My family visited for the Donald’s Tale of Adventure this afternoon. The staff was attentive and kind. The food was amazing, plentiful and just downright tasty!! The problem was that the star of the show, Donald, went missing for stretches lasting over an hour!!! Other friends (Daisy, Pluto, Goofy, and Clarabelle) were able to see all of the guests without issue, but Donald #1 seemed to only visit certain tables (sometimes repeatedly), ignoring many of his #1 fans. Multiple tables had children leaving without seeing him, one of which left in tears. Definitely come for the food, but don’t expect too much from the star. It’d be one thing if we were part of an open beta, but we were still charged full price for the diminished experience. I’d sit this one out for a little while to let the team figure out how best to shine.

Wonderful food, wonderful service and presentation of all the food. Cleanliness and friendliness just as you would expect from Disney. You won't regret going here. Food is delicious for adults and children for choices are great for all.

Came here for my niece's birthday because she's a huge Mickey fan! The food was good, we were there for brunch. As a vegetarian, I was glad there were options that I could enjoy. I just wish there were a few more vegetarian protein options, especially for the price per person. My favorite foods from the selection were the French toast and hash browns. Besides the food, the atmosphere was really fun! My niece had a blast interacting with the characters as we ate. We also got the white chocolate Mickey birthday cake, which was pretty good. Overall, it was a fun experience for the kids, and the food was pretty good despite the costly price tag.

Google
Great place to bring your kids to enjoy a nice meal, brunch is the best option since you get the best of both breakfast and lunch. Characters are constantly walking around and interacting with guests.

Google
Enjoyed character dining. Met all of the advertised characters, although did have to hang around to succeed with meeting clarabelle cow 😀 The Buffett was chaotic and loud. They did have good fruit, salads. Meats included salmon, chicken, beef brisket, prime rib, pork ribs, roast turkey, shrimp, chicken strips. They had all the potatoes fries, mashed, ect. Dessert display was cute. Drinks were served. The dining area itself was also very loud. . Blaring music even when characters not dancing. It kind of felt like they tried to make it so it would not be tolerable for extended periods and people would leave. I would encourage bringing hearing protection if sensitive to loud noise. The service was good. It's expensive for what you get. You can easily meet the characters in the park and you still only get short interactions. That being said everything is expensive. Our bill was $280 for 5 people plus 20% tip.

Google
Super nice place, great food and cool character interactions. Our server was very inattentive. Usually waiters at Disney want to refill your coffee faster than you can drink, here I had to ask.

Angel Rincon

Google
Oh wow the food was amazing and the staff were so above and beyond nice. We got reservations for a 7am time and the staff, including all the characters, were definitely up and ready to get the day started. All the interactions were fun and they loved posing for photos with you. Food was so darn delicious, I mean, you really can’t go wrong with the experience here :) very much smiles all around.

Google
This has by far been by favorite character dining experience at the Disneyland Resort. While you don’t get a picture like you do at Plaza, the characters do come around to the tables multiple times. The food wasn’t bad for it being a buffet, I enjoyed the pastries a lot. This is also inside the Grand Californian which means they offer a different assortment of adult beverages, which can be fun for the adults. Jamie, our waiter was amazing and was so kind. We were able to see Chip, Dale, Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto. I definitely suggest coming here and make sure to make a reservation .

Yelp
I went to Storytellers Cafe inside the Grand Californian Hotel in Anaheim, basically on Disneyland grounds, for an early birthday breakfast and it was definitely a memorable one. This is a character dining experience and I got to see all five characters; Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, and Pluto. The biggest thing to know is that you're not paying for the food or even the chance to enjoy it fully, you're really paying for the experience with the characters. Maybe it was because we came exactly at opening, but we honestly weren't able to eat much at all because the characters kept coming one by one. There's nothing wrong with that, but by the time we finished interacting with all of them, the restaurant had already started filling up and we didn't get our fill of breakfast. The food itself was your run-of-the-mill breakfast spread; eggs, bacon, and an omelet station. But they did have some elevated touches I appreciated, like an ice cream machine, assorted desserts, a meat carving station, lox station, and even French butter which was a nice surprise. I can't say much about parking as I was able to get in through other means. But I will say the host and our server were incredibly inviting and really made our experience feel special. Overall, this is a place you visit for the characters. Don't come expecting to eat your money's worth, because the value is truly in the character interactions.

