"Set along the Blaeberry River in Golden, this bucket-list A-frame pairs minimalist Scandinavian finishes, heated floors, and a fully equipped modern kitchen with wellness amenities made for renewal: a private sauna with river views, a glacier-fed cold plunge, and an outdoor shower. Floor-to-ceiling windows and expansive decks frame sweeping river and mountain vistas, while a shared outdoor fireplace and calm, light-filled interiors make space for slow mornings and alpine tranquility." - Jessica Chapel

There Will Be Cake: A Very Detailed Guide to Road-Tripping the Canadian Rockies | Bon Appétit

"A small, idyllic resort dating to 1922 composed of impeccably maintained original log cabins with working wood-burning fireplaces, a historic main lodge with a tiny bar and restaurant, a Canadian-lit gift shop, and a reliably crackling wood fire—an old-fashioned, tranquil stay between Banff and Lake Louise." - ByLindsay Anderson

We had an incredible stay at Storm Mountain Lodge! The historic buildings were not lost on us. Staying in one of the heritage cabins felt special and inspiring, like stepping back in time while still enjoying all the comforts we needed. It added so much character and meaning to our stay. The staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive, which made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The setting is absolutely stunning—peaceful, serene, and the perfect place to truly unplug and slow down. The food was fantastic—beautifully prepared, flavourful, and such a treat after a day out in the mountains. There are also plenty of beautiful hikes nearby, so it’s easy to spend the day exploring and then come back to relax by the fire. I would highly recommend Storm Mountain Lodge to anyone looking for a quiet, rejuvenating mountain escape.

Everything about this place is perfect. The people that work here are really kind and helpful and make our stay here even more enjoyable. The log cabin is cozy, beautifully built, and well equipped with everything needed for a comfortable and warm stay. I like that the location feels kind of remote, and with all the accumulated snow around the cabin and the snow covered pine trees, the atmosphere becomes even more magical. I think when I just want to scape and being peaceful and quiet, definitely this one is one of my top places.

So enchanting! We’ve stayed here with and without kids and I love the experience. The dinner menu is phenomenal. The staff are chill and friendly and helpful! The cabins are so charming and set in the trees. I look forward to coming back soon.

Went on anniversary trip with my wife. Had a fantastic time. The staff were able to work with us when our flight was cancelled pushing our entire schedule back one day. Everyone has been very friendly and welcoming— great hospitality. Location is perfect as it’s ~20 minutes to downtown Banff and ~20 minutes to Lake Louise. Beautiful hikes less than 5 minutes away. Cabins do feel like they are within the forest and away from the busy roads/city. Would stay here again.

I’ve always had an amazing time at Storm Mountain. Such a quaint experience - a great escape the ordinary. The staff are kind and friendly and the food is outstanding. Very close to an easy hike, half an hour from Lake Louise and 22 minutes from Banff. Lots to do and see. Will return for sure.

Great rustic style log cabin with enough amenities to be totally comfortable. Regarding critical reviews: the cabins vary; ours (#9) had a gas fireplace/heater which was nice, a very comfy bed, small bathroom, but no issues. Staff were very friendly, esp. Aisling. Dinner was exceptional. Sablefish was delicate and delicious, duck with cherry/wine sauce was a more winter fare and also delicious. Reasonable prices, given remoteness. Great hiking a short distance away. Short hike to beautiful Vista Lake, a longer, more gradual hike to Boom Lake, or longer, steeper hike to Arnica Lake/meadow and further to Twin Lakes. Spectacular mountain views. Pick your level of effort.
