Atmosphere was very aesthetic and quiet. A lot of people were focused on their pottery. However, I went to Studio Calmplex for the cafe inside. It was confusing to find and I wasn’t sure who to ask to direct me so I had to find it myself. It was a maze, but the space was very calm so I did not mind at all. The hojicha was very good, I would definitely return to try more items on the menu!

Studio Calmplex is a serene oasis where New Yorkers can find peace and calm amidst the city's hustle and bustle. The experience of creating pottery, crafting silver jewelry, or enjoying a matcha and black tea session here feels reminiscent of an artistic retreat in Asia. The instructors are passionate artists deeply committed to their craft. They don’t just offer retail products; they share meaningful artistic and spiritual experiences with those who appreciate creativity and stillness. Participating in the pottery program is my way of meditating. The simple act of shaping clay with my hands, guided by thoughtful instructors, creates a magical, zen-like experience. I highly recommend Studio Calmplex for anyone seeking a unique and memorable experience with family, friends, or a significant other. It’s more than an art studio—it’s a place to reconnect with yourself through the beauty of creation.

Absolutely loved taking the one-day hand sculpt class! The space is bright and peaceful, and the instructor was kind and encouraging. I fell in love with the soothing process of hand-sculpting a cup and saucer. I also love the adjoining cafe, so I highly recommend giving it a visit whether you’re taking classes or not. The sweets are provided by Lysee, and the tea selection is solid. Both their oolong and matcha were excellent. Their tea sets are all made in-house, of course! As I was looking around for a studio to enroll into classes with, this was my top choice! However, all of the multi-class bookings were fully booked for both wheel and hand-sculpt. I recommended booking waaay, way in advance. I had to go with another studio, but I hope to be able to enroll into multi-class course here in the future!

I had such a fantastic experience in this pottery class! As a total beginner, I appreciated how easy the instructions were to follow. Our instructor, Esther, was so patient and kind, making the class even more enjoyable. I’m absolutely in love with the pieces I created! After a month of waiting, I finally picked them up, and they’re perfect for making matcha at home. I’m completely hooked on pottery and can’t wait to take the hand-building class next.

It was a fantastic experience at Studio Calmplex! My girlfriend and I had our first go at pottery, and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. They guided us through the process with such warmth and expertise, making it a memorable and enjoyable time. It's a perfect spot for a date if you're looking to create something unique together. We had so much fun that we're already planning our next visit! Highly recommend it for anyone looking to make special memories.

An overall uniquely satisfying experience that properly encapsulates the calmness of what an artist, especially someone in pottery, is feeling when they are practicing their art. From the excellent and helpful staff, to the perfectly curated environment, I do not think there is a better spot, nor a better way, in the city to enjoy an afternoon of pure relaxation than to immerse yourself in the perfect combination of pottery and tea.

What a lovely space to do ceramics and enjoy some nice tea-based drinks. The instructor for our group ceramics activity was super kind.

I should’ve taken more photos… Yes this is the place you definitely feel like you don’t want to pick up your phone. You would find yourself become immediately calm and relaxed once you step into this place. This would be the place I would find every time I feel stressed in this complicated city. What a beautiful space.
