Storfjord Hotel

My husband and I stayed for three nights between Christmas and New Year. The hotel is stunning - very luxurious but still cosy - and with lots of nice places to sit and relax. The food was delicious - if we’d stayed longer we might have liked more variation ( a daily special could help here), as we’d tried every dish by the end of our short stay but we’d take less choice and such good quality over the other way around! The lunch menu is a bit odd - quite big dishes and not really what you felt like after a hotel buffet breakfast a few hours earlier, but what we had was still very good. ||The staff are just lovely - the manager Christian was very charming and I’d also like to give a special shout out to Federico in the spa who is not only a wonderful masseuse but also a qualified osteopath. He really knows what he’s doing and gave me some exercises to help with my wrist issues. ||We are already talking about coming back!

10/10 on all fronts. Service, attention to detail, beauty, the wellness area.. i could go on. An absolute must, take a detour if needed, when planning a holiday in norway. We especially loved Victoria who was so lovely and somehow anticipated and fulfilled every need we had. Thank you for everything.

Our visit to Storfjord was incredible. The room was comfortable and cozy. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing, and the grounds are very quiet and calm. Amazing views all around. If you want a very luxurious experience, they are a great option.

We had a wonderful time staying 3 nights in the Storfjord hotel.|Property is beautifully designed, every shared space and our room were absolutely top notch. Food was excellent, we had breakfasts and dinners at the hotel restaurant and everything we ate comes highly recommended!||The real star of the hotel are staff members. Every single person we interacted with was extremely kind and professional.

Our short trip was absolutely flawless from start to finish.||From the seamless airport transfers, through a delightful lunch and indulgent spa experience, to an incredibly enchanting boat house dinner, followed by nights of the gentlest, most restful sleep, and mornings with a perfect breakfast before returning to the airport — every moment was sheer perfection. Honestly, a few more days of this magical experience would have been an absolute dream for all of us

We stayed in two country house hotels in Norway with the same ownership - the Storfjord and the Union Oye. The surroundings at the Storfjord, while pretty and scenic enough, paled in comparison to the wild ruggedness of Oye. On the other hand, the hotel itself was much better than the Union. The Storfjord Hotel seems less like a sister of the Union Oye, and more like a wealthier, friendlier and younger distant cousin. From the welcoming tour at arrival with a delicious local birch cider to the flexibility displayed at meals, the Storfjord was very hospitable. The lavish breakfasts were outstanding, particularly the excellent croissants and homemade jam and the wonderful shrimp in dill sauce. Dinners were also delicious and the service was efficient and friendly. The views of the fjord and the mountains from the lawns are lovely, particularly at sunset. We enjoyed the sauna and our brief dip into the fjord from the hotel’s dock. The public rooms are comfortable and the fires kept lit. Our Superior fjord view room was small (but significantly larger and more comfortable than the deluxe room at Oye). Although Norway is very expensive, the Storfjord provides relatively good value compared to an American inn of its quality.

We had a wonderful stay at Storfjord Hotel, it was exactly what we were looking for. The setting is stunning, the facilities and rooms are the perfect combination of rustic chic and luxury, and the staff were all wonderfully attentive. The quality of the food was top notch.

Beautiful grounds with exceptional detail! It's all about details here. From the bathroom fixtures to bookends, the details are hard to miss. Fantastic service from the managers to the waiters. Below are some of the reasons why I give this hotel 5 stars: 1) gorgeous views of the fjord all around the hotel 2) free cookies and tea/coffee 3) so many cute lounge areas to relax, read a book, or play chess 4) comfortable beds with luxurious white sheets that feels like cotton silk If you're in the Skodje area, you should definitely come here!!!

We planned a 3 week trip to Norway including the usual itinerary from Oslo to Bergen. For the third week we found this hotel near Ålesund and decided to take a chance since we hadn't heard much about it. It turned out to be a hidden gem - literally the highlight of our trip. I was worried it might be too remote, however there is so much to see in this area, our 6 night stay was too short. The hotel itself is simply one of the nicest I've stayed in. The wonderful staff and general manager Benthe make you feel like guests invited into their cozy home. The chefs are amazing with a different gourmet 4 course meal every night. The location, the people, the accommodations (and the homemade cookies) were all truly exceptional!! (Ps. This is the first time I've ever bothered to post on Yelp - I was so impressed!)
