15 Best Restaurants in Portland, Maine

"In a brick building on a cobblestoned side street, Street & Co. embraces Old Port’s historic New England graces and gives them a rustic Mediterranean flavor—in both atmosphere and food. For more than 30 years the seafood-centric bistro has been a gem in Portland’s ever-widening crown of marquee restaurants, and even in our current fickle food culture, the crowds still spill in to see what the enduring fuss is all about. House signatures like the scallops in Pernod and cream still shine after all these years in the spotlight, thanks to expert sautéing and a silken sauce.  If you're looking for a chance to cross something off your culinary bucket list, you’re in the right place." - Alexandra Hall

Full transparency, this is a mixed review. Every other time I’ve come here: 5 stars The most recent time I’ve been: 3 stars Figured 4 would be fair then. The most recent experience just missed the mark. From service to food, it all felt lacking. Probably the cherry on top for the mid experience was our dessert. At the time, there was an olive oil cake dessert special. I love olive oil cake because it’s moist! Unfortunately this olive oil cake was way off…dense in texture and almost stale tasting. It ate crumbly and wasn’t soft at all. After a second bite to make sure it wasn’t just a one off, the cake was sent back. While it was kind of them to offer a replacement dessert (which we politely declined as there wasn’t another dessert we wanted anyway), we left a bit disappointed in the service. For a restaurant operating at this caliber and for all the other great experiences I’ve had there, I was disappointed that even when sharing feedback on the dessert that it was still charged to the bill. It’s not about the cost, it was $13 or so after all…it just seemed to miss the mark on service.

Google
Delicious seafood restaurant that is very busy and crowded. Reservations are hard to get but if you show up when they open, they will accommodate you. Best food I've had in Portland, Maine while spending the weekend eating. I have not tried all the restaurants but if you are in town, this is a must try location. The muscles are the best ive had in a very long time.

Google
Really great seafood, must get the scallops and octopus!!! I loved the sword fish and hake fish too. Love a restaurant that also gives a basket of free bread. The drinks were good, the food took a bit long to be served, our dinner was around 2.5 hours, but we like to chat. Must try for any seafood lovers!!!

Google
An amazing meal. When we walked in a very sweet lady and her daughter told us that it’s the best seafood restaurant in Portland and that they’ve been coming there for over 10 years! She was right, this food was amazing. We had the scallops and seared blacked ahi tuna as well as a 1/2 dozen oysters and all were phenomenal. Will be back!

Very charming atmosphere and ambience. We had an amazing server who was really fun and understood our humor making for a great experience! The food was incredible, especially the halibut!

We were so lucky to grab a table here after not having a reservation when stopping in. Fabulous service - Nico our server kept us laughing the entire evening! We got the oysters, the grilled octopus, and split the lobster linguini meal and let’s just say we need a wheelboro to take us home! 10/10 will return on the way back home

Google
This cozy spot is warm and relaxed. I had the scallops in Pernod and cream, served with haricot verts and farro. The scallops were perfect—tender and full of flavor. The cream sauce was rich and buttery. I’m not usually one to rave about vegetables, but I finished every last bean. That sauce could make anything taste good. My wife had the bluefin tuna with broccolini. Perfectly cooked—clean, bright, and simple in the best way. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Friendly, genuine. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it. Come hungry, and take your time.

Made a reservation here while traveling in Portland for a week. Really great food and ice intimate vibe. We ordered a potato and leek soup, bitter greens salad, tuna tartare, and the sole francaise. I would definitely order the sole it was some of the tastiest fish I’ve ever had. Would come back if Im in town again.

Yelp
A wonderful meal! Came here without a reservation and it was packed! Thankfully got seated pretty fast. The interior was rustic yet modern. I loved the open kitchen concept as well! Ordered a bunch of seafood, all of which was amazing! Branzino - cooked perfectly, and nicely paired with the rice. Fish - also very tender, the sauce added lots of flavor. Mussels - lots of mussels and very fresh! The marinara sayce was perfect with them. Bread was also very yummy, and the staff was quick to refill. This plate hit the spot with authentic seafood, and everything was reasonably priced. I would love to come back here sometime!

