The 14 Best Restaurants In Manchester - Manchester - The Infatuation

"The kiss of the grill defines the food at Stow, a casual, stylish, modern European restaurant and cocktail bar, and its convenient central location and noir charm draws couples on dates and groups out to celebrate something. Milk bread arrives almost cake-soft, with burnt onion butter on the side. Beetroots, red peppers and crown prince pumpkins are coal-roasted in their skins, and an ex-dairy sirloin comes properly browned outside, pink within. The open-fire philosophy carries through to dessert, with the highlight a smoked cream tart with a scorched crust that looks like molten lava. Its bitter edge is offset by seasonally changing fruit, like rum-soaked plums or gooseberries. It’s the kind of detail that, much like the moody interiors, finds its balance in a touch of brightness." - joel hart

The restaurant has a really cool concept and cool vibe. It smelt amazing walking in there. The choice of small plates was really interesting. They were all super delicious. However the star of the show was definitely the steak. It was fantastic in flavour and cooked perfectly. I also really loved the smoked tart dessert! The first time I came here, I thought it was fairly average. I was surprised by the masses of 5 star reviews and it was definitely like I was in the minority opinion. The management and staff were so amazing with us, we decided to come a second time and give it another shot. Well second time around, it was outstanding! Perhaps just a wobble after not being open so long. After the second experience we really had a fantastic time, and we will be coming back for more!

I went to the restaurant early in the evening when it was still quiet. Most of the food was really good and the mushrooms in particular were a standout, full of flavour and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, the main part of the meal, the steak, was a bit of a letdown. The flavour was fine, but it clearly hadn't been rested properly. The plate was full of juice, and the steak itself was quite tough and not what I expected. Service was good. The server was friendly and did a great job explaining the menu. Overall, it was a mixed experience. Some excellent food and good service, but the main dish didn’t quite deliver.

Absolute little gem of a restaurant 😍. The food was out of this world, service was fabulous...best we've experienced. If you can, sit at the chefs table for the 'crack' and entertainment...fab to watch your supper being cooked and we loved the nod to Derbyshire inclusions to the drinks and food menu. We'll be back. Congratulations to the newly weds too.🥳

We came for our anniversary meal and the staff had left a card on the table for us, signed by everyone on shift. It was a lovely surprise and so simple but really made our evening special. All the staff were super friendly, even the chefs in the open kitchen. Our server was super helpful in telling us what was gluten free on the menu, as well as how things were cooked. 10/10 evening. All of our friends had raved about Stow and now we know why. The steak was one of the best we’ve ever had, unreal taste. Get it or you’ll regret it. We can’t wait to come back!

Had a lovely dinner at Stow in Manchester. The sirloin steak was perfectly cooked and full of flavour, and the crab ragu was a standout—rich, fresh, and satisfying. We also enjoyed the flatbread, which was a great start to the meal. Warm service and a relaxed atmosphere made it an easy favourite.

Stow is just fantastic. The food and drinks were top notch. I think it was some of the best service I’ve had recently. From the moment we arrived until leaving we were well looked after. The owners, chefs, bar staff and wider team were just lovely. The atmosphere they have created is amazing in there. A real gem in Manchester! Can’t wait to go back already! Thanks guys x

If you're in Manchester, live nearby, or even if you're far away, you must come here! We absolutely loved it. Each dish was packed with flavors, and since everything is cooked over an open fire, the dishes have this gorgeous, subtly roasted flavor. I highly recommend making the trip, as I don't think you'll be disappointed. The scallops and the mackerel were definite winners for me, yet I couldn't fault any of the other dishes. It's a shame I live so far away from this restaurant; if only I could take it with me! Locals, don't miss out on this gem. You won't regret it! I hope you get a chance to try it out, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

Celebrated my partners birthday at Stow and couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience. We got there early and had cocktails recommended to us in the bar area. There was a birthday card waiting for us on the table in the restaurant which was a lovely personal touch. The food was incredible! The steak was so fresh and flavourful. The staff members were very attentive and the atmosphere was great. Thank you for a wonderful night we will definitely be returning soon.
