14 Best New Bars to Try in San Francisco Right Now

"As of early February, the Blue Room is serving live music and classic cocktails. The Nob Hill bar comes from the same folks behind Stookey’s Club Moderne, which is located just next door. But unlike that bar, the Blue Room aims to offer a quieter experience — a dedicated place to enjoy a drink like an Aviation or Sidecar alongside a healthy dose of jazz." - Dianne de Guzman, Eater Staff

Google
Great small spot for live music without a cover fee. You might not get a seat in the music room right away during prime time but they free up throughout the night. There's a decent amount of bar seating.

Very intimate live music bar! The performance was awesome and the drinks (including non-alcoholic) were good! Only sour point was this woman who came in to the bar during the second half and started chatting up a random guy at the bar so loudly it was hard to hear the music. Like there are plenty of bars where you can go to talk why come to a live music bar where people have paid to hear the music not your personal life.... The establishment should have done a better job of asking her to shush.

Google
Absolute gem of a place with great drinks and friendly service. It’s got a great old school jazz club vibe. Looking forward to going back on a night they have live music. Highly recommended.

Google
Very friendly and accommodating. The live music is great and since the venue is small you're right there in the middle of the music!

Yelp
Lovely experience in a diner style bar, with a male and female singer with beautiful voices, a pianist and a drummer. You book individual seats - interestingly a group had booked all the seats against the wall across several small tables. So my partner and I sat kind of next to each other, at chairs at small tables next to each other, while a couple was a cross the table from us at the continuous booth. We are in our early 40s and were probably the youngest folks there to give you a sense of the crowd, but everyone was having fun and enjoying themselves! Drinks were just ok: New York sour - 3 stars Chai Old Fashioned - 2.5 stars Penicillin - 3.5 stars

Yelp
We went to this spot after visiting another bar in the area. We were a group of 13 and when we got there was still pretty empty. The musician had already finished performing for the night at 10pm. I asked the bar tender if he could put on some personal songs for us while we were the only ones in the back bar area but he was not accommodating to my request at all. I only asked while no other customers were around. We were buying plenty of cocktails from him and felt he could have at least played a few for us. He kept it to his personal play list. What happened to keeping the customers happy.

Yelp
It's great that Stookey's Blue Room also now hosts DJ Shindog (Steve Indig) who brings an eclectic mix of New Wave & Dance Club tunes to the small but lively dancefloor. Friendly, intimate venue with a great bar and near so many great dinner options. I'll be back again soon!

Yelp
Here visiting San Fran and of course wanting to visit all the cocktail lounges. This place is recently opened as a branch off from the bar next door. It was right by our hotel, a very safe place far from the homeless. The drinks are strong and Adam was a great bartender and conversationalist. It's definitely a more local area which I love. However my only issue is that there doesn't seem to be a real theme. From the 80s movies playing, to random music, to the almost 50s style bar, complete with uranium glass display...I love the blue disco ball lights but it's not creating an environment I want to chill at for hours. Huge potential and like I mentioned great drinks for reasonable prices.

Yelp
Incredible list of vintage cocktails and something on special/seasonal each month. Amazing line up of live jazz and cabaret acts. Friendly bartenders, everyone helpful and nice. Old school vibes.
