I love the atmosphere here! We sat at the bar and received great service. If you sit at the bar you can offer food directly from the bartender but when sat at the table you have to go stand in line to order. It’s family friendly so there were people of all ages. They have a little outdoor area to sit but they don’t allow dogs. The pizza flavor was delicious but the toppings made the crust soggy so you have to be careful when holding your slice to eat. Definitely would recommend and I plan on returning!

Google
Phenomenal beers and outstanding Buffalo chicken pizza. Customer service was on point- got there at opening and already at least 10 people waiting to get in- within 30 minutes super busy. Gorgeous venue. I will return for sure. The Belgian tripel is in my top 5 favorite beers ever- wish they had cans of it.

Google
One of the best breweries I’ve been too in some time. Incredible variety of beers. Their Turkey Dinner sour stout should not be overlooked. The food equally matched the great beers on tap. A must visit in Rochester.

Chelsea Snyder

Google
Great drinks, great food! Perfect spot to sit outside with a group. Plenty of parking in small, on-site parking lot or street. Food is so tasty! Wood fire pizzas and salads are a level above brewery food.

Google
We really enjoyed stopping by this place while visiting from out of town. The space is big and open but doesn't feel like a warehouse. The beer was on point, and we really liked the Kentucky Common. I am always happy to see lots of different styles. They also had a bunch of different selections of things besides beer if that's your jam, and some non-alcoholic options. I just wish there was a designated ordering spot at the bar; it was a little hard to squeeze in between people since it was so busy. The pizza was good, and they have some other food options, too. They have some beer available to go in 4 packs.

Google
Fantastic selection of beers especially if you like hazy IPAs. I’d recommend any of the IPAs and the sours were very good as well. The food is top notch. They had crab rangoon nachos on the specials menu which were amazing - the dip was creamy, tangy, and full of crab. The chicken sandwich was solid but the smash burger really stood out. If you’re looking for great food and even better beer, then this is the place.

Google
Surprise Father's Day lunch , first time here and I'm super sad it took me so long to visit . I have had their beers to go , but never stopped in for food . And they didn't disappoint. We started with a pizza , which was cooked perfectly, only thing that would have made it better would be they should have used cup & char pepperoni. For my main dish I went with the fried chicken sandwich. Perfectly cooked and it had some spice . My son got the smash burger and he said it was great and my wife shaved salad and she raved about it . And of course all of the beers were on point and my wife loved the cocktails. Also my sons loved the craft pops . Definitely make strangebird a must visit .

Google
Just visited this past weekend. Great bear, great bartenders. The only downside was the a/c seemed to be working at only 1/4 % capacity or so, and it was over 90 outside Sunday. I asked about it and was told its always like that unfortunately. We were going to stay longer and grab some food, but decided against it since it was hotter inside than out

Yelp
This is my experience take it pr leave it. This is a take away review so no service or ambiance in this one. Strange bird is on point! One of the best if not the best place to get pizza in rochester. The buffalo chicken is the best in rochester by far and I highly recommend it. Haven't gotten anything that I haven't wanted to get again. Their beer is solid as well. If you are looking for great pizza you can find it here.

Yelp
Fun times at this spot and plenty of space indoors and outdoors to hang out. Got the burger and wings for dinner and good choices to go with. Double smashed patty tasted great with the seasoning and crisp on the patty. The garlic parm wings were tasty as well. Plenty of meat on the bones and crisp on the skin. For those wanting a cool place with a good atmosphere to hangout...this is it.

Yelp
Amazing pizza and good smash burger (could be better!) fries are phenomenal! Drinks are good too. Can get busy quickly and parking can be tricky But totally worth it Prices are decent too
google avatar

Yelp
We love "the bird". The beer, the drinks, the food and service is all on point. We come here often and enjoy the rotating beer and food menu. Such a fun place and the staff is great and always willing to offer suggestions for food and drink. Well done gang!

Yelp
De.lic.ious food! Soooooo happy they have vegan cheese for the pizzas, not only that but it's the best pizza I've had in ny, wow oh wow!! Perfected pizza dough, perfectly cooked, awesome sauce, outstanding vegan cheese!! Now for the fries!!!! I dream of these fries, it comes with lemon aioli that can be vegan too which I appreciate, this sauce makes dreams come true!!! The service is great and everyone is friendly, the parking is packed full all the time because it's a very small parking lot and it's on a very busy small street.