Yelp
A Hidden Disney Character Experience - No Park Ticket Needed! We came to Storytellers Café at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel to enjoy a bit of Disney magic without paying for park admission--and it absolutely delivered. Important note: Parking is $35 at the Grand Californian, so keep that in mind when budgeting your visit. If you're dining here just for brunch, it's something to be aware of since there's no validation unless you're a hotel guest. Here's a little-known secret: you don't need a Disneyland ticket to meet Mickey, Minnie, and other classic characters. All you have to do is book a breakfast or brunch reservation, and the characters will come around to your table every 15-20 minutes for photos and quick interactions. It's a great way to soak in the Disney experience without entering the parks. The Food - Themed, Varied, and Just Okay The brunch buffet is average in terms of taste, but the Disney-themed presentation adds charm. You'll find Mickey-shaped waffles, pastries topped with Mickey chocolates, and whimsical touches that make it a treat--especially for kids. Some highlights and notes: Carving station: Offers ham and tri-tip beef. The beef was a bit dry. Omelette bar: A standout! Made-to-order, fully customizable. I waited about 15 minutes, but it was worth it--especially with fresh avocado. Fruit station: Surprisingly well-stocked with blueberries and blackberries, which aren't always found at standard buffets. Other brunch items: Scrambled eggs, Caesar salad, macaroni salad, smoked salmon with cream cheese, and bagels (though mine was over-toasted). Kid-friendly options: Cereal and simple items for picky eaters. Most kids seemed more focused on waiting for the characters than actually eating! Atmosphere - Calm & Kid-Friendly, But Not Overwhelming Compared to Goofy's Kitchen (by the Pixar Place Hotel), Storytellers Café has a calmer, more refined vibe. Goofy's is louder, more chaotic, and feels like a party--perfect for families wanting high energy. But if you prefer a more relaxed, adult-friendly setting with characters, Storytellers is the better fit. Overall You're mainly paying for the character experience, not the food. Dinner is cheaper, but it typically features lesser-known characters like Donald or Clarabelle Cow. If you want Mickey and Minnie, brunch is the way to go. Tip: Book early, and plan for the $35 parking fee unless you're staying at the hotel. It's a great way to enjoy Disney magic without entering the parks!

Yelp
Storytellers Cafe is likely the worst place for the gummies I took an hour earlier to fully take effect into my bloodstream. I was sitting in this rustic, cabin-like ambiance fighting for my life when Donald Duck's girlfriend came to our table and started interacting with us. I wanted no part of it, so I have no idea why the words "I think you're cute" left my lips. I didn't want to catch the hands from Donald, so I got up and went to hit the buffet. I weaved through the wild children roaming around, refusing to make eye contact or acknowledge any of the Disney characters. My first plate consisted of prime rib, turkey breast, fried chicken, kale salad, vegetables, and a slice of pizza. They literally have everything in here. It was so overwhelming. The thing about me is I always forget I don't like prime rib until it's on the plate sitting in front of me. It's just so one dimensional. Prime Rib just doesn't have the juice. No motion. There is no crust formation, no seasoning, and no soul. Just a pink center. That cow is still alive damn near. I will never understand the general public's obsession with prime rib. Everything else was middy wap besides the kale salad and pizza, so my 2nd plate consisted of only kale salad and pizza. As I was walking back to the table with my 2nd plate, my soul barely still in my body, some music began playing loud and all the disney characters started dancing in unison through the center of the establishment. I couldn't help but think of the people in these costumes just trying to feed their families. Crazy job to have. As the show ended, I looked to my left and there was Donald, staring deep into my soul. I thought I was gonna have to throw a spinning wheel kick in self defense, but I slowly walked back to my table without breaking eye contact. He didn't want this problem and I can't blame him. As we got up to leave, I saw Goofy. Goofy is my GUY. That lyric "Young Walt Disney Imma tell you truthfully, If you leave Mickey you gon end up with a Goofy!" lives rent free in my head, so I had to dap him up. Goofy always catching strays. SHOUTOUT TO GOOFY! IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

Yelp
Be sure you make a reservation! Located within the Grand Californian hotel. You can get 3 hrs of validated self-parking and valet with a restaurant receipt, so be sure to hold onto that receipt! Fast and friendly service in a loud and overly happy casual atmosphere! Characters like Goofy and Donald walk around and interact with you, so be prepared if your kids are terrified of mascots like mine are. All you can eat and you serve yourself. Tons of offerings both healthy and not. Be sure to stuff yourself to get your moneys worth because it's insanely expensive!

Yelp
Part of me wants to dock Storytellers Cafe for under-seasoned cauliflower, slightly soggy greens and especially for not having the Kale Salad that was on their menu that I was so excited to try. Then I remember that it's a buffet centered around meeting Disney characters and I realize it's really not so bad at all. Obviously I'd tweak the dishes (and not let people down by not having the items listed online), but with some hot sauce and an open mind, it's pretty satisfying. I'd recommend the Caprese Salad and Roasted Vegetables especially. The ambiance is as festive as you'd expect with ample Disney characters stopping by each table to spread cheer (shoutout to Chip). Not the best food at the resort and certainly not the best bang for buck (yikes), but it does what it's supposed to do pretty well.

Yelp
I think the main thing that should be judged here is the food -- it is a buffet after all. And I can say you will not be disappointed by the breakfast selections. Everything you can think of from sweet, savory, healthy, and not so healthy ;) Service was super friendly and accommodating and they made sure to let us know we could ask questions about anything. Also we got there a little before our reservation and were seated right away. As far as ambiance, the Grand Californian is one of the most beautiful hotels in the area and this room greatly reflects the magic of Disney and the Craftsman style architecture. We got to take tons of pictures with the characters who came by about every 10 minutes, so there was never a dull moment. The way everything is priced nowadays, the cost isn't much more than an average dining out experience. That, plus the experience of interacting with characters and seeing the look on your kid's face, makes this a no-brainer.