Yelp
Back at one of my faves! Indulging in the Street & Co. lounge for much needed oysters and espresso martinis (wake up call) before our reservation at scales later this evening. We love a sister restaurant! Xoxox The D

Yelp
Think Italian. Think Mediterranean. Put them together and you have Street & Co. It's part of the restaurant group that owns Scales, Standard Baking Co., and Fore Street - all renowned and well rated establishments in Portland. Founded by Dana B Street in 1989, Street and Co. is a Mediterranean, bistro style, all-seafood restaurant with over 35 years of experience. It's located in the heart of Old Port district just a block away from Portland's lively working waterfront. Their menu focuses on serving the fresh seafood and ingredients available from local purveyors, fishermen and organic farmers, which is common today - but not always executed to the degree that Street & Co. does it. A good example of the above is the special of the night that I ordered - Local Bluefin Tuna Bolognese. Their chef's prepare for other dishes grilled Bluefin, etc. but there are always parts of the filet that you can't use in those dishes, due to size, shape, etc. - so they use them in a bolognese! Wonderful, flavorful, with rich and deep taste and texture - and so much like a good beef, lamb, pork bolognese. I absolutely loved it! It's Italy and the Mediterranean in one dish! My wife ordered their grilled Arctic Char and it too was spectacular. Street & Co. serves ONLY seafood - so they're good at it and that is proven by the packed house, every night, and their long, successful history. What makes it better is, it's all served in the Old Port District in a cozy street-level dining room on the cobblestones of Portland. A truly remarkable place to dine and a truly gifted staff. I have to mention our server, Tatyana who has over 20 years experience at Street & Co. She was knowledgeable, attentive, and delightful. Portland is a small city with a big city appetite for fine food and dining. As a couple of foodies - we loved it. Street & Co. was a highlight.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this restaurant about a year ago during our first trip to Maine. We were completely blown away by the ambience, quality of ingredients, delicious recipes, and thoughtful service. I remember that my significant other got the whole lobster and I was so jealous because it looked fabulous! My spaghetti with clam sauce was excellent then but that lobster was delightful. So when we came back to Maine this year, our entire party got the whole lobster each and were each doing the happy food dance in our seats. Can't wait until we come back again!

Yelp
Located on a cobblestone street in the old warehouse district this restaurant was first rate. The inside has exposed brick walls and old wooden floors creating a memorable dining experience. A tight entrance opens to a cozy bar area. Two dining rooms are off to the left side. We had a reservation and grabbed a drink in the bar while we waited a few minutes for the table to be set. I started with the oyster which were local. Wonderful salty taste. These may have been some of the best I've had. Next we shared a Bibb salad with radishes and snap peas that was outstanding. Local bread was also served. For the main courses pan seared scallops and a grilled lobster with linguine were ordered. Both were fresh and delicious. The garlic butter on both was outstanding. I think it would be impossible to get a bad meal here. Highly recommend this establishment.

Yelp
I might venture to say that my experience this Saturday 17th of August was one of the top five meals I've had anywhere. I mean, that's such a hard thing to quantify, but I had zero complaints about the food and found every bite to be exquisite. First of all, we were seated at the table for two, along the railing with a view of the kitchen. Prime real estate. Hugo was our most charming server, and did an excellent job, even warning us that requesting an extra side for each of our entrees would be overkill, and he was right! Sharing the potatoes was the perfect amount to compliment our dishes. The half-dozen oysters were top notch. Really good, really fresh. The Jonah crab sauté app was amazing. We both agreed that we could have had an enormous pie-sized one and been happy. I got the swordfish and found it to be cooked to perfection. The vegetables that accompanied it were a perfect marriage, with just the right amount of puree. Even the side of brown butter potatoes was phenomenal. Clean plate club! I greatly look forward to another opportunity to dine here.

Yelp
I made a reservation for dinner here weeks ago. When we arrived, we were told it would be a little bit before they could seat us and were asked to sit in the lounge. Unfortunately, a number of people were also asked to wait there for their table. We were not seated until close to 40 minutes after our reservation time. The host mentioned we would receive an appetizer (free) for having to wait so long. We were seated in what had to be the worst possible table. We were up against a little wall and on the other side was the servers station . So we heard dishes clattering and silver being picked up or dropped into something and the servers put in their orders there. There was a lot of activity and noise. We enjoyed our cocktails. My husband got oysters for his starter and said they were really good. I got the butternut squash soup. It needed more flavor and it should have been hot. It was lukewarm. My husband had the blue fish special and really liked it. I had linguine with shrimp in butter and garlic. It was lacking, but I can't put my finger on what was missing. Our free appetizer was what they chose to give us. I don't know what all was on there but it did have pate and some other things. I don't like pate so I passed and my husband said it was okay. The gal that bussed out table took away our bread plates and the knives we used and left the basket on the (small) table for the rest of the time we were there. Our server, Wren, was great! She was super friendly, answered our questions, etc. We expressed our opinions/feelings to her. In a short time, the GM came to our table to apologize and we explained what had happened and why we felt the way we did. Without going into details, she took care of us. If we ever come back to this city, we might go back. The physical place is cool. Some of the food was really good. I don't know why we had to wait so long when we had a reservation. Maybe they aren't managing the time well or it was a fluke - either way, l don't find close to 40 minutes acceptable when we have a reservation. Wren and the GM were great though!

