All staff were so friendly and helpful. My toddler picked out his first Pokémon card and he found a Blues Clues funko. The shop assistant Emma was the absolute sweetest. Highly recommend stopping by ❤️

This store is too freaking cute! Somewhat reminds me of Kanto PokéMart in Chilliwack. I almost walked out with a Mew card and Umbreon water bottle, but refrained. I’d stop by often if I lived closer just to collect Mew items. I settled on the OMSI and Tokyo Sando stickers— completely obsessed with all the Pokemon art here! The Eevee outside is insane, I wish I owned a plush that big. Definitely a fun downtown gem and conveniently located next to a spooky custard spot.

This is a cute gift shop that has cool, quirky items! Definitely a great shop for Japanese, anime and/or Pokémon enthusiasts! One of the staff, Jimmy, helped us with purchasing Pokémon cards. He also had three of the sweetest dogs (that he brings on the weekends) and they were so welcoming to pet them!

Google
(please notice the lack being able to accept feedback from negative reviews) I have been numerous times and have spent a decent amount of money. However the last time I was there was one of the most disappointing experiences I've had shopping in awhile. I will say that in my past I have had some experience being profiled while shopping. I can spot it a mile away if someone things I'm suspicious. Despite me never shoplifting. It hasn't happened to me in awhile as I have gotten older. I do have a lot of tattoos and on this day I was wearing a big coat as it was cold. As a queer person though I've always figured a place with a progress pride flag flying out front that I wouldn't be judge. This day a worker was staring at me the moment I walked in. Extremely obvious. Then they went straight to me asking a lot of questions like what I was shopping for. "I'm looking for Christmas gifts" but they kept going. I then let them know I was ok and didn't need help and thanked them. I kept it brief and to the point no room to interpret that they needed to continue being a sales person. I was even wearing headphones. They just didn't stop though... Staring and always facing me while I moved... I feel more confident with this summary as the store was filled and this person just walked by everyone and focused on me. As I left they walked behind the counter to sit. Not going to anyone else to try to be a sales person I feel very confident they profiled me. Which is completely their right and I respect that despite not agreeing with it. It's just extremely disappointing and embarrassing after spending as much money as I have. It really pressed into my self esteem for the next few days and lightly depressed me. There are plenty of alternatives to this store so it's not the end of my Christmas shopping! I would encourage you to do the same too.

Google
I had the most amazing experience at stump town otaku! The store had an amazing variety and selection (very well priced) including Pokémon (and cards), digimon, and a lot of other anime’s & figures. Prices were great! But what made my experience truly amazing was Justin! They were so so kind and made my experience truly special!! Will definitely be coming back again and bringing friends.

Google
Cool fun store to visit when in Portland! They had a bunch of different anime and cartoon merch. The owner Jimmy was really nice and had his dogs in the shop, super adorable! Thanks again for having us in your store :)

Google
Well, I'll be darned if Stumptown Otaku ain't the best little hideout for an otaku in Portland! I moseyed on in there just once, but it sure left a mark like a good ol' cattle brand. This place is chock-full of all sorts of shiny doodads - plush critters, fancy figures, and art that'd make ya wanna holler. They've got this here selection that's wider than the open range; every kind of show ya can think of, from the ones folks yap about to the ones only a true fan would know. The atmosphere's like walking into a saloon where everyone knows your name - or at least your favorite anime. The folks runnin' the place, they're friendly as can be, eager to share their passion like it's campfire tales. They even got a little corner where local artists can hang their wares, and I reckon I found me a real treasure with a local-made piece - felt like I struck gold. Ya walk in and see shelves stocked with figures, walls lined with posters, and cases full of manga that'd make any fan's heart skip a beat. It ain't just about the goods though; it's about that feelin' of community, like you're part of something bigger than your lonesome self. The prices? Reasonable, yessiree, and everything's quality, not just some cheap trinkets. I wandered out with a bag full of treasures, feelin' richer than when I walked in. If ya find yerself ridin' through Portland, better tip yer hat to Stumptown Otaku - it's a mighty fine rest stop for any anime lover. It's a place where the spirit of otaku thrives, and I reckon I'll be back to saddle up with more goodies from this there store.

Google
The staff here is SO nice and fun. We had a blast opening our pulls from Pokemon with them. The selection at the time was great as well for cards.

