10 Standout Sweet Spots in New Orleans

"This pastry shop is New Orleans’s answer to the French-born Ladurée: Instagrammable, pastel, and displaying rows of treats almost too pretty to consume. Sucré is best known for its creamy gelato, colorful macaroons, specialty chocolates, and photogenic desserts. You won’t find cocktails here, so this is definitely for a more wholesome end to the night, but there isn’t a lack of liquid treats here. Try one of their milkshakes, flavored lattes, Ashwagandha, lavender London fog, or matcha fizz. The French Quarter location is now joined by Magazine Street and a new Freret Street outpost." - Adriana Lopez, Eater Staff

The Best Ice Cream, Gelato, and Soft Serve in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"This Magazine Street pastry shop is back with new owners but just as much style; New Orleans’s answer to, “What’s the city’s most Instagrammable bakery?” Sucré might be best known for macaroons, but gelato is a close second — flavors include turtle cheesecake, pistachio, and nectar cream, and sorbets include coconut basil, mango, and raspberry. The French Quarter location is now (re) open." - Beth D’Addono

I had a lovely experience with my husband. Great dessert after dinner. I love the decor and colors. The service was excellent with recommendations and fan favorites. We purchased two cupcakes, one cookies and cream and one confetti cupcake. Chamomile tea and vanilla latte with oat milk. Antonio was so great along with the other young lady. 💕

We love this dessert place. Very clean and classy inside. Their affogato is divine! We got the milkshake and cherry ice cream as well and Trinidy made it well! She’s very friendly, accommodating and warm. This is a good break from the hot weather and walking along Royal.

Google
This was a cute dessert shop! It was very clean and organized. The options were clearly labeled. I don't recall prices being listed anywhere? I had the pink lady and it was $15. The pink lady reminded me of a strawberry shortcake. It was very yummy! My nephew got a macaroon and he took one bite and loved it! Not sure how much he paid. The server was very pleasant and nice. Her makeup was also on point. She knew what she was doing because her whole vibe matched the dessert store and I feel like anyone else wouldn't have complemented the feel as well. I wasn't greeted when I walked in, but she was very pleasant once we got to the register. I didn't ask for samples so I'm not sure if they offer them. The price was high compared to what I'm used to, but I guess it was worth it. I do recommend this shop! I would definitely come back.

This was the first place I stopped in New Orleans on our family vacation. I was really wanting a sweet treat and this hit the spot! The blackberry macarons are AMAZING. I would also recommend the pink lady and confetti cupcake (macaron sprinkles). Such a cute interior and open late. It hit the spot!

Google
I wanted to try this place after seeing how pretty the interior looked. Strawberry gelato was the only thing I tried, and it was super creamy and amazing. They have many other options. This place is clean, organized and has a pleasant vibe.

Google
The place is set up beautifully & employees were engaging and friendly. We spent $45 on 2 scoops of Gelato, 2 macaroons, and a cheesecake. Gelato was meh, macaroons were great, but the cheesecake was ... not good. Pricy for meh. Wish we hadn't spent $13 on the cheesecake. 😒

For anyone that sees a high-end store front and worries the flavors won’t be as rich as you might want, don’t worry - their flavors and service are perfect. The girl that helped our group with our orders today was extremely kind and patient. My friends tried out some of the gelatos (the strawberry had real chunks of strawberry), while I got the Cookies & Cream Cupcake, my wife got the Blueberry Muffin (to go with coffee later) and my daughter got a few of the macarons. The cupcake was divine - rich without making you feel it in your fillings 😂 and the cake was just soft and as delightful as the frosting. As a simple kind of guy, a lot of times I feel like the higher end bakeries tend to either to be too rich or lack so much sugar it tastes like cardboard. This is neither. My daughter is in love with the macarons, and the muffin seems to have the perfect balance of dense with crunchy, sugary topping.

Google
Higher end dessert shop. I only tried their ice creM which was flavorful but a bit too sweet for my taste. They carry macaroons and a handful of desserts. Most stuff does not have price tags which I do not like A cup of ice cream is about $7

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience at Sucre! The place is super fancy but the workers were very friendly and patient as we perused the desserts. They even do coffee and gelato. We had macarons, petit fours, and cupcakes. Everything was delicious and worth the price; albeit a little pricey! I'd definitely go back for sweets.

