Came here after a night of activities in Sanford. The place is usually packed, but we were able to get a table for two, luckily. The ambiance is about half of what this place is all about. It's very Trader Sam's, including a lot of neat Disney memorabilia on the shelves on the walls behind the bar. Dark and stormy tiki bar vibes. The service was super friendly, and the food and bev came out very timely. The drinks were great, and they had a really nice mocktail menu. You can come and enjoy a nice drink without getting alcohol. We also ordered a burger from their limited food menu. It was very good. Not in competition for best burger in Orlando or anything, but the flavors were on point, and bun was nice and soft, and the furikake dusted crinkle cut fries were the perfect side item. Overall, this place was very cool, and if you haven't come here yet, you need to.

11/10, great experience. Drinks were amazing, boozy and well balanced originals and classic tiki options with house made syrups the way it should be. They also whipped up a delicious mocktail for my friend so there's something for everyone. Matt and Clay were both great hosts/servers/bartenders. Give em a visit.

Another stop on my October tiki tour, finally made it to the infamous Suffering Bastard, way out in Sanford, FL. Hidden inside Tuffy's Music Box by a thin red line is a nondescript door leading to a hidden gem. The bar is through and through tiki, oozing with exotica and charm. The menu is chalked full of nice original cocktails and spins on the Don and Vic classics. Don't miss the astronaut, or Vic's bastard as namesake, and be sure to leave with a DD. The small bites were great, and even though it was small, the ambiance was everything. 5/5, make sure you hit this spot before it moves locations to Orlando.

We felt the drinks had lots of ice. I know drinks have ice but most places use the sonic ice the absorbs liquid and not solid kind. We also loved the honesty of the waitress when asked about a sauce that came with the furikake fries. Both were tasty. Overall we enjoyed the experience.

This place blew my mind! Great drinks, excellent service, and delicious food. Quaint, great decor that really transports you. Drinks were uniquely tiki! Nice selection, knowledgeable bartenders, and good food selection. Too bad they're not open earlier, but that's maybe a blessing 😉. It's inside Tuffy's Music Box.

The drinks and the service here are definitely top-notch. Be careful these drinks are decorative and taste delicious but they still pack a punch. It's hard to limit yourself just to a couple drinks every one of them are so delicious and so unique. I really enjoy the vibe even though it's a pretty small place when you sit down it feels like you have your own private little area. The service was great the place was busy we still got our drinks in a timely manner and enjoyed the atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this for just about anything but a date night this place is amazing and guaranteed to impress.

I'm usually a dive-bar kind of guy but I was motivated to find something a little nicer tonight. I stopped in solo and ordered a Mai Tai. The cocktail was magnificent! Multi-dimensional... The variety of flavors combined with the well-chosen garnishes delivered a fantastic ride. After a long week, being able to drop the phone and bask in the experience was exactly what I needed. Note: If you're in a hurry, this is not the place for you. It takes time to craft these cocktails. Slow your roll or you'll be frustrated. It's worth the wait, or they'll make it right. Really.

My husband and I visited Suffering Bastard for the first time Saturday 3/29. Easily one of the top tiki bars I’ve visited. It’s very small with a great traditional tiki atmosphere, leaning into creepy, which I loved. We each had three drinks: Astronaut, Port Light, Jean Claude Pandan, Cat 5 Hurricane, a classic mojito…and one I’m forgetting the name of. They were all delicious and STRONG (they do give strength ratings on the menu so we knew what we were getting into). They were also beautiful, like pictures in a magazine. Perfect glassware choices and garnishes. Meticulously put together. The Astronaut was served with colored blinking light in it and a half-lime full of boba pearls (which I think were boozy too?). The hurricane had a busted umbrella pick. And the most stunning mojito I’ve ever had the honor of drinking. The service was fantastic - we didn’t have reservations but they fit us in and let us know when there were a couple bar stools free. The 3 bartenders/servers that night were impeccable. Extremely knowledgeable about the drinks and able to make recommendations. Very friendly and commendably tolerant of drunk patrons who like Ghostbusters (we’re sorry). I bought 3 different glasses which were also beautiful and reasonably priced - I had to buy all 3. Definitely a place worth visiting.

First time here at the Bastard with some friends the drinks were fantastic and delicious and many choice to choose from. The servers and bartender were very helpful with getting good choices for drinks. I ordered the Dr. Shakolo and their rum old fashioned which was phenomenal!! It's a wonderful tiki bar and I definitely want to come here again and I recommend it for anyone coming to Sanford..

