The Eccentric Inns of England

"The Norfolk market town of Swaffham is home to Strattons Hotel, an unusual Palladian/Victorian hybrid of a house that’s been transformed into the region’s only proper luxury boutique hotel." - Mark Fedeli

Lovely little quirky hotel, and lovely little touches, they left really nice breakfast goodies in the room. They very kindly upgraded us to a bigger suite free of charge, Really lovely friendly owners (Ness and her husband Les). Absolutely loved this hotel!! |The main building was temporarily closed but it has beautiful chalet buildings all around the grounds and each little building is rented like an airbnb. This little gem is situated in the town but tucked away so it has all the amenities a stone throw away, all shops, chemists and restaurants and cafes on your doorstep. We arrived during a time where there was a festival in a nearby town so recommend that you book a taxi in advance just in case as it was fairly difficult to find a taxi available. We used the same taxi driver for all our trips as he was super friendly Tony from Watton taxis.

The perfect base to work from, and theres no way I'd be able to achieve what I did if it wasn't for the very comfortable and homely flat. Some people might struggle with the bathroom, but having both a bath and walk in shower really helped me, and my big powerchair could get around the whole flat. The couple who own it are super friendly and helpful, with nothing being a bother and again this really helped it being a stress free and relaxing process. Oh and having a projector with screen that comes down from the ceiling at a touch of a button is super cool 😎 I'll definitely be booking again when I come back.

I was recently stranded in the Swaffham area due to a car breakdown. Ness from Strattons not only offered me a room for the night at a very late hour, but personally collected me from the service station and dropped me back there the next day. The room and facilities were outstanding, and the hospitality superb.

The owners/hosts were extremely welcoming and took time to explain the history of the hotel and its buildings. ||They offered helpful tips on local places to eat and drink. ||The hotel location is discretely down a small road right in the centre of Swaffham. Very central yet still incredibly peaceful and quiet.||We had ‘the Stables’ which is a very large room/suite in the courtyard away from the main building. It was so spacious and a wonderful experience. The room was a combination of classic theatre style, quirky, artistic but also very functional. We felt at home straight away and absolutely loved the stay. ||An excellent experience. ||We will return when next in Norfolk.

We have just returned from a Christmas two night stay at this absolutely perfect hotel. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming, very accommodating and really couldn't do enough to make us comfortable, despite it being Christmas! We were upgraded to a simply stunning suite and in that we found everything we could possibly want or need. Our very spoiled pooch was also accommodated and very well cared for. We visit Norfolk regularly as we have several family members living there and we have stayed in a variety of great hotels in recent years, but this goes straight in at the top of the list. Great value for money, comfortable bed, clean room & we were lucky enough to receive a complimentary breakfast too! We will definitely be back - luxury accommodation at affordable prices - we'd be mad not to!

It is truly a luxury space. ||We stayed in the red room and it was incredible! ||The hotel is a little hidden, a narrow driveway, and then instantly, you feel a million miles away from the real world.||A casual relaxed vibe throught the whole place. ||The bathroom was a hidden door and felt like a magical tent, it's gorgeous. ||Gigantic luscious room . Large comfortable 4 poster with lux bedding.||We had our own private outdoor space also which was lovely . Safe onsite parking.|| The onsite restaurant was glorious, local, seasonal and delicious. ||Would definitely recommend!

Just tried to book a room at this hotel and have received such a rude response when enquiring about accessible rooms. There is a way to talk to potential customers and this person Ness clearly does not know how to. Disabled guests AVOID at all costs !!!

Lovely hotel with quality rooms. Lovely hosts who really look after you. Peaceful and tranquil with very nice grounds/gardens which really are delightful on a sunny day like today. I work away a lot so stay away a lot and this fantastic hotel is highly recommended. Matt.