Yelp
Great selection of anime fan goods! I love the custom artwork by the owner that blends characters together from popular series.

Yelp
Abysmally bad service!!! I won't ever go back into this place again considering how I was treated! UPDATE: The owner is now harassing me on here. The owner is now lying about me. He seems to think I am someone else. Umm...No, that wasn't me. I have no idea who that was that you are talking about but it wasn't me. I came in, I asked the staff person I question and was treated rudely. I left shortly after that. The owner continues to harass me in private messages.

Yelp
A cute store to shop at especially if you love Pokémon! When I first visited this store, the first thing that caught my eye was the huge and inflatable Eevee outside the store. It was super cute and fun to take pictures with. The store staff locks the door from the outside, so you have to flag down a staff member to let you in. I thought that was strange, but I realized they are probably doing that for anti-theft purposes since they do carry a lot of expensive items. Walking-in, I was amazed with the décor and selection. It was like I was walking through a store from Japan itself. There was a good variety of items with stuff from the Pokémon company to stuff created by small business owners. I ended up getting 4 Pokémon prints to hang in my room that were created by a small business owner. They had a deal for buy 3 get 1 free, so I could not refuse especially since the prints were so cute. I liked how they had deals like that for a lot of things. When I checked out, they even gave me a free custom sticker. My only critique is the prices. The prices are generally on the higher side for both the imported and custom made goods and this is coming from someone from LA. The 3 prints I bought totaled to around $45 which a bit high. Overall, a good experience here. I would come back if I had some extra money to spend.

Yelp
walked by and saw this charming store. we just came from rose city comic con earlier this month and this is a mini-version of all the fun things in the exhibit halls. i want to go back with the family the next time i go to the dining hall across the way. pine street i think. yum

Yelp
My son wanted to stop here since he is a huge fan of anime. The guy working here was pretty cool and helping my son find that perfect thing to take back home. There is such a variety of collector items that I feel would be impossible to find one item out of the store because everything is super cool. The shop is a bit small but they have so many plushies, figurines, keychains, stickers, and other souvenirs that are themed. There are Pokemon items, Hello Kitty items, anime items from One Piece, Demon Slayer, Spy Family, and so many others. Prices are not too bad unlike other stores in LA, so that was good. If you are shopping and cannot simply choose, you can buy these themed grab bags which are a surprise. Such a cool concept and reminds me of the grab bags from Sanrio. If we ever come back to Portland, I am sure we will be back!

Yelp
Before this store existed, Portland didn't have anything like it. I think it's awesome to fill a niche and I think the city is better for the store existing. Otaku is the Japanese word for "nerd." Fittingly, the store has all sorts of Japanese nerd and pop culture products, from figurines to plushies to artwork to video games. Think Pokémon, Ghibli, DragonBall Z, Hello Kitty, etc. When I visited, I was looking for a gift for a friend from a specific video game franchise. They didn't have what I wanted at the store and staff was not familiar with the game. So perhaps your more deep-reaching content is not available here, but their website does say they're open to custom ordering items if you reach out to them. The store owner is somewhat outspoken online about the issues his store faces being located in Old Town (theft, vandalism, etc). I can respect that, but I think it has also produced some drama. LGBTQ-owned, Veteran-owned, according to their Instagram.

Yelp
Really cute store with lots of great items anime and Pokemon related. The workers there are friendly and we even got free stickers just for stopping by. The store is about medium sized and I think they even mentioned they're in the process of adding a 3D printer upstairs. Everything is priced a little more expensive than we're used to, but still a great store with a lot of options. Parking is available on the street. You can pay at the parking meters or with the parking kitty app.

Yelp
This place is so cute. They had so many different things inside. I bought a One Piece keychain bag where you get a mystery keychain of someone from the One Piece pirates. They have different machines where they might have small plushies or figurines and you have to try to get them by using coins. It was very clean and well organized. You can also find Demon Slayer figurines, Jujutsu Kaisen and others. If you love plushies and figurines you have to check this place out.

Yelp
I had been wanting to come check this place out when I saw it on social media. The store is located on the opposite side of the Pine Street Market building. There are so many plushies, stickers, figurines, keychains, and etc. I got some cute Pokémon stickers and a blind box. I saw a poster of Cardcaptors, but I didn't see anything else of this anime.
google avatar

Tsyria T.

