Where to Eat on St. Mark’s Place in the East Village | Eater NY

"One of the city’s best neighborhood pizzerias, Stromboli Pizza has stayed open until 5 a.m. since 1976 and was a hangout for rock bands and rappers (the Beastie Boys among them); the slices ($3.25) feature a sweet tomato sauce with a sprinkle of oregano, a nice carpet of cheese, and a perfect crust." - Robert Sietsema

We had the pleasure of having Josh as our server! It was our 1st time there and the food was absolutely amazing! We had the bruschetta, (FIRE!!!) garlic knots (fluffy and flavorful! and an XL pizza.(!!!!) Quick service and he was so friendly! Funny and super efficient! Would definitely recommend and make sure to shout out the pizza man! He was super sweet as well! Thanks Josh!!

I got a couple slices to go, and when I got back and opened the box I was amazed at how large they were. It was more like ordering four slices. Great deal! They were pretty good too. 😋

If you haven’t tried Stromboli Pizza yet, you’re missing out! The food is fresh, flavorful, and absolutely hits the spot every single time. From the first bite, you can tell they take pride in their ingredients and recipes. A special shoutout to Alyssa, the down-to-earth hostess who greeted us with a genuine smile and made us feel instantly welcome. Her friendly energy set the tone for a fantastic meal. Can’t wait to come back for more! 🍕

We have been ordering delivery from here for over 5 years. Amazing food. However, they stopped using their own delivery drivers and now use a service called "toast". We've tried 4 times now, and each time, the pizza arrives over an houf to 2 hrs after ordering, is room temp when it arrives, and drivers are assigned then reassigned, etc. The time before tonight when we ordered, the pizza arrived almost 2 hours after ordering...the restaurant refunded our order. Tonight, we decided to give them one more try... I placed the order at 4:44pm, and it arrived at 6pm. It's a Tuesday night. Unfortunately, until they go back to their own delivery drivers who would arrive in 20 to 30 minutes with a hot pizza, we will be ordering elsewhere.

Pleasantly surprised all these years later. Stromboli’s was my family go to spot since I was a kid. Real authentic NY pizza. About 3 years ago I came back after a long hiatus and boy did the quality drop. Figured something changed and the place I remember was gone. Just came back this week to give them a second shot and they absolutely got it together! The pizza was fresh, crispy, and authentic NY. Definitely putting them back at the top of best pizza. Glad to see this hidden gem back at it.

Google
This is lowk one of the best pizza places ive tried, im really picky when it comes to textures and this place was really good, the sauce was so smooth and I came here with my brother and we got the meat lovers, it had so much flavor, the dough was perfectly crunchy, and the staff are so nice and friendly, the wait was a little long because there were a lot of to go orders but it was so worth the wait for this, 10/10 would come again ANY day of the week

My experience: I called to place an order over the phone, and to my surprise, the woman who answered was very rude in the way she spoke. From the start, her tone was unpleasant, and she seemed to be in a hurry to hang up — as if answering a customer’s call was an inconvenience rather than part of her job. What bothered me the most: Her tone was disrespectful and unfriendly, with no courtesy at all. She didn’t seem willing to listen or help with the order. The entire conversation felt rushed, as if she wanted to end it as soon as possible, without caring whether the customer was satisfied. What I expected: A polite and professional attitude — that’s all. A simple “thank you for calling” or “how can I help you today?” would have made a huge difference. Suggestion: If the restaurant wants to maintain a good reputation, they should train their staff to treat customers with kindness and respect. Good food doesn’t make up for bad manners. Conclusion: I was left with a very bad impression of this place — not because of the food (I never even got to order), but because of the rude and unprofessional attitude of the person who answered the phone. It’s a shame, because sometimes people don’t stop coming for the food, but for how they were treated.

Google
I am leaving this review for the time I visited this restaurant in April of 2011. The pizza was great, the garlic knots were awesome. The meatball sub was really good. I visited a few times during my stay at the LA Quinta near by. It was great I could of ate the pizza every day.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. My wife and I ordered the Penne A La Vodka and I ordered the Pasta Bolognese. We also got our kiddo a pizza. For the most part, it's. Quaint restaurant, a bit on the expensive side, but the portion and taste quality made it worth it. Each plate and item ran about 17-21 dollars each, definitely shareable if you don't want to over eat or order more than you need. A must try if you are looking to have some Italian and or pizza.