Yelp
Was walking around the block looking for a sweet treat and came across this place! Very cute and trendy looking but gives me "Instagram" vibes a bit --pretty food and aesthetic but the food is just fine and a bit overpriced. Vanilla eclair: yummy, but not life changing /had better Almond gelato: good, mint choc chip gelato: okay but tastes a bit like toothpaste mint rather than tasty mint. Affogato: Good and probably what I would order again bc the it cuts the sweet flavor. We also ordered macarons, here's our ranking: - 1. Salted caramel - 2. Pistachio - 3. Cafe au lait (not enough coffee) - 4. Chocolate (too sweet)
google avatar

Yelp
Well, certain flavors were okay! I don't recommend the confetti. I'm not sure what it was, but there was a hint of nutmeg. I recommend the triple chocolate though. Service was great! The scooper was so sweet and very accommodating. And I love the interior--pink, minimal, and quiet. Great for taking Instagram photos,

Yelp
So adorable and cute! Definitely for the tourists and that was me today! I indulged in two petit four cakes - yummy! The coffee and service were outstanding!

Yelp
Yum So beautiful you don't want to bite in. Loved my gelato. Thank you for a great treat.

Yelp
So many gelato flavors! The baked goods were out of this world with fast friendly service

Yelp
Super cute spot. I went to two locations and the service was prompt and staff were kind at both spots. Some people say it's overpriced but there aren't many dessert spots in the French quarter that have cold treats. The salted caramel macarons and fruit flavored sorbets were great. (I went 3 times lol)
google avatar

Jennifer V.

Yelp
Cute shop but underwhelming desserts. I got the strawberry cupcake which was okay but didn't taste much different than a store bought cake. My friend enjoyed their eggnog milkshake but wasn't wowed. Both things were pretty expensive, so overall not necessarily worth it in my opinion. Service was fast despite being busy!

Yelp
Sucre is my go-to dessert spot after brunch or dinner in the Quarter. I'm a sucker for macaron and gelato. My favorite is the pistachio macaron with the almond gelato- so delicious and just sweet enough for my palate. All of the deserts are beautiful and the service is always good. The decor is pretty and pastel, which I love. Most weekends this location is super busy so if you want a more laid back option, try the Magazine st. location. Both locations are great!
google avatar

Yelp
Cute dessert shop on royal street!! The inside is super aesthetic with some seating! It wasn't too busy when we visited, and the employees were super friendly and warm! Ordered a strawberry cupcake, which was rich and tasty. They also had gelato and drinks! The facility was very clean too. Although the prices are quite high, it's a great place for some dessert!

Yelp
We stumbled out of the Carousel Bar across the street looking for our next place to go and that's when we found this cute little bakery in the French Quarter. I wanted to make a quick stop in and had to wait about 20 minutes to order but I'd say it was worth it. I ordered two macarons- salted caramel and cafe au lait and was given the almond and cafe au lait flavors. I wasn't mad because the almond was really tasty and would've been my third choice but I wish I got to try to salted caramel. I didn't want to wait in line to have them correct it so I just dealt with it. It was still really yummy. I'd recommend Sucre to anyone looking for a sweet treat in the French Quarter. Next time, I would probably order one of the eclairs.
google avatar

Yelp
These desserts are good but overpriced - you're paying for the ambiance and sparkly appearance more than the flavor. It's a great spot for cute cafe Instagram pictures, and all their desserts are sparkly and fun to look at! We tried a red velvet cupcake and the pink lady. The cupcake was around $7 and was not worth it - the cake part was good but the frosting was meh. The pink lady was around $10 or $11 and was way better - definitely stick to this if you're just picking out one thing! It was filled with a panna cotta, jam, and some other kind of berry-esc foamy cream. I don't know that we would come back, but it was worth trying out!

