Today is wednesday January 7, 2026. This store is still selling expire bagels in the aisle.

This is actually a pretty decent stop&shop. It's close to Brigham&women's hospital. It's up an elevator. I don't come here all that frequently but I come here for bone in country pork. This location usually has a really good selection of it. This location is way better than the Brookline location (that location is horrendous). I don't do much shopping here, but if I need a stop&shop then I come to this one.

The female store manager is the rudest individual I have ever met. No professionalism what's so ever! I called to ask a simple question and it turned into an argument match.

Highly recommend not buying ANYTHING fresh or produce related here. Everything I have bought here from grapes, to carrots, to cold cuts, to bread has either made me sick or gone bad quickly or just generally not felt like the best quality. Would recommend shopping anywhere else for produce.

Check expiration dates on everything you buy here. I’ve had too many issues with bad dates and slipped up today thinking chips would be fine. I bought these on 1/3/2025 and they expired a month ago.

We should reset prices to 1950 range. Our taxes need not be so much when we print our own money. We shouldn't borrow from countries we give cash to we print. Store will be better after we get rid of90% of the fed

The stocks are little as is the store itself. Having a hard time just getting milk sometimes. Produce has degraded faster than most place I shop at. Plenty of parking but possibly due to lack of interest and better options a few minutes drive towards brookline. Go for it, if you're traveling by foot but if you're picky like me... maybe not.

Mold inside the fresh produce section. The tomato was bogo, but doesn’t mean the store should be selling moldy tomatoes. Huge health violations. I told the guy that works there and he only remove the single box that has mold. As you know, mold can definitely spread and not being visible to the eyes. With these fresh produce easily consumed raw without needing to be cooked, this is very concerning.

Edit: Erik showed up 40 minutes after the first page and was able to pleasantly resolve the return issue by returning it himself. So I edited this rating to a 4 star rather than a 1 star to reflect his honest and professional attempt to resolve the issue. That being said, it is still illegal to be preventing customers from returning items and while I do understand the multiple issues at hand with the shortstaffedness etc, at least one of the few employees still needs to be retrained to hold both a refund and purchase line to respect state law for accepting store returns. Also, the staff do need to be retrained to not rudely refuse customers who are insisting they need to return items or telling them the customer service desk would supposedly be open 8a-8p daily when it is basically closed for three days straight. ___ original review___ This Stop n Shop was going to be reported to Massachusetts state law as they were refusing to honor customers' ability to refund. I frequent this Stop n Shop often and only recently found out their Customer Service area is "closed for days" and has only been open for a few hours according to the staff working here. Unfortunately, they refused to page the manager until I made a stand, and then even after paging the manager Erik multiple times, no one responded still. This is COMPLETELY illegal to prevent a customer who brought their items and their receipt and original payment of method from physically being able to return items. It's 6 pm on a FRIDAY, there should absolutely be a way to return my items.

Last night, 07/18/2025, I was shopping at your Stop & Shop store located at 1620 Tremont Street, Boston, MA 02120. One of your store security employees falsely and maliciously accused me of shoplifting, even though I was in the self-checkout line. The person who approached me was a black male about 5ft 9in, with a mustache, about 25 years old. Mind you, I spent a total of $127.74 at your store last night! Your security employee stalked me in the store, yelling: "You are a thief!" He yelled this in front of several customers and employees. I tried to explain to this individual, I'm still inside your store, I'm still shopping. He continued to humiliate and berate me while I was still paying for my groceries! Your manager, "Angie," did absolutely nothing but smirk, laugh in my face! After I paid for my groceries, the same store security followed me outside the store into the parking lot and continued to threaten me! This is the second time this idiot falsely accused me of theft without any proof or purpose! I complained to a Stop&Shop management personnel named "Abraham," but nothing was done about his behavior towards me! I spend about $400.00 per week at this particular Stop & Shop location on average. I do not receive any federal subsidies. I work in bank wire fraud compliance, here in Boston. I reside in Brookline, MA. And I have never, ever been accused of any theft or misconduct at any of your other Stop & Shop locations. Your store security employee has closed the line! Accusing me of theft without proof will lead to serious legal consequences! Continuing to accuse me of theft without evidence will result in defamation claims against this Stop & Shop employee and the Stop & Shop corporation. Making unsubstantiated accusations against me will lead to legal problems such as harassment or malicious prosecution. The consequences of being wrongfully accused and threatened by your employee are very serious! I will be contacting my attorney. Enough is Enough!

