Best Affordable Los Angeles Restaurants to Eat at for Under $25 This Summer | Eater LA

"Deep in a Torrance strip mall, a somewhat cranky Taiwanese chef cranks out huge portions of flavorful Sichuan at startling speed—point at the menu if you don’t speak Mandarin and the dishes will land quickly. Take Dylan Ho’s advice and skip the cold apps for beef noodle soup; my spread of numbing mapo tofu, boiled pork-and-chive dumplings, shrimp fried rice, and dan dan noodles (about $11–$12 each) delivered juicy, hefty dumplings and nutty noodles buzzing with Sichuan peppercorns, the heat cooled only by rough-julienned cucumbers. Expect MSG, dried chiles, and minimal frills—even wok-fried bok choy gets the treatment—and plan on leftovers and maybe a sweet boba afterward to wash down all that salt, umami, and spice. Must-try dishes: mapo tofu, dan dan noodles, shrimp fried rice." - Rebecca Roland

Google
Hands down the most authentic, the best beef noodle house in all of Torrance and within 5 miles radius. The price they charge has been and still is amazing in today's economy in 2024 and I come here everyday for their beef noodle soup. Other places would easily charge the same beef noodle soup for 18 dollars a bowl. Like the other reviews said, the restuarant is pretty bare bone and has no decoration, holes to the walls but in my opinion is a plus unironically. Because I'm here to eat good noodles and not here to pay for them to put up fancy decorations. I recommend ordering beef noodle soup with wide noodles instead of regular thin noodles, wide noodles just taste better for me and feels better to chew on. I also recommend their Szechwan Style Cold Noodles. Sweet, a bit sour and packs lots of heat. You can't really find this dish anywhere else closeby.

Beef noodles soup, broth ok. But tofu skin too hard.

Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - ordered a Chinese Style Beef Burrito (#27), Chinese Cold Dish 3 Items Meat (#38), and a Clear Broth Braised Tendon Noodle Soup (#2). The beef burrito was crispy on the edges and filled to the brim with beef. The cold dishes were marinated well but heavy on the cilantro for the seaweed salad. The beef tendon soup was great in flavor but slightly spicy even though we asked for a clear broth. Service: 5/5 - expect Chinese restaurant service that is quite to the point but quick Ambiance: 5/5 - small shop but the tables were clean Value for price: 5/5 - food was great, pricing is competitive, but they do round some of the pricing with tax. Their menu shrank but the main items are delicious, and we appreciate the focus on their main items instead. The quality is much better this time and we enjoyed all of the food. --------------------------------- December 5, 2022 Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - unfortunately I feel like their quality has dropped over the years and the soup/sides have become very oily. This used to be our go to place for the last 2 decades but we have frequented it less since it's not always consistent (1) Hot Braised Stew Tendon became a beef and tendon soup rather than just tendon. The noodles and protein was great but the soup was mostly chili oil taste rather than a beef stew flavor. (4) Clear Broth Braised Beef Noodle Soup was good but again, didn't taste much of a beef stew. The beef was tender and soft and the noodles were starting to absorb the flavor of the soup but there was something off about the flavor that didn't feel like a "beef" soup. (66) 2 Meat & 1 Veggie Cold Dish of spicy beef stomach, shredded pork ear, and seaweed. Flavored nicely but all three dishes were really oily and become slighty quesy as we ate through our meal Ambience: 2/5 - while it is a hole in the wall place, there seems to be a lack of upkeep as it feels like the place is becoming more dingy every time we go. While it seems like they wipe the table after each customer, it felt sticky when we sat down. Service: 1/5 - he was very dismissive of us and was annoyed that we didn't know what we wanted the moment we sat down. He was sitting behind the counter watching videos on his phone and you have to walk up to the counter to get anything else Value for price: 4/5 - the price is still reasonable but the quality of the food has gone down

Google
I thought we were the only ones who had problems with the service and the food. By looking at the reviews, there were many of the complains already. If we looked at these reviews before we went to this restaurant, we would never go there. Well, we had the same issue. The service was very bad. I think the guy served us having a very bad temper. We had serious stomach problems after we had lunch there. Never go back again!

