Street Injera - Review - North Nashville - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Housed in a communal kitchen on the edge of North Nashville and Midtown, Street Injera is a bit hard to find. Order online ahead of time or at the kiosk in the kitchen’s all-white receiving hall, and in twenty minutes an elegant Ethiopian meal will be delivered via cubby hole. When it’s ready, the door springs open to let you know." - Bailey Freeman

Great cuisine. Fresh and delicious and we appreciated the owner’s ad hoc accommodation! Highly recommend this eatery for a homey & flavor rich East African meal. This food hits the spot. And the owner is an extremely kind, personable and loves her craft. PS. This is a take out only business at the moment.

AMAZING FOOD! The woman who owns and manages this place goes above and beyond. She's relatively new and trying to build her business up in this kitchen. When you buy the food she takes your order, cooks it, and brings it out to you. She does it all! When she brought out the food she was extremely personable and referred to her food as "her baby". Any establishment with that level of authenticity and passion proves the food will be exceptional. HELP SUPPORT this woman and her small business. You wont regret it!

The food here is absolutely delicious! The owner is so kind and generous with the portions. I highly recommend the Combo #6 platter, it lets you sample a little bit of everything. Also get the samosas! Every dish was packed with flavor and perfectly seasoned.

Note: this is a grab-and-go place! We didn’t realize until we were there. But the lovely owner was so welcoming — she went out of her way to seat us anyway and ensure we had a wonderful experience, serving us a delicious meal and checking on us to make sure everything was great. She is so hardworking and kind. Please support this up and coming homestyle eatery!

My family and I were lucky enough to find this place on a quick trip to Nashville. The food was amazing! We had the spicy stir fry beef, tilapia, and lentils, and everything was delicious! I’ve eaten at quite a few Ethiopian restaurants is this is right up there with the best of them. We also got a chance to chat with the owner. Not only Is she a great cook, she’s also super friendly and passionate about what she does. We’ll DEFINITELY be back!

My husband and I stopped by the food hub there were 6 restaurant options and we chose this place. We are primarily vegan in our choices and we love Ethiopian food so this was an easy choice. Let me say we are just passing through coming from Ohio so we had no idea what the food would taste like. We each ordered the 2 item sampler and chose yellow lentil stew, collard greens and mixed vegetables with injera bread and green salad for sides. We also ordered the green lentil sambusas. THIS FOOD IS SO GOOD!!! And it is served in such generous amounts we couldn’t finish our order. I sincerely hope the restaurant is open the day we are traveling home so we can try more items. There is outdoor seating but the area is too near cars and is not very picturesque. We found an area nearby and parked to enjoy the food.

I grew up in Nashville and have eaten all around this city, and I can easily say this is now one of my favorite restaurants. The food is fresh and perfectly spiced and the chef truly cares. I rarely eat at a restaurant that inspires me to write a review. Well, it happened! This is not a stand alone restaurant but rather part of a building with multiple kitchens that focus on take out, so I recommend ordering direct from the website for pick up/delivery or calling ahead to schedule a sit down at the lovey outside tables. I appreciate that the chef is building a client base in this way before taking the jump to a full brick and mortar. Makes good sense, and I am happy to support! Seriously y’all, eat here. It’s the best! I’ll be coming as often as I can.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ _"An unforgettable culinary experience! On Sunday evening, I attended a pop-up dinner from Delicious Afrika at Fido in Nashville, and from the moment my plate arrived, the aroma alone was mesmerizing—like a feast of rich, inviting spices. I sampled a variety of dishes, starting with the two-meat platter, and it was hands down some of the best Ethiopian cuisine I’ve ever had. If you’re considering a visit, don’t hesitate—just go! The chefs deliver extraordinary flavors, and I can’t wait for my next meal and the continued five-star treatment at Delicious Afrika."_

Yelp
I really enjoyed the food! The lentils had the perfect amount of spice, and they had plenty of other veggie options. I also liked my potatoe side dish. They had various combinations you could choose from (like 2 sides, 3 sides etc) and you could mix and match between meat and veggie options. They gave plenty of injera, so we never had to eat the dishes plain. The only downside was that they forgot the side dish (beet salad) for my friends dish, and they gave him 1 of the wrong sides (lentils instead of veggies) We ordered from Midtown foods, so it was take out only, so we couldn't contact anyone to rectify the mistake.

Yelp
I ordered takeout on DoorDash and the food was still hot and the quality was great. Everything was seasoned perfectly and super flavorful, if you're sensitive to spice, regular might be a bit hot for you but for someone who enjoys spice the "regular" level might seem mild/not spicy.

Yelp
So glad I found this new option on Yelp! I ordered a vegan platter with cabbage and both lentil options. Everything came out hot and flavorful! The owner also talked me through how to traditionally enjoy the meal. I really appreciated that special touch and this was a wonderful introduction into Ethiopian cuisine.

