It's a place that I wished I'd known about ages ago. Local crabs were expertly steamed, meaty, and delicious. Local, from the Eastern Shore, corn was also great in that one of the best things about summer way. Service is friendly and competent. While I didn't drink, I appreciated the large selection of local beers and also the local college radio station playing in the background. Prices for crabs, at least, were on par with what I pay in the southeast section of Baltimore for carryout. Crab soup was a bit of a let down. It wasn't bad, just very average. Everything else though, has me plotting my return.