Yelp
I definitely understand why Strangebird was voted one of the best breweries in the country. A large variety of beers for all tastes. I'm not the biggest fan of beer, but their sour selection was perfectly refreshing and not too wheat forward. There's a separate bar and food counter, which was nice for quick food service. All the menu items sounded delicious as well. I'll definitely be back to try more of their beer and menu items
google avatar

Yelp
Beer and food are very good. Nice community vibe inside. Parking in the lot is tight, I would recommend off street instead.

Yelp
I dont understand why I had not been here sooner. We can here on an early Friday evening around 5:30pm or so. To give you an idea it's off Monroe you take a turn down one of the side streets and you arrive in an area I in all honesty had not seen before. Some nice houses, a park and a decent view of downtown. They have their own parking lot but it was already filled up. Just be advised you may need to park on the street. They have a deck outside for dining/drinking. While here some were sitting outside. We went inside it's large and slightly industrial the color scheme is white and bright. The best thing you can do is first is find a seat, than order your beers/cocktails at the bar than order food. There are two different places for this. You order your food and they give you a number and they bring it to you and you wait at the bar for your drinks. Luckily I went online to get an idea of good a drinks prior. But they do have a menu at the bar and when you order your food they have a menu above the register so you can order. These are the food items we go both excellent and here's a better description from the website. I got: FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH (e without bun) sichuan chili oil, cabbage slaw, comeback sauce, sesame roll served with fries. My friend got: BBQ CAULIFLOWER V SANDWICH (@without bun & onions) cherry bba, braised greens, crispy onion, cheddar, sesame roll, served with fries We recommend both and the fries were tasty as well. We got a few cocktails and both delicious and interesting. Honestly they were a nice surprise as who would have thought to make an Old Fashioned with mescal and my drink I would think would be a big hit during the warmer months. I got the JUNGLEBIRD jamaican rum, campari, pineapple, lime, smoked maple And my friend got : MEZCAL OLD FASHIONED mezcal, agave, orange bitters Now they have beer of course and other things to imbibe or not. Everything was tasty and I'd for sure come back. A few things to know it's loud it is what it is but know you can hear your friends at the dinner table. When we found our table in the back there was no one around when we arrived with our drinks a lot of people showed up in the same area. So just an FYI., I'd give it a 4 outta 5 Enjoy

Yelp
I loved the bbq dry rub wings. I kid you not, they are the BEST wings I have ever had. Service is quick and efficient and the food is fresh, hot and delicious. The fries were also very good. It's nice how much space there is indoors and outdoors, that they're able to accommodate a big group of people. The drink options are plenty and my favorite was the lychee cocktail. I can't wait to come back and try more drinks and food items on their menu!
google avatar

Yelp
When in Rochester this brewery is a must visit. The space is large to accommodate many. Beer selection is probably one of the most rounded you find anywhere. They have stouts, IPAs, lagers, ales and just your typical light beer. Plenty to choose from which is really unheard of in the brewery business. Glad they had things beyond IPAs. While you sipping on some great brews grab some food. They have great pizzas and burgers that compliment your libations. The staff was on top of things and quickly made sure to take of you always. This is a great place to visit when in Rochester. They also have coolers to get their beers to go!
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
A very spacious and bright brewery tucked away on a side street residential neighborhood. They possess a wide variety of beer and some interesting food selections. I was hungry but didn't feel like typical brewery food so I ordered the summer vegetable Caesar salad. It was delicious!!! The service was quick and attentive as well.