Yelp
We were superhungry by the time we got to the right place for pickup and we were out of charge on our only iphone left with any charge. However the chef recognizing our situation went out of her way to take us in, make us feel comfortable and helped us charge our phone while our family ate. My husband loves Ethiopian food as it reminds us of our Indian food in many ways. We ordered two veggie combo platter #2s for us with lentil curry, collard greens and cabbage and potato curry with side green salad and 3 sambusas appetizer for our son. Everything was super yummy and we left with our tummies and hearts full. She also shared some of her personal story with us making us realize that at the end of the day, we all ought to be grateful for all the great food and kind human beings we get to experience in this world despite whatever little difficulties we run into everyday.

Yelp
Our crew known as Nashville Ethnic Dining Society (N.E.D.S.) made Injera's Pop-Up at Fido Coffeeshop our 50th restaurant featuring different native dishes in Music City. We enjoyed all our choices whether vegetarian or the beef/chicken options. Perfectly spiced. Chef/owner Naimi and her staff were so joyous and welcoming. We all give it the highest grades, and will all definitely be back.

Yelp
Ethiopian food is my favorite because of the combination of it being healthy, savory, and for me, a comfort food. My hubby and I ordered vegan platters and when we got back to our Airbnb to eat it, he started eating first and phrases like "stupid good" and "mouth bang" came out of his mouth. Needless to say he was going HAM on the food bc it was so good. I couldn't agree more. It was 'slap yo Mama' good. They give plenty of food and injera to have a second meal which is also great. Also, the chef came out bc we had questions before ordering, and she was very patient, understanding, and kind. If you haven't tried Ethiopian food, you are missing out big time! Def. try Street Injera as you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
I don't usually review but I had to for this place. The spicy beef was my favorite dish. The cook was very kind and made sure we had the best service. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Yelp
delicious, great service, and large portions! Will be ordering again, highly recommend trying! My favorite was the chickpea stew!:)

Yelp
The food is amazing. And the young woman that runs the place is so very nice and engaging. Love it, love it, love it.

Yelp
Had the spicy chicken and both lentil stew with the injera. This place uses 100% teff and while I'm sure the rice and quinoa are good, you're doing yourself a disservice by getting anything other than the injera as the side. Perfect, thin but fluffy injera brings everything together. The spicy chicken was awesome and both the lentil stews were prepared deliciously.

Yelp
Really good Ethiopian food! I am from Chicago and was missing the food variety, so I am really happy I found this spot. Food is spiced beautifully with warm, bold flavors. Spice not too much but makes you want to go back for more. Recommend beef sambusa and combo platter to get a little bit of everything.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful place! I've eaten here four times this month and am obsessed with the injera. I introduced my parents to Ethiopian with food from this restaurant, and they loved it! It's easy delivery and pickup with excellent food, and the owner is so nice!

Eddie B.

Yelp
The food was amazing. We tried the chicken stir fry and veggie Sambusa. The owner came out and greeted us. We decided to eat outside on the tables a d she gave us plates. Can't wait to go back and try another dish or the combo. I look forward to seeing her get a sit down restaurant in the future.

Yelp
We all want to support restaurants blossoming out of commissary kitchens, but in a town with a number of authentic Ethiopian along Murfreesboro Road, this mainly has its location going for it, but with higher prices than the others yet lower quality. The others also allow dine-in experiences with proud owners, rather than order-by-app or touchscreen. The vegetable sambosas were good but missing the sauce shown in the picture (maybe missed hitting the option). The Yellow Lentil stew was ok but the picture shows more distinct grains, suggesting it might have been sitting awhile. The goat stew ($22) was not very trim, even for goat with more bones than we often get and "spicy" was medium. It did not have that complex bebere flavor. In addition, it was undercooked, leaving it chewier and more gristly than it should have been. The beet salad was good but the the onions were also red for the juice, a sign that it was not made the same day. The injera was refrigerated in its bag, also a sign that it was not made fresh--other places may buy theirs, but at least they are not served cold. For a location near Downtown and the Church-Charlotte Hospitals, it is convenient now that others Ethiopians in the area have shuttered. So maybe Street Injera may serve a purpose. But at over $50 (self pickup), this was high for two given the quality for take away when other East African Restaurants serve generous, tasty combos that are fresher and more flavorful.

Yelp
I had the lamb tibs, the beef tibs, chicken tibs, shiro, hamli, ga'at, dinish salad and spicy ades. The food was AMAZING and the customer service was top notch. The owner was so nice and helpful. She walked me through getting to the location and ordering. The food was very authentic Eritrean/Ethiopian cuisine.

Yelp
I have tried Gojo, Awash, and here. All great but i think this one is my favorite. I got the beef stew and beef fajita with the potatoes carrots and cabbage and yellow lentils and beet salad. The beef stew was my favorite Ethiopian dish I've had in nashville

Matt S.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the owner was so friendly to me and my family! I will definitely be returning to try more of the sides.

A. R.

Yelp
Quick, kind service, and delicious food! I can tell that owner really cares. Can't wait to try all the other vegan options here!

Yelp
We are so lucky to have a restaurant like this in Nashville! I tried a little bit of everything. Nothing disappointed! Highly recommend to anyone who loves East African Food or who is willing to try something new!