Yelp
I came to Donald's Tales of Adventure at Storytellers Café after seeing it on TikTok and was super curious to try it since it's the first year they're doing a Donald Duck-themed character dining. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the hype. We went for dinner, and while the food was okay, it definitely didn't wow me. The selection felt limited, especially for dessert, and the overall atmosphere wasn't as festive or fun as I expected for a character experience. One of the biggest letdowns? We never got to meet Donald Duck. No one came around to make sure guests saw or got photos with all the characters -- which was really disappointing. There's no designated photo op with Donald either, unlike Goofy's Kitchen where Goofy greets you at the entrance or Minnie at Plaza Inn. This was my third character dining experience, and Goofy's Kitchen is still the best -- better food, better service, and more fun overall. The service at Storytellers was just okay -- nothing special. It honestly felt like just another dinner buffet with a few characters walking around. Glad we tried it once, but I won't be going back. I'll pay more for goofy's kitchen

Yelp
Went to Storytellers Cafe for the first time and we went the day after we went the parks to conclude our Disney trip. Reservations were easy to make on the Disney app. Checked in on app and received a text when our table was ready. It is a very spacious dining area. The buffet didn't look like much at first glance but I was wrong! There was everything from breakfast items to sirloin steak. Everything was delicious and so far this has been the best character dining experience! There were 5 characters that made their rounds multiple times and they did a couple parades/dances as well. Our server was great. He checked on us often and made sure our drinks were full. We interacted with every character and love that they really take their time at each table. Highly recommend!

Not my fault that I can't tell them apart), and Pluto. You can also bring a autograph book so you can have the characters sign their names.

Yelp
Key Points: - Best Character Breakfast of all. - Sirloin Beef Roast *drool* - Plenty of character interaction As of now, it seems the Fam and I have tried all Disneyland associated character breakfasts, including Plaza Inn, and Goofy's Kitchen. It seems we have a winner: Storyteller's is the best character breakfast of all! The elegant decor, easy access through Disney's California Adventure, and diverse character lineup made this place stand out. We came here for The Little One's birthday. The food, was certainly impressive. Here's some items that stood out to Me: - sirloin beef roast: some would call it a steak but technically it's not. It was tender, juicy, and beefy flavored, cooked to medium rare perfection. I'm guessing they used sous vide, with option for horseradish sauce. - bread pudding: not usually a fan but this time I was! - Beet salad: A delicious healthy option. - Omelette station: also included options for egg whites. The cook didn't need to write anything down and just remembered all the details of the orders. Wow! - Mickey Waffles: technically we've had better versions of these elsewhere but having an unlimited supply can't be beat. Characters we saw included Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip & Dale. The Little One had plenty of meet/greet time with them. She had a blast! While the frequent character performances were fun, they felt a bit excessive, and disrupted our ability to get up for food. Some people may like this though. Overall, a memorable experience and our go-to for character breakfasts if we go again.

Yelp
Been a long time since coming here Really was here for Donald Tales of Adventure Reservations highly recommend on the app to make adjustment and add dietary needs Was able to check in 20 mins prior in the app and receive text when table was ready Polite personable host and greeters This specific Buffett is limited role only from 4pm to 9pm with character dining to ideally see Donald daisy goofy Pluto clarabelle but of course no guarantees Buffett theme is catered toward bbq from brisket to ribs and fried chicken and prime rib and roast chicken along with a pasta of the day in this case lobster raviolis all the various sides from mash potato and crème corn and corkscrew Mac n cheese and fried items like fried chicken fried chicken strips and fried shrimp along with french fries plenty of salad selection fresh cut fruit and to make your own meat and cheese boars combo along with 2 types of sorbets that was watermelon and lime during my serving plus cookies different puddings and petite desserts Food was tasty and fresh, meat was tender, fried items were not greasy and crunchy exterior The mash potato crème corn my favorite and the Mac n cheese I would hope many kids would love Both hot and cold stations were well stocked and kept clean and tidy Our server Yoko continuously checked up on us and Kyrie? Was pleasant and friendly Can be loud but certainly exciting to see all the characters and eat tasty food I would recommend this place but knocked it a star because the booth provided though nice in the corner was a tight squeeze for our party of 5 making it slightly awkward to meet the character and be seated comfortably. 2nd because Donald who I was looking to seeing as he is my favorite literally skipped our table on 2 occasions but were able to meet everyone else eventually. Overall great experience and value and there is no time limit to complete your meal by. Dinner was $58 prior tax and gratuity and applicable discount and there is children pricing too. Family, kid, and adult friendly. Also they will provide a tour if one has dietary restrictions such as vegan vegetarian needs or GF and cook up specific offerings for you.
google avatar

Yelp
The theming at storytellers is just that. Telling a story about dinner with Donald Duck and his friends. Having a nice camping trip filled with s'more's bread pudding. The servers are extremely attentive and never missed the opportunity to refill glasses or remove plates when finished. The feel of dinner from start to finish is just good ole reminiscent of camping with friends and family. This is a dinner buffet, all you care to enjoy. So enjoy!

