Yelp
Stories is a Greensburg institution. It sits on the courthouse square with a nice view of the tree on top of the courthouse tower and has a bevy of typical diner food. You will find a lot of town elders eating dinner at 3 or 4pm, or lunch at 10am (old people time), but will almost always find it crowded at any time. Parking is in an alley in the back or in the lined spaces in front of the courthouse.
They make real ice cream shakes (I recommend chocolate) and my friend's parents are big on the ham salad. If you are from out of state, I would recommend getting the giant pork tenderloin sandwich -- a staple of the midwest -- as it's one of the menu items Stories is famous for. Also, in the menu is a little history of the tree on the courthouse tower... yes, it has a history.
The people who work there are pretty nice. I remember, when I was a kid, they'd make me a special omelette: bacon, jelly and cheese. Today, I can't believe I ever used to eat such a thing, but they were very accommodating to a weird little kid. These are the perks of Small Town America.
I almost forgot... they have a huge selection of homemade pies. Many of them are meringue (lemon, coconut, etc), but they also have fruit pies and a pie that I've only ever seen in Indiana: Sugar Cream. I'm not a pie guy, but I know lots of people who will go there just for a slice.