Yelp
It's always good quality, and I've been a loyal customer for years. Their calzones are the best, and their pizza is great. However, I'm giving them only 2 stars because of a recent experience. I placed a pickup order through Instacart and was happy to use the BOGO offer. When I got home, I was disappointed to find that the Spaghetti with Meatballs I had ordered was actually Spaghetti with two half-meatballs. It would be great if they could clarify this in their menu. Another issue I've had is that when I order online, I don't always get the items I ordered. It would be helpful if they could pay more attention to what's released and avoid reducing items in my order.

Yelp
What a hidden gem! Stromboli is hidden in the Fountains plaza but wow does it have a great menu! I called to pickup an order and decided to order the XL Cheese pizza special they have on Mondays and Tuesdays! They are super friendly and welcoming once I went to pick up my order too. The pizza was huge and delicious! I definitely will be ordering from them again soon. I also can't wait to try a few other things on their menu as well, especially their garlic rolls! If you are in the area and craving pizza I definitely recommend the pizza special on Monday and Tuesday! Even not on special, they have a great menu and prices that are definitely reasonable!

Yelp
MONSTER PIZZA SLICE... Family owned long time pizzeria in Plantation next to Dick's Sporting Goods. The front of the store provided a quaint display with several bins of menus identifying specials and coupons. This reminded me of an old style lemonade stand, which implemented good value marketing with a fun inviting vibe. The interior ambiance was traditional Italian theme combined with fun wall art that was entertaining. Loved the big assorted topping pizzas proudly displayed at the front counter. The pizza chef instantly greeted me with a strong Italian accent. There were a few tables inside, although several outside covered patio tables are provided. The counter lady took my extensive order of one slice of cheese pizza and from other reviews the slices were enormous, so I was excited. The fresh slice was placed in front of me and was the size of both my hands - and I have huge hands. The $4.50 was well worth the size of this verified behemoth. The first bite did not disappoint, just the right amount of oil and a crispy cornicione with a thin dough undercarriage with a mid char. This slice easily passed the all important "Flop Test" (See Pic for Verification). The bathroom was clean with reddish orange tiled walls and flooring with an oddly present wooden baby chair. This pizzeria easily hit that strong 5 star rating. Will be a return customer to try one of their fresh cannolis and of course more pizza.

Yelp
5 Stars! I just moved to the area and was craving pizza, so I decided to stop by this place--and I'm so glad I did! From the moment I walked in, I felt incredibly welcomed. The food was absolutely delicious, but what really stood out was the service. Angelica went above and beyond to make my experience special, and I even got a little surprise when I opened my bag! Thank you so much, Angelica! I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
After a couple of visits where I indulged in their cheese slice, I was this close to giving Stromboli Pizza a solid 5-star rating. Let me tell you, their slice is no joke--it's huge. And the dough? Amazing. We're talking thin, crispy, perfectly done, with a solid undercarriage (a term only pizza nerds will appreciate). The cheese is spot on, and the sauce? Chef's kiss. It's slightly sweet but works beautifully. Honestly, it's the closest thing to New York-style pizza I've found in Florida. Then came the test: I ordered a whole pie. Now, to be fair, I took it home, so it wasn't fresh out of the oven, but the dough didn't quite hit the same notes. It wasn't as thin, which threw me off a bit, though it was still good. This had me scratching my head--are they inconsistent, or does the size of the pizza matter? Is the slice from an XL pie while the large is, well, less large? Clearly, these are the existential questions that keep me up at night. Regardless, I'll definitely be back. This place is too good to write off, and I'm rooting for my next visit to be a 5-star experience. The service here is fantastic--friendly smiles all around and genuinely great vibes. It's a small spot in a plaza, so parking is a breeze. Bonus points for the Tesla Supercharger nearby--because nothing pairs better with pizza than topping off your EV. For context: a slice will set you back around $5, but it's basically a quarter of a pie. A full large pie runs about $20. Pretty solid pricing for the quality and portion size. Stromboli Pizza has earned a spot on my regular rotation, and I can't wait to see if they can slice their way to perfection next time!