Yelp
Finally made it over to Strangebird and had an average first experience. It seems like every time we have wanted to go in the past, it's been with a group, and it's always so packed inside, that we have never tried to wait. This time we decided to go right at opening time (noon) on a Saturday. I could not believe the parking lot was already full at 11:50 am when we arrived!! Despite several other groups having the same idea, we were able to get a table, and within an hour the place was 90% full! We were a group of 5 and ordered all veggie options, and got a few made vegan. We were a little disappointed that they gave us a specials menu, but most of the specials were already finished - so I took off a star for that because I think it shows a lack of attention to detail. Food quality was very good for the things we ordered, but most everything was overly seasoned and too salty; another slightly disappointing thing was their lack of gluten free options...to make a sandwich gluten free you just leave off the bread...no options for the mac and cheese or pizza... but maybe in the future. Also, although I liked the interior space, the serve-yourself water station, the big windows and great light, the overall vibe with the staff was like they were all tired and just going through the motions; folks were not very friendly or forthcoming with info when asked questions, and it kind of felt unwelcoming. Could just be that the night before was slammed, or that the particular staff had all also been out too late ...not sure, but it was noticeable and everyone at our table remarked about it. Anyway, they are obviously very popular, and probably have good and bad days like most places these days, so we will most likely try them again another time.

Yelp
Great brew pub, excellent food, beers, and service. Wonderful atmosphere for a lunch with friends and an evening of drinks.

Yelp
We loved this place. The pizza is amazing. Oven cooked and great retro-ish vibe. It was such a fun upbeat town
google avatar

Yelp
Good beer and pizza in downtown Rochester. This place is located in a cool industrial building. Lots of seating and TVs for sports!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice place. A mature crowd, however we saw a huuuge table of 20-30 year olds. The food: we had hot wings. More sweet but not over the top with a tinge of heat. (We like hot) sweet was just a tinge as well. We got a smash burger. Was good but had quite a bit of salt on edges. Not unbearable. There is an alright ale selection- passable. We sat out in the sun 5:30 pm on a Sunday in July 7th, on the patio. - nice. Less noise. Not that it was kooky noisy. Service- was quick despite being a full house
google avatar

Kimberly G.

Yelp
We were visiting our college student in the area and this place was recommended to us. We were not disappointed. The BBQ cauliflower sandwich was absolutely delicious and everyone enjoyed their drinks. I got the sangria, which was flavorful but not overly sweet. My daughter got the Taste of Paradise cocktail and husband tried the Rainbow Slippah sour. All were very good. Only minor critique is that the fries were a little salty. We'll definitely go back on our next visit.

Phillip F.

Yelp
Wonderful selection of craft beers plus a full bar and terrific food make this one of the top brewery destinations in Rochester. Their pizza is outstanding and their menu changes frequently.

Yelp
Ok, I've been to Strangebird before - I think I had the burger to go - it was delicious! This time I opted for the fried chicken sandwich to go, which has received rave Yelp reviews. I have to say, the fries that accompanied the sandwich were perfection! The perfect amount of crispness and seasoning. The sandwich however, was a bit disappointing. Everyone raves about the crisp coating, but too me it was oddly hard. There was no discernable seasoning on the outer coating, which was so crisp that it was hard to bite. It was not a classic fried chicken coating and was almost unpleasant. Note - it was not burnt or overcooked. The chicken inside was thin and tough. The comeback sauce and the slaw was excellent!

Yelp
Great ambiance at strangebird - the location is good and it's a fun spot with plenty of outdoor seating. The pizzas are very good, and I appreciated that they had lots of vegetarian options. Beer was great with tons of variety and many different IPAs!

Yelp
Ahh the health score was definitely a turn off for me not coming here a long time ago. But happy hour called and I decided to just give this place a try. Small outdoor patio to the entrance of the main door. Huge interior with a mix of high and low tops. Sit yourself first or order food and drinks at the counters and then sit. Food comes out straight to the table so thats a plus! Everything was actually very tasty. From the delicious elote corn dip and chips to the buffalo chicken pizza! Although its not table service, multiple wait staff came to the table to check on my party which was a nice touch. For drinks, the devils kiss is great. Im used to a little more smokey mezcal but otherwise the drink was spot on. My guest tried the hibiscus soda and loved it. The summer salad is also a nice meal but a little salty. The only downside to the meal were the number of flies swarming around. Parking is plentiful in the area.

Yelp
Amazing food and amazing drinks! The staff we friendly and accommodating. Might be the best pizza in NY!
google avatar

Sebastiao M.

Yelp
Cannot recommend enough, my favorite restaurant in the region and the best brewery I've tried in NY
google avatar

Melissa P.

Yelp
I had the cherry bbq cauliflower sandwich with fries and it was really good. I would definitely recommend. The service was good. The ambiance was very lively but good.