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of patisseries, and after living in Paris for a month I'm very picky when it comes to the quality of petits gâteaux. I first saw Sucré on Magazine St. but didn't get a chance to try this location. The following day I visited the French Quarter, so I made it a priority to stop by Sucré on my way back to my hotel. We arrived around 2pm on a Thursday. The place wasn't busy at all, so the entire transaction was quick and easy. The two employees at the time were friendly and helpful. I ordered a vanilla éclair and the Sucré Fumé. I'm bummed that I have yet to find an éclair as good as the ones in Paris. I thought that the pâte à choux was too hard on the outside, and honestly it had the overall texture and taste of a chocolate yeast donut with Bavarian cream. Thank goodness the Sucré Fumé tasted better. I got the toasted marshmallow flavor, and I enjoyed the marshmallow center and silky chocolate mousse. The thing I didn't like about the dessert was the white chocolate topper, which did not break easily. When I tried to crack through it, the white chocolate would press down on the mousse and smush it out of shape, making mousse go everywhere.

Yelp
If you're seeking a delightful escape into dessert heaven, look no further. This bright and immaculate establishment offers a tantalizing array of treats that are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. From heavenly macarons to indulgent cupcakes, each bite is a symphony of flavor and texture. However, the real star of the show is the peanut butter crunch gelato - a creamy, nutty delight that is an absolute must-try.
google avatar

Yelp
I know what you're thinking... It's a chain in a very local place. Yep, that's true. But, if you're in the mood for a late night (or anytime really) dessert or cappuccino, it really is a great spot! Kayla was the sweetest employee. She was busy, but gave such personal attention to every single customer. Oh, and the desserts and gelato are amazing!
google avatar

Jasmine R.

Yelp
Great service and delicious bites. We came back twice during our visit to New Orleans.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Nice treats here -- particularly the brownie and the madeleines. Fresh and generously portioned. Feel the French influence.
google avatar

Immanuel L.

Yelp
The desserts at this place are amazing, but purchasing at the quarter just felt so expensive. I get it, they are little works of art. But holy Jesus save us from indulgence lol. Then I was a little bothered by the service as I was treated like I was annoying the person behind the counter, so maybe I won't be back at this location. Other location in magazine was better experience.
google avatar

Linnea E.

Yelp
meh. I'd give it mediocre at best. it's a cute shop, but that's about it. service is not particularly friendly. macarons tasted stale. nope, I'm not a fan.
google avatar

Yelp
Liked ^ Liked ^ Liked ^ Liked ^ Liked ^ Liked ^ Liked ^ Liked ^ Liked ^ Visually, this place is inviting. Disliked ! Disliked !Disliked!Disliked !Disliked !Disliked !Disliked !Disliked ! The desserts could have been better, just pretty. The cupcake was pretty dry. We didn't enjoy eating much here, which was a bummer because we were craving dessert. The dessert was quite expensive.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for cute patisseries. My friend and I stopped by because it was recommended and we shared a coffee gelato. They let you try the flavors before picking which is really nice. There's also a restroom, but you need to ask for the key code. One scoop of gelato will set you back about $7 - not too bad! They also have plenty of cakes, macarons, and other delicious treats. I wish I got to try more, maybe next time!
google avatar

Megan R.

Yelp
I am a sucker for a macaron shop, and they are hard to find! I was so happy to stumble onto this one! The most beautiful shop with even more beautiful desserts! The macarons were expensive - $28 for 8, but the more experience leaned higher end. I was surprised to see the beautiful presentation of the macarons upon purchase. The shop keeper was incredibly nice & the macarons were perfect!
google avatar

Ivette V.

Yelp
Stunning deserts! You dont want to wat them they are so incredibly beautifully done. They taste exactly the way they look, delicious and to die for!!! I was not let down at all by these little works of art on my plate. Each desert was done with such creativity, it was heartbreaking to eat. But then you are blown away how every flavor and texture play together in these delicate delights. The service is amazing, such friendly staff and the ambiance is perfect for that after sinner desert. I was not let down for one moment . A must!
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cute place to grab some great quality dessert and macaroons, my lovely fiance was able to snag me these on his way back to Texas and I was absolutely in love with the boxing and overall display of treats for me!! Can't wait for us to go back and enjoy them again!!
google avatar

Kim K.

Yelp
Cute shop in the French Quarter. Lots of treats available but we went for the gelato. There were lots of flavors (sadly only dairy free was the sorbet). This place is super clean with lots of seating which is hard to find in the area so was a nice stop as we walked along. Service was quick.
google avatar

Joan M.