Yelp
Service was fantastic and the veggie Stromboli and grilled chicken sandwich with fresh mozzarella basil tomatoes and grilled mushrooms and onions on focaccia bread was seriously freaky mad wonderful and to die for This sandwich is literally 3 meals. It's huge If I had to guess the chicken may even have been organic. Very moiste and tasty. We are adding this to our monthly must go list. No disappointments here !

Yelp
Love this pizza spot! The pizza is always fresh, and delicious. The staff is friendly, and the service is always great, whether dining in or ordering for delivery. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great pizza!

Yelp
Stromboli's is our go to place after we have our hair done at Salon Z since it is a short walk around the corner. It is a true pizzeria that is reminiscent of NY. They have a selection of pies on display as well as sandwiches and cannoli shells ready to be filled. We typically have pizza and my daughter and I don't eat meat so they will put pepperoni on 2 of the slices for my husband instead of him having to order separate slices. I am not sure why I don't have more photos as we have been here several times. We have eaten inside and outside and each time we have had amazing & friendly service and the food is always delicious. We had calamari the last time we were there and it was AMAZING! Lightly breaded and very tender. My daughter was a little disappointed there were no tentacles but I was happy it was all rings. We also were given a sample of bruschetta and it was fresh and delicious. All in all the pizza is good. The variety of toppings and slices is awesome. They have a lasagna pie my husband said he wanted to try and and they have individual slices available all day too!

Yelp
I wish the dough was a little crispier but overall a very flavorful and delicious pizza.

Yelp
I mean.. it was fine. Barely. I got the baked ziti which was SWIMMING in sauce. Not very baked. The noodles were also pretty hard. Again, not very baked. I didn't even think this was possible but the garlic bread was so spiced and garlicky.. not in a good way. I know what ur thinking "how can that even be possible". And I agree how could it? Garlic is the best. But this was so overwhelmingly powerful it was too much. The only thing good about this place is the girl working the counter. Her service was amazing. even though it's not your traditional "sit down" restaurant, she waited on me. Not worth it for the price
google avatar

Nola F.

Yelp
This was a very disappointing experience. I ordered a Greek salad and that was ok. I didn't care for the dressing too much but at least the vegetables were fresh. Of course, the main part of the meal should have been the pizza. This pizza lacked flavor. The sauce was very bland. Neither of us enjoyed it much. I ordered a fountain soda drink. This did not taste right so I ordered the Coke in a bottle. The garlic rolls did not have too much garlic on them. The cheesecake was pretty good. It really is New York style. I also did not care for the atmosphere. It was unappealing and not real pleasant to eat in. Our server was nice. There are several restaurants in the area that have pizza I like better.
google avatar

Alejandro K.

Yelp
the food in this place is really good and the inky reason why it doesn't get 5 stars is because is like a cafeteria or new york pizza place. ordered calzone with meatballs and Beacon small size and it was really big, enough to share. the chicken alfredo was super tasty and not overwhelming. service was super good and the lady that helped was extremely friendly and helpful. parking is easy as it is located inside a large plaza
google avatar

Deborah P.

Yelp
I placed an order for takeout after having not eaten here in years and I was pleasantly surprised. For $30, I had a large pepperoni NY style and garlic rolls. I would definitely skip their garlic rolls, as they were doughy and really not all that flavorful. The pizza though was the best pizza I've had in such a long time. The sauce was oddly sweet, but it worked. The pepperoni to cheese ratio was perfect. I will definitely come back for the pizza
google avatar

Yelp
Good food but this app doesn't let me actually post anything that I want to so I'm leaving this random sentence instead

Yelp
Food was amazing would have gotten five stars simply put wait time was normal price was high unfortunately. Honestly worth it but could drop it 20 dollars for two slices and a roll

Aikaterine A.

Yelp
Customer service on point. Casual ambiance with an at home feel. Food is delicious and portions are big. It was our first time and will definitely be a return customer. I went in the evening so my only suggestion is refillable iced tea. It may be me but ice tea is a must for me.

Dolce A.