Yelp
Exceptional food and service. Fish, mussels, oysters and pasta all were great. Our part of 6 all had something different and nothing was left on our plates. Whatever the specials are get them. If you are a foodie come here. Really top notch service too. Professional without being snooty. Extensive wine list too.

Yelp
This is one of two restaurants on our Portland food adventure that I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I wish it was possible to do that but this is a MUST! You have to get reservations and you HAVE to go to Street and Co if in the area. Everything was at a top tier level from the food to the service to the vibe of the restaurant. We got the bluefin tuna bolognese, which was braised tuna dish had 0 meat in it but you would never know! I have no idea who the chef got the tuna to be less-fishy, not tough and so soft and perfect for this pasta. It was a special so I also don't know when it would be in the menu again but it needs to be a menu regular. We also got the shrimp scampi pasta, which is on the menu, and again it was delectable every bit was eaten. To end was the pan a cotta dessert that was extremely creamy and so light to eat. This is a must must must stop if in Portland. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Nestled in the heart of Old Port off of an uneven cobblestone road, Street & Co. captures the essence of a rustic seaside restaurant with charming decor and an intimate setting. Their menu is impressive--both classic and creative--and consistently delicious. As a creature of habit, I'm a sucker for their tuna bolognese (a special), smoked steelhead paté, and Kisses and Poppies cocktail (a citrusy/floral tequila-based drink). Their servers are both attentive, friendly, and welcoming. No matter what you order, you're guaranteed a memorable meal and dining experience. Quite the gem!

Yelp
I was fortunate to find a reservation here for our first evening in Portland. The rest of the week was already booked out. We were promptly seared when we arrived and our server was very attentive. We ordered the signature For 2 Lobster Diavolo. It was excellent! I asked for firm noodles and they also got that right. Ty lobster was the star but the mussels and clams were also perfect. I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
You know the place must be good when it's packed with people on a random weekday night. Street & Co. seems to be a must-try restaurant in Portland and I can see why. The minute you walk in, you are greeted with the mouth-watering fragrance from the kitchen and you know you are in for a treat just by the smell. Every dish was delicious but the star of the show was the mussels! First, the mussels were some of the fattest and meatiest mussels I had ever seen. The freshness of the mussels cooked perfectly in garlic, butter, and lemon sauce made it incredibly flavorful that we couldn't get enough. The leftover sauce was so precious that we soaked it up with 3 baskets of freshly baked and doughy bread. The next stop was their signature dish, the Lobster Diavolo with linguine, which was meant to be shared. The lobster was large and fresh along with the clams. The linguine was cooked just right to absorb all those umami flavors. The dish was so flavorful that we felt we entered a food trance. We also ordered their Branzino and Sole Francaise, and both were amazing as well. The fish were fresh and cooked perfectly so the meat just melted in your mouth. The waiter was extremely personable and accommodating. He knew all the dishes and gave us great recommendations for wine pairing not to mention the extra bread to soak up all that delicious sauce. The ambiance is lively and cozy. The prices are reasonable. Overall, it was an exceptional dinner that became a highlight of our Portland trip. I would strongly recommend paying Street & Co a visit when you are in Portland.

Yelp
Fancy restaurant with casual bar side. Great balance to accommodate causal diners. That was our 3rd stop for the night. We went in for a couple of drinks, mussels, and grilled octopus.

Yelp
Excellent food I took mussel a la Provençal, she took scallops. Both were delicious. Great service too and ambiance. Just don't go to the restroom

Yelp
This was my favorite restaurant in Maine! I would recommend making a reservation a week prior to your arrival. The hostess, server and bar tender are all very attentive. We drank some none alcoholic beverages and they were very tasty. The waitress gave us great recommendations! The vibe definitely is nautical and rustic. It was also very crowded. We ordered the oysters with our drinks before we were lead to ur table... once at the table we ordered the mussels, farro salad, and grilled octopus over linguine. All was so delicious. I've never experienced such satisfying seafood!
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
The space and staff were very accommodating. However the food left much to be desired. The clams and linguine was much spicier than they should have been. As a white sauce dish, I was not expecting the level of heat the dish had. The lobster dish though was disappointing. The texture though was very gelatinous. Our waiter offered to heat it longer, however even after heating the lobster still had a mealy texture. General online consensus is this happens if the lobster was not alive when cooking. Staff offered alternatives but was out of lobster so was disappointed being this was Maine.