Tucked away in the corner is this beautifully decorated tiki bar. This business is capitalizing on every square foot which is great. The bar is very small space so highly advise calling ahead of time or making a reservation. We made a reservation for the afternoon and it was packed so we were glad we did. The staff were amazing and very professional. For lunch we ordered the fries and dumplings. Both were cooked perfectly. My favorite was the dumplings. Not too soft or over cooked and they had the best flavor. For drinks I ordered the frozen lava flow and the pearl diver. I ordered the lava flow to start not knowing it was frozen. Not a frozen drink fan but it was good. The pearl diver wasn't my favorite. The tiki drinks here tend to be on the spicier side. I have found that tiki bars either focus on the fruit flavors or the spice flavors. Their menu and the way the pearl diver tasted I would say they focus on accentuating the spice side of their drinks. Overall, we had a great time with amazing ambiance. The lunch was superb, and the drinks, to me, were just subpar. This is totally a biased opinion because I like fruit accentuated tikis with coconut, and banana rather than spice. Definitely a great spot to sit back and relax for the afternoon or evening but don't forget the reservation.

We were in florida and went to one tiki bar. Our siblings took us to a hidden Tiki Bar. You have to go to Tuffy's Bottleshop and walk through the place and go to the back to find the hidden tiki bar. The drinks are around 15-20 something per drink. This is a hidden gem, it's hidden, and you forget where you are and think you're at a tiki hut somewhere on an island. This place is an absolute gem for anyone seeking an escape to a tropical paradise right in the heart of Florida. From the moment you step into this vibrant oasis, it's clear that you're in for a tiki adventure that transcends the ordinary. The ambiance at Suffering Bastard is a feast for the senses. Such a hidden gem and my new favorite Tiki bar!! Clay, Matt, and Eric were extremely kind and helpful, and kept the drinks coming for my group and I! Even on a busy night, the staff works hard to satisfy the bar's partons! I *love* the small details put into every drink and that the bartenders took the time to explain the drinks to us while preparing them! I love the lighting and overall vibe. It is quintessential Tiki!

This might be our favorite place in the entire Orlando metro area. The hidden location is great and the atmosphere once you're inside, is unmatched. The professional bartenders and amazing cocktails make this a destination bar. Well, worth a special trip and cannot be missed if you are in Sanford.

We spent girls night here and it was an amazing time. It's an intimate setting, so speak easy, people! I had a Spam Bowl. The egg and spam were cooked a little more than I would have liked, but the flavor was good! I started off with the Ube Bae (2 tiki level). Then I ramped it up with Vic's Suffering Bastard (3 tiki level). I don't remember the rest of the night. Just kidding! lol but they do limit the strong drinks to 2 per person! I would come back. I wish they had more food options, though.

This gem is so cute. Hidden inside of Tuffy's you'll find this sweet little escape. I've been several times and the drinks are always fantastic. Think vacation vibes without being treated like a tourist by locals. Perfectly measured pours and friendly staff. Come here ready to smile and chat it up with friendly people.

Tucked away in Tuffy's Bottle Shop is this little secret tiki bar. As you walk in the hostess checks for seats and you are taken to a dimly lit, intimate tiki paradise. There is tropical/elevator like music playing (a little loud) and very close quarters seating (this is preferably for couples or date night). Our group sat at the bar and the bartenders were super nice, greeted us and offered recommendations on drinks. They do have a small food menu but we did not get any bar bites while there, just tiki drinks. The drinks take a bit of time to make as they are intricate, but when you get them they are very flavorful and delicious! I highly recommend trying it out here especially at Bastard Hour(happy hour with a limited selection of $8 tiki cocktails as pictured).

Totally hidden & totally cool little tiki bar!! And I do mean tiny!! While the drinks were a little pricy they were totally worth it. Traditional tiki drinks with some new tiki concoctions as well. Presentation is top notch as well. Highly highly recommend!