Yelp
If I could give ten stars for this pizza I would. I haven't had a good slice of pizza since 2018 in New York City. I came across lil mo mozzarella on IG and he reviewed this place. Looked like a legit review so we had to try it. Walking in, it's a typical Italian spot offering pizza, subs, antipasto and specialty sandwiches. But we went for a large half pepperoni half lasagna. The sauce was impeccable, the dough was perfectly soft & thin almost flakey crust but not too thin- idk how they did it- it was literally the perfect pizza crust. We decided to dine in bc we didn't want to wait to dig in. We sat in a big comfortable booth, my husband watched the game on tv and they were playing 60s 70s 80s hit radio, it was nostalgic. The waitress checked on us at the perfect time. We were in and out- took a menu to go for future delivery (5 mile radius)

Yelp
Too many flavorful alternatives. Wait staff could not remember order. Too many pizza places around with better pizza and service

Yelp
**Vegetarian Friendly** This place smells DELICIOUS from the outside. It's a family owned business, and felt like I was at home as soon as I walked in the door. Ordered a basic cheese pizza, and was sadly disappointed. It felt like a generic pizza and nothing was special about it. It held up well overnight for leftovers.

Bridget M.

Yelp
Ordered a Chicken Parm Panini and my husband got the Italian Combo (sub) hoagie, mine was delicious and my husband said he hadn't had a hoagie that good since he worked in South Philly . Ordered delivery, fast and hot .
google avatar

Yelp
Okay so the current owner Louie was so warm, congenial and proud of his products. As my family and I were waiting for our dinner to come he offered us a sample of his bruschetta with fresh garlic, parmesano, basil and tomatoes served room temperature and honestly I was all here for it. The crusty baguette was the perfect vehicle at the perfect temperature to allow the blend of flavor to come through. The eggplant tower is a new item on their updated menu and I found it pleasant but it was still very much a comfort food with the breading and the mozzarella between the layers. Paired with the marinara sauce, we had an instant classic. And last but not least, the pizza. I'd say I was a pretty good standard family-friendly quality. The crust wasn't too crusty, nor too soft. It was not overly dense and oily but it does support the slice very well. My favorite part? The sauce to cheese ratio. The sauce was acidic enough to give the cheese it's pull away from the slice but still leave enough behind to enjoy afterwards. Plus my spinach was wilted just enough that soaked through, it gave me a juicy little bite . Yum!

Yelp
I've been all over South Florida looking for authentic NY style pizza...BINGO, I've found the place. Stromboli pizza is the place. Picture shown is Lasagna pizza. Super delicious.

Yelp
The best pizza you can get in this area. I've lived here a few years now. I tried 4-5 other places nearby. Some ('Brick oven, Jett's') are credible. Most are merely passable. This place, Stromboli's has the goods. Don't even think about it. Come here. The long review: They're nice here! They keep the place clean! You talk to someone on the phone when you call them. They get the orders right. The food is made with love! They care about their pizzas and their customers. We've dined in, we've taken out. We have had a delivery. Each time they did right by us. We're picky about our pizzas. This is no Dominos' household. Now, I give an honorable mention to Sarpino's in downtown Lauderdale. That's over there. They're pretty good. This place beats that place though for all the above reasons in the area and overall. I believe it was Louie who helped us a few times when we stopped in, maybe the owner. You really deserve recognition for the good work you do there! I wished I wrote this sooner, I hope it helps who reads it know not to miss out if you want the best pizza in Fort Lauderdale metro! Edit: Pizzamaking is an art. We forgot because you normally may not expect to get that most places. This is different. Enjoy the photo- I ate the rest too quickly to picture!

Howard S.

Yelp
I enjoyed the eggplant parm dinner very much. It came with a choice of regular salad or cesar. Also garlic rolls. The eggplant parm was very good and among the top that I have had. The two ladies who waited on us were very good, fun to deal with and were smiling. The place is not fancy. The do not serve wine but said next time we can bring our own. We had a nice experience there.
google avatar

Gladys S.

Yelp
Always great to go back and have great service and amazing food! The pizza just just delicious.... You can taste how fresh the ingredients are. Chris and Nadia as well as the other staff members were so nice and made sure we had everything we needed. I will be coming back every chance I get to have awesome pizza! Thank you guys!