Yelp
Cozy little spot in Old Port, that serves fresh seafood and pasta!! Great spot for a date night! I ordered the mussels (with white wine, garlic, and butter), and the grilled lobster over linguine (with butter). Portion sizes were large, and food came out pretty quick. The mussels were large and tender, and the white wine sauce was seasoned perfectly. The only thing that was missing was toast or bread with the dish (save your dinner bread at the beginning of the meal). The pasta was cooked al dente, and the lobster was buttery and sweet. Both dishes were very fresh, I enjoyed them and would order them again! Restaurant is on the smaller size, so your table will be very close to one next to it. Make sure to make a reservation! Not much "waiting room" either and the bar counter fills up quick, so if your table isn't ready on time, becomes a bit awkward and crowded to stand inside.

Yelp
My boyfriend wanted to try this place. Apparently they have 3 restaurants in the area - 4th street, street & co, and scales. All the same owner. Ambiance was nice on a Thursday night. Quiet. We arrived late. We were about an hour and a half from closing time. Everyone was so nice. We sat at the bar. We started with the fresh, local oysters. The best is the John's River. Then Weskeag and third the empress. While they were shucked perfectly and fresh and delicious, I can't say we would spend about $5/oyster again. Other places have oyster specials for $1-$2/oyster. We ordered the prosciutto. It's $10. Meat is fresh and appetizing amount. Freshest we had was in Rome, Italy. We ordered the bluefin tuna bolognese appetizer. It disappointed me. Nothing tuna about it. It's mostly pasta. Flavorful. But I would be able to tell you if it were tuna or beef. And $20 for that is just too much. Not worth it. The monkfish was cooked as it should be. Flavor was nice. However, I made it better! It's best in butter and garlic, like a lobster. It's called the "poor man's lobster" for a reason lol. The cannellini beans were good. 3 Clams fine. Would I order again? No. It was $37. The branzino had perfect flavor. Seasoned perfectly. My boyfriend said it was delicious. Guanciale & kale chips minimal in the risotto. Not worth $40. He said should be $20. I agree. The beers are also pricey. Just why? Simon was great. There's a new girl working there and she is great too. She is being trained on oysters and she did an amazing job! Staff is great. Service is great. Food is ok, but seriously overpriced. We spent over $200 here. Crazy. Will we come here again? No.

Yelp
Amazing experience. We called to make reservations the day of and they were fully booked but told us we could try as a walk-in so we did. We were very lucky they had three seats available at the bar when we showed up at 7:30pm. The bartender was very friendly and really made sure we had everything we needed. We started with a special for our appetizer, a cod fish mashed potato spread and it was DELICIOUS! My daughter has the seared tuna and she loved it. My husband had the linguini and clams and it was very flavorful. The portions were also pretty generous. My swordfish was also cooked to perfection. We would definitely return. The bar is in a big open lounge area so it was a nice setup. And everyone was very friendly.

Yelp
Excellent spot for dinner! We were visiting Portland and wanted to find a local place with a great chef, and this is it! They have a range of seafood on the menu, and we went for the mussels and crab appetizers to share, along with an heirloom tomato salad on special. Everything was outstanding and the staff had a wonderful vibe going - you can tell they love working together!

Yelp
Street & Co in Portland, ME, is an absolute gem. Housed in a beautiful old building, the restaurant exudes charm and character. The staff is friendly and attentive, with our waiter going above and beyond to ensure a great dining experience. The food and drinks at Street & Co are simply amazing. We started with local Maine oysters that were incredibly fresh and delicious. Next, we indulged in mussels in a heavenly white sauce. The combination of dipping bread into the sauce and savoring it with the juicy mussels was a flavor experience like no other. The highlight of the meal was the Lobster Diavolo for two, a delightful dish featuring spaghetti mixed with clams, calamari, mussels, and a halved lobster, all tossed in a delectable white sauce. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors that left us craving more. To accompany our meal, we enjoyed a Manhattan and a Spice Mèlange, both of which were expertly crafted and packed a punch in terms of taste. Overall, Street & Co is a must-visit restaurant in Portland. The charming ambiance, attentive staff, and exceptional food and drinks make for a truly memorable dining experience. Whether you're a local or a visitor, don't miss the opportunity to dine at Street & Co. It's a culinary journey that you won't soon forget.