Google
run down place, pork chop tasted sour, most of menu items couldn’t order since kitchen fan broken, scared to eat the food. also was empty on a Thursday evening.

Google
Got the beef noodle soup and the beef roll. Both tasted pretty legit and authentic. The soup was a little spicy for us but for most people it should be fine. We were very pleased to find that the meat was quite lean The beef roll dough is a bit special, they use scallion pancake dough which adds a little extra flavour. Total came to $19, which is an absolute steal for the pretty good portions and great flavour. Will be coming back for more.

Google
Very good beefy noodle soup. And the cold side dishes is a must try. Best in Torrance CA for sure

Google
I've known this place for a few years now. The food has always been pretty good and really affordable, although a little on the saltier side. It's really hard to find a place that has noodle soup at $6.60 price point. The portion is big, beef is very tender. I have to tell them to make it less salty beforehand for it to come out just right.

Yelp
This is one of the OG beef noodle place in the South Bay, I've been going since the 90s. It changed hands a few times since then. It can be a hit or a miss in the recent years. Last I went, about a year or so ago, the price went up but portion gone way down, so I haven't been in a while. Went yesterday for an early dinner, the portion is still relatively smaller than way back in the days. But decent for $12, you can't beat that price in the neighborhood, I wish they offer a larger size at a higher price. And based on what I had last night, I dare to say they are still the best beef noodle place in the South Bay!! Always go with extra spicy!! Still loving it!!

Yelp
A small, nondescript resto in a tired strip mall on Crenshaw, just north of Lomita. I was craving Chinese food and this was nearby. When we arrived, we were greeted by the proprietor. There were two other occupied tables occupied by old timers enjoying their lunch. We ordered to share: Spicy Beef Noodle Soup It was flavorful and not spicy for our palate. I wish it had tendon but we enjoyed it, nonetheless. Fish Fillet with Tofu This was SPICY! Loved it and would order this again. Onion pancakes Thin and crisp edges. Just as I like them! 3 cold dishes: cucumber, mustard greens and steamed peanuts. A great snack while we were waiting for the main event. You select the three items from the display. The greens were refreshing on this hot day in September. Hot Tea The tea was a typical tea you may get at any Chinese resto. As with those teas, it compliments and supports the food. We would visit this place again if we're in the area and it's lunch time. It's not a destination unless you happen to be craving something on their menu. I like these types of shops because once you order, the staff doesn't come around every 5 minutes to ask if you need anything. I was happy enjoying our food and having a Friday lunch break. Enjoy!

Yelp
This place puts its efforts into food, not ambiance or location. Do not be put off by its lackluster interior and strip mall location. We got takeout pork fried rice, Dan dan noodles, Choi gow soup dumplings, spicy beef soup dumplings, onion pancakes, sautéed cabbage, string beans with meat, and 2 orders of beef burritos. The highlight of the show was the delicious beef burrito. It was an onion pancake enveloping several thin tasty slices of beef. I would order just this for dinner it was so good. Service for takeout was fast and efficient.

Yelp
Sue's kitchen is a real hole in the wall. It's well known in the area for excellent Taiwanese food. It's tiny and appears to specialize in takeout. Easy parking in the strip mall. We ordered in person and the food was prepared for us in a timely fashion while we waited. We enjoyed our meal quite a bit and we would eat her again.

Yelp
Just as a heads up, you eat here for cheap, good Asian food. This is not the place for a nice, renovated, nor as clean of a place to hang out nor for stellar customer service. What you expect is cheap, great Asian food that's in the Torrance area. Also the chef barely speaks English so it'd be helpful if someone knows how to speak mandarin or barely get by. Amazing food, I love beef noodle soup & I got that tonight! I also ordered the green onion pancake & that was super yummy too. I will definitely come back, and brush up on some light Mandarin to order.