Over the weekend, I visited this bar with some friends and was pleasantly surprised by the unique drinks on the menu. The bartenders demonstrated exceptional skill in preparing each drink, and the wonderfully decorated bar provided a perfect ambiance for the experience. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and delightful night out. Our group made a collective decision to give the Volcano Bowl, one of the shared drinks, a try. The drink was a lovely blend of flavors; even those who usually avoid rum enjoyed it. The bowl was visually stunning, with flames spewing, creating a dramatic effect. We cannot give this review five stars due to a minor incident with the price. The menu advertised the drink for $45, but after ordering, we were informed by the server that there had been a typo and the actual price was $55. Despite the price increase, the drink still seemed reasonably priced for what we received. However, we were taken aback that the advertised price was not being honored, especially since the price difference was not mentioned beforehand or noted on the menu, which was laminated. We would still highly recommend this bar!

I've been wanting to visit Suffering Bastard for a while now, and I'm so glad that I finally got the opportunity. It did not disappoint! This cozy tiki bar is nestled within Tuffy's and fills up quickly, so aim to get a reservation. The decor and ambiance is spot on - stepping into Suffering Bastard feels like you've stepped into a tropical paradise, and their drinks taste like it. The cocktail selection here is extensive, but the menu is color-coded according to strength of the drink to help you make your selection. The drinks come in a wide variety of fun glasses, and each one I sampled was expertly crafted. My personal favorite was the Saturn, which was bursting with passion fruit flavor. I will definitely be aiming to revisit the next time I make it up to Sanford!

This is an awesome tiki bar. It is in the middle of no where, but if you make an afternoon of it and explore the town and have fun, add this bar at the end and get ready for some fun. Do note it's very small in here, so you may wanna get there early so you can get a seat. Otherwise you may have to wait a little bit. But this place is worth it.

Love this local place in sanford ! It's similar to trader sam's at disney without the drink show and half the price! our server was very attentive to us. The drinks are labeled by the amount of alcohol by showing how many Tiki's are in them either one, two, or three and you're only allowed to order ONLY two drinks that have three Tiki's. The drinks shown in my pictures all have two or less Tiki's. this place is hard to get a reservation for and when you do you have your table for two hours before they ask you to kindly leave to make way for the second wave of reservations. Check this cozy place out, and the bar tenders were great! secret menu item is stay puft drink is the best!!

Such a cool spot. Very relaxing, chill vibes. Essentially it's a speakeasy in the back of Tuffy's Music Box. I love the music. They have a great happy hour and really good food. I had the Mai Tai ($8/HH), the Rum Gum & Lime ($12) and ordered the Edamame with Togarashi and the Chicken Skewers. The edamame was almost too spicy, but like a bag of hot fries, I couldn't stop eating. The sauce on the chicken was incredible as well. The bartenders are really great at what they do here and the menu is obviously curated with a love of the history of tiki bars. There isn't much seating so definitely make a reservation, especially on the weekend. I will try to come back every time I'm in Sanford.

Ambience is cool, servers are NOT cool but they think they're the coolest, drinks were alright, the French fries were awesome

What a perfect little gem!! This place has been on my list for over a year and my significant other and I randomly decided to finally go on a Wednesday night, back in December. To say this is best cocktail spot in Sanford is an understatement. Their "Moonkist Coconut" was so unique with a blend of coconut, rum, honey, citrus, and West Indian spices. I'll be dreaming of this drink forever!

I have heard about this place and seen it on facebook many times. I have been wanting to go, but to be honest, my wife is not a big rum drinker. We had a special occasion with a friend's birthday And they are rum drinkers so it gave me the perfect excuse. You should make reservations online so you know you have a place to sit. It's very small and intimate and a great environment to hang out and have a few drinks. You can get in if they have open seats. But from what i've heard, it doesn't happen often. And by the way, reservations are for 2 hour blocks. So drink and eat all you can in two hours. There's a wide variety of drinks and we tried a couple, and I enjoyed them. The food is great too, I have to say the pork sliders are incredible. I can't say that this would be my Friday night. Hang out, but the bottle club out front is a great place to just stop in and have a beer. Either way I don't think you can go wrong at this location.

Really great drinks, and pretty good food once you've already had a drink or two. Get there near open, we've never had an issue getting a spot if we arrive early in the evening. Bartenders are friendly enough, but the ambiance and drinks are where it's at.

