Tour the Sacramento Area’s Best Breweries With Rob Archie of Pangaea Bier Cafe | Eater SF

"Not far from UC Davis, Sudwerk Brewing (pronounced sood-verk) is one of the oldest area breweries specializing in lagers and pilsners and, in my view, has endured remarkably — winning Great American Beer Festival brewery of the year in 2021 — while continuing German-rooted recipes started by founders Ron Broward and Dean Unger. Under Trent Yackzan (who bought the brewery in 2013) and partner Ryan Fry they keep producing clean, refreshing beers like the People’s Pilsner brewed with Hallertauer and Tettnang and a malty but not sweet Märzen Amber; on a sunny day the lively outdoor patio filled with students and locals is exactly the place to enjoy a pilsner and the sliders made from beef raised on the brewery’s spent grain and reared at UC Davis." - Lou Bustamante

Longstanding brewery located in the Old East Davis area. Wide selection of beers on tap and in bottles, and a decent food menu as well. The fries are addictively good, but the Reuben is a must-try! Sizable outdoor patio, as well as a big interior with a game room as well. Fast and efficient service. Large free parking lot, but a funky layout and a couple of funky exits/entrances.

Update: Been back a few times since my review; Added more photos. Food and service are always consistent. Original: I’ve been coming to Sudwerks pretty much my entire life and have seen the various transformations from restaurant to more casual beer pub. I’m not sure where the negative reviews come from since they reopened, but they aren’t warranted. The staff are friendly, food is on point, and they have some good beers. The Overgrowth Double IPA is SOOO good. Wow. One of my favorite IPAs of late. The burgers, fried chicken sandwich and pretzels are bomb. Fries are good too. Smoked wings are really good! There’s plenty of patio space and it’s totally kid and dog friendly. Would definitely recommend it. The ordering process can be impersonal, but if you just take it as a brewery and not full fledged restaurant, then it’s fine. Tipping culture has gotten out of hand and I’ve trained myself to just tip for good service, and not as a standard for a non waiter type of service. BUT..you can order beer tasters via the QR code, so that’s cool. And they serve them quick. However, you can’t order food with the QR codes which is disjuncted The other thing I’d knock them for is they could have other options on the food menu. Maybe some more sandwich options? Like a BLT, Roasted Turkey sandwich, Wraps etc. My wife struggled with what to get (ended up on the fried chicken sandwich), and would have liked some lighter fare - which wasn’t a salad.

Outdoor casual beer brewing house with live band on the weekends evenings. Beer are very good. Snacks are on the spicy side. Excellent gathering place with friends.

Happened to pop while visiting UC Davis. Generally, like going to pubs and breweries and came across the place on maps. Pretty easy to get to as it’s off a main street (2nd St.) although I happened to drive in through the back entrance, per google directions, which I would not recommend as it’s an unpaved roadway. Initial impressions were a little underwhelming from the parking lot but once inside the open-air area it was really nice and truly welcoming! The inner sitting area and bar are also very nice and definitely looked like a great place to hang out and have a few brews. All the staff were awesome, very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, since I was driving, I could not sample the beers on this trip which was a bummer. The food which looked very nice was not that tasty, we sampled multiple dishes. Fries were very good but would not come here for just the food. It was presented very well though. The outer open area is where we sat, it was really inviting and well laid out, it is very family friendly. There were a lot of small kids & parents. There was plenty of seating and sunshades as well as water vapor cooling mist. There were fire pits too - really awesome! They were setting up for a band. Additionally, the restrooms were also exceptionally clean. I’m going to come back and try the beers. I did like my overall experience, just the food did not live up to what I was expecting but I still think overall this is a good place in Davis to visit, really a very nice vibe. I really wanted to try the beers! Will update on my next visit!

Google
I've been here a couple of times and really like it. They have very tasty beers of a variety of types (peach optimo sour was delicious and a true sour lover's sour). I really liked the cheesesteak! It had a great kick to it and was so flavorful. The service was great and the patio was comfortable, even when it was 92 degrees out, thanks to the misters. If you are in Davis and like beer and/or food delivered with good vibes, I heartily recommend it!

Google
Came for the cherry blossom festival and had to try the Asian fusion fries. It was a great choice. Beer is always good. Their food has changed to more of bar style food than restaurant style. Was good because that was what I was in the mood for.

