This place was an absolute blast. The craft brews were delicious, and the staff was beyond top notch. Heidi, Karley, Zack, Erin, & Kelly kick ass. They all make you feel like family, and make want to c9me bac. I look forward to come back when next time I'm in town.

Google
The beer here is really good and they have a big selection of in-house brews. Also they have 14oz and 10oz options which is cool. Can't forget to mention the price is super reasonable!!

Always my first stop when staying in Davis. Excellent ales (my favorite is Froggy Holler), super friendly staff, and an awesome community atmosphere. Whether you're stopping in after a long hike or a day on the slopes, this is a must-visit when you're in the area!

Google
We loved this place! Really impressive beers (kolsch and Citro were what we tried), great atmosphere. It felt like a real community hub. We wished we stayed for pizza night!

Google
Wow! This beer is amazing. Some crafts make me sinusesy but not here and this beer tastes great. Very welcoming. We made friends and enjoyed our visit. Bartender is great and helpful with tastings. The town is historic and charming. I highly recommend.

This is a great bar with a good selection of drinks. I recommend visiting after a walk in Blackwater fall

Google
Good beer, there is a coziness about the place. It's small not enough seating. When we were there at around 4 it was packed, standing room only. All the chairs are bar chairs the only low chairs are 2 rocking chairs. My husband has a bad knee so he couldn't get up on a bar chair, his option was to stand. It would be a lot better if the place was bigger, and more seating options

Yelp
My friends and I enjoyed drinks at Stumptown Ales after a full day of hiking in the area. The taproom has a quaint, charming atmosphere with a mix of bar, high top, and rocking chair seating. The outside store front and tin roof are really cool features of the building. At $5-6 for a beer on tap, you can't beat the prices. Stumptown doesn't offer a food menu, but does allow food to be brought in. With their beers being hop centric, I opted for the Cave Dweller pale ale. My friends enjoyed a Blawberry Smooth Eez sour and a pineapple cider. The drafts are listed on the blackboard above the bar and there's a drink menu including a variety of mead and wine. I would've loved a more seasonal draft but definitely enjoyed!

Yelp
Great cosy bar. Bartenders are super friendly too. No food but that's okay. There are plenty of other great places to eat in Davis.

Yelp
Cozy taproom full of character. Great beer. Friendly staff. Stop in after a hike or when you're passing through Davis for a fun & refreshing time!

Yelp
Great local watering hole. Good beer and great people. Lovely place to stop and enjoy ambiance.

Yelp
Very interesting beer menu. The sours are definitely worth a try. I really enjoyed the east blondie and the cave dweller. I'm not a huge IPA fan. My husband really liked the porter! I barely know her. The bartender was very friendly. Masks were not worn by staff, but there was a bottle of hand sanitizer on the bar.

Yelp
Loved the place.... Great beer. We would definitely go back and suggest that if you are anywhere nearby, and like beer, you should give it a try.

Heather V.

Yelp
Small quaint local bar with some great local brews. The sour my daughter had was her favorite. Bartender was great!

Yelp
Love! We stopped for a drink and to check out the local shops while we were staying nearby. They have an amazing selection of local craft drinks, which is just what we were looking for. The bartenders were great and knowledgeable. It's a bit small inside, but luckily we got there early enough to grab a table. I had a local cider that was amazing (sangria cider!) and everyone else loved their beers or ciders. My friends even picked up some of their super soft t-shirts to boot. If we are ever in town again, we will for sure stop by!

Yelp
My husband and I came here for a few beers after a day of hiking. We had to wait a few minutes before being allowed in as they were at capacity due to COVID restrictions. Once inside, we were able to sit at the bar. We were waited on right away - I ended up with a fruit sour and the kolsch. I thoroughly enjoyed the sour and liked the kolsch for its lightness but it did not have a ton of flavorful notes. I sampled my husbands porter which was nice and light, his amber which I did not like, and the 12% stout that was almost syrupy and way to thick and strong for me. They had a nice variety of beers on their menu catering to a crowd. In addition they had a small wine selection as well. The beers were well priced and it made sense every time to get the larger size based on the price. We walked away with a glass that had "Stumptown Ales" on it with their logo to add to our collection. Overall, I enjoyed my beer choices at this brewery. They were well priced, the bartenders were friendly and the atmosphere was backwoodsy and great. This was a fun find in the heart of Davis!

Yelp
Large tap list with local ciders and meads too. Friendly staff, good service, and excellent beer.
google avatar

Andre A.

Yelp
Drinks were really good. A little crowded but understandable due to the wide selection of ales, ciders and IPAs. The bartenders were really helpful and polite. Definitely a must stop in Davis.

