The 23 Best Restaurants In Salt Lake City - Salt Lake City - The Infatuation

"This Italian hotspot is an ode to ancestral recipes, and both the owner’s parents help out to create Matteo’s signature dishes. Don’t miss the bread service with focaccia baked by Matteo’s mother, the housemade pastas like lasagne al ragu and tagliatelle alla bolognese, or the parmigiano reggiano-topped risotto modena. Matteo’s recently moved downtown, expanding into a larger location with a beautiful bar, private dining room, and complimentary valet service. It’s also now across the street from the historic Capitol Theatre, making it a perfect stop for pre-ballet bites." - jenny willden

Google
Fun and convenient for an affordable, quick and authentic Italian lunch or dinner. Pair any pasta with the sauce of your choice. The panini selections are excellent too. Easy dining and well priced!

Google
This place appealed to the part of me that misses living in Boston and having some of the best pasta outside of Italy at my fingertips. Congratulations on opening—l know l will be back!

Had some sort of miscommunication with the staff. They gave me a chicken parm. I asked for the picante. No big deal. Spent 41$ before tip on the meal check the receipt and the portion. Good food but worth as a every week splurge? Im not sure.

Google
So happy to have a new lunch spot open up, especially authentic Italian food. The gnocchi bolognese was extremely good!

Google
Bolognese? Heavenly. The Don Grasso was everything I hoped it would be. True, authentic Italian food. Unreal flavor, and the people are genuinely amazing. Shoutout to Yutana, such an amazing guy, he really took care of us.

Google
Must stop if you love Italian! We came in for a week night date night, and loved everything we tried. This place is going to be so busy once everyone figures out they are here now. Great for the price especially!!!

Yelp
This casual eatery is new to 300 South and from what I hear very busy at lunchtime and expanding for more seating. It is a more affordable version of Matteo down the street, with fewer options, lower prices, but the same quality food. It was pretty quiet when we stopped in at 5pm on a weeknight. But started picking up quickly. Very helpful Yutana explained the menu options at the counter and guided our choices. We went with the bucatini pasta with a pomodoro sauce and then tartufo panini. Food came out quickly. The pasta portion was small but the sandwich was large. The sauce was thick and covered the thick noodles. The cheese in the sandwich was gooey and delicious. I'm sure most everything in the menu is good but our options were limited. I would like it if they identified with a "V" the vegetarian items as they do the gluten free pasta with "GF". Would I return? Perhaps, but for the price and setting, I would appreciate more pasta. The gelato sounded great but it's not hand-dipped, it's pre-packed in cups in the freezer. We didn't try it. Maybe next time.

Yelp
Make no mistake about this - I was genuinely excited to see this restaurant come to be before it opened, and my first visit there was very pleasant; I was treated with friendly and appreciative respect and knew I would be returning one evening. And that was last evening. And for the way I was treated, I don't think I will return. I ordered their house salad, spaghetti with pomodoro and a side order of meatballs. When my salad was brought to the counter, I expected it to be brought to me as a salad should be before the main course. But it sat there for nearly seven minutes while the server did nothing until my spaghetti and meatballs came up, and he brought everything to me at once. I asked why I didn't get the salad first, and his reply was the restaurant brings everything to you at once, which I strenuously disapproved. Still, I chose to finish my salad first before eating my spaghetti, but by the time I was ready, the spaghetti was predictably cold and tasteless. I was disgusted by this sensation and asked for a to-go container to take my dinner home to reheat. There were NO apologies from my server even though I'm certain he knew how I felt. I know how hard it is for a restaurant to start up and remain in operation, and I wanted to like this place a lot as a repeat customer. but after what happened last night, I cannot see myself returning. "Arrivederci", Strada.

Yelp
Food was excellent. They have done a great job at making a fast casual Italian place while still maintaining good quality food you'd expect from Matteo. Pasta was perfectly cooked. The bread on the chicken parm was perfectly crispy. My wife and I got red wine which was nicely chilled. Our food came out extremely fast. My only critique would be the 5000k lighting and techno music that was playing wasn't the ambiance I'd pick personally. It is possible the faster music got people in and out of their tables quicker, but I think a dimmer switch and more chill music would go a long ways. We're excited to go back and try other items!

Yelp
I haven't been to Matteo's yet but wanted to try their sister restaurant to see if it was worth! I think overall it wasn't a bad experience! You can tell this restaurant is new and that's okay! The lady at the front was very nice & she handled being the only worker/server during a dinner rush! I do think the inside is a little boring. I would like more decorations or made to feel more cozy. There were bright almost hospital like lights that I def would tone down a bit. For the food, I do think it was very tasty! the meatballs were yummy and pretty filling for an appetizer! Unfortunately my Vodka sauce was kind of bland. The description said there was pancetta but when I was looking I saw none! My fiancés sauce however was super tasty!

Yelp
Holy cow - this food was so good I had to write a review before leaving the restaurant. I got the #1 and could honestly eat this sandwich every day for the rest of my life. The bread was light and crispy and paired perfectly with the creamy burrata, mortadella & pistachio sauce. Truly perfection. My husband got the chicken parm sandwich which was so flavorful, light and crispy. The place was beautiful, clean and bright and the service was impeccable! Can't wait to come back and try more.

Yelp
I have heard rave reviews of this restaurant but the two times I have had the food, it has been tasteless and overpriced. In particular, the chicken Cesar salad was all lettuce with very little cheese and a ton of croutons. The dressing was bland. The chicken was okay. I don't remember want pasta I had but it was bland as well.

Yelp
My new favorite lunch spot in the area. I'm typically in SLC a week a month and on my last visit I had lunch here 4 of 5 days while at the office. Great food and service. I look forward to coming back and trying the rest of the sandwiches on their menu.

Yelp
Hands down the best lunch option in DT SLC. Matteo brought all of the best from his high end restaurant to a more casual concept at a lower price point. Great decor, music, and vibe. I look forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu! Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food and service. Downtown SLC has been in serious need of some really good Italian food during normal working hours, and Strada came in with some of the best I've ever had. The Bucatini Bolegnese is incredible, and the atmosphere is super inviting. I hope Strada is around for years to come!