Google
First time going since the remodel and I have to say that “I love what they did to the place”. Lots of outdoor seating, family friendly and a fresh look. They have a game room if the kiddos get bored and games outside like a large connect four. Service was great. Very friendly and super helpful wait staff. They use local companies like Village Bakery to source their ingredients. Menu has seasonal items which is great. They have a different menu for weekends brunch hours. We had a party of six. We did make reservations because it can be quite busy on a Friday evening. I had the French onion soup and the little gem salad. Both were delicious! I highly recommend the Brussel sprouts and Jalapeño and artichoke dip. Still have great beers and a regular bar to serve as well. Grab your favorite beer to take home in cans. In the summer they have music outside and seating at the dock. I recommend Sudwerks if you haven’t been since the remodel or if it’s your first time.

Google
I had lunch here and it was delicious! I had the Fish and chips with a cool beer. I believe the fish was Salmon sitting in the middle of guacamole dip sauce. It was so delicious I wish there was a larger portion. The chips were those thick crunchy type. The beer was tasty, I just don't remember the name. They have so many beers to pick from. They have your hard drinks and wines too. The bathrooms were very clean. Parking lot is big with some of the spaces shaded with an overpass.

Yelp
Sudwerk Brewing is such a gem in Davis. There's plenty of parking, which already makes the visit stress-free. When you walk in, you can either grab a seat at the bar or order at the front counter -- they'll give you a number and bring everything right to your table. Super easy. The space itself is awesome -- tons of seating both inside and outside, with a variety of options like around a fire pit or picnic table style. They even have an arcade room, which seemed pretty busy. It definitely has family-friendly vibes -- when I was there, it looked like a whole youth soccer team was celebrating after a game. Food-wise, everything we tried was great. They have gluten-free options, including amazing flatbreads that don't taste "gluten-free" at all, and the Reuben sandwich was seriously one of the best I've had in a while. The menu said the Reuben had been featured on The Food Network! And of course, you can't forget the beer -- tons of options, from crisp lagers to creative seasonals, all brewed on-site. I had a flight so I could try four different beers. They also have wine, spirits, and other non-alcoholic options including mocktails! Overall, Sudwerk is the kind of place you can come to relax, hang out, grab a bite, and enjoy a great beer -- whether you're with family, friends, or flying solo at the bar. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Visited on a Sunday afternoon and the place was very quiet, but seemed like they were gearing up for a large party or event. The short version of my review is as follows: Facility: Dated. (Looks old and worn out. Needs refreshing.) Service: Marginal (Under staffed, some friendly, some indifferent.) Beer: Average. (A confusing mash up of flavor profiles/styles.) Food: Mediocre. (Nothing really stands out. Can get it anywhere.) The details are as follows: The brewery/restaurant is located across from some train tracks and adjacent to an overpass. It has a massive parking lot and consists of a large building with interior table and bar seating, as well as an expansive patio seating with picnic tables and Adirondack chairs. The patio also has a stage to one side and a small area with kids and/or adult toys. To order food or drinks, you get in a line that has paper menus (that were stained and crumpled) on a table next to the bar, and then place your order at what looks like a host/hostess stand. Your order is delivered to your table according to the number you are given on a table flag. Seating is self serve. After about 15 minutes, I went inside to ask about the flight of beers we had ordered and thought maybe I was suppose to pick those up before we were seated. The female bartender said in snide tone, that they were under staffed and it was taking longer, but would be delivered soon. About another 5-10 minuted later, the beer flight arrived, with the food order that followed about 15 minutes after the beer. 20 minutes to get some beers when they are not busy is not good. I would have preferred sipping on a beer while I waited for the food. The beers we tasted in the flight were good, but not distinctive in style or unique in flavor and aroma. To me, the best example of what they did right was the Märzen. Everything else was either bland tasting or hopped in a fashion that creates off flavors, aromas and bitterness. As for the food, it was what you can get at just about any pub/brewery. The patty melt was way over cooked and the pastrami was dry and funky. I really wanted to like this place, but it seems like they are just getting by on mediocrity.

