On my bucket list of Portland Coffee Roasters I needed to visit on my trip to town! The flagship store in Division has a warm, upbeat neighborhood coffee joint feel. The Baristas were dealing with a big line on a Sunday morning and were still warm and genuine when I ordered. Espresso ☕️ was very rich, lots of crema enjoyed with notes of dried fruit 😋 Cappuccino was crafted beautifully and served in a house cup, it was wonderful 🙇🏻‍♂️

Had a really pleasant visit to Stumptown Coffee Roasters. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which instantly made the experience better. I asked about the seasonal drinks, and they took the time to explain the options and recommend their favorite. I went with the iced cherry vanilla latte, and it was as delicious as promised. The shortbread cookie, unfortunately, missed the mark for me. It had an odd, eggy smell and taste that I just couldn’t enjoy. On the other hand, the hot matcha was excellent. I usually go for iced, but I’m glad I tried it warm this time. The café itself is clean, cute, and filled with natural light, which made it a great place to relax. Would definitely come back!

Google
Absolutely love this coffee! The rich, smooth flavor makes for the perfect start to my day. The mocha is just the right balance of chocolate and coffee—sweet, indulgent, and satisfying without being too overpowering. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys a delicious cup of coffee or a decadent mocha!

Google
Really cool to visit the original Stumptown cafe which now has a footprint around the USA - coffee was freshly roasted, deliciously pulled & expertly poured.

Google
Could not have been more stoked to visit the original Stumptown Coffee Roasters here in Portland. I have been drinking Stumptown for over ten years now and it’s one of my favorite cold brews as well as whole bean coffee. The original location is super charming and the baristas were incredibly nice and cool. A little slice of Portland history for the day :) and not to mention our cold brew and drip coffee were both perfect. We loved it and hope to be back soon! Thanks, Stumptown!

Google
One of my favorite if not the favorite of Portland coffee houses. Portland is one of those few places where you can ignore Starbucks. Great seatings in this place. Great for studying or socializing. The coffee at any Stumptown is amazing. Good pastry and cookie options to accompany your coffee.

Google
Excellent cafe and matcha lattes. Very nice cozy space. Friendly baristas.

Google
Not a coffee person, but I’m all about the chai latte here. So good—I can’t get enough! Big shout out to Stumptown for not charging extra for alt milk! The best in town!

Yelp
Favorite! The whole crew - Evan, Conrad, all the names I cannot remember. Shout out to being reliable and kind. Lucky to have this in my neighborhood. The espressos are on point, matcha lattes, and yummy food from a local bakery (bfast sandwiches and cardamom bun are especially good). There's indoor seating that's good for work (with power outlets accessible). And a cute patio area discreetly nestled in the back. Great your littles or furry friends. Anytime, I leave out of state I'm sad I can't get decent coffee. So at the airport I always get a "goodbye kiss" from their airport location. What I'm saying is don't go here. It's mine.

Yelp
Been a few years since I was in PDX but Stumptown is still here and thriving. This location was close to where I was heading, so stopped in for a pick me up. Barista was friendly and the drink selection of great coffee is there. I got a nitro cold brew and it was easy to drink, good foam and bubbles, crisp and smooth, everything you want from cold brew. You can add syrup, leave room for cream, etc, but it's pretty decent plain. So that's great, but it is pricy for a coffee, especially with all the shops in the city. That said, the one thing I will note is that they default everything to oat milk, which I'm sure some people appreciate, but as someone who hates oak milk, needs to remember to ask for a substitute, which feels strange, but as long as they got regular whole milk, that's fine with me.

Yelp
Highly disappointed with the femme serving/making drinks Thursday morning 8/15. No effort whatsoever, straight pour to the cup. I know and I agree it still taste like a latte, but if I want espresso shot with warm milk on top I'll do it at home. Now instead of posting on social media highlighting a coffee shop in my neighborhood, my review is here for people to see what to expect. Note: the person who got the order was nice, he even got me excited with a punch card, three drinks every other week would be easy to fill.

