Suba

"The name (Suba translates as “climb up” in Portuguese) offers an invitation to dine at this restaurant on the top floor of the Verride Palácio Santa Catarina hotel, a palatial 18C property that has provided the aristocratic inspiration for the uniforms worn by the attentive team. Once you’ve savoured its modern and extensive Portuguese-style cuisine (á la carte, including vegetarian options, and as many as five menus), head up to the panoramic rooftop with its stunning 360° views of Lisbon. Children under 12 are not permitted in the restaurant." - Michelin Inspector

Michelin star restaurant and experience. My (new) fiancée and I celebrated our engagement together here and got the tasting course with the wine pairing. This may have been the best food I’ve ever eaten in my life. The service was also immaculate. It is pricey but worth it for a special occasion. Every course was phenomenal and so impressively presented. Highly recommend. They also made our engagement feel very special by coordinating with me ahead of time to have flowers and a cake brought at the end.

Suba is a one of a kind fine dining experience. Located on the 7th floor in Hotel Verride, you are instantly greeted upon arrival and taken care of. The atmosphere is simply majestic, with views of Lisbon from above surrounding you as you are seated. An a la carte, 5 course experience, and full course experience are offered. Although the most pricey, the full experience is well worth it. Ken and his fellow servers were personable and provided the most exquisite service. I suggest allowing the Suba’s team of highly trained servers to lead the experience both with the plates and wine pairings. Suba has some of the most pristine wines to offer in Lisbon so wine pairing with your experience is highly recommended. While every dish is unique in its presentation and flair, the Tuna, Blue Lobster, and Milk Goat dishes were among the group favorites. As a world traveler that has high expectations for culinary experiences such as Suba, expectations were exceeded in every aspect.

We had a group dinner at the winter garden and it was absolutely delightful. The flavours were exquisite, both for the regular and the vegan meals. The customer service during the booking process was very attentive and we were warmly welcomed at the winter garden upon arrival. And last, but not least, the hotel is a beautifully decorated, unique place in its own right, with stunning views. Hope to come back in the future!

Our visit to Suba was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The entrance through the hotel already felt special – we were greeted by a friendly host who escorted us to the elevator, which took us to the 7th floor. There, a welcoming waiter showed us to our table, offering stunning views of the Lisbon bay. The view alone was worth the visit. The seven-course menu was incredible, with each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. My wife had a vegetarian version, and it was just as impressive. The fact that they catered to her so thoughtfully really stood out to us. The service was 🤝.The staff made us feel welcome and looked after us throughout the evening, ensuring everything was perfect. Thank you, Suba, and your amazing team for giving us such a memorable experience on Christmas Day. If you're looking for outstanding food, impeccable service, and breathtaking views of Lisbon, Suba ks the place to visit!

My wife and I were visiting Portugal for our Honeymoon and decided to make reservations at SUBA! I am so glad we did because it was our favorite restaurant experience during our whole trip. The location is great, the the views were amazing and the food was some of the best I have ever had! The staff was very attentive and felt very laid back and not as high strung as other Michelin star places which I enjoyed. Felt like less pressure when eating, there was no rush and everything came out perfectly. The dishes presentations were hands down some of the best plating I have seen. Each dish was like an art piece and tasted delicious. I did the tasting menu and wife stuck to A La Carte. The kitchen threw us some starter dishes and balanced our servings accordingly since I had way more dishes then my wife which was nice. The desserts were awesome and the cocktails were great! We did mention to the sommelier we were not wine drinkers when he came to our table. There was no issue with this whatsoever. After dinner, our waiter Francisco told us about the rooftop. We got to chat with Joanna as well and informed us all about the building and the history. That rooftop bar was such a special treat after dessert. There was nobody on the rooftop considering every rooftop bar is mobbed at sunset. I was very surprised but we were told by the hotel staff in the lobby it's because they have a minimum to drink on the rooftop which probably discourages some guests but for us, we loved it, felt very intimate and special being our anniversary!

March 7th 2024 dinner in Lisbon: 1-star Michelin restaurant, Suba, was great! The food pushed my boundaries a bit when it came to eating lightly seared Royal pigeon, but it turned out to be delicious with a potent raspberry sauce. The dining room was quiet. It was raining intensely when we got there, so our view of the water was a little obscured, but I bet it would be nice on a rain-free day. The staff was very nice and polite. At the end of the evening, we walked out to the rooftop, even though it was torrential downpour of rain. It was still a nice city view. I like this restaurant because their dishes are creative, full of flavor, and a fair price for a Michelin restaurant. I would pick this place again.