Yelp
Have been to Sudwerk a few times for work events. Always a positive experience. Parking is plentiful (although there is a rush during the week around 5:30p). Order food at the front station, pick a number, pick a seat. Drinks can be ordered at the bar or at the front station. They have self serve water, utensils and condiments in a couple of spaces. Overall, large seating areas inside and out, a few gaming stations (think pinball). Food items (which do rotate) Spicy chicken sandwich: 4.2/5 - more of a Thai heat style, which dark meat chicken - pretty tasty, although I felt like it was too much bun for the sandwich. - fries were solid Large pretzel: 4.7/5 - good if you are into the soft pretzels. Stone ground mustard was a nice touch Good brews on tap, happy hour, quick service, pleasant staff. Check em out!

Yelp
If you're looking for a place with good food, music, and service, Sudwerk Brewing is the place for you. I ordered the Truffle Garlic Fries with a Hefeweizen Beer and boy a what a great pairing! Highly recommend.

Yelp
The food was amazing compliments to the chef's and the brewery beer was amazing as well thanks to the great service and which brew to try . I got the dark dark beer it was delicious . Had the loaded fries that went perfectly with the beer. The band wet n wreckless was playing and the vibes were so good . Music for every generation. Lots of different people all age groups and our furry family. This was the best time

Yelp
Love that the food is not just pub food. Salads are really fresh and large. The pretzel appetizer with cheese is so buttery and good. I wasn't a fan of the ruben but mainly because I really like sauerkraut and it hardly had any. Also the meat was dry and stringy. The spicy chicken sandwich was also a hit. I loved my side pour Pilsner too. Fun place to watch the game. Inside or out.
google avatar

Yelp
The service, food, and drinks were all excellent! They offered a spicy vegan tofu dish with a fresh salad and vegan ciabatta bread. They also offer vegan mushroom sliders. We also enjoyed a mimosa and a non-alcoholic beer. The bartender and server were super friendly. This place is kid-friendly too and they even have a giant Connect Four game outside. Great atmosphere!

Yelp
I truly think that this is the MOST incredible venue to have any sort of formal function. The food, the customer service, the price, the accommodations, and the sheer pleasure of being so welcomed goes above and beyond anything we could have asked for. My family and I rented the private brewery hall for my graduation reception this past Wednesday evening and oh my goodness - we were blown away by everything. The catering menu is incredible, with several accommodations for both vegetarian and vegan guests as well as wonderful cooked fresh and high-quality dishes and ingredients. Everything from tables, chairs, projector, speakers, and the furniture all offered in the space were wonderful. Parking was abundant and overall atmosphere was pleasant, light, and friendly. Needless to say- THIS IS THE PLACE you have been looking for. To Ted and Elsa - THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING, we had an AMAZINGLY time!

Yelp
Amazing place. Easily our favorite spot in town. The beer is consistently outstanding, the food is great, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. Ryan, the owner, always goes above and beyond to make sure everyone has a great experience. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Atmosphere was really nice. Great spot for families. Tons of space inside and outside. We came on Father's Day. Made a reservation for when they opened and there were a handful of people, but the restaurant is pretty large that it wasn't necessary. It is a little confusing when you walk up because it looks like a host station, but there are menus at the bar and you order at the host station, then seat yourself. So we stood around waiting until not realizing we needed to prepare our order. Brunch options were pretty good. Good portions were crazy huge! Easily could have shared a breakfast burrito. Each half was like a decent sized burrito and came with fries. The cheese sauce it came with was bland. The eggs and potatoes inside the burrito could have definitely used more seasoning. I do t think there was any salt. I wish instead of the cheese sauce they would have added some sort of salsa or chipotle aioli. The chorizo burrito had a little more flavor than the bacon/ sausage burrito. I also found it odd the their Togo beer fridge was practically empty. Surprising with it being Father's Day. Overall I would give it another shot. We did really like the outdoor setup and was kid friendly. Good sized portions. Just request extra sauces with your food

Yelp
Hadn't been to Sudwerk in a while and had some friends visiting and since the restaurant is open we could have more options for lunch. Plenty of parking for the brewery. There are plenty of tables inside and outside and you order at a front desk which took a little longer than being able to order from your table and there was a long line out the door. They offer a good selection of beers and the food came out pretty quickly. The restrooms are in the back away from the main area and there was an area for a band for live music.
google avatar

Kristina M.