This place was super cool! I've never been to a bar like this one before and let me tell you the server really knew the menu inside and out so if you're uncertain of what to get, just ask! The menu can be intimidating as there are many things to try but my group and I all got different drinks and we all enjoyed what we got. They also offer food, but it is a tapas-style menu so don't expect any entrees. I'll definitely be returning to the suffering bastard since I have more cocktails I want to try. (p.s. these drinks will in fact get you drunk if you don't pace yourself just a tip for my lightweights/cheap dates)

This is such a cool spot! For the longest time there was just a door and you had to know about it to even TRY to get in. Now theres an actual entryway and you can make reservations. Read that again MAKE RESERVATIONS. There are only about six tables so chance of walking up and getting in are slim. We were seated and looked over the menu, our server was helpful and answered out multitude of questions. Both of our cocktails were lovely and appropriately priced for the type of venue. We did not eat as we had just come from dinner but I've heard the food is good. The vibe is super chill, it's tiki but also moody, I really liked it. We only stayed for one drink but I definitely want to go back and check out their happy hour sometime!

Definitely a fun place to go. Inside Tuffy's bottle shop. When you walk into the Tuffy's bar just follow the red stripes on the floor to the tiki bar. Make reservations because the place is small inside. Also, make sure you bring your phone so you can put your flashlight on to read the menu. It is dark in there. They do have a happy hour for drinks. We ordered food. The crab Rangoons were more like cream cheese Rangoons. I opened up all of them and didn't see any crab meat in them. Guess someone forgot about the crab. They were cooked perfectly. You only get 4 for $8 which is pretty pricey for fried cream cheese wontons. Also, got the pork sliders. The sauce was very sweet. I could taste soy sauce and pineapple in it. I liked the sauce but the person that ordered them said it was way too sweet and didn't care for it. Someone at the table got crab fried rice and she loved it. The shredded blue crab is served cold on top of the rice. I just think it needed some spice in it. Definitely a cool place with a awesome vibe to it. Never felt rushed at all. Will definitely be back. The cocktail winner of the night was the 3 dots and a dash which was excellent! The bamboo was very good with citrus juices. You must love grapefruit juice for this cocktail which I do. Very refreshing and got on a hot day. Arthur did a fantastic job recommending cocktails for us. He took the time to describe the cocktails and we liked how he explained his favorite cocktails depending on the mood he was in. Their food menu is limited. There are vegetarian options also.

We stopped in here for drink since we've heard great things, and Suffering Bastard lives up to the hype! Tucked inside Tuffy's Bottle Shop, it feels like a special hideaway that you can't just stumble upon. We got here right at open on Saturday and it filled up quickly. Next time we will make reservations. The menu has a ton of really interesting tiki drinks you can't get elsewhere. They really go above and beyond with the theme -- from the decor to the drink descriptions on the menu and music, you feel like you're on an island in the South Pacific. I ordered the El Diablo, one of the few tequila drinks on the menu. It was well balanced and refreshing. Kyle got the Kuna Cooler, I rum-based drink. He loved it. The only downside here is that most of the drink menu is rum based drinks (I mean, it is a tiki bar after all), so if you're not a rum person, you might enjoy the ambiance more than the menu. We can't wait to come back! Next time we want to try the food as well.

Julien, the bartender had the absolute worst personality and shouldn't be in the service industry. He is less than personable despite our best efforts to get him to interact with us. He enjoyed treating our group like we were "less than" and really had a bad attitude from the start of our time in this dive bar. Two of the four overpriced drinks tasted like chemicals... don't waste your time on this bar. There's so many other great speakeasy's around with amazing drinks and friendly staff. This one was just meh.

This place was awesome! Tucked away inside tuffys, this place does a great job from the theme, service, presentation of drinks, and overall experience! The menu is surprisingly pretty large, with so many fun and intriguing options to pick from! I really liked how each drink is rated on how strong it is on a scale from 1-3. While here I did the tiger shark, astronaut, and stay puft drinks! These drinks are strong, so the ratings are pretty darn accurate and not to be underestimated! I could go on and rave about how each drink was presented to me, but you just have to go in and experience it for yourself! The shark attack was on the lighter/sweet side. The astronaut definitely crept up on me... I see why there's a 2 drink limit on this one. The popping boba on the astronaut really combined well with the drink. The star of the show was the stay puft drink (not on the menu), but so cute and tasty. If you're coming with a group I'd suggest a reservation, the place is small and gets busy fairly quick! Overall will be back, goal is to try every menu item

Came for the happy hour. $8 cocktails. Made with care and dedication from dope bartenders. Mellow vibe. Intimate space. Bigger persons such as myself should choose the bar over the booth. The booth tables are in place and don't move, and as I said it's intimate, so a very tight squeeze. Other than that, it's a cool ambiance and good strong drinks.