Yelp
One of my new favorite small businesses! My favorite thing there is probably all their stickers. They have a lot of pokemon and anime themed stickers as well as crosses (like Spy Family x Pokemon) with the cutest art. I'm a sucker for stickers so I was so delighted to find them! The giant totoro outside is what brought me in and a cute feature as well. They have little plushes, figurines, art, claw machines, a few Japanese snacks. Great gift shop for sure! Nice service too. We bought a canvas art piece and they were so nice to wrap it up and check with us to make sure it was ok. They also offered to print things as well if one wasn't in stock. Location in downtown makes parking a challenge, but well worth a visit. Across the street from Pine Street Market which is reviving with new restaurants (great day right there - eat something at the Market, maybe stop by Saturday Market, go to Stumptown Otaku!)

Yelp
Such a cool little store, with a bunch of nostalgic characters from animes from my childhood. Also, a lot of funny twist on those characters for stickers, toys, figurines, and more. The workers are very friendly although the place is so packed and the toys are super awesome.

Jim V.

Yelp
After I came inside the store the only entrance was locked behind me and I saw that each time a customer wanted in or out the employee at the register had to walk across the store to the door and manually unlock and then lock the door behind them. This seems really unsafe if there was an emergency where people needed to leave quickly.
google avatar

Deedee C.

Yelp
One of the rare stores you can find anime figurines, Pokemon plushies, and pop art all at once. It's hard to miss the Totoro in front, and even harder to miss the bins of plushies sorted by color inside. All my friends who visit Portland love coming to this store. It's such a cozy and beautiful place and there's so many types of pop products they sell. I once spotted the owner (next time I'll say hi!). While some items are a bit pricier, there's something for everyone. Will be returning!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is the best when it comes to anime and Asian figurine collecting! When you first walk in you are greeted with an enthusiastic "Hello! How can we help you? Oh and how do you feel about dogs?" My initial reaction was oh they're nice and pet friendly that's cool! No they have an amazing dog named Emma! YOU MUST PET EMMA OR NO ENTRY! Jk jk. The store is well organized and you are able to find things relatively well and if you can't well don't worry their amazing staff helps out with a ton! This was the first time shopping here and I appreciate all the help and service y'all provided! Will be coming back asap!

Yelp
Cute tiny shop. Lots of little anime items and some Japanese snacks. Staff was friendly. Store was cute and clean but smaller than expected. Items were pricey but very cute variety of stuff.

Yelp
I had originally written this review on Yelp in much shorter form and deleted it. I left a review on Google Maps after discovered a Pokemon plush I had bought from him was a fake. The owner responded to my review with hostility and false claims, so I edited it to add more facts. First of all, the shop literally sells plush that were never made by the official Pokemon company, like eeveelution Mimikyus. So they cannot be official Pokemon products, because official versions were never made. They aren't even real Pokemon! They are a fan creation. For my case, I had purchased from the store a Mix au Lait eeveelution plush, a plush line that came out in Japan in 2019 and now sells for a lot secondhand, but he had a ton of them for cheap in 2023 which I unknowingly bought. After comparing pictures online, I found that the version I bought from him does not have embroidered foot pads like the real one and has an additional suction cup strap on the top, which the real ones don't, but the fake ones on Aliexpress do. A lot of other Pokemon plush he sells suspiciously seem to have identical counterparts on Aliexpress as well, despite not having been released from the Pokemon company as official plush for a long time (if ever...). This goes for eeveelution Mimikyus, the ditto Pokemon plush, and Pikachu in costume plush that the store has sold. Originally, the owner claimed that all his merchandise is officially licensed and purchased through legitimate channels. After pointing out the above to the owner, including that he sells Pokemon plush that are IMPOSSIBLE to have real versions of, he claimed he no longer sells fake Mimikyu, when they are in fact still on his website (see screenshot)! He also claimed the fake plush were sold when he was not the owner. He has ALWAYS been the owner and in full control of the merchandise. He is locally famous for it and has had articles in papers about his store that he started. I'm pretty sure he's the guy in the logo! I don't know how he can lie so blatantly like that. Upset at this escalating situation, I left a 1 paragraph review on Yelp about the fake plush, but deleted it after realizing Yelp shows my real name. Well, guess what? I was right to be cautious, because he responded by updating his response to me on Google with my real name, after I had deleted the Yelp review within 5 minutes of posting it. Likely, he is trying to intimidate me. Bro, what the f? Well, now you get the full Yelp review and more, so I hope you're happy about that. In doing some digging regarding the fake Pokemon plush, I discovered others have made this complaint and claim to have had their comments removed when it was brought up on the shop's social media. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but his responses have ripped that away. The only nice thing I will say is that he said he would give me a refund if I emailed him with proof, but I honestly do not want this guy to have ANY more of my information than he already has. I should be able to speak out about being sold FAKE merchandise, which is STILL being sold on HIS website that HE OWNS, without having my information maliciously exposed in an attempt to intimidate me. On top of all of this, I think that the store's customers need to know that they record everyone in the store all the time and occasionally post the videos on Reddit as part of the owners anti-shoplifting crusade. However, not all videos show only criminals as he claims. He has posted videos of people just acting weird, or one woman who apparently felt unsafe in the store that he labelled as a "Paris Hilton wannabe" and posted a video of her on Reddit to publicly mock her. See my screenshots of his posts of customers on Reddit. This guy seems legitimately insane. I am never setting foot in this store again.