Yelp
I like to come here with my coworkers after work to enjoy drinks and bites. They have a easy system of ordering through a QR code, having a server, bring you your items, and then paying right through on your phone. Another option is just to go to the front place an order and you're given a number and then you sit and get your items. I've tried both ways and find it easy and customer friendly. I love that you can sit indoors or outdoors. Either way is comfortable and cozy. There's plenty of parking. The bathrooms are really clean. I do like the selection of drinks offered. I also love ordering the pretzel, all the other bites are really delicious. Overall I recommend that you check this place out.

Yelp

Yelp
Had a great time for a quick beer and a bite with a couple appetizers. The staff here is always amazing and welcoming from the very start. I love their patience in helping me select the perfect beer. I LOVE LOVE the hoppy beer - ordered an Overgrowth West Coast DIPA. But usually I get a UC Davis Gunrock IPA. The DIPA is higher alcohol so the serving is a bit smaller. The Gunrock is 16oz. We also shared a giant pretzel and the artichoke jalapeño dip. The restaurant has such a nice vibe. They sometimes have live music so check their calendar. Outside there are lots of tables and fire pits and heaters - but on a night like tonight it was still too cold to for us hang out under the stars. There was people bundled up out there though. (When the weather warms up I really like this patio.) Be ready for the kids to ask for quarters because there are pinballs and a small games area. And if you are ever looking for a room to rent or tables to reserve for a party or group be sure to ask here! They have great service and good food!
google avatar

Ss S.

Yelp
I've been here 3x and the service is friendly, quick and accommodating. There's a huge indoor area and the outdoor area is misted so good for the summer and has games for kids to play. The beers are pretty good. Each time they have run out of IPAs except will have a couple left. The banh mi fries are !!!! The accommodated us watching the 9er game so thank you for that.

Yelp
Stopped in today on our way to Napa. It was surprisingly busy for late afternoon but the service was still speedy. There were a lot of reserved tables and dirty tables which made it difficult to find a spot to sit. The food was good! They were out of a few things, but we were able to pick from other options.
google avatar

Yelp
We had a wonderful time at the Sakura Festival, but unfortunately, the experience was soured by the service at the brewery bar. On two separate occasions, I was noticeably overlooked by the bartender, Adrian. The first time, I waited patiently while he ignored me, and it was only after his colleague--who appeared both aware and apologetic--stepped in that I was served. The second instance was even more blatant. Despite arriving earlier than others, Adrian went out of his way to serve customers who came after me, bypassing me entirely. I eventually had to ask him directly why I was being ignored. As someone with experience in the service industry, I know how aware bartenders are of their surroundings. His actions felt intentional. Black folks drink too. And we tip!

Yuto M.

Yelp
I came here a while ago with some friends and sat at the bar. We all ordered drinks and the male bartender said my ID was fake and it wasn't. He double checked with his manager and confirmed it was real. I get this part but then he Then he just tosses my ID back on the table. The entire time he ignores me and to the point where I have to ask my friend next to me to order for me. He was super rude the entire time and I read a similar review about him.
google avatar

Kim G.

Yelp
Stopped foe a draft on our way home, had a couple. Great beer and vibe here. Woulda ordered a pretzel but for $17? Don't think so.
google avatar

Catherine M.

Yelp
A great place to eat outside as the weather gets warmer! Plenty of shade, water misting, and super dog friendly. My friend and I got fried chicken sandwiches and shared a pretzel. Portions are big and very filling, and they both tasted good. The staff are all very helpful and nice too!
google avatar

Yelp
Our family had a fun early evening at Sudwerk. It started with great service at the small ordering station. The person working there was super helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our beers, and the food was great. The kids liked their food, and we loved the garlic fries. We sat outside with our number, and folks brought out our drinks and food promptly. The kids played for a bit in the arcade while we waited for food, and our dog chilled with us in the misters outside. We left before the live music started. Perfectly spot if you're staying at a nearby hotel, would 100% go back.
google avatar

Christine G.

Yelp
The food was fabulous, super fresh! My sister and I sat outside, as it was a beautiful day. The day we went there was no service offered, so we ordered from the cashier/hostess. They have a full bar, inside and outside, pet friendly. The Ambiance? Well, it was lovely...we are in Northern California, and it was 78 degrees !! I would definitely go there again, and recommend this establishment to friends and family!
google avatar

Derek N.