Yelp
This place is such a great place to get a little bit of everything when it comes to brunch.y favorites were definitely the fresh fruit and desserts. The character interaction is also super fun! Overall worth it
google avatar

Daisy M.

Yelp
I want to give a shout out to Chef Joseph for going above and beyond to help me and my daughter with our dietary restrictions! The thought of going to a buffet, spending a ton money, and not being able to eat a lot of the food was sad to me, so I was hoping they would have some decent vegan options that would fit my needs... well they did! The chef walked me through all of the items to see what I could eat, and even made me special versions of the Mickey waffles, an entree and desserts! It was truly amazing to feel like I was included, and the chef was so understanding and kind. As far as the rest of the experience, it was a bit chaotic as expected, but not bad. I wished they would've given our group of 3 adults and a toddler a larger table because it definitely wasn't enough space with a young active child. However the characters were all sweet, and we all had a great time! I'd love to go back again.

Yelp
I've been to Disneyland so many times, been a pass holder for many years and had never been here before. As a first timer I can say it was perfect! My baby loved it and had such a Fun time dancing and interacting with Minnie, Mickey, and everyone. Highly recommend. The food is tasty lots of healthy options compared to others and very convenient and clean .

Yelp
We're back at the Disney grand California, Hotel and spa. Ever since my girlfriend's baby has been born I've been calling her baby snow . It really has just become her AKA , so of course we have to go to storyteller Café to celebrate her birthday. I was excited to know that the original restaurant is opened last time we got put in a banquet room and I was not happy about it ! I was excited to get the full experience ,such a beautiful restaurant ! Next to the booth, there's these beautiful light boxes of horses running .. The decor is beautiful. So much fun with all your favorite characters running around giving you hugs and blowing you kisses. Let's talk about the food. Lots of good stuff just not as much as goofy's kitchen. Goofy's kitchen definitely has more options, but the food still was amazing. We left out of their stuff ! Not too many times in life I want to go to a buffet, but I will do a Disney buffet. Five stars.

Yelp
I am a big Disney fan and we come here every year to have brunch as a family. Yes, a little expensive especially since we went this year during the holiday pajama party. Over sixty per person is a little steep - a 3 star for the price. Experience - 5 star coz I love the characters and how we can take photos with them. The food is pretty standard. For brunch, they have the standard - bacon, eggs, sausage, biscuit and gravy, lox and bagels, lots of fruit, chilaquiles, pot roast, chicken, and let's not forget the mickey shaped waffles. We got there at 9:40am and stayed until almost 11. When you stay that late, the lunch items start coming out - popcorn shrimp, fries, and chicken tenders. Because we ate there, we were able to get our valet validated with free 3-hr parking. We walked around the hotel and took more photos since the tree was still up.

Yelp
Was hyped about having my niece at Storytellers Cafe. They do go off of reservations so make sure to plan ahead of time. Upon arriving and checking in we did still wait 20 minutes. Once we were sat we went to their buffet style line to grab some food. It was ok. I did like how they had fresh fruits. It was nice that we were able to see some characters instead of the busy park.
google avatar

Bernadette S.

Yelp
enjoyed our first time for this brunch buffet. The characters come around a lot so plenty of opportunities for pictures. The buffet is typical breakfast, mickey waffles, cake pops, eggs, bacon. They had chicken and meat for heavier options. Staff is always friendly and helpful
google avatar

Danny C.

Yelp
This is easily the best bang for your buck when it come to Disney meals. For a little over $40/person with kids under 3 for free, eat as much as you want. Eggs, omelettes, pastries, cereal, bacon, sausage, Mickey Waffles, and so much more will be available. Seating is spacious and comfortable, plus you get characters coming to your table to entertain your little ones. Service is extremely expedient and everything else you need to order comes in minutes inside the comfort of an actual restaurant. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
I made reservations for Storytellers Cafe 60 days in advance because I saw that they were doing a Fall themed menu and decor. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation time and were seating about 5 minutes after. Our server was very friendly and attentive - she brought us coffee and water and made sure to check on us frequently. As for the food, I do not think they offer nearly enough food options for the price. They had breakfast items and we left full, but I feel like they only offer the bare minimum - I have been to less expensive buffets that had a lot more options to choose from. Also, they have characters that walk around, but apparently not all the characters visit both sides of the restaurant? We were there for about an hour and only Chip, Dale and Pluto came over. We saw Minnie and Mickey, but they never once came over to our side to say hello. That was a bit of a letdown especially for my 8 year old daughter who was very much looking forward to seeing some characters. Overall, I don't think we would come back here given the price. I think the other character breakfast places like Goofy's is much better!