every time i try to log in to my stop & shop account it's with an issue. Don't know what the IT dept is tryng to do but why is it only S&S that has this issue. from the start there was a problem with my store acct asking me if it was my pharmacy acct. I never signed up for a pharm acct. Trying to navigate through the weekly add has been another issue. I have accounts with many deptartment stores and supermarkets and S&S is the only website that has issues and finally I just leave it. So right now I logged in and wasn't able to view the weekly add and logging out was opposite from every other site. Does the IT person setting this site have dyslexia .....just set up the website and make it workable please you're not going to win any awards for sure.

One day I needed some toilet paper and there is a Stop & Shop down the road from my house. I thought it would be a good idea to go down to Stop & Shop and restock on toilet paper because I was running low. I walked in and it seemed nice. there were many food items and useful other items once I got to the toilet paper I saw many homeless people living in the shelves. I am not kidding. This is not a joke. There was humans lying in the shelves after that I needed the toilet paper so I grabbed it and I walked to the drinks aisle. I was in there and I could see another homeless person taking a dump in the corner and I'll just tell you right now. It was a puddle and it was nasty. Never go to Stop & Shop if you don't see many homeless people taking dumps pissing and living in the shelves. Good Oreos tho

Seriously overpriced items, actually let's call it what it is,price gouging . Even the Dedham store is priced lower,than the store in mission hill. It's ridiculous‼

I read the reviews for this place and was expecting the worst but I went in took pick up a last minute dinner and it was actually super pleasant and calm, some people just like to nag!

Bad , food, lines, frozen food section, seafood section is awful and unkept. Stop and shop is over priced and not worth the high price.

The staff at the Stoughton store is very nice and helpful. I always shop online and pickup my order, and a Stop & Shop employee brings it out to my car. My only complaint is that they should check the expiration dates when shopping for the online orders. I occasionally receive expired products but they're easy to "return" via the app. On the few occasions that I had to contact the store staff with a problem, they're always extremely accommodating.

I feel somewhat obligated to review this Stop & Shop, since I've been coming here for over a year and it's my regular grocery store. But God, I wish it wasn't. It's only because of how convenient the location is for me. More often than not, everything is poorly stocked. At times, they have been out of pretty standard items (especially produce), like green onions or red onions. The lines are frequently long. At least one of the self-check out lines never works. Most of the employees aren't helpful or nice, although there have been rare exceptions to this. All-in-all, if you have the option to do your grocery shopping somewhere else, do that. This Stop & Shop should only be used as a last resort.

Great grocer. Sales are reasonable. You need the app to get the sales. This is my go to grocer in Boston area.

What an incredibly rude security staff. The road to the parking lot is closed and when I asked security, on the intercom I'm under the building, where I should park, their answer was (very rudely) "Well I don't know what to tell you!" Just an awful experience.

Stop&Shop in Brigham Circle is a bit different than other nearby locations, this store is considerably smaller than all the others and it has much much less variety. While it is surely convenient for those living around, the other Stop&Shop Supermarkets have more variety and more selection in all departments. With only ten aisles and little space throughout, it's tough to be able to find everything one would need here for one stop shopping, which is the main reason to go to Stop&Shop. They advertise the "Super Stop&Shop" model as stores that are places for customers to go for one stop shopping, which this place is far from. Sure, it's fine for a few essentials and possibly a few extras here and there, but very underwhelming in comparison to other grocery stores, especially other Stop&Shop stores. For the positive end, this store is clean, renovated, and organized. It also appeared fairly fully stocked throughout the store. Overall, it's okay, but similar to the Brookline Stop&Shop, it's not a place that makes shopping easy. It's like I have to go to either another Super Stop&Shop to get everything I need (which defeats the purpose of originally coming here), or ten other small stores to get everything. Okay for essentials and convenience, but not much more. 2 stars. Meh.