Trisha G.

Yelp
I adore the vibe of this place. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and made with love and care! The pizzas are always excellent too. Staff is always friendly and welcoming as well.

James S.

Yelp
Beer selection is outstanding. Parking after 4:30 PM is non-existent. After street roaming for a place (their lot is packed) found a place to park. There was a sign but the times permitted were obscured by stickers. We parked. Six other cars parked in the same area. Came out an hour later to find a$115 and dollar parking ticket. The other cars parked there had the same. Close to a $1k for RPD. It's a residential neighborhood and if you don't mind a hike and/or a stiff fine, drive there. Consider Uber.
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
Such a fun spot! The food and drinks are great for a date or a group get-together. They have some unique flavors and really delicious pizza. The parking lot is a little tight, but there's also street parking!
google avatar

Gordon C.

Yelp
The food here was awesome! The summer vegetable Caesar was a unique take on Caesar salad -- with fresh seasonal vegetables instead of lettuce. The kids loved the Mac and cheese with light breaded and perfectly fried chicken (+$6). You order and pay at the counter, take a number, and they bring your food to you. Water is self-service. Service is surprisingly attentive, with staff checking on you, and clearing tables promptly. There's a nice casual vibe to the place. Would definitely eat here again.
google avatar

Amy G.

Yelp
Went here to try the gluten free food and it was delicious! Great fried chicken and the fries were so good as well! Definitely will go back again!!
google avatar

Yelp
Enjoyed a great lunch outside with my husband and twenty-something daughter. What we liked: Summer veg ceasar salad. Every element was well-done. Pleasing to the eye, great mix of textures, amazing dressing. We had the mushroom pizza and the plain pizza. The mushroom pizza was delicious and unusual. The plain pizza was perfectly done. Not soggy! Amazing crust with nice charred bubbles on the edge. We are not drinkers so we had not visited previously but we will be back. You can tell that a lot of thought and care has gone into this place. We definitely recommend.

Scott W.

Yelp
We went today (5/30 at 1:30 PM) for lunch and a few drinks. The food was solid, but the service at the bar was horrendous and completely ruined our experience. The woman serving us was not only excruciatingly slow but she would not even make eye contact to say she would be over. While I get the craft cocktail thing, it took her so long to make cocktails that we nearly left. Our drinks were simple-- 2 glasses of wine that she had to measure, a Beefeater and tonic that was measured precisely to the top of the small part of a jigger-exactly 1 ounce --and a beer. They charge $15.12 for a glass of Pinot Grigio.. I'm not pissed about the $15 but the 12 cents? I would excuse most of the above if she just would have made eye contact and left us reassured that she would be over. This place needs a complete overhaul by a beverage professional. You need to charge the .12 cents on a glass of wine? Your bartender needs to measure a glass of wine? And use a jigger to pour precisely 1 ounce cocktails??! If you do decide to go: be prepared to wait a considerable amount of time, and order a beer....
google avatar

Kathryn T.

Yelp
Their food is so amazing! It is worth to go because pizza was great and even drinks too!!! Their service was amazing and they did inform me when I asked to make a reservation. They were very nice and explained that they only do first come and first serve. After 6 PM is usually busy. The ambiance is nice and very relaxing. They have two parking lots to park which is easy to access to the restaurant.

Yelp
In town from Cleveland, just picked a random spot. So glad it was Strangebird. The best mushroom pizza I have ever had (and I've had plenty.) Loved the music, loved the decor, and appreciated the fast service.
google avatar

Joseph B.

Yelp
I really like Strangebird and have been a few times now, all different vibes of "busy." One can have cocktails, wine, and beer. The menu is varied and unique. The staff really moves things along. In my experience service was quite lovely and efficient at each station. Recently when a few friends and I arrived on a particularly hectic day, a staff member came over almost immediately to set us up with a table to claim, saving us a search through the crowded dining rooms--a very nice touch! I want to explore more of the menu next time and look forward already to my next visit.
google avatar

Paula J.

Yelp
Great ambiance, big bars, lots of seating. I like that the food ordering location is separate from where you order drinks. Good drink selection, though I wish there were some sour options. Food is always good, I love the pizzas and Mac n cheese!
google avatar

Christopher B.