Yelp
Hey now! Finally made it out to the new area and loved it! The beer of of course great, the staff is awesome and attentive for a Friday afternoon! Happy campers! We reserved the HUGE firepit and it was just perfect ambience!
google avatar

Yelp
I think Sudwerk is a perfect example of what breweries should be! Great food, outside seating with misters, amazing beers, and a fun atmosphere! We have been here twice and always bring a +1 to experience Sudwerk's greatness. Their pretzel is S tier. They also have a fun little arcade as well. Staff is friendly and can offer advice if you can't decide what to get.

Yelp
A great find on the east side of downtown Davis. Tons of space indoors and outdoors you're likely to feel comfortable no matter how large your group is. Although the brews are impressive, I found expertly crafted artisan cocktails and elevated food offerings to be the star of the show. Classic and signature martinis and an array of neat pours will satisfy any palate. If you don't see it on the menu, just ask. They know how. The food was also excellent and definitely better than I was expecting for a brew pub. The classic cheeseburger, french dip, and pesto deviled eggs I highly recommend. Service at the bar was very good and attentive. Looking forward to another visit to explore the menu more.

Yelp
First time visiting this place for Trivia night with a large college group. We had 3 teams and had a great time with great vibes in the place. There was enough space in the beer hall, service was quick but you have to order once you arrive in the front and take a number for servers to find you. The beer flight was good with a nice variety. They ran out of wings so I got the brat which was yummy, my friends loved the burgers, Brussels sprouts and truffle garlic fries. The music was excellent and trivia guy was hilarious. Def recommend visiting Wed nights!

Yelp
We recently hosted our wedding cocktail hour at Sudwerk Brewing Co. in Davis, and it turned out to be a great experience. Even though we pulled things together fairly last minute, the Sudwerk team made the process smooth and easy. The service really stood out. From the first call to the day of the event, the staff were friendly, responsive, and flexible. They handled details without making us feel stressed and were always quick to help with whatever we needed. On the night itself, servers checked in regularly and kept food and drinks moving so we didn't have to worry about anything. The beer hall was a perfect setting for our group. It has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that felt just right for a wedding cocktail hour--casual but still special. Our guests enjoyed the space, and it gave everyone plenty of room to mingle comfortably. The food was tasty and well-received across the board. It was the kind of menu that works well for a group: flavorful, shareable, and filling without being too heavy. Combined with their beers--always a highlight at Sudwerk--it made for a spread that people genuinely enjoyed. Guests are still mentioning how good the drinks and appetizers were. What we appreciated most was how smoothly everything came together. Weddings can be hectic, and with such short notice we weren't sure what to expect. But the Sudwerk staff kept things on track, handled the logistics, and gave us peace of mind so we could focus on being with our friends and family. We left feeling very grateful to have chosen a local Davis spot that combines good food, good drinks, and good people. Sudwerk has a reputation as a community staple, and after our event it's easy to see why. If you're looking for a place to host an event, or just want to enjoy a laid-back meal and a beer, Sudwerk is a solid choice. They did a wonderful job for our wedding cocktail hour, and we'd happily recommend them to anyone planning a celebration in town.

Yelp
Wasn't sure if we would like the burger based on other photos online, so we decided to do our own research. It was a chilly day so we didn't get to take advantage of the extensive patio, but we didn't enjoy sitting at the bar, talking to the bartender, sharing some food and drinks. As you can see from the picture, the burger was juicy, cooked right, loaded with toppings, served on a fresh bun. We also enjoyed the beers, their Pilsner of course, one of their Belgian styles, their kolsch and as a surprise, their black kolsch. Looking forward to coming back again soon

Yelp
We had dinner and beers here when dropping my son off at UC Davis. Nice atmosphere and good beer and food was good as well. The ordering process is pretty weird - you have to order at the checkin counter then get a sign with a number for the table and they bring the food to you - you can also order from QR code at the table and then you pay on the way out. It's awkward and confusing but it's OK I guess...prefer they lose that but overall the food beer and environment are worth the minor quibble.
google avatar

Joseph T.