Yelp
This restaurant has gone downhill. I've been coming here for years. The price keep escalating and increasing. Its not worth it

Yelp
Great Taiwanese Beef Noodles and Chinese Burrito! Highly recommend ! Very authentic and legit.

Yelp
Over salted on from beef noodle soup to all the side dishes. Horrible. What and why? The only guess it's preservatives to keep food from spoiling.
google avatar

Kerri K.

Yelp
Authentic Chinese food. Always hits the spot! Service is fast and friendly. Ambience is pleasant and relaxing.

Yelp
Yummy hot beef noodle and pork chop rice. Prices are decent. They have canned coke and sprite. Place could be a tad more clean but ok overall.

Yelp
Zero stars, don't go! BUGS in food! (apologize in advance for the gross pictures and graphical description) We used to like this place a lot, it's the hole in the wall with the best noodles around. Food has always been tasty and service has always been lousy and getting even worse. In our last few visits, we have been very uncomfortable with the sticky table, it's just not very pleasant. Last night, we ate there and bought some rice noodles to go, since everything is light colored, black spots are much more noticeable, especially with the lighting at home, it turned out there were MANY bugs on the vegetables! Very very gross. We are not sure how much extra proteins we had from last night's dinner! We are never going back again!

Yelp
This place should rename themselves Bland AF Restaurant! ... What happened to this place??! Sadness, this use to be my favorite beef noodle place spot for over 2 decades! Now everything we ordered taste so bland. I felt like drinking hot greasy spicy hot water as their used to be so flavorful soup. After a few owner changed, very disappointed and sorry to say won't be back. I've never eaten anywhere where I feel like money was completely down the drain. Well today I Just spent $50 down the drain. I rather eat McDonald's or Jack in the Crack. Everything is dirty AF too. Nothing is ever wiped down. The doors, the trays, the counter is so gross and filthy grime everywhere.

Anderson T.

Yelp
This place has amazing food infinity out of 10. I have noticed that most of the reviews are a bit out dated. Sues kitchen has gotten way better the ambiance feels more modern and clean. It is better is you speak mandarin. Come here if you want a cheap and delicious meal.

Yelp
I wanted so much to like this place. The pictures looked good and the prices looked good too. There were some bad reviews. I was very impressed when I opened the Styrofoam container. The food looked like a nice presentation. When I called in my order they were able to, take the order, barely, but that's not a problem. The chicken looks crispy on the picture and is certainly not crispy on the plate. In addition the meat is not free of grizzle or tendon and is not cut so that it cooks evenly some parts with some parts were super thick. Unfortunately, the thick part was very uncooked. Hopefully I don't have any issues. The taste was fine. Spices were fine side condiments were good. The rice was good. A couple running. The place seemed very nice and friendly. I will give it one more. Try if you speak Chinese, please tell these people That they can be very successful if they cook the food completely and make the fried foods crispy. The skin on the chicken was very rubbery because it just was not cooked enough. I will give it one more. Try someone someone please speak to them if I could, I would because I love to see people succeed.

Yelp
This Is the new sues kitchen menu and it looks fabulous! The menu finally has amazing high quality photos and it represents the food so well!

J. C.

Yelp
They have poor service, don't bother if you are white. I could go on but too pathetic to continue with what I thought. Never got a chance to taste food because all the asians arriving after us were a priority. No joke, no exaggeration. We were not welcome. I doubt we would have been served at all.
google avatar

Yelp
Same great quality food! Out of side dishes at 7PM tho, sadly. They close at 8PM now. Came to pick up a to go order. Their best item is the beef tendon noodle soup!!

Neidy P.

Yelp
Amazing food! This is a hidden gem. This is my to go spot. I recommend the veggie chow mein. Or any of the items. This is the BEST FOOD EVER

Yelp
So much has changed to Torrance but glad to see Sue's Kitchen lives on -- it's one of the few restaurants that I used to go to as a kid that's still around. (They used to feed be during my college years too.) Anyway, I came here late Christmas evening and had amazing food and service. My kid loved it! Thank you for continuing to be amazing
google avatar

Kayanne G.