Yelp
I liked the atmosphere of this place. They had rocking chairs by the fireplace with a table in between them for your beer. There was a group of people playing cards at one of the tables and plenty of other people sitting at the bar. They had a place at the bar for you to charge your phone with USB or a regular charger cable, which was nice. On Sundays they don't have food, but allowed us to bring in our own food. They even provided a knife for us to cut our burrito in half. They love their pale ales. Almost everything was a pale ale except for the blonde and an amber. They did have ciders and some wines as well for those of us that don't drink beer. My friend had the amber and said it was okay. Neither of us are fans of IPAs, so choices are limited. I had the dry cider and it was okay too. I like a little bubbly in my ciders and this one was real flat. It wasn't super dry, but wasn't sweet either, so I guess a semi- sweet, leaning toward dry. The bartender was nice. She chatted with the locals, but was friendly as we ordered and paid for our drinks.

Yelp
Beer was subpar. The owner however was rude to my son. She was sitting at the bar without a mask and confronted my 14 year old who walked in waiting for his dad with his sweatshirt over his face. Rude. Rude. The bartender was embarrassed. Understandably.

Yelp
Great assortment of intriguing brews and fun, hometown pub vibe. The bar staff of Cindy, Zach & Kelly are very friendly & attentive. If you're visiting the Canaan Valley, be sure to visit.

Yelp
Stopped off after a days hike at the dolly sods. Located in the cute downtown of Davis, it's a small quaint spot with limited capacity inside due to COVID. Stayed and watched the football games on the big tv above the warm fire place. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar, I had a lactose fruit sour which was light and refreshing, he had one of their double IPA's. The offer beers in 10 or 14 ounce pours. Would like if they offered taster sizes or flights.

Yelp
On our 2nd trip to Davis, we decided to hit up Stumptown Ales to get a taste for the local brews. This is always hard because our group has some non-beer drinkers in it, but Stumptown had wine for them, which was very convenient. Parking was simple, right outside of the front door, and the bar area was beautiful with a gas fireplace, polished wood (oak maybe?) bar, and nice high seats. The outlets on the wall even had USB ports integrated for simpler phone charging - really cool! There were some funny signs around the place, as well as prints of historic pictures. My fiance and I ordered and shared the Left Lucy (brown ale), Six Legged Frog (IPA), and Cave Dweller Pale Ale. All the beers were good, and I personally think they got better as that list progresses (I usually prefer brown ales, but this one could have used a bit more flavor). The Cave Dweller the best of the three. The owner (or who I believe was the owner) was friendly when talking with us when we arrived, but we didn't get to chat too much as I think some regulars were at the other side of the bar. While drinking and eating complementary pretzels, a group of people entered that owned Farm Up Truck, who happened to be selling some of their pastries at Stumptown Ales. I had my camera with me and offered to take some photos of one of the desserts, and after shooting it, I HAD to buy it because it looked so good. I don't know if the food truck and Stumptown are connected in any way, but they definitely complement each other well. I will write a separate review for the food truck. I'm definitely interested in stopping back in to see what's on tap next time we're in Davis!

Yelp
Bar staff is nice however they're drinking so they are slow. Beer is alright. We brought our growler in. We didn't like anything enough to fill. No food. Beer, wine, and cider are available. It was fine but I'm never going back.

Todd G.

Yelp
Not bad. Nothing to lose your panties over. Very average beers but there's nothing wrong with that. A good place to be the only not white person in the room.
google avatar

Mark N.

Yelp
These guys specialize in hop forward ales. All of them are very good but the holy citra is the standout. 8.5% abv double ipa. Amazing stuff
google avatar

Yelp
Pleasant surprise. I was at the laundromat and noticed Stumptown Brewery across the street. Had two brews and they were both delicious. Clothes are dry now, so signing off.

Yelp
I was in the valley for the weekend with some friends to catch some spring snow and stopped at Stumptown Ales to sample the local brew. Wow, was I impressed the moment we walked in the door! Both the decor and temperature (important in snow country) were warm and cozy! We chose a table right in front of their beautiful gas fireplace, although the rocking chairs were calling my name! Each of us had no problem finding a beer selection to suit our individual taste, going with the Easy Blonde, Cave Dweller and a Lefty Lucy. Hungry for dinner, but enjoying the atmosphere, we decided to stay at Stumptown and have a pizza brought in from nearby Sirianni's Cafe. Great evening! If you are in the valley, be sure to stop in at Stumptown Ales! PS They serve wine, too!