Michael G.

Yelp
My favorite pizza they have js the lasagna pizza with extra sauce. Being honest it's not exactly the same every time. It's almost like someone makes it better than someone else. Regardless, the last 4 or 5 times I came to pickup a pizza it was the lasagna pizza. I am looking forward to the next time I can order it!

Yelp
Stromboli Pizza is a great option for pizza in Plantation, Florida. I cannot comment on anything but their pizza, but their pizza is pretty solid. I am originally from New Jersey so I am always on the lookout for good pizza and this place definitely delivers good pizza. This pizza has all the ingredients for a good pizza. The crust, cheese and sauce blend to form a beautiful, harmonious melody and the spices just accent this lovely song. This pizza is very good, especially when considering that you are a bit over a thousand miles of the epicenter of pizza that is commonly known as the New York metropolitan area (you know, the five boroughs of New York City, New Jersey, Long Island and Connecticut). I would definitely recommend Stromboli's Pizza. If you are looking for good pizza and are in or around Plantation, Florida, give this place a try. I don't think you will be disappointed. Come give them a try.
google avatar

Jeffrey F.

Yelp
Decent crispy pizza I got the New York style with pepperoni. It almost had a semolina type thin crust and absolutely zero flop. If you like your pizza crispy and thin this is the way to go. Basically good football pizza it's not New York style and it's not Chicago style but it is really good.
google avatar

Wendy S.

Yelp
We are trying to find a NY style pizza that we really like. So I always go on Yelp to see what people recommend - sadly so far we have not found what we grew up with and so the quest continues. We decided to try Stromboli Pizza in Plantation and called in our order to be picked up. We ordered an extra large NY Style pizza with cheese, sausage and mushroom and a chicken parmigiana dinner entrée. The XL NY style pizza was (18.95 plus 2 toppings at $3.00 each). CHICKEN PARMIGIANA $17.95 Lightly Breaded Chicken Breast, Pan Fried Marinara Sauce, Fresh Mozzarella/Rigatoni It was a big pizza and looked really good as did the chicken parm. We all thought the pizza was just ok. It was a bit over-cooked and the sauce to cheese ratio was heavy on the cheese. I thought they had both mozzarella and cheddar, but the owner reached out to me to say they only use whole fresh mozzarella. But we all really liked the sauce - it was flavorful with perfect consistency on thickness. Yum! My sister said the chicken parm was a bit dry and overcooked. But again, she loved the sauce. We may try again, but there are so many pizza places that I probably will keep searching and trying new ones/
google avatar

Laura W.

Yelp
Their prices were not posted so our lunch for two was over $40. Ask for the prices before you order! The portion sizes are large and we could've split everything.

Paul G.

Yelp
Good pizza, very friendly staff, good menu, not great ambiance, but good food, location in midtown Plantation

Erika S.

Yelp
Im not one to write reviews but all I can say is WOW.. as someone who is raised in NYC this pizza is the closest thing I have to home. My server Angelica was an angel and her service was excellent. She was very very attentive! I loved the family ambiance of the establishment , you can tell they cook everything with love. I definitely would recommend trying them out :)
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
Friendly family owned business. Their Stromboli was to die for. The chef sent a plate of bruschetta to our table - just delicious! We go out of our way to eat here and you should too!
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Try this place tucked in a shopping center in Plantation off University. Has to be one of the best pizza/Italian places I've been to. They do it authentic and everything tastes amazing. Just take a look at this pizza, this is an every day pizza that they make. You have to be kidding me right, this thing was amazing. I would recommend it for your family and friends, great place to have a great meal.
google avatar

Yelp
This place has been a staple in my city since late 80s. It has always been my go to for good Italian food. A lot of Italian restaurants in and around the city have come and gone. They also have a great pizza. Come in on Saturday and Sundays watch the game. Very good chicken francaise and a very good Alfredo sauce.
google avatar

Gary F.