Yelp
This place is very no-frills. People typically order to-go because the space is so small. The staff is very direct but they're also very nice. The food is phenomenal. This has been added to my list of go-to places for a quick bite that's also price friendly and amazing.
google avatar

Ricky P.

Yelp
They have a new cast. It's not Laurel and Harley. It's Abbot and Costello now. No English but cooler. The cook had a unlit cigarette in his mouth. Can't get more authentic then that!!!
google avatar

Duke C.

Yelp
The place is turning more and more into a hole in the wall. Even though it was renovated a few years ago, lack of upkeep since the pandemic is starting to become really obvious. Inconsistency is how I'd describe the current Sue's Kitchen, especially in regards to the beef noodle soup. Some days it is awesome - broth has depth, not too oily, and the beef is tender. On bad days, it is overly oily (the way it is prepped), beef tough like rubber, and it's just... flat. Most of the time it's in between. Family and I still go back cause it's close by and it's always an easy meal. Their cold dishes is still a great value. Peanuts is straight up addicting!
google avatar

Bex X.

Yelp
DIRTY. Beware... BUGS! The previous ownership was excellent, but under the current ownership Sue's Kitchen has gone sooo downhill. It's so dirty in the front/customer area, I truly can't imagine what the kitchen/back looks like. Literally found FLIES in my soup. Yuck!! I almost threw up when I realized! Quality of food is not as good as before either. Really disappointing because the previous owners made this place a total gem.
google avatar

Kelsey C.

Yelp
Small and family-owned, Sue's Kitchen does possess a certain charm. The Chinese Burrito gets the job done - I do love a beef roll. I also tried Intestine with Brown Sauce because I was feeling brave. Not bad but not good either. This gamble did not pay off. I got Chicken Fried Rice as well, which was good. I love that it's so mom and pop, but some of this looked and tasted like it had been sitting under a warmer for a while. Prices are reasonable, and food is alright overall, but I do wish it tasted more freshly cooked.
google avatar

Maruko X.

Yelp
Ambiance: small establishment, limited parking in front of the restaurant, good for to go orders Service: very fast though no so patient Food: old fashioned menu, not authentic szechwan cuisine Spicy Sliced Beef - *** average taste Spicy Sliced Pork Ear - *** average taste Bean Curd with Celery - *** light taste Hot Braised Stew Beef Noodle Soup - *** spicy taste and soggy noodles Vermicelli in Hot Meat Sauce - *** too watery Wonton in Hot Chili Oil - ** not freshly made Price: large portions and inexpensive prices, about $15 per person
google avatar

Rick R.

Yelp
Purpose of the visit was braised beef noodle soup. It did not disappoint. Right up there with my local favorites (Tasty Noodle House, and Din Tai Fung), and at roughly $9, a great value. Also at roughly $9, the beef roll ("chinese burrito") was lacking. Too small, not enough sauce or cilantro, and the beef was cold. This is an authentic Taiwanese restaurant and worth a try. No frills, but that is fine. Let the soup do the dazzling

Yelp
Horrible.. paid 18$ for a BOBA TEA DRINK and 14$ for a SMALL boba drink.. they had no prices on the boba so i expected the average 5-6$. the boba tasted cheap too they used fake matcha.