Yelp
A great selection of their many varieties of brews - a solid range with multiple choices in several styles- so no matter your preference as long as you like beer they'll be several choices for you - and they have good food in their kitchen - The mushroom and black garlic pizza is awesome. Been here twice and everyone- bar, floor, and kitchen has always been friendly and working together so the whole place runs well. It does get busy as it is popular for reasons.
google avatar

Lida K.

Yelp
They need to add to their selection for salads but overall it's great atmosphere, excellent service!
google avatar

Willow P.

Yelp
This was a strange experience (no pun intended). I'm fortunate I went with someone who had already been there because otherwise I would have had no clue that we would not have table service. There is no staff at the door or signage to tell you anything . You have to go to the bar yourself and get your drinks which is not so weird. But...you have to go to a food counter and order your own food too. It had a very cafeteria-like vibe to the ordering process. Again, very strange. Then comes the food. This is the only time you will see anything remotely resembling a server. The temperature of the food was good. The fries are soooo good but the pizza was a huge disappointment. The center of it was extremely soggy and the edges were burnt. I really should have asked them to remake it but it had already taken awhile and I was hungry. So, altogether a two star rating for poor ambiance, lack of communication, confusing ordering process and burnt food. I will not return. I'll take a few steps to the side and go to Owl House where I have never been disappointed. I feel this is what I get for trying something new.

Yelp
Decided to check this spot out on a Sayurday afternoon. First, they do have a large off street parking area as well as street parking. There is a nice outdoor patio area too but it was hot! Inside, it's a clean, warm industrial vibe with a large bar area as well as table seating. While we were there, it was a mix of customers from families, friend groups etc. You seat yourself. Each table has a menu. The service is a bit different. You order drinks at the bar and food separately from a different counter. The directions are on top of the menu. You can open a tab at the bar for both. After ordering food, you get a number to bring to your area and the food is brought out to you. I'm not a beer drinker so we had a cocktail with lunch. They have a nice choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options besides beer. For food, we tried the chicken sandwich and the smashed burger. Both were good. The chicken was crispy with good seasoning. The crispness held up even with the toppings. I added an extra patty to the burger and skipped the bun. It was satisfying. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. Definitely a spot worth checking out and we're keeping it on our list for later!

Yelp
Late lunch or Early dinner. Thirties something crowd, nice vibe, large seating area. Seat yourself. Order your drinks at the bar and bring them to your table. Order food at the counter at the back of the restaurant. They give you a numbered flag and bring the order to your table. Pizza, wings, good bar fare. Several TVs show sports. Parking outside, near downtown. Nice place. Try any pizza with pickled onions, they are delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
Lunch at the bar at StrangeBird...nothing better. We ordered beer flights with help from our vet knowledgeable bartender. He was able to remember and line them up in order to his credit..major fete. For lunch we had the special brisket sandwich with cheese onion straws and pickles. House made barbecue sauce and mayo. Had mine on the side. The brisket was to die for.. slabs of moist meat with that tasty bark from a long cook. OMG! So good. The bartender wasn't wrong in saying if they have anything barbecue on the menu you must order it . They have a chef who loves his smoker out back. Better than on my annual friends trip to Texas!!
google avatar

Yelp
A new absolute favorite spot for great beer and food with friends. Anyone who says "Rochester already has enough breweries" doesn't get it and needs to reevaluate their lives. I am AMAZED at the wealth of good beer in our city and Strangebird adds to that legacy and expands upon it. The space itself is stunning - inside and out. There's a garage area that's dedicated to can pickup, and then the interior is angular with a long bar for beer and (delicious) cocktails, with a food counter towards the back. The pizzas are amazing, along with the cauliflower sandwich - do NOT skip. I love the patio area and can't wait to hang here all summer long. Make it part of your new routine and enjoy a lovely night on Marshall street.

Yelp
Pretty good beer, really good food! The Mac and cheese was delicious and the fries came with a lemon aioli dipping sauce...yummy! My husband had an IPA and really liked it. I had two tasters, one being a sour. It wasn't very sour, which was a bit disappointing, but it was still okay. We were here around 7 on a Saturday night and it was packed inside. We were able to find a table outside and we're pleasantly surprised that they had highchairs since our two year old was with it. The crowd was pretty mellow. I'd definitely come here again, especially if I was looking to get food.
google avatar

Caitlin V.