Yelp
Had to stop in to try the holiday specials before they transition over. I was very excited for the mint matcha with freeze dried raspberry topping and although the drink I received was very good the barista unfortunately left out any of the raspberry. For $8, I had hoped to get the drink they advertised but again, it was still a good matcha. Looking forward to the January specials.

Yelp
Popular location right on Division where you can try the iconic Stumptown Coffee. The baristas are non-chalant and have a too cool for you vibe, but I would argue this is part of the charm. The drinks are not bad. Latte is solid, and you can add sugar if needed. The kids hot chocolate was... not liked by my kid. But it tasted better after adding a little sugar. Good seating and decorations here, to really immerse yourself in the space. It's a popular spot for tourists, dates, and freelancer workers. They have an awesome vinyl collection and that's where they get all the tunes. Kid friendly, and visited by hipsters, lumberjack enthusiasts, tattoo fans, and keep Portland normal people.

Yelp
When I heard about the option of doing a coffee flight I was so excited! It's truly a coffee lovers dream. My favorite was the Other Mother Latte which had black sesame and peppercorn flavors, as well as the cute chocolate buttons on top! It had a bit of a savory taste which balanced out well together - would definitely get the full size option another time. The pumpkin spice latte was good but nothing super special, and the salted maple latte was a little too bitter for me. The service was friendly and I loved the cozy interior inside, especially the long sofas so there was plenty of room!

Yelp
This is my second negative experience at this location. Same situation the coffee was good but the staff were tired and rude. I drove from McMinnville to try their fall seasonal flight. I came on a Saturday around 3:00 pm thinking it would be a good time to order. Looking at the presentation it does look like a lot of work, probably why they charge $12.00 for 3, 4 oz samples of seasonal lattes. When my order was called I went to the counter to pick up my two flights I noticed they did not look like the description. No amber cups no spoons. I asked why I didn't get the amber cups or spoons. The barista said we are out and you can thank the Oregonian for that. I looked confused and said I wanted to take pictures because the advertisement looks so cool. They ignored me so I left but came back to ask for a spoon. The coffee samples were a bit cold and I found quite a bit of coffee grounds on the bottom of each cup. The flavor was good but l couldn't help being disappointed in driving 40 miles to have a bad experience.

Yelp
This is the cutest place where they have rich coffee flavors and great employees. I'm so impressed with this quaint little shop. Indoor and outdoor seating in such a cute neighborhood. I had something like Caroline's mother just as for a sesame seed one. lol like true fashion, I was grabbing away with the batista and the vibe of this place to jot it down. I also had a Carmel latte with almond milk, which i had to share, and I wished i didn't. We don't have this in Riverside cali oregon is just the vibe.

Yelp
The service was very good. Personable staff who were clearly on a first-name basis with the locals. A great array of pastries. I had the dopio. Presentation was great (see photo). Flavor was good.

Critical G.

Yelp
Some corporate fool thought that the "Fall Flight" (a trio of small lattes) would be "good idea." Wrong. These ridiculous things take so much time to maker that it bogs down the entire making-of-the-coffees process, regardless of how quickly the baristas can work, and here they are the best. Utter idiocy Other than that, however, the coffee quality, all staff, and ambiance, as usual, are excellent.

Yelp
One of my all time favorite coffee roasters and one of my favorite spots to hang out and get a drink. They have plenty of seating here and dare i say it if its not too busy you could get some work done here. The service here was excellent and so friendly which along with the coffee keeps me coming back. This location had parking that was easy which makes it nice to check out. Got a latte which was smooth and rich and had the right balance off coffee flavor. I'm all about just sitting and relaxing and enjoying coffee and this place makes it so welcoming to do so. Ended up getting a mug to take home cause why not get some swag lol.

michelle m.