Yelp
A must-go restaurant! A great place for a date as well. For starters, make sure you get a reservation ahead of time! I made mine a month ahead, but from the availabilities I saw online, I think 2 weeks ahead is good enough to secure the time you want. It's a really quaint and cozy looking restaurant. As you walk into the restaurant, you can smell the fragrant smell of food coming from their open kitchen. I got the mussels with white wine sauce to start. Phenomenon. Make sure to eat this with the free bread you get in the beginning! Chef's kiss. Has a good amount of garlic with a piece of lemon to help balance the flavors with a little bit of acidity. I was originally going to get oysters for starters, but from the waiter's recommendation and our preferences of not wanting a strong salty/ocean flavor, he said to go for something else instead (very honest!). For entree, I got the grilled lobster with linguine and my boyfriend got the clam linguine - both were delicious! My entree was huge - it had 2 big lobsters that were sweet and tasty! Lots of garlic (which I love) and the linguine is cooked perfectly al dente! Very great value! My only tidbit for myself is to choose a different appetizer/entree next time because all the dishes I chose were closely similar in flavors. Otherwise, enjoyed my meal with great service, great food, and great ambience!

Yelp
Loved it. We had an excellent grilled octopus appetizer. Both my wife and I had blackened fish -- the tuna for me, char for her. Both were done rare and were magnificent. I was not sure about getting dessert but I'm a sucker for rice pudding. My wife was skeptical, but we both loved it. It had a caramel sauce and toffee on top that transformed it from a classic favorite to something sublime. The service was also terrific. Very helpful, straightforward answers to our questions, useful recommendations. I think the place itself is attractive too. If you get a table in the room next to the kitchen, it can get warm and noisy but I still find it delightful to watch.
google avatar

Chris O.

Yelp
Service and food were both surprisingly lackluster. Staff seemed distracted and ill at ease. Food was disappointing and not particularly innovative. Place feels like it's coasting on reputation alone.

Dave R.

Yelp
All of it was great. Mussels in garlic for appetizer and shrimp pasta for entree. Food amazing. Service from Jenny (sp) was spot on. She was lovely & engaging, even suggested a breakfast spot the next day.

Yelp
If you like garlic, you will LOVE Street & Co.! My husband came here after a long day that started with a hike in Acadia and a rainy, roadtrip back to Portland; we were glad for a delicious meal to end the evening. We started with the mussels and they were fantastic! Then, both my husband and I got the pasta - I got shrimp and he opted for the lobster. The server even told him how to expect the lobster and asked if he was prepared to work. All three dishes had a heaping serving of garlic - and they kept serving delicious bread to help sop it all up. Overall, a fantastic meal!

Allen B.

Yelp
First, we had to accept outside seating or wait 1/2 hrs. Next I had to negotiate a different dressing for my salad. Also linguine for my pasta. Kaylie was brilliant in negotiating with the chef! My Wife's lobster with linguine was a bit overboard with garlic. My bolognese was under seasoned and needed more acid. However, I enjoyed it being tuna. The bread which comes from their sister store Standard Bakery is amazing. The apple crostata was incredible . Over all the main dishes were ok, service fantastic desert wow. Still highly recommended.

Anne Z.

Yelp
The BEST mussels we've ever had! Fresh local oysters were also delicious. Jones crab puff pastry was delightful- accented with several mushroom varieties. The low point was the shrimp pasta- but only because the other dishes were to die for! Excellent service- our server helped a struggling couple next to us crack open their lobster, checked on us often, and kept the dishes coming at a perfect pace.

Kelly M.

Yelp
Host was awesome, service less so. Pro: Cocktails were surprisingly solid for being pre-batched, making them an awesome deal. Con: Our server was definitely not trained on how to handle allergies, and the only gluten substitution they have is a raised eyebrow apparently. Wound up leaving because I wasn't ready to roll the dice.

Yelp
We had heard that this was one of the best restaurants in Portland, and well...we agree. Great service. Great food. We ordered the Lobster Diavolo over Linguine for two. It also included mussels and clams. As you can see in the before and after shots I've included with this review, we thought it was superb.

Derek R.