Yelp
Liked this place quite a bit. Roomy but still cozy interior. Food came fast. Mac & cheese was decent but needed some seasoning and was a little on the too thick/gummy side; I happily ate it but I probably wouldn't order it again. My friend got a pizza and a salad that both looked excellent, though I did not try it. The fries were out of this world amazing. Crispy and herby and came with THE most delicious lemon aioli dipping sauce. I could have eaten the entire order by myself and I haven't stopped thinking about them since my visit. Small parking lot on site and street parking available nearby. Nice outdoor patio for when it's better weather.

Brian B.

Yelp
Fun Sunday afternoon watching football and having a few cold ones and later dinner. One of the larger beer menus I've seen before for what I think is a single location - easily had 15+ of their own craft brews on tap. Big fan of the Kings County Birding Club - a fresh hop IPA. Shared a BBQ chix pizza and a reuben special which were really tasty. Not a ton of TVs - in fact use a projector to cast on a large wall, but the screen is bigger than a normal large format TV. Didn't buy, but they have beer that you can take home, and a small outdoor seating area.

Yelp
Strangebird has awesome beer, great cocktails, and good food. The only complaint is that their kitchen should stay open a little later! It closes too early in my opinion. At least have a night snack menu!

Yelp
You know when you fall asleep and have those vivid dreams where you're just happy from head to toe and wake up with a big smile on your face? Well That's how I felt hanging out at Strangebird because as soon as I had my first samples of incredible beer (Try the Pomegranate and Tequila aged barrels asap!) I knew this was the type of reoccurring dream I needed in my life. With my flight crew on my first layover in ROC, a sleepy and unassuming town; I'm so glad I used good old YELP and suggested we come here instead of the BBQ place (cmon PIZZA in NY over BBQ any day). The music was great, order your food when you're ready and have it brought to your table. I'm a mushroom-o-holic and the pizza with a variety of 'shrooms was delightful. Those charred crust bubbles; so you know it was made with love. I will say I would recommend tweaking the pork bun a tad; it was not as sweet&savory as I wanted; a bit too tart in my opinion. My friends absolutely loved Their burger and Chicken sandwich, I had a bite of the burger and it was thin, but flavorful, Loved the sesame encrusted bun and herby fries with aioli! I promised my partner I'd bring a cheese pizza home, when I tell u I smothered the crust of my leftover mushroom pizza with that black garlic paste; I SMOTHERED IT and oh boy. I can't wait to go back and try more brews and foods. Keep it up folks, you're rocking in ROC!

Yelp
Needed somewhere to grab lunch and this was such a funky little spot just a quick walk from downtown Rochester. It's a self-seated cafeteria style bar and kitchen. You order drinks at the bar, food at the kitchen, and it's brought out to you. I got the pomegranate margarita (delicious and strong!) and the smash burger, and my boyfriend got their stout (so many beers on tap btw!) and Nduja pizza. My burger and fries were delicious, and the pizza was good but had some strange aspects to it, as it was topped with raw asparagus, adding a bit of a strange crunch that you're not always ready for with pizza. I think it would have been better off roasted and with more Nduja as it was a little chintzy. Both were delicious nonetheless and we polished everything off with ease. Not too expensive - $65 for two entrees, two drinks and tip, but considering there's not as much "service" as a restaurant I found it a little bit expensive. Would definitely try it again as there were a good amount of food options that you don't see often, you could definitely find something new to try here!

Yelp
This is a relatively new brewpub on Marshall St. in what was a co-op. We went on a Friday around 6:30 and it was "hopping". We did get a hightop table and settled in with 2 brews. My friend got a malty stout and I got the Sly Move hazy IPA- which was pretty light but good. We ordered wings (7) and a sausage pizza to split- both were excellent. We got the smoky maple wing sauce. The 2nd beer I had was the hoppy amber- Scarlet Johopssen- and it was really full of flavor with a nice light hoppy finish. Definitely recommend this one! The atmosphere was great here too- your usual upbeat brewpub with some pipes in not too loud and not offensive tunes. I will definitely come back!
