Pizza tasted OK, but as the name of the place is Straight From New York Pizza, I was expecting a more NY-style taste... That was disappointing. Better than a chain pizza (and the large is definitely HUGE), but did not live up to my NY pizza expectations.
The above isn't why I rated it 1* though... the customer service (or, more specifically, lack there-of), is what's really driving the 1* rating...
So we're visiting family that lives in Salem. Father-in-law places pizza order (and does so on speaker phone). Pizza place answers, asks if they can put him on hold. No big deal, but they simply put the phone down and we wait, and wait, and wait while we hear noise in the background but no-one coming back to phone. After a few minutes, thinking they forgot about us and we'll call back -- then all of a sudden, bam, they finally get back to take our order.
Order was for 2 large pizza's, one of which only half should have cheese. He stated it VERY clearly, and the person taking the order repeated it back exactly! Yes, no-cheese may be quite uncommon, but if you request your pizza be made a certain way and the person taking the order REPEATS it back to you, presumably they not only physically heard, but psychologically listened...
Father-in-law goes to get the pizza and brings it back home. Pizza's again are HUGE! Guess what -- FULL cheese...
Father-in-law calls up pizza place (again on speakerphone) to voice his frustration. AGAIN he is put on hold (after the person answers phone, asks him what he wants to order, and only THEN, after realizing it's a complaint...) person eventually comes back and is completely apathetic about the whole situation. No real apology... They did state they'd take his name and put it on file to offer a free pizza, but didn't seek his last name, so who knows if that "free" pizza will truly be there...