Yelp
Stopped in to try the fall latte flight. Beautiful presentation and flavors. Black sesame, maple, and pumpkin spice. Black sesame was my favorite, but they were all yummy made by a friendly barista/artist. The cafe has such an accepting, mellow vibe. I loved the good, but non- intrusive, music playing. Hope you can try the lattes.

Yelp
This particular Stumptown is my favorite coffee shop in Portland, which is really saying something when you think about how many coffee shops there are in Portland. Their coffee is delicious. Their service is quick, friendly, and impeccable (it's the only place I know of where seeing a long line of people isn't reason to give up; these folks are fast, efficient, and work together like a well oiled machine). Rain or shine it's just a nice, comfortable place to be and you can enjoy some excellent tunes while you're at it. Their food selection is small but tasty, and their prices are very reasonable. There's a reason they have very regular customers; they are just an all around great go-to. Oh! And I almost forgot to mention that they have a large parking lot and a beautiful, private garden area to relax in. Bonus!
google avatar

Ellen A.

Yelp
Shit coffee + rude service. Several of the baristas treat everyone like shit no matter how nice you are. Awful vibe--never coming back again

Jasmine R.

Yelp
Really great coffee and they don't charge extra for alt milks. Easy parking with a nice outdoor area with picnic tables.

Yelp
What's up: One of the things on our Portland list was to visit Stumptown and try their drinks. We did a quick Google search to map it out and headed off on our journey. Parking: They had a small private lot with plenty of parking available. Environment: The place wasn't very busy when we walked in, so we had plenty of time to figure out what we wanted to order. They also had whole coffee beans and gear to purchase. The menu is listed above the order counter and there are two areas for indoor seating. There's also a couple of tables outside for outdoor dining. We ordered, picked up our drinks, and relaxed at one of the comfy couches. When finished, return your used cups and dishes to the black bins on the left of the counter. Staff members were super friendly and knowledgeable of the menu items. What was ordered: - Rose Gold Matcha (got it in hot. Lightly sweetened matcha with a hint of rose and honey) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. Wow, their matcha was delicious. It's definitely my favorite of all the matcha lattes I've had before. All the flavors meshed very well and it was not overpowering. Definitely worth the try. Credit cards are accepted.

Yelp
I guess I'm the few people who don't agree with the hype! I ordered a seasonal coffee and it was good, but not something I could finish. I also felt superrrr tired after drinking it, so not sure what was up. I think I'll need to try a regular coffee and maybe order it iced. Other than that, the inside was so cute, workers was speedy, and great they had a (small) parking lot. Ordered (Seasonal): Salted Maple Latte
google avatar

Mia H.

Yelp
I came here to study as it's a "Portland staple" and thought that it was such a cute and cozy shop to study in! There's a lot more space inside than it looks, with plenty of seating--but it's also a pretty popular spot, so it can get filled up. I just ordered an Americano and sat at the windows to study. The service was super quick, and the ambiance was great. The only thing I was a bit disappointed about was that my coffee tasted a bit burnt--my boyfriend got a drip coffee that was great, so maybe mine was just an unlucky order. Nonetheless, I wouldn't mind coming back and think that it's a really nice place to get some work done!

Yelp
The three stars are for the sub par service. No sense of the fact that there was a line by tbe staff.

Yelp
I am very impressed by this location! Friendly baristas, clean bathroom, great coffee (well, matcha), it checks every box. Bonus points - they don't upcharge for milk alternatives, in fact, their default is oat milk! They also have a .25 discount for using a mug of theirs or your own! Another bonus - they're open until 5pm! (Some other locations close at 2pm though, so be sure to check!) I love bonuses, and this place sure brings their A-game. The bathroom was also tidy, clean, and well-stocked. A serious bonus. Stumptown is really just lapping up all these compliments, huh? They're worth it, I promise. They have plenty of seating, perfect for working from home, studying, or just enjoying a good cup of jo. They have a few pastry selections from Shoofly Bakery, which is a local vegan bakery! This location checks all my boxes, adding to the list of why Division has some of my favorite coffee shops in town.