Suba is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. The tasting menu was nothing short of spectacular – each dish was a masterpiece, blending flavors in ways I’ve never imagined. Every course told a story, and the attention to detail in both presentation and taste was incredible. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the experience even more special. If you're looking for a culinary journey that excites the senses, Suba is the place to be. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Suba is an extraordinary culinary experience that truly deserves five stars. The exquisite dishes on the tasting menu were a delight, offering a perfect blend of flavors and textures. The service was impeccable, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who made the evening truly special. The ambiance is elegant and inviting, providing a perfect setting for a memorable dining experience. You have an amazing view of the Tragus River no matter where you are seated. Afterwards, one of the hostesses lead us to the roof top to catch amazing views for pictures when we were done dining, even though the bar upstairs was closed! Suba is a must-visit for anyone seeking exceptional cuisine in Lisbon.

Yelp
Wow, my friend had booked a reservation here for himself before I arrived in Portugal, and towards the end of our trip, we booked another reservation for the two of us because he raved about it, and it was just that good. The restaurant is located on an upper floor of a nice hotel by the water in Lisbon. The restaurant itself is small and only seats a few tables, but every table has a wonderful view of the landscape outside. When I went, we opted for the 7 course tasting menu. Each dish we had was spectacular and the plating and presentation was phenomenal. I am not typically a wine person, but I had sips of my friend's wine pairings with each course, and you can tell that the pairings were well thought out and complemented each course extremely well. When you first sit down, they offer you tapioca chips served in an adorable trolley then come by with a bread cart of 4 different selections of bread (don't worry, you can ask for one of each and they will accommodate ). The bread comes with a spectacular garlic butter and seafood paste (I think it was crab?). For the appetizers and mains, there was a good mix of seafood and meat dishes. Everything was beautifully presented and I throughly enjoyed every single course (which is rare for a tasting menu!). The staff were extremely friendly, and the servers bringing out the food described the dishes well and were very receptive to questions. It was funny when a server brought out the pigeon that she specified it was from the countryside and had never seen the city, haha. The sommelier was also very impressive and did a wonderful job describing each wine and how they paired with each dish. After our meal, the staff also invited us to go to their private rooftop to see their 360 view of the city. They claim it is the 2nd highest rooftop to view the city from! I thoroughly enjoyed this meal and would definitely return when I am back in Portugal.

Yelp
Excellent from start to end. Service is outstanding, food is amazing! Each course was a work of art! Ambiance is very elegant and simple, yet sophisticated. Truly memorable.

Yelp
Of course this is one of the most expensive restaurants in Lisbon, but for good reason. I had the set menu and the Portuguese wines which were all delicious. Great service and a wonderful view.

Yelp
Cannot recommend enough! This last minute addition to our Portugal trip ended up being one of the highlights! We did the 5 course vegetarian menu & 5 course chef's menu with wine tastings, but were served closer to 7-8 courses including the extensive courvet. The vegetarian menu was phenomenal -- it was totally different from the chef's menu and was actually created around vegetables, rather than trying to approximate the meat courses. Wine was well-paired with generous pours. Service was 10/10. Ended the night with drinks on the rooftop--bartender Nuno makes the best cocktails to go with the dazzling view

Yelp
Suba is little gem tucked away from the tourism of Lisbon. A beautiful experience with top notch staff and food. It was a perfect way to end our vacation; a time to slow down and enjoy the quiet and a different side of Portugal from the local foods to the wines from across the country.

Yelp
One of our favorite tasting menus ever! The dishes were subtle and complex in their flavor. Nice presentation with some surprises. Very friendly staff. Beautiful views of the sunset; make sure to check out the view from the rooftop before it gets dark! Generous in the complimentary extras as well. Excellent value for the price as well.

Yelp
I can't recommend this restaurant enough! The servers were so excited about all the food and it was so refreshing to have such an immersive experience. Lots of extra courses thrown in and everything is exquisitely made and plated

Yelp
Wow this was the fanciest dinner I've ever had. Incredible presentation, each item was a work of art. If you have any kind of special occasion in Lisbon, this is the place to go, find an excuse. 5 star dining that blows away the fanciest places in Manhattan, and so cheap! We had appetizers, entrees, desserts, and wine, only $130 USD and it was literally the most memorable meal I've had in a decade.

Yelp
Besides the amazing 360 degrees view of Lisbon, which would almost make all the rest redundant, food was great and not as expensive as one would imagine (at least the executive menu). I will return for sure.

Yelp
Horrible service. Made reservation to celebrate mother's birthday; bought ticket to Lisbon to celebrate my mom's birthday; and then restaurant calls to tell me with less than 48 hours notice that they no longer had table for us because of their own IT mishaps and were overbooked. Thhey were dismissive and for a restaurant of that star category, lacked any ability to fix the situation or recognize their own wrongdoing. Stay away.