Yelp
I love supporting small businesses like this one, but my first impression of them was not great. I called to pick up and order at 8pm on Friday, no answer. I figured they might be busy so I decide to head over. I look at the hours on Yelp and it says they're open until 9pm. Great! It's 7:45, and it'll take  me under 10 minutes to get there. I arrive, the "Open" sign is still on, and I see people eating inside. Great! I'm minutes away from chomping down on some delicious Chinese food is what I think. Excited, with a smile on my face, I approach the door and see their hours of operation are until 9pm! GREAT, I'm almost there! I open the door to the restaurant, confident in what I'm about to order having wrote it on my Notes app on my phone after carefully scrolling through all the available photos on Yelp and meticulously studying the menu in anticipation of satisfying a craving. All seems well at this point...but alas... Instead, I am welcomed by a man hunched over a cash register with his back to the door, who barely makes the effort to turn to acknowledge that someone entered his establishment, and looking rather annoyed, yells at me "CLOSED!" Yikes. Maybe that craving will have to wait another day...and with an establishment that actually wants customers.
google avatar

Vicki M.

Yelp
Since there isn't an updated price list anywhere, I thought i'd mention how much I was charged. I ordered two beef noodle soup and it came out to $20 even (so $10 per bowl of beef noodle soup). I paid in cash. Sadly, the flavor was just okay (not phenomenal). It was very oily and there were only 4 small pieces of meat per bowl. It's a small hole in the wall place and there's only one person working there. I want to keep supporting this place, but I think they need to improve the quality and maybe add some more veggies and meat.
google avatar

Yelp
Sue's has always been a staple and I've been coming here for years. My family and I always order the cold dishes -- the tofu skin, spicy peanut, celery, and pig ear being some of the dishes we frequent. No matter what you order, it's packed with flavor while also maintaining the traditional Chinese flavors the dishes inquire. The jiajiangmian and pork and leek dumplings are also dishes that stand out here!

Yelp
yoooo this place is freaking amazing....i had two amazing grandpa dude who barely spoke any english but it made everything tasted that much more authentic. we did a lot of pointing and mumbling but we got everything we order with no problems. dan dan noodles...the beef broth stew soup....and the freaking wonton with chillie oil!!!!!! it was so good, it made me wanna go to din tai fung and slap the paid actor behind the glass windows making dumplings! don't let me get started on the fuxking prices...the prices were never updated since 1995 let's gate keep this place!

Yelp
Poor hygiene! Ordered beef noodle. I try to take a sip of soup first after noodle comes. And I notice there is a black spot in the soup. Oh gosh! Its a fly!!! Then I talk to the staff. But they don't have any apologies, just ask me what food you wanna change. Bad attitude, poor hygiene. It is my last time visit.
google avatar

Yelp
This places serves the best authentic, cheap and flavorful Chinese food! The workers speak mostly Chinese and so do most of the customers. It's also located in a small strip mall, so you know it's authentic. The food is simple but full of flavor. I've been coming here since I was a little girl, and I come back every time I'm in town. Their Dan Dan Mian is a must, and I always get their chicken leg rice. It's super crispy and the gravy tastes so good. Their soups also warm the heart! It's very small and sometimes get busy. But don't worry, their takeout tastes just as good!
google avatar

Ryan W.

Yelp
Sue's Kitchen is a hidden gem in Torrance for Taiwanese food. I love coming here when I'm craving a good beef noodle soup or a fried chicken leg with rice. They also have plenty of delicious side dishes in which you can choose up to three items per dish. // FOOD // Hot Braised Stew Beef Noodle Soup: Deliciousness. Fatty broth with chunks of tender beef, chewy noodles, and a few pieces of baby bok choy. It consistently tastes the same and the portion size is a good amount. 4.5/5 Pork Chop Rice/Fried Chicken Leg Rice: Pieces of either fried pork chop or fried chicken leg served with a tea boiled egg, rice and pickled veggies. I personally like the fried chicken leg rice more since the chicken is more tender than the pork chop. Both are fried and cooked to perfection though. 4/5 Wonton in Hot Chili Oil: Soft, tender wontons in a hot chili sauce that is absolutely delicious! A great appetizer to share and snack on before your entree comes out. 4/5 Side dishes: Spicy peanuts, smoked tongue, shredded pork ear w/ soy sauce, pickled veggies, and cucumbers. I enjoy all of them! One plate comes with your choice of up to three of these side dishes. Overall, I enjoy coming to Sue's Kitchen on almost a weekly basis. The food is delicious and the portion size is great. They have many other options on their menu, but I typically just stick with the beef noodle soup and the fried chicken leg rice.