Yelp
THIS STORE IS SO DANG CUTE!!!! When entering, the staff unlocks the door for you which I appreciated and found reasonable given the location. I was so excited to visit this shop after seeing a video on TikTok. They have so many cute stuffed Pokémon, figures, stickers, studio ghibli, etc. The prices were reasonable and fair. Definitely give this shop a visit if you're looking for a gift for someone or even yourself!

Yelp
This place is so cute! I wanted to make sure I wrote a review because it definitely made my Portland trip! The staff was so sweet in helping me pick my stickers and there were a lot of options whether it was studies , stickers , figurines , claw machines, they had everything! I honestly really enjoyed there sticker collection they had some Pokémon stickers that had Portland incorporated into it . There selection was amazing and they had good deals going on throughout the shop . So happy to be able tot ale home so little gifts to my friends back home. Definitely worth stopping by. The value is great!

Yelp
If my daughters could have designed and stocked a store, it would look exactly like this. We walked out with a knit Totoro, a suction cup stuffy Totoro for the car, an Aerodactyl stuffy, a Totodile stuffy, a load of stickers for the cooler featuring Gudatama cheeks, Sanrio characters and Pokémon camping. We also got alllll the sets of legos of the cutest little street village and they all connect. Ramen house, tea house, sushi shack, seafood shack etc. We got some special Pokémon crashes style figurines, like a Greninja Pickachu. We did the 4 tokens Naruto cat machine and I got the main character! It was endless, everything was so tempting to buy! This was the perfect place to take my eldest while she visited! The ONLY downside is that they added mini claw machines the day AFTER my eldest left, haha! She screenshot an IG story from the store and was so sad that she missed them! Upside, we'll be coming here again to test our skills! We would have rummaged their snack section if we hadn't just eaten a huge lunch! But they had all sorts of drinks and snacks! Lastly, the store usually has a running raffle and the prize is always amazing.

Yelp
Really fun store full of Pokémon, Miyazaki, etc and all very reasonably priced! So fun

Roxana A.

Yelp
Very lovely store! I love the original art. The team is really friendly. I was able to find some items to complete my Demon Slayer collection. The prices are standard.

Yelp
Great store if you love Japanese flair. Love the vending machines and the giant Totoro out front

Ryan C.

Yelp
Came here multiple times from a long way trying to buy Pokemon cards and was denied. Would not recommend coming here for Pokemon cards in store or on their whatnot.

Yelp
I discovered this shop in the Portland Geek Guide I picked up at the Airport Visitor center and was transported to a magical wonderland of Anime, Manga and so much more. Hard to find collectibles, fabulous artwork and tons of other treasures that made my nerd heart smile. The staff was amazing and super helpful answering all my goofy questions and helping me find things I didn't even know I was looking for.

Tyler L.

Yelp
I really want to go, because from the review of this place, I can definitely be counting on visiting the next place. Hopefully we can asking question as well, because I got a lot of similar alleyway to ask about. Still, must go for that.
google avatar

Taro B.