Yelp
Great establishment! It's probably the coolest place in all of this sleepy little of Davis. I was in town for a wedding when thankfully I found this place. It has a great atmosphere and honesty is really beautiful for a brewery. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and talkative. Told me and my friends all about the area and they were very engaging in conversation. Tone honest most of their beer options didn't appeal to me I sampled a few and then ended up drinking a glass of the "Porter? I barley knew her!" Which was good and I'm a big fan of porters. Also they had a small growler for $7 which was cool and I picked up for a souvenir! Great place all around.

Dan E.

Yelp
Super cool vibes here! Was happy they had gf cider options. It's nice! Liked the games.

Yelp
Wow, this is a remarkable craft brewery on the main strip of Davis. The owners/staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great assortment of beers; it's rare to find a brewery less than a year old that brews sours, IPAs, and porters that are such high quality. The only "downside" is that they don't do flights and that growlers are limited to a few beer types at a time. That's not much of a complaint, considering they offer 10 oz pours of all their brews, and there isn't a single weak beer on the menu we tried. Oh, every single growler fill was taken to within a quarter inch of the lid. That speaks volumes about their attention to detail and customer service.

Yelp
Super impressed by Davis! Stumptown was a Great microbrew. I tried most and liked them all but one. They had a saison that was a sour holy citrus and cedar house. Which were all very drinkable. They had some doubles which were more sipping bears. The one I didnt like was a blond and looked like their best seller so it might have just been me. Mother and son were running things when I was there and couldn't have been nicer.

Yelp
I promised I'd cease commenting on atmosphere, decor, and ambiance after South Park's Yelp episode ... That said, all of the above are outstanding here. The feel of this place is great, unusually great. The owner greeted us. The beer selection was outstanding, unusually good for a small venue. I had a pulled pork sandwich, also well done. Overall, I had a great experience here... I can't complain.

Yelp
I popped in with my buddy Dean last night. The first thing I noticed was how cool and hip and modern it was. The next thing I noticed was how friendly everybody was. They have the list of the daily drafts on a chalkboard right above the bar. After consulting with the excellent bartender, Mike, I first settled on the six legged frog. What a refreshing and fantastic beer. Fruity and full from start to finish. Just like the way I like my brews. For the next round I tried something a little heavier called the Holy Moses. That too was awesome. Great place. Every time I come up and visit Dean at his house in the neighboring town of Thomas, we are going to pop in and check out Stumptown and see what Mike is pouring.

Yelp
Stumptown Rocks it! The owners are great people who are highly involved in making downtown Davis a go to place. The beers are really good and the names will make you chuckle. The feel of this place is that you have been invited into someone's home. Conversation flows and you really feel like your part of the "regulars". I recommend the "Porter, I barley knew her". Great beers and a great value. I Highly recommend it!
google avatar

Kathy S.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and brews. Several choices including IPAs. My favorite today was the Carriage House Pale Ale - lots of flavor for a pale ale.

Lara M.

Yelp
Great beer. Takeout options for COVID precautions. We had the porter and Citra DIPA and both were great.
google avatar

Joel C.

Yelp
Great beer, great atmosphere, friendly people. Why wouldn't you spend your evening here? It's a short walk from your favorite Davis eateries, so you can stop by before or after dinner. The beers are pretty hop-forward for the east coast and they have a pretty good range.
google avatar

Brandon P.

Yelp
Best beer outside of Vermont! Can't go wrong with anything you order. I prefer both of the DIPA's

Yelp
We had been looking forward to stopping at Stumptown for some time. The interior is well designed. We had the Cave Dweller and Lefty Lucy. Both were good. So, why the two stars? When we first got there, there were two bartenders behind the bar. As time passed, there were several other people behind the bar hanging out, talking to specific folks sitting there. It appeared as though they were owners or someone who had some financial stake in the business. I get that it's good to engage customers, but it seemed more like a bunch of friends just hanging out on a Friday night. Anyways, it wasn't professional. Beyond that, two children who seemed to belong to a few of the folks mentioned above were in the small bathroom area just off the bar screaming, wrestling, and throwing/kicking a football against the wall. It often bounced back into the dining/drinking area. The kids were also behind the bar from time to time. It was disruptive and - again - unprofessional. And it continued the entire time we were there. We could tell there were other patrons disturbed by the ruckus. (One even told the kids as much before she left.) It was disappointing. I hate giving any local business a bad review - especially a local brewery. But it is a business and should be run as such.

Yelp
The beer was great. A wonderful break after a long hike with a good beer!

Lexie F.

Yelp
It was our first time in town and therefore our first time at Stumptown and we had a wonderful experience! It also happened to be the first Saturday they were reopened after being closed for COVID-19. The staff was very friendly and helpful! We will definitely make the trip back!
google avatar

Ashley K.

Yelp
The decor and atmosphere along with its beers can't be beat! The owners are spectacular and so friendly every single time we come.
google avatar

Abbey M.