Yelp
I love character dining! It's one of my favorite thing to do, even if I don't go to one of the parks, I will drive out for a meal. Which exactly is what I did at Storytellers Cafe, located inside the Grand Californian this past Monday. I went to Mickey's Tales of Adventure Brunch Buffet with a friend who has an Inspire key so it was easy to get a reservation and get a discount! The cozy Craftsman-style dining room is a warm, friendly backdrop while the character roam the restaurant to greet guests. The characters for breakfast and brunch were Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip & Dale, dressed in their explorer outfits. FOOD: The buffet includes hand-carved meats, fish of the day, chilaquiles, croissants, muffins, danishes, fruits, eggs, bacon, hash browns, Mickey Waffles, an omelet station and a dessert bar! Everything I had was delicious. I had an omelette, bacon, prime rib, fries, caprese salad, gluten free Mickey waffle and fruit. Gluten-free Mickey Waffles available! You just have to order it with your server but I was disappointed in the lack of gluten free options. My only gluten free dessert option was the soft serve or a gf blueberry muffin (I went for the muffin and it was ok). DINNER: The current dinner time is not character dining, but starting mid-May 2025, it'll be Donald's Tales of Adventure Dinner Buffet with Donald, Daisy, Clarabelle, Goofy, Pluto. It's a BBQ menu. I can't wait to try it and report back! SERVICE: Just like all the other Disney properties, the staff and cast members are all professional, friendly and want to make sure you're having a good time. A staff came over and asked my friend if we met all the characters. CHARACTERS: There's actually quite a lot of character interaction opportunities during the meal. They stop by every table to greet all their guest- kids and adults! When they play the 'song', all the staff claps and all the characters dance around all the tables. I always have a good time at character dining! Good food and fun photo oops with the Disney characters.

Yelp
I'm giving this a little bit of grace by giving it 4 stars. I've been to the cafe for dinner when it was at the GCH. Right now, it's in a conference room since GCH is being renovated. We made reservations and when we got there (after much walking and going through essentially a maze of hotels from DCA), the hostess said we could check out the food before committing since the buffet offerings were much more limited than their usual buffet but at the same price. Indeed.... The buffet offerings were more limited but we nonetheless decided to sit down and eat. They let us bring in our stroller and park it at the table. What food they did have was yummy and we went back for seconds and thirds. However, until the storyteller cafe goes back to its original location, I'd say wait bc the price is not fully worth it for a limited offering. For us, it was at least okay since we have the magic key discount.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance and service! So cute inside and was a nice break from the crowded park. Pricey but the food is high quality. It's different than a typical buffet in that there aren't that many choices but the choices they had were very good (especially the salmon and prime rub) it also comes with beverages and if you ask they bring ice cream. We went during the lunar new year time and weren't very impressed with the deserts. But in the past we've really liked the desserts. My family also loved the 2 types of shrimp offered.

Yelp
These character meals at Disney are expensive! Nothing is worse than paying a ton of $ for also crappy food. However, we did storytellers for breakfast and this was one of our favorite better quality meals. We also did goofys kitchen which was fun but the food was not near the quality of here. This place has a great brunch with a made to order omelette station, bacon, quiche, any kind of fruit you can imagine, Belgian waffles, Mickey shaped waffles, croissants muffins etc. You also get any kind of juice milk or tea included in your buffet price with free refills. Mickey Minnie chip and dale all come through the place with a staged dance then randomly spread throughout mingling among tables. We saw every character and were there for a little over an hour except for Minnie! Our waitress pao was very kind attentive and friendly she took photos of us and any need we had was addressed within seconds. I loved this place and would come again hands down!

Yelp
We went to dinner last night at for Donald's Tales of Adventure Dinner Buffet at the Storyteller's Café. The wife went with our adult daughter and her friends while hubby stayed home with the cats. The main reason was that our daughter (will be turning 40) wanted to meet Daisy Duck and the wife (will be turning 70) wanted to meet Clarabelle. Both were wearing their favorite character's t-shirts. All the characters visited our table and pictures were taken. Daisy was particularly attentive to our daughter, admiring her shirt and purse, and the 2nd time marching around made sure to wave again and show love. Clarabelle we think was pleasantly surprised that she had a fan and showed her appreciation with a big hug for the wife. We were all delighted. Goofy was great with "the girls". Always enjoy Pluto and Donald, too. We all ate a lot of food (too fast, since we were hungry) and were taken care of wonderfully by our server, Wendy and her helper (forgot the name, but it began with an "M"). It was not crowded at 6:30pm on a Sunday night. Note that the bill for 4 guests came with gratuity added, which was fine by us. Now for the food. Here is the list of everything we ate between us, note that the wife is a vegetarian but was able to order a glass of prosecco and had enough options to choose from. Delicious and great food: fresh fruit, chips and salsa, caesar salad, mac and cheese, couscous, prime rib, chicken, turkey, mashed potatoes, creamed corn, honey cornbread, pizza, bread pudding and apricot sorbet. Could have done better: What is a BBQ without baked beans? The zucchini was not prepared well. The desserts were uninspired, the cake pop was stale and the chocolate truffle had no flavor. We have no complaints about the price. Great service and the wonderful character interaction we observed with all the guests (not just us) made for a very special evening.

