I heard Story Coffee & Tea was a newer spot in downtown Bellevue for some caffeinated beverages, so decided to check it out and do some reading here as I had visited its predecessor, Honor Coffee before. Story Coffee & Tea was a solid spot for drinks and hanging out.
Located in the Alley 111 apartments on the retail level, it hasn't changed much, looks wise, from when it was Honor Coffee. The space is configured with the same amount of tables and chairs, with a few comfy, leather chairs for longer visits. I liked that they had a consignment wall that showcased items that you could purchase from local artists, such as prints, ceramics, etc. Many people were working on their laptop when I visited on a Saturday, given that they offer wifi.
The menu has a lot to offer, with many different coffee, tea and other beverages, as well as sandwiches and pastries in the display case and to-go items in the fridge, like juice and yogurt. I ordered a hojicha donut latte, which set me back about eight bucks. It's not cheap, but it was good, especially at first sip. The creamy foam on top of the latte is what gives you that donut-y taste, and I liked the hojicha flavor throughout. It was a nice drink to try, but not something I'd get again and again, especially since it's pricey. I'd be more inclined to try their other inventive beverages in my next visit.
