Su Gologone

"It is difficult to choose between the three delightful rooms in this restaurant. One has a huge fireplace used for roasting the famous porceddu (suckling pig); another, more intimate in style, is dedicated to a well-known ceramist; while the third is adorned with works by a Sardinian artist. Whichever you choose, you’ll enjoy traditional cuisine from inland Sardinia with the option of dining on a panoramic terrace overlooking vineyards and olive groves in fine weather. House specialities include suckling pig roasted on the spit, maccarones de busa (pasta), and culurgiones (a type of ravioli)." - Michelin Inspector

Beautiful hotel in stunning surroundings. Our room was nothing special but had everything we needed. I asked for a softish bed due to a bad hip and the staff added a mattress topper for me. However, I still found the bed quite firm. We stayed for 2 nights at the end of our stay in Sardinia and wanted complete rest so we didn't leave he hotel at all. The sea food at the Gazebo was to die for although it was really hot sitting eating there at lunch time even with fans running. Evening meal in the hotel restaurant was superb. We ordered too much food but did get a chance to try most of their offerings. I found the suckling pig dry, the roasted lamb was delicious, wild boar was ok and I also enjoyed the goat. The pool area was nice and clean, my only criticism here was that there was not enough shade. The shade from the static, thatched parasols did not cover the double sun beds and because they were static then it was difficult to get shade unless you dragged sunbeds under the limited shade from trees. Shady spots were popular and if we arrived at the pool after 10am, there was no shade left. All in all we really enjoyed our stay so the negatives are meant as constructive criticism and did not spoil our stay in the slightest.

From the moment we turned into the drive entering the hotel property, we knew we were about to experience something amazing. The Old Spanish architecture was charming. We were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff members who made us feel right at home. Our room was clean and comfortable, and had all the amenities you would expect. The dining experiences were first class and afforded outdoor views that were simply stunning. We found the service to be prompt and pleasant. The food was great! The location of the hotel was convenient to many wineries and other attractions. For us, one of the best features was the quiet and totally relaxing atmosphere. Our stay was wonderful and we would definitely stay there again.

The hotel rooms were very beautiful and immersed in the natural surroundings of the hotel. I also loved that the hotel offered lots of activities, but most were not free of charge, in fact were expensive. The pool was wonderful and kid friendly which was a huge plus. Be mindful that a jacuzzi is advertised, but the jacuzzi is not heated, it is heated by the sun, meaning it is not very warm

We loved this hotel more than any we have ever stayed in. So many things to see and so many experiences on offer. The rooms and bathroom were slightly disappointing, but the other areas made up for that. The general restaurant has the most stunning views. I couldn't imagine a nicer setting for breakfast. The food was traditional and very good. Prices in the bar are similar to the UK. Every corner of the entire grounds was like an art gallery, or a museum, or just beautifully landscaped gardens. They grow lots of their own produce too. Very pleasant staff, which was always the case at other 6 hotels we stayed in during our trip

Spent the last 4 nights at end of our 10 day Sardinian holiday, it was perfect.||Its a busy hotel as very popular with 'outsiders/locals' so there is always something going on, but luckily there are so many 'nooks & crannies' to hang out that away from the main building/pool you can have plenty privacy.|Very nice friendly welcome, offered a complimentary drink too.||Rooms - I had booked a Junior Suite dell'Arte and was upgraded to Suite (not dell'Arte which I preferred as simple white decor), they very kindly took note of my request for a light bright room, we were given no65 (but would have been equally happy with junior suite next door no67 similar decor just smaller). If you want privacy then best higher floor. Loved our room, all white, very light, spacious, comfortable, perfect terrace/balcony with bath which we didn't use. Also booked Classic room which was same white style as ours but smaller, a little dark, no 47, tiny outside balcony at front but window was ground level at back (on slope)||Love that they provide a basket tagged with your room number and pool towels (which you can refresh down by the pool). 'Nespresso' machine with generous number of pods. No milk but when we phoned requesting, it was delivered within 5 minutes (super quick), in a jug which lasted us our 4 nights stay.||- do make sure you go to Bar Tablao for aperitvo early evening, beautiful setting|- Gazebo restaurant had lovely menu, just wish it was open at night for dinner. Pool drinks are served here but the lifeguard regularly comes around to take orders. It is only for hotel guests|- Pool (only hotel guests), perfect temperature, good size if a little shallow. A pity there are no steps/ladder at both ends. The concrete around the pool is very rough so can't climb out of pool and tough on feet to walk on. Would be nice if area is a little less rough including cutting the grass. Hedge along edge is so high that one cannot appreciate the gorgeous view from the pool. Whole area around pool could do with a bit of 'renovation'.|- Restaurant in evening - good food but eating there twice was enough. Breakfast has plenty of choice and is of decent quality though staff not as helpful or friendly as in the evening service.|- Mini-golf, it is so uncared for, broken in parts, bushes in the way of where you tee off, what a mess, but hey, it was fun to play though no surprise, lost a ball.|- Recommend kayaking (20€pp) and visiting the Spring (2.50€ pp, inc in Kayak), just 5-10 minutes walk, offered by 3rd party||Hotel is a little tired in parts but I get the impression that they constantly renovate/improve, certainly our bedroom (clean white) did not reflect a lot of the photos and felt clean and fresh.||Overall a perfect 4 day stay.

Positives-Friendly and efficient staff. Beautiful grounds and gardens. Large pool that’s clean and at a good temperature. Dinner was very good and the wine is reasonably priced.|Negatives-The chairs in the restaurant are uncomfortable. The sun loungers by the pool are too low and there’s not enough shaded areas. Breakfast was disappointing as they do not seem to replenish the bacon and scrambled eggs regularly. There’s very little salad or vegetables on offer. The homemade bread was all gone by 9.15 and not replaced.||Overall - There’s not enough staff at this large and sprawling hotel to focus on the detail that would warrant the extra star review. |For the price it should be better.

It is a fantastic location, definitely try to get a suite it is worth the money. Perfect pool, greenery, services and good food. We found it as a good base to visit some beaches - particularly Cala Luna - although resort is in the mountain Great attention to detail, I would definitely recommend to friends. You may visit one of the restaurant from outside but one would really miss the overall experience They also have some activities or themed dinners that one should try. The Sarda dinner one involving traditional food and music is particularly nice.

I would have rated it higher if we hadn’t been seated behind a pillar that blocked the view, and if I hadn’t had to deal with the blonde woman at reception, who clearly prioritises hotel guests over restaurant-only customers. The final straw was when I went to pay — she made another client, who had arrived after me at the till, pay first. That said, the food was delicious and the waitresses were very nice.