Yelp
We had a 7:30 AM reservation here to celebrate after our RunDisney 10K. If you're a fan of character dining, this place is definitely for you. However, to be honest, the breakfast was very underwhelming. The only highlight for me was the make-your-own omelette station. Most of the pastries were dry, including the Mickey waffle, which was a bit disappointing. I also found it odd that the shredded hash browns were cooked in a spicy sauce. The carved ham was dry as well--I only had one bite. They did offer a fruit, yogurt, and oatmeal station with small, rock-hard bagels and some smoked salmon. On the bright side, the characters interacted with us a lot. Having an early reservation worked out well, as Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip, and Dale paraded around the restaurant and stopped at each table. Although we were told Minnie was busy making waffles and didn't get a picture with her, the others came to our table twice. It seems like they've raised the prices recently--it cost $130 for two adults for an average breakfast, and they even charged extra for Iced Americano refills. With tax and tip, it added up quickly. Honestly, I think I'm still comparing it to the amazing breakfast buffet we had at the Hong Kong Disneyland hotel last year, which was the best I've ever had. Unfortunately, Storyteller's Cafe just didn't measure up to the Disney standard.

Yelp
Fantastic place which is in the Grand Californian where you can meet some characters and eat delicious food which was buffet style. We did brunch and the food choices were massive but my favorite was the Mickey shaped desserts. Service was great as usual and the ambiance of the hotel is always impeccable. Our kids enjoyed dancing and taking pictures with the characters which they came around four times. This experience was better than the one in the park.

Yelp
The restaurant is inside the Grand California Hotel. Valet parking only. Long line to valet. They do give 3hrs validated parking. We came to celebrate our anniversary but no one seems to ask if you're here to celebrate any occasion. We did see on the app you can add a cake for $40. We went for brunch. The food is buffet style and didn't seem like a big buffet but let's just say I did not go home hungry. They have quite a selection from omelet server to a variety of pastries, your usual breakfast layout of eggs and bacon then there is a meat carving station and selection of salads, yogurt and cereal. Nonalcoholic drinks are included in the price. Pricing however did change. When we had booked the reservation it was posted at $55. Our bill was a bit large and upon checking the site it is now $65 per person. The experience was cute. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip and Dale came around the tables a few times. We felt bad not wanting to take up too much of their time for pictures but they did not give rushy vibes. They stayed and mingled and noticed they interacted with kids of all ages, being mindful not to scare the littler ones.

Yelp
Safari Disney adventure times can be found at storytellers cafe with an amazing character best friend including Mickey and friends. They give ample time to all tables with plenty of characters and if you're there long enough, you get to enjoy a couple of visits from your best Disney pals. They take pictures of you and come to your table for ease. The food is a huge buffet style with American and Mexican cuisine. I didn't go for the food but I sure did enjoy it, especially the infamous Mickey waffles but you can practically get those anywhere. It's very busy and expect to be waiting for seating even with a reservation...can't escape that aspect of Disney no matter where you go. Mickey's adventure breakfast truly is a memory for the books.

Yelp
Are they tricking me? The website says they are open but the menu is different and I'm paying for mediocre food. What is happening?

Yelp
We went to storyteller cafe to celebrate our grandson's birthday. I can't say enough on how the Disney characters entertained the children and spent so much time posing with the children and the families. We had the brunch service which also included a birthday cake for my grandson. The food service was a buffet style and was all you can eat . They also had an extensive fresh fruit section . All non-alcoholic drinks were included. We had a great time I would recommend this as a treat for your children.

Yelp
Having last visited this restaurant at the start of last year, I liked the large amount of seating available (booth or table) and music playing at a moderate volume but was disappointed in the vegan breakfast option of a omelette made of hash browns containing vegetables as well as fresh fruit, vegan Mickey Mouse shaped waffles, and oatmeal. Upon entering the restaurant recently, our group was warmly greeted and quickly seated. After I informed our server Matthew that I was vegan, the kitchen's chef Christian came out and shared with me which items were vegan on breakfast bar and added that waffles and yogurt were also available and that the yogurt is nut based. In addition, I was pleasantly surprised to see a vegan omelette made with vegan egg, vegan cheese, and vegan soyrizo along with vegan Mickey Mouse shaped waffles, vegan yogurt with granola, hash browns, and oatmeal. When I approached the made to order omelette station, I was elated to see a sign with vegan options clearly note. After having my vegan omelette made by the friendly chef, I returned to my table and enjoyed my breakfast while my friend and her son enjoyed interacting with the various Disney characters that came by during our meal. having finished my big breakfast of the vegan omelette, yogurt with granola, Mickey Mouse shaped waffles, and fruit, I left the restaurant feeling satisfied but not stuffed and excited about my next opportunity to eat at the restaurant.

Yelp
We went on Saturday before the closing for remodel. We had a reservation and the restaurant closed at 9pm. The restaurant had reconfigured the buffet to one long line. The beginning is fresh fruit, shrimp, multiple types of fresh salad, kid friendly food and multi side dishes. The main meat courses were prime rib and turkey . If you have allergies Disney tries to accommodate them. Dessert has endless possibilities but I love the bread pudding. Service is fast for your drinks and someone is always refilling your drinks. Pricey but a once in a while treat. The restaurant is designed like your in Yosemite with exploring phrases and Disney music plays while you eat.