We've been coming to this stop n shop location for about 4 years now. I was surprised seeing all the low yelp scores for this place. Pros: -location: very close to buses and train -usually well stocked Cons: -workers are not helpful in finding specialized products -small store -lots of students -produce is a hit or miss, go on Saturday morning to get fresh produce -long lines But overall,you can get your shopping done at stop n shop.

I have to say, a few months ago I hated coming here. Since the renovation and everything it is now my preferred grocery shopping location! I just wish they sold big containers of baby arugula.

Employees are nice but the produce is extremely overpriced. Maybe it's because they seem to be the only grocery store in this walkable area. Mask wearing isn't enforced as there is not enough surveillance for the number of people shopping (under your nose is NOT mask wearing). They also added the precaution of one-way lanes, which no one really follows.

First of all let me be blunt great area colleges around that area great store but horrible security people my experience dates back two months ago where i used scan it a feature by stop and shop the security guard on duty accuse me of stealing the items in my cart I have not returned to the store nor will I ever I will continue to shop at Stop & Shop no matter what but this store let me down I even had my receipt in hand and the person the security person basically still accusing me of stealing the on-duty manager at the time did nothing I will not come back to the store in my opinion I will since the implementation of security guard to stop and shop the store has gone down the tube in Boston that's why I go to the South Shore there is no Security guards there And half your staff is not knowledgeable about the store you need to train people much more better

I have shopped at Stop and Shop for years they are pricey but they had the best meat department. This new prepackaged meat is not my favorite I miss the meat cutters. Needless to say after the steak I got this weekend you have lost a customer.

A real neighborhood market. This location is so convenient, I am there 2 or 3 times a week picking up a couple of things as well as doing my regular grocery shopping. I always run into people I know there and have enjoyable conversations with the other shoppers. Not the cheapest market but who has an hour or two to take the bus/subway out of town to buy groceries. (I am price sensitive which is why I give 4 not 5 stars) These are my observations: Constant turn over of inventory, so everything is fresh. Fruits and veggies are always fresh. The produce workers have dug into the pile of goods they are stocking and given me specific items when I've asked. Staff has always been helpful to me. The head cashier is excellent and I noticed she has accommodated long term neighborhood residents who have issues functioning in the regular check out line and she knows when Seniors need assistance. I've asked the managers questions and they have always been helpful. They also allowed my neighborhood organization do community outreach in the lobby. Thanks to the large number of students in the area, it must have the biggest selection of frozen pizza and ice cream in the city, comparable to the Super Stop and Shop in the South Bay. However, given the number of students, it may need more space for ramen noodles. It also caterers to those picking up meals after work. The rotisserie chickens are usually well cooked. The 20% Wed. Sushi is the only reason i can afford to eat Sushi. It's good, fresh and varied. The toilet is a little hit or miss. It's the only public toilet in the area (Thank you, Stop and Shop) so you got to take your chances. Given the small size, it has a wide variety of food stuffs.

I only go to this grocery store because my dorm is like a 10 minute walk away from it. It is a sad case because I want to eat healthier, I want to eat my fruits and vegetables. When I come here all of the fruits and vegetables are either already rotten or not yet ripe. I went to buy red grapes and the ones that looked good enough to eat were so covered in this white type of residue that I couldn't even buy them. The bananas weren't ripe and then when I brought them to my dorm I went to eat one about 2 days later and it was about to rot. However, last semester when I was sticking to a very unhealthy diet, eating cookies and chips I never had to problem with expiration dates. I think it is sad that this location cannot sustain an adequate stock of fresh fruits and vegetables but can retain an adequate stock of candy, cookies, chips and soda. Also, the staff is so unhappy. I was rushing around the store shopping before I had to go to class and a worker stocking shelves in the aisle was all in my way, he didn't even care and he walked with such a sad slump you'd think he was being held at gunpoint to still work there. I love the self checkout but of course some times the machines go crazy. When I need a worker to assist me, 95% of the time the worker is unhappy and rolls their eyes when they have to come to you for something as simple as a scale error. I work at a grocery store myself but it is just too expensive for me to shop there on a college budget, but I think I WILL pay the extra amount to have my fresh fruits and vegetables and positive workers. I only gave two stars because I can buy my toilet paper here and I haven't gotten food poisoning from any of the food yet.

