I don't know much about Long Island, except that it's way, way too long, with way, way too many people causing way, way too much traffic.
But I'm pretty sure this is the best grocery store to stock up on all the foodstuffs you're going to need on Fire Island. Well, they've got everything I needed at least:
1. Meat. At first I was pretty worried that their lack of skirt steak was going to ruin my fajita night plan, but my man Lenny behind the butcher counter handled his biz, and we were good to go.
2. Beer.
3. All the condiments.
4. A solid selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, including shredded cabbage for making cole slaw that is literally the only thing I've ever found before my wife did.
5. Free samples. Thinking about fajitas, and ribs, and hot dogs, and all of that had me pretty hangry, and a nice lady was over in the deli selection with a beautiful tray of different turkeys, meats, and cheeses. (She did look a bit traumatized when I stacked them all on top of each other and shoved them all into my mouth at once, so we bought some of her cheese. It was good and cheesy.)