Yelp
Sucrė located in the French Quarter is just a sublime treat. This patisserie has some of the most scrumptious delectable treats ever. The selection is small but the quality amazing. They also have a great gelato selection but we opted for the glittery cakes. The staff were friendly and very helpful with us when we were trying to decide what to have. They also serve great coffee. We sat inside to imbibe and relax away from the hustle and phrenetic of Bourbon St. A relaxing super cool sweet shop not to be missed!
google avatar

Jon K.

Yelp
Nothing beats a deliciously cold treat after spending the morning walking about in 95degree heat with matching humidity. We stopped into Sucre for a delightful frozen treat and to chill out in the a/c. Helpful and friendly service, bountiful selection of gelato and sweet treats will never disappoint.

Yelp
My husband tracked his way to this place, and boy did they do a good job giving a high class vibe. My husband picked out the raspberry bomb, the berry fizz, banana cheesecake and brownie layered bar. He tooks his first bite of the bomb, had to stop and yake a picture to remember the delicious day. We are saving the other two for tomorrow. (Probably later tonight to be realistic). It was creamy, light, not too sweet.. and the textures of the bomb worked good togather. The berry fiz was basically an italian soda, and it was good. I got thr matcha fizz not knowing what it was, and ended up tasting like a good italian soda with matcha. Interrstint flavor, but in a good way! Really recommend this place, we would totally come again

Yelp
I needed some dessert to end my vacation to New Orleans and happened to stumble upon Sucré when wandering the French Quarter. It's an elegant little spot on Royal with some fancy little treats. This place has some gorgeous sweets. They have an array of macarons, desserts, and gelato. My boyfriend wanted a plain vanilla milkshake, and he rated it a 10 out of 10. We also tried a few of the macarons. Almond was my favorite. Sweet but not too strong. The raspberry white chocolate mouse was the winner for me though. It's probably the prettiest dessert I have ever cut into. It was sweet and balanced. I ate every last bite. The staff was friendly and got us served in a timely manner considering they were relatively busy. This was a splurge that was well worth it.
google avatar

Cindy B.

Yelp
Just happened by this cute little spot on our way home from dinner and my sweet tooth and love of macarons pushed me inside. Boy am I glad we did! Everything was so beautiful it was really hard not to just get one of each but in the end I went with several macarons. They were among the best I have ever had. Not too sweet, perfectly crumbly. Just the right amount of filling and you could truly identify the flavors. Hate how it's just a few blocks from the hotel making it ever so convenient to go back...
google avatar

Darla M.

Yelp
Sucre is a fun but simplistic place to sit and visit. This upscale sweets shop isn't packed with lots of variety, but each treat was packed with flavor! The accent of the cashier was hard to understand, so we had a hard time communicating.
google avatar

Rach G.

Yelp
Adorable restaurant with delicious desserts! I love all the moss, the pink, and the pattern on the tile floor. Definitely insta- worthy! The blueberry muffin was to die for and now I have a goal of learning to make them that way! The confetti gelato was so good. Super cute with wonderful desserts!!
google avatar

Changsong Q.

Yelp
The tipping culture in the US is out of control. Just because we bought a cupcake and left without tipping, two employees were openly talking about it in front of customers. This is unacceptable.
google avatar

Nina L.

Yelp
Still love the staff here but the macarons aren't as good as I remember. They look pretty but the shells could be fuller. Most of the flavor comes from the filling which is good but a little overwhelming. Tried the salted caramel and blackberry citrus this time.

Michael L.

Yelp
Stunning little bright bakery and gelato shop with excellent service. It was open later than expected & had 2 staff members on site. The cupcakes, cakes, macrons, and gelato were all pitch perfect looking. My daughter and I opted for the gelatos due to the time. Traditional nut gelatos like many Italian gelato shops have are available as well as more "ice cream" standard flavors. There was also sorbet. Even the decor is beautiful. Picture frame windows, moss installations and cute flooring. Really do not skip it.
google avatar

Crystal P.

Yelp
I've been to the location on magazine street so when in the area I was like let's go stop by here! Delicious hot cocoa and my cookie I had the next day was delicious too. Just picked up to go but it's adorable inside. Service was good.
google avatar

Dianna S.