I ordered through the online pickup. The expected pick up time was 5, so I get there at 5. We call the number posted on the front of the pickup lockers and the store answers and says that the person that was doing the online orders left the store, therefore my pick up wasn't ready. They said they could get it done in 30-60 minutes. Why would I want to wait in the store for them to do it since I'm already there? I don't have a car I could just chill in I took the train there. So I went to customer service and they directed me to the online order people. I asked if there was anyway I could get a refund and just do the shopping myself and they told me that MAYBE I could get a refund, but they were able to cancel the order. I was in a rush to make dinner and didn't have the time to wait for them so I had to do that. Still waiting for the refund, but I had to pay for the groceries I shopped myself. They also didn't have the starburst I wanted so that just made me more upset. Very disappointed and store was so unorganized.

I love this place! It's more like 4.5/5 though. It's only got a few flaws. I love the self checkout, the variety of food and fresh food and meats they have! Sometimes this store will be out of stock of a ton of stuff...only occasionally. The lines get super long during busy times like right after work.

Your tomatoes are either rotten or too expensive. Your greens are wilted and the ones in the bags are slimy already. Your deli counter makes me nervous. Your seafood should NOT smell like that. Your 'bakery fresh' bread should not be hockey puck tough. Your regular customers are fucking scary. Your baggers don't understand that I brought my own bags. Your Coinstar machine hates me and my pennies. But you are on my way home from work and I can't help but falling in love with you all over again every time I want a frozen pizza and need to get more kitty litter.

This is the closest grocery to where I live. Nothing ever changes though, it's had exactly the same products for the 3 years I've been living here. I wish they were a bit more experimental. The deli is a frustrating experience. The guys working are SLOW!!!! probably because they get paid minimum wage and don't give a f whether or not they serve 30 people or 200 in a day. SLOWEST deli experiences of my life. I used to work in a hectic, fast paced fish market where people wanted stuff done very specifically, and I was able to bang customers out quickly... so to see it take some drop-out with his pants hanging under his ass EXPOSING HIS SKIDMARKS 10 minutes to slice me half a pound of turkey... it's very frustrating. I've pretty much stopped eating deli meats because it's too annoying to wait. Ditto goes for the customer service counter - slow and BITCHY women working it. Lots of losers in line arguing about scratch tickets. I also have never bought seafood from there because they make me feel like I'm burdening them by asking to know where the littleneck clams are coming from. "Um, I don't know." - and when I ask "could you find out?" they go soooo slowly and then still don't have an answer. Here's a tip - there's a state-required tag on the inside of EVERY bag of shellfish that says exactly where they're from, who caught them, and when... so do me a favor and read it. Or better yet, be knowledgeable about the product in advance! Ahh well, like I said. Minimum wage - minimum service. F&(*$ stop & shop. They charge enough that they should be able to pay the help better. And the stop and shop card specials only prove that the rest of the time they're just overcharging you for stuff. The only reason I even shop there is to get things that other stores brands just don't cut it (I need my hellman's mayo and my cheerios). Be prepared to have your groceries rung up by an unhappy, angst filled teenager, with no "hello" or "thank you" in the process, no matter how kind or cordial you are to them. One thing: Stop and Shop generally has good fresh pineapples. I love pineapples and find theirs to be most consistent (over whole foods and trader joe's).

4 stars - not because it's a great store, but because it is the closest grocery store to work and is usually open till midnight!!!!! Yes, thats right - no more panic at 10:30 when I realize that there is no where around lab to get food.... I just head over to stop & shop, pick through what they have and feed myself. huzzah! Although they might not have everything you want, but it's fairly large and has parking. Plus you get to see drug deals on the way in if you go late enough! Dinner and a show....

