Stray Horse

So I came to the street horse a few times while I was staying here at the JW Marriott. The food quality was excellent. This time I just got a dessert which was the chocolate mousse dome. Not overly big so if you’re full from dinner, you can still fit this in. Nice taste. Not too sweet but sweet enough. Also got the pork chop with the sweet potato puree and brussels sprouts on another visit. Actually got that twice. Really tasty. The service was very good each time I came out. Both Angela and Herron were friendly and attentive. Way to go Stray Horse ! 🐎

Due to work I came in just as food was done. However, BIG shoutout Angela and CHEF JEAN for cooking us our RIBEYES to PERFECTION. Ambiance is relaxing! Love it here! The Galleria Mall is right across the street!

Servers are extremely friendly. Wine pours very generous. Wanted to order a bunless burger via room service. After reading reviews, we ordered our burger medium well done. The order arrived in a very timely manner but it was more medium rare to medium. We didn’t not eat. The fries however were amazing.

Inside our hotel so this was super convenient but still yummy and nice. Great atmosphere. Friendly service.

2nd time here and great experiences both times. Steak was excellent and hamburger about average. Excellent drink menu with great bourbon selection.

This place was one of the very few places open for my family and I to get a meal as we ventured out during Houston's snow day. The food was tasty.

I ordered on the 29th of April a Beyond Meat burger with fries for take away. I asked the waiter weather it’s vegan and he talked with the kitchen and reassured me that the burger is vegan. So I ordered it for my flight back. The Guacamole was missing completely. When I asked for it, they brought it a small cup which wasn’t for take away. I left without the Guacamole. When I wanted to eat it I was shocked because that was a red bean something burger but definitely NOT a Beyond Meat burger. A pic is attached. I wasn’t sooo disappointed from that poor service of this restaurant. I wanted to sort it out personally but there’s no email to report it. The phone is always redirecting me to the voice mail and kicking me out. Such a pity, that I have to report it on here instead of trying to solve such a coincidence in private. Very improve-able! All the best for you!

I had the chicken Cesar salad and it was delicious. Great service. 10/10 recommend

Used my JW Marriott resort credit here for a happy hour well drink and a drink togo. The well vodka tasted terrible. I don't remember what brand it was but for $9 just pay the extra money and get Tito's (what I did for my second drink). They were kind enough to offer bar snacks complimentary. Service was attentive, without being overly so, and friendly

Food was pretty darn good but I'm giving 3 stars due to the fact that this place is starving for staff. The poor servers/runners/bar staff did not have enough hands at all. We missed our sides that came with our entrees on TWO occasions. I 100 chalk it up to them just being run ragged. It's sad to see a spot like the JW skimp on service and not have bodies in a place that is busy.

This is essentially the hotel lobby bar, They have a great happy hour, because it's late, service is kind of slow. If you are staying at the hotel, you will probably be given a complimentary drink card - this card is good for their select cocktails :) The snacks were good. The soup was really thick. The vibe and ambiance is relaxed

First night in Houston, staying at the JW Marriott and decided instead of battling the heat, I would grab something light from downstairs at Stray Horse. Upon entering the place was empty (PERFECT for me) was greeted very warmly at the front. Placed my order for a Coors light (came out ice cold!!! ) and the grilled chicken caesar salad. A man named Haren (sp?) came up introduced himself and brought me a little stand for my phone. (I have eaten MANY places and never had this!) The salad came out and was probably the best caesar salad I have ever had. This place is a gem! The ambience, service and food are top notch, and for reasonable prices! EXCELLENT dining experience They earned this 5 star review!

I had the turkey club which was fine, the fries were nice and crispy. I also tried the Cholula cauliflower which was a touch to spicy for me but I'm a wimp. I have to give a giant shout out to the waitstaff. It looked like there were only 3 people working and one of them was a manager. They did an excellent job!

Stopped in a drink at Stray Horse. This is a bar (and restaurant) inside the JW Marriott. Ordered the Manhattan called Annexation 1845. Was a solid drink. Bartender was a bit space cadet but pleasant.

Ordered margarita at the bar with no salt. The margarita was very well balanced. I prefer mine more sweet, but this was very good. I will return.

I'm staying at the Marriott for a conference and the restaurant is located within. This is my third night eating here. Firstly, the staff is very friendly and efficient. Secondly, the food is excellent. I really didn't expect the quality and consistency for a hotel restaurant. Usually in-hotel restaurants "cater" to their captive customers. This one is par excellence. The mahi-mahi is the best I've had... better than Bone Fish. The sides are fresh and prepared to perfection. The steak is excellent. The environment is casual. What else can I say? As a foodie, I was pleasantly surprised and kept coming back despite many options within walking distance.