Yelp
I wanted to bring to your attention that Janicee's behavior today did not reflect the Disney standard. She was noticeably short, gave attitude, and her overall demeanor came off as rude rather than magical. It was disappointing and not the level of guest experience we strive for. 06/27/2025 @10:25am

Yelp
The Storytellers Cafe inside the Grand Californian Hotel is a great venue for a really decent meal when visiting Disneyland. It is no more costly per person than other "sit-down" restaurants in the area and the Buffet gives you a plethora of choices to select from...rather than ordering a fixed plate/meal elsewhere. If you're at Disneyland and choosing to dine at any one of the "sit-down" restaurants, you'll be "dropping" a lot of amount of money regardless ...here at the Storytellers Cafe Buffet, if I select something I don't especially care for...I simply try something else. If I make a mistake, at a "sit-down fixed meal/plate" venue...that's it, I'm stuck with whatever I ordered, whether I like it or not. Last visit was over 5 years ago...and to my surprise, I actually feel the quality of the offerings this visit were better! The restaurant is clean and has definite appeal in layout and decor. Our Server, Lisa, was very pleasant and attentive...which pleased us to no end. Thank-you Lisa! At a Buffet, I'm always more adventurous in my selections...and I must say, nothing offered was less than "good". Of course, there were my favorites and my smaller second "plating" only had those items on it. The Dessert selection was plentiful and I enjoyed selecting items that I normally wouldn't look at. Much to my surprise and satisfaction...everything was really very good. From the Rise and Shine Cocktail Menu, I selected a Grand Candied Orange Coffee...and it was FABULOUS! No one in my party was initially enthralled with my selection of this restaurant, but by the time we left, everyone agreed that this was undoubtedly one of the best meals available in the Disneyland/California Adventure Resort area. On this occasion, in this Yelper's opinion...the Storytellers Cafe made a great impression and truly earned this "highly recommend" 5 Star review.

Yelp
My family and I went to lunch here for my husband's birthday before spending the day in the park. The restaurant is located in the Grand Californian Hotel. It does not disappoint. The check-in process is seamless on your phone. The cast members are so kind that work here. They made a extra special effort for the birthday and sung happy birthday and brought a cupcake with a candle. It was lovely. The food is always consistently great with lots of great choices. We try to frequent this restaurant about once a month to get together with family for brunch and it has been consistently great. You can use your pass discount if you have a Magic Key.

Yelp
This is a mixed review only because the service was amazing and the food was ok. I would say it is the smallest selection of food I have ever seen. It is also on the pricier side of buffets for the food. However I did realized that the price is including the experience of having the characters there and taking pictures. Overall our family enjoyed it, but will I go back probably not unless I was taking someone new who hasn't experienced it. The place is very loud by 9 am The only thing I was a bit concerned about was the fact that we ordered a birthday cake in our reservation that was never brought out.

Yelp
Had a marvelous experience here with my tot. It was Mickey's Pajama party, you get to dine buffet style while characters come by to greet you- be sure to snag some photos! The options for food are plentiful and check every category. The characters are kind, playful and never made you feel rushed. The kitchen staff serving food were also so very kind and welcoming. It was a wonderful experience. My son and I loved it!

Yelp
Finally tried their breakfast character dining experience, with a kid in tow (free under 3yrs old), with solid food choices and omelette station and good scrambled eggs. However the characters stopping by (Pluto, Chip, Mickey, Minnie) were the real highlight. Staff knows how to treat kids well and make it a magical experience, and it was appreciated. Make sure to do reservations early and slots fill up quick

Yelp
Haven't been back here in 5 years and now I've been twice in three months! Yes it's expensive but it's Disney. Food choices are the same basically, but it decent to good. My husband enjoyed the good better at our 8am reservation than 11am - perhaps the food is fresher. The themed characters is what brought me back and Disney needs to keep with this seasonal costume changes for the characters. It seems not everyone stays for all the characters or don't have the time, it does take around 90mins for all the characters to get round to you, so don't rush this meal. I hope for spring they come out with new outfits for the characters. I had always had a reservation for the restaurant and never tried walk up. Reservations can be difficult to get as well.

Yelp
Such a fun dining experience that our little ones really enjoyed! I made reservations on the Disney App a couple months in advance and definitely recommend doing so as spaces can fill up quickly, especially if you have a party larger than 6. The woman working at the front wasn't especially friendly so it was a bit of a bummer starting our dining experience off to a bit of a rough start especially given the price for the brunch buffet however, this was all quickly forgotten once we sat down and Chip came by to greet our table and take pictures with our little one who thoroughly enjoyed the character visits. I only wish we got to see more of Minnie and Mickey as the two characters that repeatedly kept coming by were Chip and Dale, along with a couple occasional visits from Pluto. The buffet had a decent selection of food, especially if you're a meat lover as we got to enjoy some salmon, bacon, sausage, as well as pork belly and turkey from the carving station. Be prepared for a wait at the buffet line as the lines got increasingly long after around 11:15am. I also liked how they had a good selection of pastries and sweet treats like chocolate cupcakes and warm bread pudding with a vanilla sauce. Note, we were told by the lady at the front desk that they do not validate. As we had parked at Downtown Disney, we did make a $20+ purchase at DT Disney in order to qualify for $10 parking.