This Stop & Shop is about a 4 minute walk from my apartment, so I go there a few times each week for groceries. I'll start with the postives: 1) Discount meat! Apparently they don't sell their meat fast enough, so the day before it expires you can get a great deal. For instance a pack of store brand sausage that's usually $3.99 might be on sale for $2.99 and then you get $2 off that price because it's expiring. I either eat it that day or freeze it. They have a ton of expiring meat everyday; much more than the average store. Awesome. 2) Free samples. If you shop there earlier in the day (between 10am and noon), there's usually some sort of free sample. It's actually just excess from when they make their platters, but nevertheless it's nice of them to put it out. Now the bad (in no particular order): 1) The staff is clueless. Why do they need to take me on a marathon around the store when I ask where something is located? 2) The deli is BEYOND SLOW. They're too busy talking with each other to be productive. It's not even that busy in there; can't you do that in between customers?? Once I tried their new system where you can order at a screen: "Your order will be ready in 25 minutes". I just needed cold cuts and bread, so am I supposed to walk around and waste time? There was only one person in line in front of me... I just grabbed a presliced package and left. Ain't nobody got time for that. 3) The main door closes at 9pm so you have to awkwardly squeeze through the single door exit dodging people trying to leave and then somehow maneuver your carriage through the checkout lanes. Like... why?? 4) The store was recently remodeled and they didn't update the overhead signs in two of the aisles. I told someone and she said thank you and told me they would fix it. A month later, I noticed it still wasn't fixed, so I told someone else. "Oh really? Go tell customer service". Absolutely not. That's why I told you, you know, the employee... Another month goes by and I told customer service this time: "Oh my, thank you so much for telling us! It must have been like that for months since we remodeled. You are so observant! Yes, we will fix it right away!" Two months later and it's still not fixed. I'm just about ready to grab a ladder and fix it myself! It would take no more than 5 minutes. 5) Coupons. Why does no one know the coupon policy? Today the cashier didn't know what I meant when I said my coupon didn't double. The supervisor was clueless too. It's their store policy for crying out loud. She made me take my purchase over to customer service where I was apologized to for the misunderstanding. This wasn't the first time something like this has happened either. And no, it didn't say "do not double". 6) Posting prices. So many sale items aren't marked and it's common for the previous week's sale prices to still be hanging in the aisles. VERY annoying. Once I was told "It says selected items only", and responded with well it doesn't say which ones are on sale on the shelf so I just picked some. She actually wanted me to go back and bring up other types as if I had all day for trial and error... 7) I handed a stock boy a bag of rice that a mouse had gotten into. He seemed unfazed. 8) Long lines no matter when you go. It's not like they have all the lanes open, so there's no excuse as to why this store must always have long lines when other Stop & Shops don't. Overall, I think most of my issues are with management and staff training. There's lots of room for improvement. This Stop & Shop location is very convenient and I'll continue to go here for groceries, but I don't enjoy my time here at all. It's such an unpleasant experience.

This is the closest grocery store to my apartment, so I'm here once or twice a week. If I had a car I would definitely drive elsewhere. For the most part, the staff seem unhappy to be serving customers. I've had the unfortunate experience of a cashier deciding to go off shift after I already had all of my groceries unloaded onto the conveyor belt, meaning I had to scoop everything back up and stand in a second line. Her shift wasn't even over yet, according to the manager who caught her doing this a minute later. There always seem to be carts full of unstocked merchandise left in the middle of aisles, blocking food, without an employee in sight. It also grosses me out when I walk by the meat section and see a stock cart full of raw meat that no one has bothered to finish putting into the refrigerator cases.

A very convenient store. It is generally pretty busy with BWH employees, but I've never had to wait all that long in line. Quick tip: if you want egg salad, buy it at the salad bar and not the deli. It's cheaper by the pound!