Yelp
One of the main reasons for going to this place is the items sold under the heat lamp. As of late those items are not so fresh. It also appears the container is smaller. Lastly, the ower could use some customer service training.
google avatar

Danny S.

Yelp
Their cold dishes are legit super good, would get them everytime Loved - Pig ears - peanuts - seaweed - tofu skin - snow vegetable Liked - cabbage, this is just ok, but good veggies to get - celery Meh - beef

Yelp
My boyfriend has been such a loyal customer at Sue's for years and introduced me this place about a year ago. His go-to's are the cold appetizers that they offer, $5 for any 3 choices, which include his favorite: spicy pork ears, bean curd skin, and smashed cucumbers or celery. Appetizers usually have a fixed amount throughout the day, so many items may be sold out by the time they are almost closed! This place is so good, so home-y, and authentically Chinese. The spicy pork ears are my favorite because they're coated in a delicious Szechuan sauce. Today we ordered the beef noodle soup and it came in a huge, piping hot bowl that was enough for us to share. It was slightly oily but it made the flavorful broth coat the noodles so that each bite was tasty. I liked it so much that I mentioned I actually preferred it over Din Tai Fung's beef noodle soup. To make it better, it was only $7 for the bowl of soup and about $12 total for the whole bill. Definitely a hidden gem in Torrance.

Yelp
I had this place bookmarked for a while and we were in the mood for beef noodle soup today. When we walked in, I saw another customer eating it and it looked so good that I decided that I wanted my own bowl. My husband ordered half and half (tendon and beef) and I ordered just beef. The first bite made his eyes water and nose run, but I was prepared and it didn't affect me. The beef was tender and the noodles plentiful. We couldn't believe each bowl was only $6.60. I also ordered won tons with chili oil after seeing pictures on Yelp. Those were good too. All of the customers were Chinese, which was a good sign that the place was going to be legit. There was also a glass case with cold dishes. We didn't get anything from there because we already had enough food. Parking spaces were pretty tight in this strip mall right off Crenshaw Blvd. We didn't have any issues with service, unlike some of the other reviewers. But then again, we were here for the food, not fine dining.

Han L.

Yelp
We ordered beef roll take out last Sunday. It looked totally like left over from last night, the beef already dried up. We just threw it in the trash. We used to order from there often till the new owner. The quality of food became not as good as before. We decided to give it a shot. It was a really bad decision. We will never eat there again, period. Note, we ate noodles and other appetizers, we both had diarrhea.

Yelp
Good food but the man/owner is kinda grumpy, but it is what it is, you come for the food and you get out

