Olympia Provisions Will Hawk Sandwiches from a New Food Cart | Eater Portland

"Opened this March, Strength Union is Aaron Adams’s new powerlifting gym and the reason he’s stepping away from chef duties at Farm Spirit; Eater Portland expressed interest in hearing from current members about the chef’s 'sweet gains.'" - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Excellent facility! Was in Portland on vacation but needed somewhere to train while there. Jordan was very responsive and accommodating. I train at 5 am and that was not a problem at all (even Saturday and Sunday). They had everything I needed and more. I observed some of their members' number on the wall and I can tell there are a lot of folks getting strong there from all levels of strength. I did not personally train with any of the coaches but if the interactions I had are any indication, this is a very welcoming place. Whether you live in or around Portland, or are just in town for a bit, stay out of the box gyms and check out Strength Union!

Took a one off personal training session while on vacation. Received excellent service from Zach M and great tips for proper form for my lifts as a beginner. Could really feel the muscles I wanted to feel better

A solid place for lifting heavy and making friends. This gym had all the pieces I needed to get stronger – chains, bands, and bars. The only reason I changed gyms is because I moved. I enjoyed my stay at Strength Union, thanks y'all!

SU is a great gym in a convenient location. Several squat racks and types of bars, overall nice selection of powerlifting and strength-training equipment. Good energy from the other members, and Coach Nick is a great guy who is genuinely invested in the success of others.

2nd time being here, and 2nd time wishing I lived close enough to come here more often. Inclusive, helpful, patient atmosphere where a new lifter can be new with confidence. Here's a picture of my 109lb 16-year-old hitting a new PR with the raging support of literally every single person there.

Took the Intro to Strength class with Jordan and it was awesome. Lots of great info delivered in an efficient way, not pushy or intimidating at all. Really appreciate this kind of class being offered to get started on a strength building journey!

Google
Great gym, great atmosphere, really kind people. It's very accessible and has all the lifting equipment and apparatus you need. I really appreciate how easy it is to just go in do and do a solo workout but what there are also lots of opportunities to tap into community here.

I’ve lived all over pdx— and I’ve worked out in NE, SW, NW, etc and Strength Union is without question the best gym in the city. I hit a new deadlift PR of 2.05xBody Weight while training here during Q1 of 2025

Yelp
For anyone who is confused about how to get here - turn on Pershing and go straight to the dead end and find a place to park! They're the last door in the building on the right. I can't say enough good things about this gym!! I was in Portland for two weeks with the military and sadly spent my first week doing hotel gym workouts with only dumbbells and a treadmill. I was ECSTATIC when an acquaintance told me about this wonderful powerlifting heaven here in town! What was even better was the very reasonable price they charged me for 24/7 access for the rest of the time I was here. Basically, if you're a strength athlete, this should be your home in Portland. I wish I could afford to build a place exactly like this back where I'm from!

Yelp
Top notch powerlifting gym, when you first get there it seems small and as though it may lack everything you need to complete your workout but that couldn't be further from the truth. The equipment and atmosphere are quality and the owner, staff and other lifters are extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. I'm seriously considering a membership in the near future with Strength Union, and it is a plus that they are 24/7. The only downside for individuals who have never been there is that it's difficult to find and if you put the address into the GPS it will take you to the wrong place (but still relatively close) and they don't have a sign up outside with the gym name so you don't really know that you're there when you get there. If you call though they will help you find it and get there. I really enjoyed training there though and I will be back!

Yelp
Strength Union is small and may be hard to reach at first, but they're everything you're looking for in a serious, professional gym. Dedicated stations for bench, squat, deadlift, overhand press, and more. Dumbbells run through at least 120lbs. They also have chains, bands, and various bars. The one shower they have works really well and the area is kept clean. They provide a safe space to keep belongings. The gym's owner/operator, Aaron, is a friendly/hospitable individual. Do bring a water jug though, as there's a fill up station, but not an actual spout. Free for first visit, $10 drop in rate. Will be using this gym as a companion to my main gym, Downing's Gym.