Yelp
We finally tried Sudwerk Brewing after many years of seeing the sign off 80. I'm glad we did! The Chorizo Benny was delicious! What a great twist on the original Eggs Benedict. We also enjoyed the deviled eggs. Beware, on order is one egg cut in half. If you sit at the bar, you can order with the bartender. If you sit on the patio, you have to place your oder at the kiosk at the front. Good eats, good service and we'll return!
google avatar

Amanda T.

Yelp
Given that they have a nice patio area to seat, it would be a great option for a date or group outing. However, the food here isn't that good...it was average in my opinion. The price was also high given the quality of the food.
google avatar

Anthony V.

Yelp
Bartender was awesome and she was the best part about our experience. Ordered appetizers and early dinner at the register and asked like 10 times if the appetizers would come first. They got annoyed I asked so many times, but you know the appetizers still came with entrees. $200 dollar price tag for: 1/5 - burger that needed anything to make it good 1/5 cheesesteak sandwich that had too much spice and no real flavor 3/5 citrus salad 1/5 for the 3oz of cold garlic fries that cost $12 bucks 2/5 fried artichokes that came with soggy batter Stand by my review from when they revamped - come for the service and beer. Avoid the food.

Yelp
Haven't been here in years. It was closed for a long time so it's nice to see it open again. Sat at the bar facing the open windows on a nice night. A local live band was playing and the patio was filled with happy people. So... great for ambiance. The service was friendly and quick. Another plus. The food was good, not great. Had their Reuben sandwich which was apparently featured on DDD. It was underseasoned but nicely cooked and served on good bread (with melted cheese on the crust). Served w fries which were good. So overall a solid 4 stars. Definitely worth a try. Especially on a nice night.

Joshua M.

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed the mushroom burger, although I thought it could have used a little spice to it. The texture and mushrooms were fantastic, fries were also very good. I was able to try some of my friends Brussels sprouts and they're very fatty but incredibly delicious as well. I'd recommend this place to stop by since the food and beer is very good. The ambiance is just college vibe, but clean enough to enjoy. The service is also what you get from a college town, the wait for food was reasonable. Good spot to take colleagues.

Yelp
11/16/24 Never went here while I was a student at UCD, but went for the first time with a friend to check out a band playing until 10pm. There was no signage on where the band was playing so we assumed they were not there and grabbed food and drinks while seated at the bar. We went on a Saturday night and no one was at the front to take orders. We had to go to the bar to place our order. Keep in mind that this is right after a UCD football game so I would assume someone would be taking orders up front as the place was busy. I didn't realize the kitchen closes at 9, so I lucked out on grabbing food at 8:45. They were out of the artichokes and shishitos, so went with the jalapeño artichoke dip. I liked it. As me and my friend were chatting with drinks, he asked the bartender where the band was playing, and they were playing in a room past the bar area. We were able to catch about a half hour of the show since I had food, but it would've been nice to have signage on where the event room is. The service from the bartender was good and pleasant. Seating was abundant, both inside and the outside patio. There was also a small arcade area with several pinball machines. Hoping to return to try out other food and drinks from the menu.

Blake J.

Yelp
Love the big pretzel and the beer. We also get the fried brussels/artichokes often and it always hits. My only gripe is how bad the indoor seating is after the remodel. It feels like a cafeteria. We prefer outdoors or to belly up to the bar, but it isn't always an option.

Yelp
The brewery is very nice. There is plenty of room inside and out. The atmosphere is very chill but super nice. The outside area is great! They have cornhole, giant connect four, giant Jenga, ample seating with tables and a great size fire pit. The service was great, the beer was delicious and the food was good. We weren't too impressed with our dinners but they were good. The Brussel sprouts were a hit with our family and the kids cheeseburgers were perfect for the little guys. We really enjoyed our time here for dinner. We will for sure be coming back.

Yelp
We were visiting from out of town and Sudwerk was down the street from where we were staying. We both ordered the fried chicken sandwich which we unfortunately did not get a photo of because we got too excited. The chicken was so juicy and flavorful. One of the best chicken sandwiches we've had in a long time. The fries were also crispy and fresh. The drinks that we ordered were refreshing and delicious. You order up front with the host and then the food is delivered to your table. The vibe is low key and relaxing. They also have a patio with outdoor seating.