Yelp
[Review #462] 2019 Yelp 100 Challenge (117/100) Sue's Kitchen has been a Mandarin Szechwan staple in the South Bay for a couple of decades. My surrogate brother introduced this hole-in-the-wall because of my love for 紅燒牛肉麵 (beef stew noodle soup), & I always enjoy this classic noodle no matter the time of the year; it's also great when I'm recovering from a loss of appetite. The restaurant is located in a small strip plaza just north of Torrance Crossroads. Parking is limited & tight, & goes in 1 direction. The dining room is cramp, providing seating for 14? I rarely eat at the restaurant nowadays because I feel rushed to get done, especially during lunch/dinner rush so I'm unable to enjoy my meal at a leisurely pace. For its size, the menu is quite vast & our family probably had eaten through 1/2 of it over the years, skipping through some in preference of our favorites, & it's a long list. SAUTÉED A CHOY VEGETABLES (炒A菜) is unique to the Taiwanese; it's aka Taiwan lettuce, AA Chop Xin, stem lettuce, asparagus lettuce, celery lettuce, celtuce, wosun. Its stalks reminds me of cucumbers, leaves like romaine, & remains crisp after a quick sauté. Their HOT BRAISED STEW BEEF NOODLE SOUP (紅燒牛肉麵) has an unctuous soup, spicy yet tender beef, & consistent al dente thin noodles. =D The ever-popular WONTON IN HOT CHILI OIL (紅油炒手) is a fav if me & my husband, but sometimes the filing is a bit skimpy so it tastes mostly of wonton skin. :-| I had my 1st CHINESE BURRITO (牛肉捲餅) in SGV, & Sue's version isn't one to be missed; it's essentially the onion pancake without the onions, & stuffed with seasoned beef. =) My kiddos love the ONION PANCAKE (蔥油餅) & has been burned on occasion for their enthusiasm, they have since learned to wait for it to cool down; their other fav is Pork Fried Rice (肉絲炒飯). It's another really good dish but sometimes it's a bit too oily. I noticed that when it's busy, their executed dishes tends to be oilier than norm. Takeout is great! Even when they're busy, your order can be ready between 20 - 30 mins.; their mise en place is excellent, allowing for quick turnaround. Once I place my order, I have to immediately leave because it's usually ready upon my arrival. Fast & efficient service, mostly great & definitely affordable, Sue's Kitchen is a hidden gem in the South Bay! Yelp
Food is great. Had the spicy tendon soup, the first item on their menu. Place is small. It has that "home made" flavor that you don't get in other ramen places. On the other hand, they can get a bit disorganized, but I expect that in most small businesses.

Yelp
CASH ONLY! Sue's Kitchen is one of the very few places in the South Bay that you can get a decent Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup. Along with that, they have lots of Taiwanese/Chinese dishes that are very recognizable to its audience. I've been coming here with my parents for years when I grew up in the South Bay. After moving away and coming back, this place remains the same and there's just something homey about that. Mental note (to self): Do not order to far ahead of time because your food will be waiting in styrofoam boxes for a long time and the food will then congeal to the shape of the box and now you've got a mega goop of a wonton that's hard to eat. Not their fault, just something to note lol. They move fast! So tell them what time you will pick up the order because they will make it for that time frame. I was actually expecting haste and curt service and interactions but was surprised by the friendliness and efficiency. My recent take out order (barring my ill timing) was smooth as can be! I ordered the onion pan pancakes (AKA scallion pancakes), chili oil wontons, and dan dan noodles. The whole order cost me around $15 which is pretty reasonable for the amount of food I got! The pancakes were thicker than I was used to. The texture was chewy but pleasant. Not my favorite but not bad either. The wontons had a bit too much wonton wrap and not enough meat filling for me but I liked the flavor and combination of the chili oil. The dan dan noodles were kind of a disappointment because they weren't really traditional dan dan. They were more like chili oil noodles with a little minced meat. It wasn't saucy enough for the typical dan dan. It was a hefty portion, I definitely appreciate the price to portion. But I had to add my own oils and sauces to make it closer to dan dan style. It's been a while since I've had the beef noodle soup so I'll definitely be back for that and other menu items so I can update my review. But overall a-okay. Just not as traditional as I thought. But would definitely return to try others!

Yelp
I have ordered a combination of cold dishes on their menu. The price listed on their menu is #50 @$6.90 for 1 meat and 2 vegetables. They charged me $8, i.e. 16% on tax. They said the tax is correctly charged! I went into their bathroom through the kitchen. It is disgusting to see the hygienic condition of the kitchen. All staff do not speak English and are very rude.

Yelp
There are not many good Chinese restaurants but Sue's Kitchen is legit. The prices are very reasonable considering the recent inflation. The beef noodle soup is highly recommended.

Yelp
I love their beef noodle soup. I've been coming here for a long time. Although I hadn't been for a couple of years, something has changed. The cucumber salad is still crunchy and very fresh, but it didn't have that yummy garlic flavor it once had. It's a quasi self serve. You go to the counter to order your food. The person hands you your place settings and menus.