Yelp
Such a fun, cute, little pastry shop! Came to New Orleans to celebrate my brother's 30th birthday and this place did not disappoint! All the desserts are fresh and the cream is made to perfection! Fast service and everyone was kind. The desserts here are not overly sweet and the flavors complement each other well. Definitely put this place on your list if you have a sweet tooth or love to try new desserts in new places!
google avatar

Helene S.

Yelp
Craving a sweet treat? Sucre is the perfect place to indulge your sweet tooth. Pastries, cakes, cupcakes, macarons. So many delicious choices. Several locations are available. Stop by for a special taste of Paris in the French Quarter (or on Magazine Street).
google avatar

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
OMG the almond petit fours. Please deliver them nationwide! So so very delicious!! The pistachio macaroon was also mouthwatering. The triple chocolate Gelato was the strongest tasting chocolate I have had in ice cream. Great service although it was packed. I could not live near one of these. Good Lord it's good
google avatar

Kamal S.

Yelp
We were drawn to the shop by the pretty window looking into the store. The shop is inviting with its aesthetic interior decor and arrangement of sweets. They have a variety of ice cream, macarons, cupcakes, and a cheesecake, all absolutely gorgeous! We had the glittery cheesecake which was so good! Would recommend sharing it since it was super sweet, even for my sweet tooth. It's a small donut shaped cake, and we could eat only half of it. Overall, I'd stop by again if I'm in the area, but perhaps try a smaller dessert.
google avatar

William L.

Yelp
We stayed in NOLA for three nights and Sucré was a nightly sojourn! The desserts were beautifully created and delicious as well. The cafe looked and felt like a European shop with attentive staff. If you like to eat artwork, this is your stop!

Megan T.

Yelp
10/10! Everyone here was so sweet. It was pouring outside and they were very accommodating. The music was so calming and the food was so hard to eat it was so beautiful! Absolutely delish
google avatar

Stacy S.

Yelp
A cute shop with delicious macarons ... service was good - we got our order to go, so we can't speak much to what it's like to stay there
google avatar

WaNesha J.

Yelp
It's the aesthetics you'd expect from a cute sweet boutique. The soft pink pastel and pretty pastries was giving the eat with your eyes vibe. There were colorful macarons, glossy mirror glazed patisserie's, unique blended ice creams, and crafted drinks. We ordered several things all delicious, layered, creamy, and balanced. The staff was also very accommodating and eager to offer suggestions.
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
Hit this place late and it was quite nice. The brown butter pecan gelato cones were outstanding. The place is cute. I wish they had said don't order an eclair at this hour because it was stale and tasted like saw dust. My only complaint. They are open late which is great but honestly say some next time.
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
Gelato was delicious. Fresh and rich in flavor. I got the peanut butter and my husband the bourbon pecan. Both were fantastic. We grabbed 2 macaroons as well. Macaroons were the freshest I've ever had. We will be back!
google avatar

Reese M.

Yelp
Sucré has got to be the most adorable dessert cafe ever. The decor, presentation of desserts & treats, and customer service were all top notch. It is definitely worth a visit when in NOLA! I ordered the macaroons and they were almost too pretty to eat. I brought some home to gift to my loved ones. I regret not trying the gelato or coffee, but now I have a reason to return. Au revoir :)
google avatar

Maya D.

Yelp
Who gave you permission to make such melt in your mouth macarons Sucré? I had a pistachio one that just warms my heart thinking about it. I'm not a coffee drinker but their latte was so good. I'm grateful I could get a slice of king cake served warm! Pretty standard flavor, nothing special. We also had a slice of their cake, can't remember which kind, some Snickerdoodle something or other. It was pretty good although I feel like it needs something else because all of the flavors kind of mesh together and don't stand out apart from each other. Every layer of flavor kinda tastes the same. It needs to be lifted some way. But the texture and taste was very good... Well executed.
google avatar

Veronica Z.

Yelp
This place is incredibly cute and clean. The prices are high but reasonably so it's high class French bakery. They also have ice cream and sorbets as well. We had the Oreo cupcake which was delicious. The service was great the employees were very kind
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cute little dessert place. So pretty inside, nice service and good desserts. Check it out!