I always drive by the Tremont St store on my way home from work so the other day I stopped in to buy cold cuts from the deli for sandwiches. They staff was friendly and pleasant. That being said they were slow as molasses with only 2 customers waiting (myself and another) so I was there for a while. I seriously don't think the staff that helped me new what they were doing. One item I had asked like I have before for paper thin and it came out the width of cardboard. I also ordered another item that was $13.99/lb and instead of slices I found chunks in the package when I opened it at home. However the worst thing was that in this Global Pandemic they didn't feel they needed to have their masks cover their nose so two of them were breathing on my food while cutting it (thank god I am vaccinated). I hope they correct this problem ASAP!

I really only ever come to this Stop & Shop out of convenience. If I weren't so lazy, I'd be hauling my butt to Whole Foods by the Symphony every time. But I live on the Hill, and this store is on my way home. This store is always ridiculously crowded. I know this isn't Stop & Shop's fault, but it makes grocery shopping really frustrating. It's the only grocery store in this immediate area, so this is probably why it's so unbearable. I wish they would install more of the self-checkout lanes. It's made pretty obvious, by the long line for these compared to the actual checkouts, that this is what the patrons prefer. On multiple occasions, I have spotted, and even bought, moldy or prematurely expired food here. Once, I noticed that large tubs of hummus with expiry dates a month in the future, were covered in mold. I pointed it out to a worker, and they removed them. Last week, I bought chicken with a sell-by date four days away, and when I went to cook it that night, it smelled sour. They need to keep a closer eye on their stock. Additionally, everything is overpriced because the Hill is filled with college kids who are too lazy to go to a reasonably priced grocery store. I can get the exact same things at Whole Foods for cheaper, believe it or not. I do appreciate their frequent sales on veggie burgers though (2 for $7, sometimes 3 for $7). I wish this store had some competition to keep them in check, or that college students had enough motivation to shop elsewhere (including myself).

The first time I went to this Stop and Shop was right before Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene. It was PACKED and had low stocked items all over the place, but I figured that was circumstantial. It was not. They are consistently out of items. When i tried ordering from the deli kiosk, they only had 2 out of the 5 meats and cheeses that I had placed an order for. With such narrow aisles, you are ALWAYS bumping into others. The lines take at least 6-7 minutes each time.

Small, cramped, and always packed! I only come here if I'm in the area and absolutely need to. Even then I'd rather go to the other Stop & Shop in JP on Center st. The only perk.. there's a JP Licks right down the escalators.

This is a sad excuse for a grocery store, but unfortunately there isn't many other options in this area. There is this slightly grimy feel to this store, and I've definitely seen a mouse run through the vegetable department. Some of the staff can be helpful, if they are feeling nice that day, but you've got to be lucky. The coin star machine doesn't work properly either last time I checked. It's packed a lot on the weekends, and the normal rush hours for grocery stores, and overall it's pretty mediocre. It looks nice on the outside, but it's really not. The big perk here is the free parking, plus it's easily accessible to the T. I think the big problem here is that there is such little incentive to invest in city stores like this. There aren't many options, so the locals and surrounding college students are nearly forced to come here. Hands down a store in this condition wouldn't fly in the suburbs. That said, I still shop here.

The produce here is fresh and I can always find what I want, even if I have to ask an employee to direct me. I like the fact that they sell copier paper at a good price, since Walgreen's next door is sometimes out of it. The rotisserie chickens are hot and delicious, but then they are at every grocery store I've been to that sells them. You can't pick them up too early in the morning, however, since they're not off the spits yet. They have an extensive selection of ground and whole bean coffees, including Starbuck's. And contrary to what some of the other reviews suggest, I have never found spoiled, rotten, or smelly food here. I like a lot of the Stop & Shop brands; the breads are especially good (try the marbled rye). Once when I was buying laundry detergent, the helpful check-out lady said, "Why are you buying the store brand? There's a name brand on sale that's much cheaper!" I appreciated her looking out for my pocketbook! That they even have this store in Mission Hill seems like a miracle, because it wasn't here twelve years ago when I lived near Brigham Circle - the closest big grocery store was at the Prudential Center. I might be even more of a fan if I came here more often, but it's a mile from the apartment I live in now and I get Peapod deliveries from Stop & Shop instead (which are excellent). There's a big, free parking lot if you drive. This place and Walgreen's next door positively seem like a gift to Mission Hill to me, after the paucity of basic-needs stores I experienced when I lived in the area more than a decade ago.

