The Best Food, Coffee, and Stalls at Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne | Eater

"A newer micro-precinct made from converted shipping containers and lit by a web of string lights, this atmospheric alley has been repurposed into a colorful vendor strip that injects nightlife and photogenic charm into an otherwise utilitarian corner." - Tristan Lutze

This is by far one of the nicest parts of the market. You can start with a nice cold beer at Brick Lane Brewing on the Peel Street end and then wander along and shop a host of independent artisans operating from within bespoke shipping containers. They offer a variety of locally designed, sourced or produced products including fashion, handbags and purses, vintage, jewellery, tableware and homewares, art, craft, skincare, and books etc. I was intrigued with the String Bean Alley name and since visiting I've learned that it dates back to 1936 and pays tribute to the laneway where green string beans were once sold.

Nice small place open air - coffee was great and the doughnut was delicious! Great friendly service

If you're coming here for the magic of the Christmas Night Market, save yourself the trip and just look at old photos of it instead. Only one row of the market was open. It is a huge disappointment this year (2021).

Great little shopping alley. I bought some nice gifts while strolling with a coffee.

Christmas night market is very average and not much going on. Give it a miss.