Yelp
We love stopping by Sudwerk when driving from the Bay back to Sacramento. The newly renovated space is beautiful as well. Great beers, variety of tasty menu items, and dog friendly patio. The outdoor space has some mesh screens strung across to offer some much-needed coverage from the sun. I hope they will also add some outdoor heaters now that the weather is cooling down! There are a few fire pits throughout the exterior, but not large enough to warm up the surrounding tables. My usual go-to is the hef, while my husband loves the festbier and the gunrock hazy ipa. Since reopening, they now also feature a full menu, which is terrific. I love the Caesar salad with the soft boiled egg and breadcrumbs. Chicken sandwich is also very tasty and crispy. We have also had the grilled fish and chips before, which was really well seasoned.

Yelp
love this place! im in weekly for trivia and love their drinks! strong and tasty and service is great as well. their food is okay, but their fried things are oily and not my favorite. vibes are great here, clean interior tables and outside tables and firepit are super cute too. would recommend their cocktails and sandwiches, but not the fried foods.

Yelp
You know me, when there's an outing, there's a new brewery to find! For this weekend trip to Davis, we found Sudwerk and were instantly interested. The ambiance was the right vibe, cool and calm but with a sense of life and joy, not overly loud and the crowd was well spread out. The food was a good surprise, especially the fish and chips. My kid was shocked at how much she preferred this to your standard deep fried fish. Do note that the fish is grilled, but the sauce and actual chips make the texture work! The watermelon salad, hands down one of the best I've ever had. The Oktoberfest was good but was hoping for a little more malt flavor. The service was quick and pretty easy as well. In all, very well rounded spot with a really cool aesthetic snd vibe.

Yelp
Enjoyed sampling Sudwerks appetizers. Loved trying new cocktails and all the apps I would order again.

Yelp
Sudwerk is a Davis staple. Great venue for live music and events. Their patio is unmatched in Davis. Staff is hardworking and friendly. Beer is awesome - try the Hefeweizen! Perfect spot to chill on the patio with a book as you enjoy a brew or three.

Yelp
My best friend got her PHD and we came here for dinner right after she graduated! Her mom rented out the back room! We had an amazing server I can't remember her name but she for sure went above and beyond!!!! The drinks were great and so was the food! I got the brisket Mac and cheese and it was delish! We got a bunch of apps for the table! If you are a beer lover (I'm not) I bet the beer is great! Next time in Davis come thru!

Yelp
Perfect ambiance for a graduation party, which is why I visited Sudwerk Brewing Co in Davis a few weeks ago. Huge parking lot nestled outside the brewery. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is door friendly and they they have water misters for those hot summer nights! Gotta commend the server for our party of 12. She was very patient and provided great food/drink recommendations. Good customer service! For a brewery, the food was quite tasty. Please refer to my food pics, but my personal favs were the Caesar salad and flank steak. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing experience eating here! Not only is this place absolutely beautiful, it is spacious and a great place to socialize and have a great time. There are loads of outdoor and indoor seating as well as many food and drink options. Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. This place is definitely worth a try if you haven't already.

Yelp
Plenty of seating space and they have a decent selection of beers. The food was good but not amazing, given the price. Same for the beer, it was pretty good but not amazing. When you order and pay at the front, it defaults to a 25% tip which seemed pretty high given the prices they are already charging. I'd come back if I was in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

Yelp
Food was good but really confusing where to sit and how to order. The menu was seasonal/ wasn't what was on the website and completely different than what we came for. Not sure we will be back

Yelp
The food is just adequate extremely over priced and took 50 minutes for two Reuben's and chicken wings service is non existent-- two events were happening on that Thursday evening poor planning lines don't flow and the staff could care less about any sense of customer satisfaction . they seemed annoyed. -- they could make more money on drinks if they actually had any staff that could take your order . it's basically order your food get your own water ( not cold) and pay 20 percent gratuaty ). I think not !! I said no way to a 28 dollar tip that was added . --eat before you go to any of the events there grab one beer then enjoy the event -- Don't eat there !! 24 dollars for a Reuben !!!! music was ok but waited so long for food that we left after 3 songs and they did not bus table they only collected empty drink glasses ! You can do so much better Sudwerks !!