Yelp
We stopped by for beans actually, and luckily without a huge selection they had the ones I was looking for in stock. While there the hubby decided to grab a latte, and I accepted a black drip free with my beans purchase. Service was very friendly and my drip great...unfortunately my husband wasn't too happy with the latte. I'm guessing they went too heavy with the milk? I tried it too, and whatever went amiss the drink had almost no coffee flavor. Good drip & good service, just an unfortunate latte result for us today.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
If you like coffee, I'd highly recommend visiting Stumptown. I'm personally not a coffee drinker but my friends are so we stopped by this location on a Sunday morning. It was fairly busy but the line moved quick. The decor inside is also really cute. As for the drinks, the quality of the coffee is very smooth. AND they're dog friendly, even had some treats available for free, which is always a bonus!

Emily H.

Yelp
It's actually sad how rude they are. Their drinks aren't even that good for them to have so much attitude; it almost felt racist the way we were treated. The person at the bar with the big cross earring and shaved head spoke very aggressively to us when we were confused about which drink was announced.
google avatar

Yelp
Love visiting Stumptown Coffee Roasters. They offer drinks, pastries, and merchandise. I ordered a 12 oz cold brew ($4.25) and got some French Roast coffee ($16.00). You order inside and pick up your order at the outdoor window. Pros: -They have dog treats by their pickup window. -good coffee -they will grind your coffee beans for you Cons: -n/a

Austin P.

Yelp
Instead, go down 2 blocks to Good Coffee cafe and get quality coffee and service. This Stumptown doesn't let you add your own cream. The biggest coffee company in Portland is gate keeping their cream. Also, I've tried to go here several times because I live in the neighborhood. I've gotten super watered down coffee that cost $4 and a super disappointing mocha. I used to work at a multi roaster. I know what good coffee tastes like. This is not it. Stumptown beans are good- but this cafe is no bueno.

Tammy K.

Yelp
well great packaging I bought it at my local Publix yesterday whole beans when I saw the dry beans. I was a little concerned in the coffee was way under par. I had the hair bender. i'm going to return the package today Thankfully, Publix has a great return policy. Otherwise I would've had to grind it up and sprinkle it in the yard. i'm not a hater I just don't like the coffee at all weak.

Tanner S.

Yelp
Coffee is dank but, is it company policy to be a total A** hole or something? Literally every stumptown I've gone to the baristas have the worst attitudes ever. I've worked in customer service forever & this is not it. Get it together yall. I get that you live in Portland & think you're the bees knees because you make coffee but, chill out & be nice for a change.
google avatar

rosie R.

Yelp
Stumptown is dependable in the best way. Regardless of the weather outside, they show up, and they're friendly af. They have so many vegan options and one of the tastiest vegan breakfast sandwiches. I love that they carry Shoofly baked goods. I've been coming to this location for a few years now, and I just had the best experience here and decided it was time to review. Thanks to the awesome staff who showed up on this wild, snowy, icy day. We appreciate yall and hope everyone tips you fat today.

Yelp
Finding good cold brew in this city seems to be as easy as finding a bike lane in it. But stopping into the origin shop of Stumptown proved that to find great cold brew you need not search any further. The vibe was great and we had amazing service by the Baristas inside. Super stoked on trying this shop! Highly recommend if your in the area and into solid cold brew!
google avatar

Alyssa C.

Yelp
If you are used to the downtown location for Stumptown this place is a little more intimate and bit quieter, not much though since they pump in music from The Gap apparently... haha... The Rum Raisin latte is amazing - full stop, its truly delicious but the $6 price tag is painful when you drink it in-house since it is served in a mug versus the paper cup with the lid which I think holds slightly more ounces. There are so many options here for every person who needs vegan, dairy-free, etc etc... you can find it here. They also have breakfast sandwiches, sadly, my friend's was completely forgotten when she ordered it and had to follow up; the gentleman was great - he gave her a punch card for a free coffee on her next visit. Everyone was very pleasant and service was still very attentive and friendly and the lattes were served beautifully - see photos! I love that they feature local art! That is one of my favorite things about any local business in any place - when they feature local artists instead of something they can get for $50 at HomeGoods to dress up the walls. I really enjoy the coffee, the atmosphere, and the presentation of said coffee a lot.

