Subway and Potbelly Face Layoffs and Closures Amid COVID-19 | Eater

"This longtime sandwich chain has been hit hard by the pandemic, which accelerated a planned restructuring and led to more than 150 additional layoffs — including about 100 from corporate offices — on top of roughly 300 cuts earlier in the year. Store traffic has declined every year since 2013, and attempts to pivot (such as selling groceries out of select locations) haven’t stopped the downturn. Though it’s one of many places to get an under-stuffed turkey-and-cheese sub, many customers say they’d particularly miss the chain’s famously good cookies." - Jaya Saxena

I went in today (12-30) to sub way on N Gilcrease in tulsa to get my lil lady a sandwich (I work homehealth) and asked the lady if she can put mayo on both sides of bread.she got a attitude and said it's nasty and started yelling at me telling me to get out..because i told her shes the only one that's had a problem doing it.and it was for my lil lady and that's how she likes it. She's got a ULGY ATTITUDE AND DONT NEED TO WORK WITH THE PUBLIC!! OHH.i asked for my receipt and she got it and slammed it on the counter and said my name is Morgan and said good luck!

Stopped by the Gilcrease store on 09/19/2025 to order a salad. The worker was sweeping the floor but still asked "how can I help you"? I said I wanted a salad. She finished sweeping and proceeded to putting on the gloves. I ask her if she was going to wash her hands. She said, "That's what the gloves are for." I proceeded to walk out. Just nasty. Not to mention that when looking at the veggies in the container, everything was contaminated with everything in the container. Do better. I will not return.

I ordered a Chicken Bacon Ranch for lunch. They didn't have ranch,so I had to do with mustard. I added a bottled water, and the total came out to be $18. I put the water back, and it was still 14.67. The sub was puny, and I was still hungry afterwards. The owner should be ashamed.

Wasn't greeted politely. "What bread you want was the greeting" they were out of spinach and I literally got 10 leaves she didn't refill it I didn't say anything I'll just post a review. This was around 2 pm on a Wednesday they wasn't busy. I was third in line. And the store stinks! Literally is smelly not saying that cause they were rude it literally stank.

I absolutely love the people that work here. I've never had a complaint with them All my orders have been correct and appealing. This is my favorite subway shop in the Tulsa and surrounding area.

Yelp
If I could have the recording of what happened today In this store . No one would eat eat there ever again The manager apparently no one is above him in the management line Phil smith I guess his. Name Was a very aggressive nasty individual, but discriminated and initiated problems. Out of nowhere. I have came in there with a team of eight people simply have a peaceful lunch before our shift starts when this guy out of nowhere refuses to sell my partner any food accusing him of looking at him the wrong way All of his employees are there to be proof on today, February 12 at 12 PM I will escalate this to corporate office, if anybody in review is the owner of this franchise, please, I do recommend you taking initiative in immediate action towards this individual he does not care about business, nor quality of the service. Very disappointed I really hope you guys take care of this issue and this guy is reviewed. I am sure this is the first time this happened. I've got customers that were in the restaurant are willing to back us up .

Yelp
I know it has been difficult for restaurants and other establishments to hire experienced employees for the last couple of years, but please... I asked if a Caesar chicken wrap could be made and was told yes, seemingly by the person in charge. When the other employee was beginning to make the wrap and asked if I wanted the wrap heated and I said no, the other one in charge mumbled under his breath, "We always heat chicken," and then aloud, "She can have cold chicken." Wrap-making was down to getting the dressing applied when I was told they didn't have Caesar dressing. And then when the poor girl wrapped the sandwich it was basically square. So as I ate I could get a bite of just lettuce, another bite of just cheese, another bite of just chicken, etc. These two employees need some training.

Yelp
This is consistently the worst service of any subway I have been to. I'm not sure if there's high turnover, but each time I've been, there's new staff. Now, I don't go here often, so maybe it's just scheduling. One time I got there right at opening and waited an extra 20 minutes, because the opener got there late and had to leave to get change for the register. Every single time, the staff is extraordinarily slow at making sandwiches and working the register. I would say maybe a 3rd person is needed, BUT the staff could absolutely pick up their pace and not present themselves like they hate being there. It's not fair to the other staff, who hustle double time to make up for the other or for the disappearing staff that go to get olives and maybe get lost.

Yelp
Hands down the best service I have ever had from any Subway, they greeted me perfectly and got my food made very fast. Easy 5 stars for the great work