3:00 - My boss walks in to my office, says she just realized it was my admin's birthday. "What should we do?" 3:01 - Yelp to the rescue - search "bakery" near my work 3:02 - "Hello, bakery, I need a cake! I'm on my way" 3:30 - Back at my office with a personalized birthday cake 3:31 - We discover that PeopleSoft had the wrong date of birth for my admin - it's actually July 8th! Moral of the story, if you need a cake in a hurry - Stop & Shop to the rescue.

I live only two blocks away from this Stop and Shop, but I am always tempted to instead walk an extra 10 minutes to the Shaws near Fenway. - The lines for checkout are long. - Customer service is abysmal, the cashier's don't even give me a cursory acknowledgement...and I'm a friendly guy. - I like to buy pre-marinated fish that I can just toss in the oven to cook. Can't get that here. - The store is lacks many of the ethnic ingredients that you can get at other grocery stores. - I don't know if it's just me, but the organization and layout of this store really confuses me. At least they sell food. Ugh. Unfortunately this Stop and Shop is so conveniently located.

It's not so bad. It's relatively clean, I have had no problems with the produce selection. However, I think the selections could be better, especially in the meat department. (how do you expect me to make a real meatball without ground veal???) They have no butcher department - all their meat comes in prepacked. They have no seafood counter either. Probably just too difficult to deal with in this location. Other than that, i have no probsters with them. It's certainly better than the Stoppy at the Mouth Bray Center in Dorchester. Yeesh.

I hate this place. This could be my least-favorite place in Boston. Even worse than strolling through Copley Square, enjoying the fresh air and the butterflies and the rainbows, only to be stopped in my tracks when I see a bum taking a Bio Break on the side of Trinity Church. Ahhh... Boston. I used to make a veggie soup each week, and every_single_time I went to grab a fresh head of broccoli, it would be a gray mass of mush that looked like an organ donation that someone forgot to finish. Me to Customer Service Cashier: "Excuse me, could I please have a roll of quarters for this 10 dollar bill here?" Customer Service Cashier: "We don't give out quarters, go away." Me to General Manager: "Why did the girl at the counter say you don't give out quarters?" General Manager: "Sorry about that, she's just like that." Oh and this place during the Boston Water Crisis of 2010 was a cesspool. Think a combination of an overflowing porta-john in the 100+ heat at a beer festival, combined with nothing left on the shelves except for botulism-bulging cans of pork n' beans and big signs everywhere that say "You can't use EBT or WIC on this food," and then employees who would rather die than serve you, you lowly, godforsaken customer, as you leave with an empty shopping bag and probably a few communicable diseases. Me to General Manager: "Excuse me, where are your shopping carts, I cannot find any. I checked the parking lot too.". General Manager: "Oh, most have been stolen, so we really don't have many." True stories. I can't make this up, I'm not that clever. I'd recommend doing your grocery shopping at CVS or the clearance rack at TJ Maxx before relegating yourself to this establishment.

I live in Roxbury but every time I go grocery shopping, I avoid this store like the plague and drive to the Brighton Stop & Shop instead cuz this store flat out SUCKS. ALWAYS crowded, most of the employees are ignorant teenagers who dont know how to act and there is no place to put the carriages once your done loading up your car. Most of the time, people just toss them around, cluttering up parking spots. Don't waste your time coming here, unless you are one of those ignorant teenagers!! Then you will probably feel at home here.

I like this Stop and Shop, but I sometimes find myself feeling guilty about asking the clerks and workers to help me out. From time to time (today being one of those times) the workers make me feel like I've inconvenienced them by asking them about pricing or location of items. The shop layout isn't the workers' faults, but the attitude most definitely is. I shouldn't be antagonized for asking about an item, especially if I'm confused about pricing. I don't mean to be so negative, because there are some really helpful and pleasant workers here. It can just be discouraging as a costumer.