Yelp
Snuck in early, just before 5 pm, and got a table. Lucky us! The place filled up, and for good reason. Great reason, actually. We had lobster and scallops and it was fresh-caught/locally sourced & divine. Wonderful service, too--very friendly, unobtrusive waiter. Upscale environment, cool (farmhouse-eclectic?) vibe. Would be excellent date-night choice - not too loud, not too quiet, fabulous fare. We're only here for a week, but may go back for 2nds before we skeedaddle back to ho-hum Texas. Bravo!
google avatar

Yelp
Charming atmosphere. Good table service. However, the wait for our food was unacceptable. We had a reservation at 5:45 pm and were one of the three tables there, but we waited over an hour for our entrees. Anyway, my linguine with clams had a light sauce and was flavorful. They didn't skimp on the clams. The Sole Francaise was too salty and buttery. Since we waited for a while for our food, we each ended up getting two cocktails, which were solid. Our server was apologetic about us waiting for our food, so dessert was on her, so we appreciate that.

Yelp
I highly recommend getting reservations on OpenTable. This place gets pretty busy, and seating is cozy. The decorations reminded me of Gaston's tavern in the beauty and the beast. It sits along a row of restaurants and bars so after dinner you can dance and drink the night away. The surrounding bars have different clientele from the young party atmosphere to the cool and quiet whiskey bar. If you are not a fan of seafood, find another restaurant. I don't think there was one meat dish on the menu and mostly italian inspired. They had two oyster selections, they were fine. Neither oyster stood out. The steelhead pate appetizer was amazing! We could've had another order but we held back. The mussels were delicious and it felt like we got a 2 lb bag of them. Wifey and I shared the lobster fra diavlo. I think it was the perfect amount for three people, it was filled with seafood, you could barely find the linguine! One thing that would have made this good/great to must is making a homemade pasta instead of dried pasta. It would just elevate the dish and be a home run. Others got the shrimp in white wine sauce and the scallops. Both said they were very good, and looked quite good. Our server was great. There were a couple of things out of his control, the reservation was for 745 but we weren't seated until 820 and the entrees took forever. Our server gave us a complimentary harissa appetizer which held us over, which we appreciated which moved the needle from good to excellent.

Alex D.

Yelp
Best meal in Portland! My friend and I enjoyed a food tour throughout the city last week and this was hands down our favorite place. To start, the ambiance is amazing. Very welcoming and warm, it's the type of place where you spend hours at the table savoring your meal and enjoying company. The food was mouth watering, highly recommend the Sole Francaise. In the bar area you can enjoy cocktails and wine while watching the staff shuck oysters. Overall, I could eat here over and over and not get tired of it! Make reservations in advance - not easy to get in.

Dena ..

Yelp
One of the best meals I've had in a long time! The food is served simply and expertly, allowing the fresh ingredients shine, based on other reviews we ordered the mussels appetizer which was incredible- sourdough bread to soak up the broth, you don't want to miss it! Blue tuna blackened and seared rare was perfect, and the sole franchisee is incredible- melt in your mouth! Service was outstanding, our server recommended an excellent wine pairing and ambiance was wonderful too. We were able to sit outside on a perfect September evening, the inside dining looks nice as well! It's been a struggle finding a nice dining experience the last few years and this lived up to all expectations! Highly recommend!

Yelp
This is a neat restaurant in the downtown area of Portland. Due to the busy hour when we visited on a weekend, it would be a long wait to get inside seating. We decided to skip the long wait and go for an outdoor table. As luck would have it, it was a very good decision. The seating area was located at the back of the building, asking the back alley where there were pedestrian traffic and street performers. A nice band was playing 10 feet away from our table. Although the temperature was hovering around high 60's, it was not chilly to dine outside. Tables were close. We met a young couple visiting from Canada and struck up a good conversation. The meal, yes, was Delicious. The mussels were the best we have ever had because they were plump and juicy, not shriveled up. This speaks to the quality of sourcing and cooking. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Another five star review from me!! This is top 3 favorite restaurants in Portland, and there is ALOT of restaurants here. I typically go in the winter because of the cozy vibe but it's great in the summer as well as they have outdoor seating. The inside bar is our favorite. The service is amazing and they are also quick. The wine and cocktails are wonderful. I have tried so many dishes here and have never had a bad one. Some of my favorites are the mussels and tuna dish(which they change out ingredients sometimes). They have fresh oysters, small plates, bread, and anything you every want for pasta and seafood. I have nothing bad to say about this place and will keep coming back time and time again! If you haven't been put it on your list!