Tiffany O.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee places! Love the crew and the space. Thanks for always being a great part of Portland.
google avatar

Henry Y.

Yelp
Great spot to grab a real cup of joe. Prices are fine considering how popular Stumptown is and how its one of the 3 third-wave coffee pioneers. Surprisingly not a lot of foot traffic here. The "garage" space is really cool, with what seems to be local (expensive!) art pieces. PARKING: plenty of street parking around the block.
google avatar

Jacques I.

Yelp
Every time I'm in Portland I always find myself needing to get some coffee from Stumptown Coffee Roasters, so it was a pleasant surprise to find one in the SE neighborhood, near where my friend and I were having brunch. We went to get coffee after brunch and the place on a late morning on a Sunday was packed. A lot of people were standing around the front area, despite the limited amount of seating here. They do roast beans here, so much of the space is for making coffee, which I don't hate. I ordered the summer special, a Pina Colada Cold Brew, which was awesome. It had flavors of pineapple and coconut, as you'd expect, with some cane sugar for sweetness. The cold brew was also smooth, which is how all cold brews should be; I hate when it gets acidic, especially towards the bottom of the cup. But such was not the case here. Overall, this is a good location to pick up some coffee on the go, or even a pastry or breakfast sandwich, which they offer here. Yet, if you're planning to work here, get here early for a seat, as the space isn't large for lounging around. But you're here for the coffee, which is always solid.
google avatar

Mariko K.

Yelp
I tried a decaf Americano and it was bland. Service was fast and friendly, though.
google avatar

Shane S.

Yelp
So cool to be able to visit the first location of such a legendary coffee company. Even with only pickup service (pandemic), the neighborhood is amazing and worth a walk around for the cool Portland vibe and people watching. Of course, the coffee is delicious and the baked goods are a worthy compliment.
google avatar

Maria N.

Yelp
Stumbled upon here while waiting to get a table at Tasty and Daughters. DRINKS I ordered a sweetened matcha latte and the matcha was a very pure taste. I had to add extra creamer as I like my lattes a little more milky. It was a great go-to beverage before brunch. AMBIENCE There are a lot of couches and tables to sit down, relax, or simply work remotely at. Baristas were very approachable.
google avatar

Christin W.

Yelp
I love this coffee shop, it's one of the better coffee shops I've found for working and easily the best in the area I've found so far since moving here last year. Their coffee is excellent, the environment is fantastic and the baristas are wonderful. I do wish they had a bit wider of a selection of coffee drinks however, a white mocha might not be the crafted coffee they're going for but it's still nice once in a while. Still, it's a minor complaint. My only real issue is that they close too damn early! I'd totally stay until 8:00 or 9:00 and keep buying drinks if they were open later than 5:00.
google avatar

Manny G.

Yelp
Amazing coffee. Amazing Staff. Yes this place has it all. Great music playing in the background super chill vibe and great place to get some work done

Ng J.

Yelp
Today I stopped by to enjoy a cup of matcha before heading to work. It was made quickly with nice presentation delivered to start my morning. Their coffee, drinks and a few options of pastries are pretty tasty as well. Nice& friendly little place to stop by for homework, relax, break or just simply enjoy a cup of coffee.
google avatar

Margaret D.

Yelp
Recently stayed nearby and stopped in a couple times. The first time my kid wanted a matcha latte but the shop was out of matcha, so we got a chai latte. It was terrible, it tasted like cloyingly sweet cinnamon syrup and milk. None of the other standard chai notes, just cinnamon. I've never seen my teen throw a coffeehouse drink away but they did. I also bought medium roast beans to take home; the coffee is very weak and kind of on a par with diner coffee, more like light roast. I'm not going to finish grinding all the beans. Another time I stopped by for a latte and it tasted like warm oat milk with a hint of coffee. I had wondered if it was just local taste but another coffee shop down the street had bolder, more flavorful coffee. The shop is cute though. They have some pastries with 1 gluten free selection (a cookie) and I believe 1 vegan selection. The baristas were not unfriendly but also not friendly-- pretty neutral.
google avatar

Ashley A.