Yelp
We tried several beers and were impressed by all of them. Nice little space with the friendliest staff. If you find yourself in the area, definitely stop in for a couple brews!
google avatar

Ven S.

Yelp
I came into this place with my buddy Eric Thompson, this meaning that the place is pretty accessible although there is a bit of a step at the front. Eric did not seem to mind. The interior has "mood lighting" and everything is kept in cleanliness. They have several types of microbrews and it is a popular place among locals. I do not drink but I was very politely offered a bottle of water, which was a really nice gesture! I shall visit again.
google avatar

Pete J.

Yelp
Only beer -- a tap room format -- excellent hoppy beers, stouts and more. You can fill a growler. Great people. The Farm UpTruck outside serves food and that completes the picture!

Yelp
I was in Davis WV for just the weekend, hiking and hanging out with friends. I wanted to get to one of the local breweries while we were here but, for one reason or another, it didn't happen during the limited times that they were open. However, driving through town on Monday (Labor Day) we saw that they were open, despite it being their usual day off. So we popped in and the room was cozy. It seemed less like a brewery tasting room and more like a cool bar in a mountain lodge town. We settled down in a couple of rocking chairs and set upon the beer menu. Apparently they'd had a busy weekend as most of the beers on the list were crossed out. So I settled on the Six Legged Frog - one of the cloudiest beers I've ever seen. Usually that's not a good sign but this beer was delicious. Not for the faint of heart (or tongue), it was one of the hoppiest beers I've had (hence the name). It also clocks in at 6.8%, which is fine coz this ain't no session IPA. Krissy got a sour ale called (I think) Who Tarted? (or some kind of play on fart/tart). It wasn't my thing too much and it took her a minute to get used to it but eventually I think she came around. I followed with the Lefty Lucy which is a deep amber ale with a rich malty taste and just a hint of hops, and an AVB in the high 4 range. The perfect beer to follow the frog. Those two beers got me a fair bit loose, especially after a long day of hiking, so I stopped there, in the interest of getting back to the house in one piece. I would have loved to try some of the other beers. Unfortunately they were running low so there were no growler fills happening. So I got a t-shirt instead. This is actually one of three breweries in this area (Blackwater Brewing is currently closed for renovation, and there is another brewery the next town over). In talking with one of the locals, it seems that this is the best of the three. I cannot vouch but, based on my experience, I will happily take his word for it. I don't know what might bring me this way again but if I am ever in Davis WV again, this will certainly be a stop. If ever you are out this way, and they are open, do yourself a favor and stop in. And have one for me.

Beth C.

Yelp
One of the best porters I've had. Great atmosphere and service. Awesome variety of beers. Must do in Davis!

Joshua G.

Yelp
Great customer service and great beer. My personal favorite is Holy Citra. Certainly worthwhile checking out!

Charles V.

Yelp
Wow! What a great place. They don't serve food but the beers are Outstanding. I had the pale blond ale and the wife had the stout. Both were tasty and value priced. It's a great hang out place with a good vibe. Don't miss this place when in Davis

Maika C.

Yelp
This place was great. I had 'Voice of Reason' and 'Holy Strata'- both were fantastic. Welcoming energy from bar staff and customers alike. Hanna and Andrew were so friendly and made us feel at home. Highly recommended if you're in the area.
google avatar

Robert M.

Yelp
I love that all of these new places have opened up in Davis. Great selection of their own products. They specialize in IPAs but their porter is fantastic! Looking forward to the fall when I can try their stout.
google avatar

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Love this place. Great, well curated beer selection - their own and other local brews. The owners are extremely friendly. It has a very cool vibe inside with lots of furniture made of beautiful large tree trunks and stumps. The comfy rocking chairs in front of the fire place is a great touch. Definitely stop in for a beer if you're in Davis.
google avatar

Kat C.

Yelp
We went to Stumptown after a day of hiking in the Dolly Sods. Very friendly place on the main (only) commercial street in Davis. Thick live edge wood bar and tabletops, old photos of the Sods before the fire, and a lively atmosphere that was a social mix of locals and hikers. Plenty of house beers on tap, we especially liked the breakfast stout and the tree legged IPA. True brewery with no kitchen- but you can bring in food from neighboring spots- or the food truck. One suggestion is for them to offer a tasting flight in addition to the current 10 or 14oz pours.
google avatar

Rachelle M.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and great beer. Gets a little crowded on Fridays, but nonetheless, a great time.

Yelp
The server was great didn't get beer but cocktails traveling on motorcycle, the patio was clean ,people seemed ok my cocktail was tasty will return for some beer on the next motorcycle adventure