Yelp
This place is absolutely phenomenal! We felt incredibly fortunate to secure an outdoor seat without any wait. Our dining adventure began with the mussels as an appetizer, and I must say, they were the best mussels I've ever tasted - big, juicy, and incredibly fresh. For our main course, we opted for the "For 2 Lobster Diavolo ' which turned out to be a generous portion of pure deliciousness. The lobster dish was a highlight, with its rich flavors and ample servings. The outdoor seating by the cobblestone road was an absolute delight. We were fully immersed in the city's vibrant energy, complemented by the live music that set the perfect tone for an unforgettable evening. Our waiter was the epitome of professionalism, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The service was top-notch from start to finish. In short, this place is a culinary gem with a captivating ambiance. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience in downtown Portland, Maine. It's a perfect blend of delectable cuisine, lively atmosphere, and top-notch service that leaves a lasting impression.

Yelp
Def 4.5 close to 5 stars. Booked our reservation 2 weeks ahead before coming to Maine. First I was so amazed by their great service. The waitress even offered us free desserts because of the long wait for our main entries. It was during busy dinner time which I totally understood and we were not in a rush or anything. Not a big deal at all. We ordered lobster linguine and scallops, and mussels for appetizer. Everything was good but the portion was slightly small. The linguine was a lit salty but tasted good. Also the best was the dessert! This special strawberry with vanilla ice cream thing was so delicious! Perfection!

Yelp
Delicious food!!! I ordered grilled lobster with linguine with red sauce (originally it came with garlic butter, but I just love red sauce so much!). I am glad I switched because it was the best red sauce I have ever had so far - fresh, rich, spicy and full of flavors! It was exactly what I needed after a long travel day.

Yelp
This spot was pretty popular in oldport. The inside was small so tables were close to each other and it was loud (because you could hear the conversation of your neighbors). The kitchen was open so you could see the chefs cooking. We got the oysters (specials) and they were cheap and fresh. We also got mussels which was solid and the sauce was so yummy. The diavolo was gigantic and packed with seafood. You could choose the sauce for the pasta. We got the white sauce and the pasta was a tad salty for me. We could not even finish all the pastas in the diavolo but it was a must! The mussel and diavolo were served in the hot pan so they were kept warm during the meal. Overall this was the best meal I had in Portland and would highly recommend!

Yelp
Value: 1/5 Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 I have to say I'm very disappointed. We went with all of the waiter's recommendations, and only the octopus was satisfactory. Bread: The complimentary bread was pretty good, but certainly not amazing. Octopus: This was my favorite dish. The octopus was so, so tender. The flavors in the sauce and the vegetables were perfectly balanced. I really liked the harissa as well. The tomatoes were like popping boba - exploding with juices and flavor. Awesome dish! Bluefin Tuna: For $40, this was an extreme ripoff. There were maybe four bites of bluefin tuna. It was good, but not good enough to justify the price tag. The vegetables were okay. Scallops: The scallops were tender and flavorful, but they were also very overpriced. There were only 6 scallops. The cream sauce was nice, but there wasn't anything super special about this dish. There were two whole potatoes haphazardly thrown in with some green beans, served in a cast iron pan. $38 for this is really a joke. The prices here are comparable to 1-Michelin star restaurants in Chicago. The prices here are like fine dining, with none of the creativity or flavor. With the exception of the octopus, the other dishes felt like some heavily skimped out proteins accompanied by cheap vegetables. Is this what "shrinkflation" looks like? We spent over $100 and would have been left feeling very hungry if it weren't for the two baskets of bread.

Yelp
Charming restaurant! The lobster was top quality and there was a huge portion for my sister and I to enjoy and share. And of course after seafood, the lemon and towels was a great touch.