Yelp
I ordered a Chai latte. I've had several of them at various cafes around the area lately and this one by far had the weakest, watered down flavor.
google avatar

Alexis C.

Yelp
This was walking distance from where we were staying for the weekend. I have had Stumptown before, a shop in LA that was brewing it but I thought why not stop into an actual shop in Portland? Walking in, it's a cool space and it expands into a room with tables and chairs. Early risers were already in there using WIFI on computers or had their heads in their phones. Others gathered around the main coffee counter waiting for their order. Husband ordered espresso and I had an almond milk cappuccino. I wasn't too impressed with the service, as I was expecting them to be friendlier, but they really weren't. Maybe it looks like I'm not from around? I really don't know - but whatever, coffee was good.
google avatar

Eugene A.

Yelp
Once I had the first Stumptown cappuccino, I had to have a few more. Very smooth chocolatey taste with the perfect proportion of espresso to milk with a nice thick foam. As I write this review, I am holding a Stumptown cappuccino brewed at Cupcake Royale in Seattle. I saw The Stumptown sign in the window and stopped in. It's that good!

Jermel-Lynn Q.

Yelp
I truly love this place when it comes to coffee. If anyone knows me I love love love coffee. Especially when it comes from Stumptown coffee roasters. The people that work here are so friendly and the people that are knowledgeable about coffee are super prideful about the product that they give out to their customers. The reason why come back to this place all the time is not only because of the quality of the coffee but the quality of the people. The people here are just so friendly and they always put a smile on my face. I've traveled to a lot of places that actually grow coffee like Guatemala & Columbia. And I'm also from a place that actually roast coffee as well, how are you. The coffee here is exceptional. Whenever I have people visiting Portland I always come to this specific shop. Because I want them to taste some of the best coffee in Portland.
google avatar

Scott A.

Yelp
WATERED DOWN!!!! The barista WATERED DOWN my cup of coffee! I should have just gone to Burger King and saved over two dollars. Stumptown used to have GOOD coffee that actually tasted GOOD! Portland fucking SUCKS!
google avatar

Christopher D.

Yelp
Friendly coffee roasters and in an easily accessible location. There is a parking lot but there are also 10-minute parking spots directly in front of the coffee shop. I gave it a 4-star because I asked and paid for an extra shot in my latte but I didn't realize that it was missed until I was half way to my destination when I took my first sip.
google avatar

Cas A.

Yelp
Customer service here is horrible! We live down the block- We wanted to love coming here... but the rude service overpowers the flavor of their coffee. We don't mind walking a few more blocks to be treated well.

John B.

Yelp
Just stopped by to grab a coffee cause Starbucks was trash and this was easily one of the least enjoyable stops I've made all week lmao. The lady barely said a word to me and seemed like she hated her life with the way she took my order. The guy taking out the trash also seemed unhappy. Not sure if it was a bad day or what, but I've worked in coffee for 8+ years and the vibe inside this shop was not welcoming whatsoever. Maybe learn to smile or at least act like you enjoy being at work when you're taking a customers order. Won't be coming back here haha. My drink also has coffee grinds in it so that's lovely.

Yelp
Interesting coffee place. This is Portland local coffee shop. They have coffee beans for sales. Interesting place. I had a sip of their coffee its has a pretty strong smell. Reminded me of Chinese medicine. Well I am not a coffee drinker. But according to my friend this is good coffee. As well the decor of the place is quite interesting. It has a Coffee Roaster in the middle of the store. As well they have seats available for sitting. Good location. Friendly staff as well.
