Apparently they have this no laptop rule in the inside part of the cafe, which is ridiculous.
It is not obvious from the shop front. They put it on a tiny piece of paper on the till relying on you seeing it. And if you don't, you would have only found out after having ordered and gone in to see what's on the table. This is not on. If you have the audacity to ban laptops, make it VERY clear upfront.
They charge £3 for a have-in tea. In my opinion I didn’t pay £3 for the tea, I am paying to use the real estate - the use of space, electricity, service.
Who doesn’t know how to make their own tea? A tea bag is 5p, a dash of milk another 5p, hot water another 5p max - no one is buying a 15p cup of tea for £3 and not be allowed to sit inside to use their laptop!
Crucially, the tea wasn’t even great.
All this while I sat outside in the cold there was hardly anyone using the space inside.
Also, it’s just laptops and iPads that are banned, phones aren’t. Baffling.
