My boyfriend and I always go here to get our cars fixed! If you're looking to support a quality, local, family-owned mechanic shop, look no further! Bobbi (the owner) and Martin (the mechanic) are AMAZING!! They're super friendly, quickly get us in and out and always take good care of us! The prices here are very affordable and they never steer us in the wrong direction! Martin has always been honest when it comes to whether a repair should be done ASAP or if it could be put off for a few months. I've been coming here for quite a few years now and am very happy with the quick, affordable & quality service that they always provide!

At Streit's the job is always done right the first time, prices are significantly lower than competitors, they never try to sell you repairs that you don't need, they offer alternatives and explain most cost-effective approach to dealing with any problems, they are very considerate, prompt and helpful. I have been bringing all of our cars there for more than five years. Although Streit's keeps Monday-Friday 800am-500pm business hours, that little inconvenience is a very small trade-off for the benefit of getting prompt, reliable repairs, and saving lots of money.

My Dad grew up in the Elgin area and had been going to Streits ever since I could remember. I'm 32 now and have been taking my cars to Streit's for 16 years myself. I have to say that they still surprise me with their quality service and friendliness. Again, I should've left this review years ago but what reallybpushed me to do it now was my most recent experience. I took my car in due to having the rear brakes that I had replaced a year ago making some grinding noises. Streit's called me and told me they were going to warranty out the brakes for free but that I may need a new brake caliper for $250 including labor. I gave them the ok and showed up at 4:30 to get my car. To my amazement they only charged me $90 because they were able to fix my caliper without replacement. I couldn't believe it. I gave a business the ok to charge me $250 and they chose to go the route of honesty and customer service. I was told they got it repaired and working with need for replacement. This is not the first time this has happened at Streit's. In this day and age it's hard to find a mechanic to trust. But Streit's has that mom and pop feel with some of the best quality service around. I would recommend them to family, friends, and anyone from the fox valley area.

We moved into the Elgin area five years ago. Since that time we have been looking for a good honest repair shop. That will not stick it up your anal cavity. Well we found one. They are friendly and most accommodating to your needs and service required. They "DO NOT" charge you for work unless they do it. There Honest... they honestly care about there customers and go out of there way for them.

A friend recommended these guys to us in 2000. We have several work trucks in addition to our personal cars. We had been through three mechanics prior, and we were treated dishonestly each time. We have been coming religiously ever since. The owner is an honest guy who doesn't try to fix things that don't need fixing. He is a stand up guy. I actually have argued with him (more than once) on how HE NEEDS TO CHARGE ME SOMETHING. Yes, you read that right. I have brought out truck in there for something, had his guy stop what he was doing, take an hour plus to fix whatever, then tell me there is no bill. Who does that? There is a reason he has a loyal base of customers.

First of all let me start off by saying they will never quote an unrealistic price to you when you're here so no need to worry about that. Secondly the customer service is always down to earth and the moment they figure out what's going on that day you bring your car in they'll let you know right there on the spot(if there's only 1 issue going on with it) Last but certainly not least Streit's rhymes with "Great" and that's exactly the kind of service I get from them everytme I go there. *Highly Recommended*

Good shop, good people. Pretty quick. Prices ok. I'll return. One year update, 2020: Still bring our company fleet and many of us bring them our personal vehicles too. Quick friendly service still.

Street's does great work and charges fair prices. Recently, my brakes went out, and I brought my car to them. There were several other problems with the car including frame damage. Street's fixed everything for a good price. The staff is friendly and efficient.

Great service. Bobbi and her staff are amazing. I had car problems and took it to them at 11:00 am on a Thursday without calling ahead and they fixed it by 1:00 PM that day! Go there!

Such great customer service here and always has affordable prices!! They do quality work and tell the truth about what you need fixed (unlike other mechanics do)! I was getting some routine work done and asked Martin (the mechanic here) if he could check out my brakes and let me know if I needed new ones. When I picked up my car he was truthful with me and said I can wait 2-3 more months before replacing them. Not many mechanics out there would pass up a potential easy upsale like that! Needless to say, I never go anywhere else for car repairs! Love this place!

I cannot say enough good things about this shop! As a VW owner, I've had my share of overpriced repairs and misinformation. I have been to so many repair shops for various issues, it's almost mind boggling. This winter, the heat went out in my car. I looked/asked around for reputable shops that dealt with VW (I was previously told not everyone can work on VW :/ ). Streits was recommended multiple times so I looked at the reviews and did my research. BELIEVE THESE REVIEWS!! This shop is GREAT!! They were able to resolve my issue within minutes AND affordably. I will never take my car anywhere else ever again!! Thank you Gus and DJ!!

I just love this place. The owner is a personable, straight-talk, down to earth kinda guy. The prices are extremely fair, and they always have time for us. Work is done quickly and it's done well. They never pressure you to get any unnecessary work done. We went here on a recommendation from a neighbor/friend, and now we recommend Streit's to others. Best place to take your car.

These guys are great! I wouldn't trust anyone else with my truck. Prices have always been more than reasonable. And Dan is straight forward and honest, not many shops are like that.

Friendly, reasonably priced, solid quality work, and they were very understanding when I ran late picking my car up. I will definitely be a return customer.

Well, my 98 Honda Civic isn't exactly the newest car on the block, but I figured that taking it in for tune-up would mean getting it inspected so that it wouldn't die on me in the next few days. It was two weeks, which I guess I should be grateful for. My car has trouble starting now; I turn the key and hear a click from the engine but the starter doesn't turn. Wire-fiddling turned into wire cleaning, which I hope has solved the problem, but I'm going to be going back to a mechanic this weekend to see if they can do something less iffy. I give these guys three stars because even though they took a long time to do my tune-up and missed what seems to have been a problem that should have been caught, their prices are fair and they do indeed make sure to just charge you for what you need--or, at least, what they catch.
