Subway Restaurant Owners Allege Widespread Sabotage by Franchise Agents | Eater

"Dozens of U.S. franchisees and former inspectors accuse the world’s largest fast-food chain of systematically mismanaging franchise agreements, alleging that corporate incentives pushed regional development agents to rig store inspections at profitable locations and seize or force closures of stores. The chain — operating about 24,223 U.S. restaurants, many run by immigrants — expanded aggressively under co-founder Fred DeLuca until 2015; after a PR crisis tied to longtime spokesperson Jared Fogle and DeLuca’s death, new leadership began reducing store count and has closed thousands since 2016. Franchisees report repeated citations for trivial infractions (handprints on windows, cucumbers sliced too thick) and describe more serious alleged sabotage, including an inspector puncturing a meatball storage bag with a thermometer to create a false temperature reading; former field consultant Rebecca Husler called her role a “hit man,” alleging development agent Chirayu Patel encouraged selective enforcement and took over targeted restaurants. Critics point to a structural conflict of interest because development-agent roles are often filled by other franchisees, and although litigation has increased, few owners have prevailed; observers say the company’s private ownership and limited FTC oversight make franchise risks hard to evaluate and that addressing internal governance would do more for reputation than marketing campaigns." - Brenna Houck

I ordered from DoorDash and received an old seven days past due apple juice. I tried calling numerous times. No answers. I didn’t eat my order at all. After seeing the moldy drink, I only sniffed my sandwich. Which it smelled really bad also. This place needs to be shut down immediately!!

This location is located inside a gas station so the atmosphere really isn't there as it's meant to be a quick in and out. The food was good and the service was quick. If this were a stand-alone location it would be rated higher in regards to atmosphere.

What a cool subway in the coolest gas station. The lady was so fun and nice. I love grilled chicken sub sandwich.

If the option can be zero, it would be zero. Poor customer service, even worse tasting food. The manager was actually present, and it didn't make it any better. His name was Darvy. Unsure, how Darvy is the manager of this location, but that shouldn't be the case, as he has a very condescending tone when he talks to the customers and rude.

Not good service or quality of the ingredients. Employee left my sandwiches on the counter after they were heated up to do a bunch of other things and it took so long that they ended up getting really cold. Also they have an I don't care attitude which is fine, I will not come by this location anymore 👍🏾

It's's a Subway inside of a gas station that accepted online ordering and coupon codes. The only employee was nice and friendly but forgot our chuurros having to turn back. Also, the wrong cheese was placed on one of the subs and the warm subs were with the cold subs. The subs were pretty good for Subway but save your money on the chuurros.

The manager (?) announced he was shutting down service around 6:30 21/12/24 which I understand, shutting down to regroup after an extremely busy run. But when I asked when he thought he could reopen service, he refused to answer or even acknowledge that he’s been asked anything. We are been stuck in traffic for hours on the interstate and were staying in the hotel behind this location. So we just wanted something quick to eat. I grabbed a hotdog out of the heater for dinner instead. The cashier at the gas station counter. It’s extremely nice and I hope she has a wonderful Christmas But that manager, if that’s what he was at Subway. I hope his Christmas sucks.

Out of lettuce, tomatoes, and the rolls had to be 3 or 4 days old. Employees also very rude.