Yelp
Well rated and over rated. While excited to come here for our first dining experience in Portland and our vacation in Maine, I couldn't help but leave thinking this city is starved of good dining. We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation of 730 pm. The hostess told us to take a seat in the lounge and that we would be seated at 730. She seemed a bit annoyed at baseline. While surprised by the delay in seating we obliged. A waitress came and offered us a cocktail order, again, appearing annoyed that we didn't make any decision in the three minutes of our presence. We order a drink and upon arrival are rushed to close out the check because now it is 730 pm and we can be sat. The dining area we sat in was across from the kitchen, which was lively and open for patrons to watch. Certainly dense and with minimal ability to comfortably walk. It is clear that Street & co is trying to maximize their limited space. Upon seating at our table, a generic hasilty written happy wedding anniversary greeted us. Surprisingly our waitress didn't wish us a happy anniversary. I will say otherwise she did an outstanding job: she had great timing, table side manner, and solid knowledge of the menu. Certainly this waitress is a positive. We ordered espresso to wake up, grilled octopus, lobster diavolo, and several desserts. The octopus admittedly was perfectly tender, mixed with appropriate acid, and with a sweetness from red onion and red pepper. The lobster diavolo, a restaurant specialty, is a rather dramatic presentation, creating high expectations with a split 1.5 lb lobster, clams, mussels, calamari served over a large quantity of linguini with a spicy tomato sauce. This dish alone could serve a party of four. While quite dramatic in presentation, and while every piece of seafood was fresh and masterfully cooked, this dish falls flat on it's face for a lack of cohesion. Finally we move on to dessert. We ordered a scoop of ice-cream to have at the restaurant and a couple to go. The vanilla ice cream was smooth and rich but lacked balance and depth. It tasted like there was almost soap accidentally mixed into the ice-cream. Similar to the vanilla ice cream the one, all of our desserts were lack luster. I hastily asked for the check so as to be done with this experience. Surprisingly, though, not expected, not a single dessert comped for the wedding anniversary. Simply put the service and food at points were subpar and could be improved upon. The money spent doesn't match the quality of food. Needs improvement

Yelp
4.5 stars on Yelp on a 1000+ reviews is rarified air...but Street & Co lived up to the hype! Location was cool, throwback building done very nice. Service was excellent...and the food - 5 stars all the way. We enjoyed a bottle of Chardonnay - excellent and not too expensive. The appetizer, grilled octopus was spectacular. My wife had the halibut special, which was amazing, but couldn't compare to the whole durad I was served. All food cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. Wish we had room for dessert, but I cannot thank this place enough - great evening.

Yelp
One of the best local seafood restaurant in Portland that serves fresh local catches and ingredients. The prices have gone up over the years but you are guaranteed a great seafood meal. This is not a steak place, be sure to book a reservation ahead of time, it is worth it.

Yelp
3rd time here the past few years and always loved the lobster fra diavolo. I had a reservation 2 weeks in advance for party of 2. Restaurant was loud and busy but attentive. Now, the main dish was absolutely 5 stars for taste... perhaps not value, did it warrant to be $95? I don't think so. I think it's way overpriced for 1 lobster, a few clams, mussels, squid and linguini. However, it's Portland... nothing is cheap and it's a tourist trap. The apps we got were absolutely outrageous! HUGE waste of money and disappointment. The spinach salad, a tiny plate with a few leaves for $15, I actually didn't see any spinach leaves, mostly lettuce, was an absolute rip off and a joke! The octopus app was mediocre, it was just ok, nothing special and will never order it again, and for $18 it was another blow of money. Drinks were small, decent although pricey. Now, if you have plenty of dollars to burn, the entrees and drinks are great but skip the appetizers. The most enjoyable part of our meal and most reasonably priced was the dessert... panacotta, creamy and luscious. Enjoyed the main dinner and dessert, but will I be back again? Most likely not. 5 stars for the main dish, dessert and service... 1 star for the apps and value hence the 3 star review.

Yelp
An incredible meal! Highly recommend making a reservation as this place gets packed, and for good reason. We got there a little before the reservation and we told they were running right on schedule so to come back a few minutes later. Our server was very helpful. We asked what he recommended, and took his advice. We ordered the pear and goat cheese salad, which was very good. And went very nicely with the fresh bread and butter at the table. Then we ordered the pasta with shrimp, garlic and butter, and the bluefin tuna, our server's recommendation. They were both amazing. The pasta is definitely a good dish to split because it is gigantic. The bluefin tuna is a little smaller, so it was nice to have that with a larger dish. The tuna is cooked perfectly and the veggies and sauce taste so good together. The restaurant is very warm and cozy. The tables are a little close together, and it's a little loud, but the food and service make up for it.

Yelp
Wow. Wow. Wow. I love seafood, and these were the best mussels I've ever eaten! Oysters aren't my thing, bet here they might be! And the cocktails were incredibly well balanced and delicious! Plus the service was amazing - our server helped the couple next to us unshell an entire lobster, and shared tips about how to do it well with them. The rest of the meal was also good, though I learned that shrimp aren't particularly well suited to a marinara-like sauce, but it was worth a try. A must visit if you're in Portland!