Yelp
If you're into Pokemon, Miyazaki films, Sanrio, etc, this place is for you. They even sell a variety of Japanese soda pop beverages. The gentleman who worked there (I think his name was Joshua) was so kind, that when my mother stepped in gum, he took time to clean her shoes! He didn't have to do that, but he did, and my mother was very grateful. The place is located right across the street from the Pine Street Market, so if you're eating there, come check this place out! It's also located conveniently off the Oak/SW 1st Trimet Max stop
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
This store was amazing. I wanted to buy everything! It was all so cute, especially the digital print of the Pokémon in Portland. I also loved the huge mural they had painted behind the cashier's desk and the inclusive Pride flags. This place reignited my childhood loves. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Such an amazing spot to go to look for Pokemon or any amine items. The owners and workers are so cool and sweet. I got a McDonald comic bag art and a couple Pokemon stuff. We loved it and truly happy what we got. The value on what you get is so worth it! Thank you guys for making our first trip here in Portland great.
google avatar

Valerie I.

Yelp
The first time I came in here was last September and I've been back since then the atmosphere of this store really cheers me up. Always a pleasure coming in here!!
google avatar

Steven M.

Yelp
Really fun shop to visit, it's actually become one of my must visit stores every time I visit my friends in Portland. Staff is great and I could honestly just spend so much time talking about various anime with them, that I'm basically dragged out by my friends. While I would buy their whole store because I want it all, if they don't carry something in particular, they've helped me by pointing me in the right direction. Really fun shop to visit and if you find yourself in Portland, taking in the local life, drop on by!
google avatar

Haley B.

Yelp
Had such a great experience today with one of the staffers! He let me and my friend in the back to look at their Pokémon card selection at our request and I just got to stand around and talk Pokémon! Would definitely reccomend giving this place a look and I regret not buying some of the wonderful prints sold there.

Elaine L.

Yelp
Visited Portland for a week and stumbled across this shop. My favorite place of all the places we went to in Portland. Went back three of the 7 days we were in Portland! Even went back right before our flight home. I went in because I saw the giant Totoro outside, Totoro is my favorite. Came out first day with a bunch of Anya from Spy x family stuff. If you like anime merch and pokemon cards (both English and Japanese versions) I would recommend coming here. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable! If I'm ever back in Portland, I will definitely be back! They also have an online store so that's definitely a plus for someone that doesn't live in the area and wants cute anime stuff and still wants to support them!
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
Met this owner through a comic convention, the absolute sweetest. I knew I had to stop by when visiting Portland! Such a great shop and will definitely be a must visit whenever we come through ~
google avatar

Josh C.

Yelp
A welcoming and safe space for everyone to enjoy some quality Anime goods! Can't go wrong with the prices as well! Also, there are some Portland specific specialty Pokémon artwork drawn by the owner! Did I mention this place is veteran owned? If you're in the Portland area, you should definitely drop by this place and check them out!

Yelp
I love this shop. So much fun stuff to look at. Lots of cool plushies and figures as well as some tasty snacks and drinks that can be hard to find other places

Emily A.

Yelp
Super friendly staff. Made us feel welcome. They had some fun in-house made items. Would absolutely recommend.

Jocelyn F.

Yelp
not a lot of merchandise. store also was unorganized. guys at the registers were nice and welcoming though

onyx s.

Yelp
i love going here, cool stuff and an awesome vibe. they always have some anime playing on the tv. they have a little selection of japanese snacks and drinks too!! highly recommend stopping by if your in the downtown area.

Steven R.

Yelp
My favorite anime store hands down. As someone in the LGBT+ community it makes me feel happy to see a welcoming and safe store with merchandise that celebrates my identity. They host a variety of products including works from local artists and their stock rotates so it's always a new experience whenever I go in to shop. It's been so great to see them expand their business and I can't wait to see what the future holds.

Jerry C.

Yelp
Their store offers a great selection of toys and nerdy goods and the employees are great!

Stephan H.

Yelp
This little shop is one of the coolest in the area! I'm always recommending it to friends for their selection of neat anime merch, plush toys, and random little desk decorations. The custom art that the owner puts on the shops stickers is cute, and I'll cherish my Snorlax eating ramen as long as i can! The folks that work there have never been anything less than kind and helpful, I cannot recommend it enough!

Lynette Z.

Yelp
Had so much fun looking through the shop. Lots of fun items!! My friend found a rare figurine she just adores. Worth a stop to check it out!!

Summer H.

Yelp
This store is so cute! I'm obsessed and already planning on going back! Lots of 3d printed items with were awesome. Love my Pokémon plushie.
