A £3,000 Caviar Chest Headlines Miro Restaurant Mayfair’s Menu | Eater London

"A new Mayfair restaurant opening on Burlington Street by former Zuma chef Toby Burrowes that leans into performative luxury and seafood-led excess. The launch menu centers on an over-the-top caviar spectacle — a 'sunken caviar chest' designed to be filled with a full kilogram of prized roe for around £3,000 — alongside dishes described as 'sexy and delicious' such as king-crab croquettes, caviar-topped linguine, a 'fish-and-chips with a twist' (confit potato topped with fatty tuna, mayonnaise and sturgeon pearls), tacos, sashimi, lobster, scallop ceviche and steaks. The chef frames the concept as deliberately gimmicky and Instagram-ready; the drinks list matches the extravagance (examples cited include a £5,000 French 75 made with 1970 Dom Pérignon and a martini served with rare albino caviar), and commentators note the tension between eye-catching spectacle and the wasteful or excessive elements of the proposition." - James Hansen

Went to celebrate my birthday with my friends. We all loved the atmosphere and food! Great vibes, music and staff. The food and drinks were delicious. Amazing staff, who made my birthday extra special at the end with their singing!

The food was exceptional! Fish & chips worth the hype. Very tasty and well prepared. Service was so attentive, they explained every detail about the dishes. The head chef was so friendly with the guests. Dessert options would be better but it’s still amazing. Thanks to everyone.

Absolutely lovely place! Would strongly recommend to get a bite and a nice drink! Strongly recommend taking a look at the cocktails menu as some look absolutely great! They also have a DJ playing there and the vibe it’s just great. Staff are super friendly and helpful, and they offer veggie options as well! Not sure about the name but they had some cauliflower sides as seen in the pics that were aaaamazing they didn’t feel like cauliflower at all 🙌🏻

Had a wonderful dinner here. Service was attentive, waiter pointed out that one of our choices might contain some lard which was commendable. Everything we had looked and tasted as good as it could be.

Absolutely delicious food with great variety on the menu - I recommend going with a big appetite and people you can share anything and everything with so you can experience as much as you can. It’s very pricey, but suppose that is to be expected in Mayfair, so it’s definitely one to save for a treat.

I’ve personally haven’t left a restaurant feeling underwhelmed in a while… I’m a big fan of anything yellowtail… carpaccio, ceviche, I love it all! But this Himache just didn’t hit the spot, it didn’t melt in my mouth like the dish should do, it didn’t eat light or fresh either. The Chicken Karage was described as sweet and spicy, it didn’t give crispy and it gave BBQ sauce instead which I hate so I sent it back. The sushi… mediocre, for the price would have been better off at Wasabi. I struggled to finish it which was a strong indication I weren’t enjoying. The S’Mores? Not the best choice of marshmallow to serve, if I’m honest. Nice concept though. Also ordered lemon sorbet, was so disappointing wasn’t even worth a photo… I got served lemon flavoured ice gloop in a glass for £7. They insisted on bringing another serve but I was over it at this point…. I also want to point out the portion sizes… we ordered Edamame as you do… the tiniest bowl for £6 was disappointing for value. It’s a shame because I’m very particular about choosing a birthday restaurant and wanted to give into a new business, but I’ll probably be hesitant doing so for an occasion going forward. I do want to give a strong recommendation for their staff however, polite, informative and pleasant, they did well… but the food that came out the kitchen? ☹️ I do want to applaud them however for making a nice stance on halal options! The inclusivity is inviting!

Miro Mayfair is a new trendy spot in the heart of central London. An amazing chef like Toby Burrowes (previously at Zuma). It would be a challenge to miss the sweet spot with all these different factors at hand. Asian fusion and a little play on British culture too with the iconic fish & chip nigiri. One of my favourite flavours is the chicken & cauliflower karaage.