Great Stop and shop. We always come here for cheaper groceries and produce than target. One thing I do have to say though is that their RESTROOM STINKS. LIKE PEE. ALL OVER THE PLACe. I swear. I used the restroom here once and feel like I died in there. So gross...so so beyond gross. !!!!

If you've lived in California pretty much all your life, you probably haven't heard of Stop & Shop. It is, in essence, a Stater Brothers for fellow Cali friends. Prices fall between Walmart and Target - a little closer to Target actually. You can even say this is a step below Trader Joes. My favorite part about this store is their deli section. The workers here are very cool and one guy even let me sample a bunch of meats! They have just about everything you need when it comes to food. They even have Stop & Shop brand sodas which run around $0.77 with your member's card. Soda that cheap is hard to find these days. They also have a bunch of self checkout stations which is really awesome. All of them, except one, even allow you to buy fruits and vegetables that are priced by weight. I will be coming here very often since I live pretty close by. One thing I'm not too big of a fan of is the fact that I have to carry the food items back to my apartment rather than driving. But it is Boston and it is better for your health.

Pretty big Stop & Shop with free parking too. They have a fairly large fresh groceries section (bigger than the nearby Star) that is reasonably priced. They also steam you up fresh lobsters if you request it (for just the price of the lobster!), though they don't package it as well as Star. (Star wraps it in tinfoil then a bag. Here, they just put it into a bag so it gets cold quickly.)

I would avoid this business at all cost if you are like me and use the self checkout to avoid any negative energy. I once saw an elderly lady rushed at the self checkout by a stop and shop employee. Yesterday, I was lucky enough to experience the same toxic person. I tried returning the items I scanned just to not bring any tainted items home, but that just made her more aggressive. I will no longer expose myself to this self checkout service . Side note- the stop shop greeter is amazing. She has an amazing energy and makes you feel welcomed.

Ok, fair enough, it isn't your high end grocery store. It has what you need, and given the scarcity of grocery stores in the city, this one is great, given it's location. Often the produce is decent, and the staff customer service is hit or miss, but have really been on the incline. I can find nearly everything I need (pretty worldly cuisine meal maker), with the exception for specialty items that I'd have to drive somewhere else for anyway. Overall, this is a decent place for the location.

I wish I could say that this Stop and Shop were good, or even average. It's the most convenient place for me to buy groceries, but I rarely do, because the the few times I have, I've gotten burned. Their fresh produce is rarely fresh. Many of the vegetables and fruit seem either overripe or plain spoiled. Similarly, several times I've gotten meat, when I open the package, it smells funny. Also (and I haven't seen this personally), my coworker has on occasion spotted people carting trash out on shopping carts (?!). One star because packaged stuff, like breads and juices are about exactly how they are in other supermarkets. They have regular discounts too, and I can buy my Simply Orange for cheaper! One more star for the Red Boxes. Those are a huge boon, as is the coinstar machine (counting coins is free if you turn it to an amazon gift certificate, which you can use to buy just about anything that exists). And a ghost star for effort! They service a poorer neighborhood, so it's always nice to see a supermarket doing that :). I just wish they had fresh produce too.

The customer service needs to be improved. I called 3 times and got transferred to the right department to just get hung up on every time. Please fix your phone system or have someone knowledgeable and proactive answering the main line so they can respond efficiently to calls or you should remove a store phone number because it is a waste of time.

Visiting here and stopped in for a couple of things. The bathroom here is surprisingly dirty ! Toilet was gross pee on the floor and it stunk !!!

I have a love-hate relationship with this Stop & Shop. Pros: - It's in a convenient location - next to Walgreens, the bank, other shops and the T. - I've never had any trouble getting the food on my list - They have a fairly large parking lot! - In my experiences, they have helpful staff (they stopped what they were doing and led me around the store to a particular item) Cons: - Very small space - can get crowded and long lines - Not a logical layout to the store (I have to walk around the store several times to find things) Overall: It's not a glamorous grocery store, but it will do the job for me living in this area
