On our 2nd trip to Davis, we decided to hit up Stumptown Ales to get a taste for the local brews. This is always hard because our group has some non-beer drinkers in it, but Stumptown had wine for them, which was very convenient. Parking was simple, right outside of the front door, and the bar area was beautiful with a gas fireplace, polished wood (oak maybe?) bar, and nice high seats. The outlets on the wall even had USB ports integrated for simpler phone charging - really cool! There were some funny signs around the place, as well as prints of historic pictures.
My fiance and I ordered and shared the Left Lucy (brown ale), Six Legged Frog (IPA), and Cave Dweller Pale Ale. All the beers were good, and I personally think they got better as that list progresses (I usually prefer brown ales, but this one could have used a bit more flavor). The Cave Dweller the best of the three. The owner (or who I believe was the owner) was friendly when talking with us when we arrived, but we didn't get to chat too much as I think some regulars were at the other side of the bar.
While drinking and eating complementary pretzels, a group of people entered that owned Farm Up Truck, who happened to be selling some of their pastries at Stumptown Ales. I had my camera with me and offered to take some photos of one of the desserts, and after shooting it, I HAD to buy it because it looked so good. I don't know if the food truck and Stumptown are connected in any way, but they definitely complement each other well. I will write a separate review for the food truck.
I'm definitely interested in stopping back in to see what's on tap next time we're in Davis!