Yelp
What an amazing place to go! I have been here many times, but the ambience never ceases to amaze me and fill me with awe. The servers top-notch, and the characters make you feel like you are another part of the family. The food was amazing, and desserts were the best part of it all. They would cook you to your liking, and just about everything is magical. My nieces, my wife, and I had a wonderful time. I highly recommend this place. Make sure you're able to afford it before you come as it's not cheap.

Yelp
Here, at the Grand Californian Hotel on a Wednesday in May, we enjoyed the best Disney breakfast buffet ever. The huge selection of food included fresh-made scrambled eggs, a variety of breads with little rolls of French butter, custom omelettes and eggs over easy, super fresh fruit, delicious carnitas chilaquiles, and more. There was also a dessert bar with bananas Foster French toast and a divine bread pudding with a vanilla custard sauce. Too many bread puddings are dry and chewy; this one was light, creamy, and melt-in-your-mouth. The decor and ambience were lovely. Service was smooth, attentive, and professional. Our waiter, Juan, was great with our twin granddaughters. The Disney characters--Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip, and Dale--were also great, patiently signing autographs, posing for photos, and making the children giggle. My husband and I have been going to Disney World in Florida for over forty years, and we took our children to many character meals and breakfast buffets. None of them were as nice as this one.

Yelp
This is my 3rd time here and each time I go I like it more and more. I went for another birthday celebration and had a great time enjoying the good and characters! At almost $60 per adult it is on the pricier side. However that's on par with other brunch buffets and you also get the Disney characters. So I think it's worth it. This works also be a cool way to enjoy some Disney fun without having to go into the parks. There are plenty of food options for most food restrictions. They also have food that would appeal to adults and kids. The highlights for me were the kale salad, chilaquiles, fresh sliced turkey, and of course the Mickey Waffles! I like that the characters just go around and visit the tables. They will hang for a bit if you want or just stop briefly depending on the vibe you give them. I say them standing around and talking with some kids. So I think I better take mine back soon. My husband who is not a Disney person enjoyed himself enough. If you have one of those in the group, seat them on the inside of the booth so the characters really don't "bother" them. They used to do a little parade around the dining room every 20 minutes of so but they no longer do that. Now they just stop by the tables frequently. Valet Parking is free for 3 hours with your Storytellers reservation. Then it's SEVENTY DOLLARS for one hour after that. So do not be late!

Yelp
We love this cafe so much! It's always a great time coming here for breakfast with my family. The food is always on point and flavorful. The staffs customer service is unmatched and the ambiance is what it truly should feel like.....the happiest place in earth!

Yelp
Great breakfast experience! Arriving at the resort we were able to park valet, 3 hours complimentary. We had 9am reservations for the Holiday Pajama Party, we arrived a little early but after check in we were able to visit the gift shop. Once our table was ready we received a text to return to the front counter. Walking in we were able to see all the characters, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Chip & Dale. As soon as we were seated we ordered our freshly squeezed OJ and coffee. The buffet had a great selection of brunch items to include tri-tip, bagels and lox, Mickey shaped waffles and many other breakfast options. Our kids had the opportunity to meet all the characters as they visited with every table and parade around the entire restaurant. The service was exceptional. This was such a magical experience!

Yelp
My first time here on a friend's invite for Saturday morning brunch. As Disney as it was, the place was very cozy and not overwhelmingly large or crowded - I was pleasantly surprised. I was also expecting your typical American breakfast offerings of scrambled eggs, sausage and such. They had those along with an omelette station and a carver serving sirloin steak and roasted chicken(?). My favorites: smoked salmon, Mickey Belgian waffles, fresh fruit. Unfortunately, the steak was pretty but dry and hard to chew. My friend said the omelette was lacking taste, though that could've had to do with the ingredients he chose. We were blessed to get a table across from the buffet and next to the main path - we got multiple visits from all the characters which gave us lots of photo ops!

Yelp
My friend was having a Disney birthday and we came to celebrate. We made our reservation well in advance for brunch. Food: They have the regular hotel breakfast items, meats, pastries, fruits, smoked salmon, and an omelette station. The omelette was really good even though there was a wait. They had mickey waffles, but it was burnt. Character dining: I think the characters make a round every 30mins then take a small break and come back again. - Chip & Dale: I adore them. They spent time at every table and definitely made the experience worthwhile. - Pluto was so cute and funny. - Minnie takes her time. - Mickey was disappointing. He ignored our table twice. The service was good and he sang happy birthday to the birthday girl. Overall, I don't think character dining is worth it if you got a full table of adults. The characters prioritizes the table with children and Mickey completely ignored our table twice. We ended up going to Mickey's house for Mickey at disney. The only stand out of the foods is the omelet. Get the omelet!