Yelp
We were walking to another Italian restaurant in the same plaza when we stumbled upon this place. We started with a Greek salad, It was so fresh. My daughter had two slices of pizza, they were nice sized slices and very good. I had a chicken parmesan sub. The chicken was so tender, it tasted very good and they definitely didn't skimp on the amount of chicken. My wife ordered something they were not used to making. A veganish stromboli, it looked really good, it needed to be cooked a bit more. Instead of putting it back in they decided to make another one, big mistake. The second one looked cooked but turned out to be raw on the inside. They took it off the bill, an offered to make her something else on the house. It's not that that they had a problem, it's how they handled it. They did an excellent job making my wife.

Zay R.

Yelp
The service is pleasant , I walk in easy and greeted . The food is also great , usually my spot for lunch .
google avatar

Daniel M.

Yelp
This is the finest establishment in south Florida when it comes to Italian food. The Food is made with love not just thrown together like other places, at Stromboli Pizza they make you feel at home whether it's with a Stromboli, a Pizza or the Creamy Alfredo! In fact all of those are Outstanding! My favorite Spot for must have Italian Food!
google avatar

Anna N.

Yelp
love the pizza and garlic rolls, well everything here is good I never had a bad meal. plus it's local. I like to support local businesses, nick use to be the owner, he's from queens, ny not sure if ownership has changed but it's still good food
google avatar

Sono S.

Yelp
this place has the best penne alla vodka with breaded chicken ever. I put my family on this place & now we don't have to order burnt from anthonys cold fire anymore. The pizza sauce is so fresh too you can tell it's homeade we got the margarita and the sauce is sweet but so fresh. I'm glad we live around the corner we love this place.

Alicia K.

Yelp
Price for a Hawaiian pizza online for a medium showed 21.50 called to order added a service fee of 7.00 for delivery, told 45 minutes. That would have been okay but 1 hour and 10 minutes later, with us adding a 4.00 cash tip we received a cold, cold pizza. Called twice before receiving and kept being told you delivery is 7 minute away, he's now 10minutes away..... we live 1.5 miles away. Sooo $32.00 later, we didn't eat. Good bye Stromboli's, with the competition out there, you won't be around much longer if this is how you choose your serve the community.
google avatar

Michele B.

Yelp
Great local pizzeria! Greeted by a few employees. Custom made pizza. We had pineapple, onion, hold the cheese! It was really delicious. Garlic rolls fresh & hot. Indoor & outdoor seating. Perfect little space to get your pizza fix on! I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Tv's, beer, specialty sodas, soup, salad, entrees, speedy service.... what more can you ask for?!
google avatar

Yelp
The best pizza place in Sunrise Fl!!! The waiter was very nice and the service is really fast. The pizzas are huge and absolutely delicious. Very clean spot!

Grace C.

Yelp
Located in a very busy outdoor mall, but the food was outstanding. Not far from my workplace and I am now making Stromboli's one of our favorite lunch spots.

Mike K.

Yelp
We shared rigatoni, chicken parm panini and slices of pizza with garlic rolls. All food was great. Excellent value in this day and age. Staff is really nice.

Yelp
I've been coming to Stromboli's for a slice of pizza and a soda when shopping in the Fountains for years. I'd say more than 20 years. I'm embarrassed to say that other than pizza and calzone, I've never tried any of their other food, and their menu is large. I always think, "Next time," but I never do. Anyway, I really like Stromboli's pizza. It has plenty of cheese, and I particularly enjoy their tomato sauce. It's light and not overpowering with garlic, herbs or thickness. Their crust also has nice flavor and is the perfect NY-style pizza thinness for me. Stromboli's crew has always been friendly and quick with my order. I've never had a bad experience. If you're hungry and in the area, I definitely recommend Stromboli's. Eat in or take out. They have around 10 tables to eat at inside, several of them large booths that can seat 6. I've eaten outside in the breezeway too, but I'm not sure if there are always tables out there.

Yelp
Tonight my friends & Poodle, since it was pouring rain, decided to get some great Italian food. Our server Nadia D was outstanding, always checking on us sitting outside to see if we needed anything. When it came to deserts I was shocked they didn't have Tartufo on the menu, what a disappointment. But that won't stop us for returning, cause there portions are so big who has room for deserts.
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
The Customer Service was great. The food was delicious and fresh. From the pizza to the desert, everything was perfect.