Found this spot on Yelp and decided to check it out because I'm into cocktails...and what better concoctions than tiki inspired drinks? They have an extensive menu, I liked that they show how strong the drinks are going to be. All the ones my friend and I tried, were very good and had a definite kick to them. The place is kind of hidden in another venue, it's small and intimate, nice private ambiance. The two bartenders were great and gave good recommendations. Also, my Cuban sandwich was surprisingly delicious! If I'm ever in this area again, I'd definitely come back. They are doing construction on the main road that this place is on, but they are still open.

A cute and well-designed tiki bar room. The drink menu is pretty extensive and while not all the descriptions are actually helpful in letting you know what's in them, the bar staff are super friendly and knowledgeable and able to let you know if you have any question. They also have a small menu that I was happy to find was vegetarian friendly. I imagine with modifications the jackfruit sliders and fries could be vegan (though definitely ask, I was able to get the fries with the meat floss on the side so they were vegetarian). I will definitely go back and highly recommend if tiki bars or cute themed bars are your thing.

Suffering Bastard is such a fun hidden little bar, you really would never find it unless you knew where to look or maybe searching for a restroom. It gets busy here to be sure to make a reservation if you want to get a table on the weekend. The drinks are sooo good, and really strong, they have tiki symbols next to them to show the strength. The somoan fogcutter is my favorite drink, but really you can't go wrong here. They have a few tasty bites to enjoy here as well, potstickers, fries, pulled pork sandwich's. We always take our visiting friends here and it never disappoints.

Located inside Tuffy's Bottle Shop - follow the red line on the floor- you'll find the Suffering Bastard tucked in the back. Make a reservation. It's very small (seats 25 max), which adds to the vibe, and not ideal for large groups. The tropical motif is very well done, complete with island music and themed drinkware. The drinks are all tropical in nature and mostly rum-based, so there's not a lot you'll like if you're looking for something different. The staff is very knowledgeable about the menu but, due to the involved nature of most of the drinks, service can be slow. We had the Moonkist Coconut, Three Dots and a Dash, and Pearl Diver Punch. All were ok but I wouldn't get them again. They offer a few apps and we tried the edamame. Again, it was ok but I wouldn't get it again. It's one of those fun to do once places for me.

Fun little spot with a great, secretive ambiance that makes you forget you are basically in a warehouse in Sanford. Their drink choices were plentiful and not for the faint of heart. I'm greatly looking forward to going back when we both have a DD and can try more of their exotic drinks since they absolutely pack a dangerously delicious punch! We only had time for one drink so I couldn't rate everything, but will definitely be going back.

Best Tiki cocktails ! Amazing presentation and glassware! When you step into Suffering Bastard located inside Tuffys in downtown Sanford, it's as if you teleported into a tropical tiki paradise. The lighting and decor are on point and bring in the good vibes. But wait... you haven't had a cocktail yet. I had the opportunity to try multiple cocktails as we were in a group and all ordered different cocktails to sample the menu. Get adventurous when ordering get out of your comfort zone and you'll be pleased with what you order! Anyways, if you are in town and want to enjoy some fire tiki cocktails.... This is your spot ! Stop suffering and go check out the cocktails at suffering bastard !!

What a fun hidden gem. Literally it's hidden inside Tuffy's. The place is very tiny so reservations are crucial. Luckily we went super early so they accommodated us right away. They have happy hour until 7pm but it's a small limited menu on HH. I say grab one HH drink then dive into their specialty drinks. 90% of the drinks are rum based, I mean it is a tiki spot! I had to have the Ghostbusters puft marshmallows drink and while it was pricey, they drink was crazy strong and huge. Worth it! We also grabbed a few of the appetizers. Great spot for happy hour.

Wonderful tiki bar that it took me far too long to finally go to check out. Drinks were on point, service was good, mugs and glassware are cool are now have a place in my collections, and the decor and music show that someone really cares about making the place a true little haven of Polynesian Pop. Until I can teleport myself to the Mai-Kai in Ft Lauderdale, this is my new high-water mark for Florida tiki.

It's like a 1959s Elvis beach movie come alive. Love it and have been back many times.

Terrible. So unfortunate for such a cool and hip place to be so poorly ran. We waited 2 hours for a table. Then waited some more sitting outside the place, waited a few for a server once seated. Right away we knew what we wanted food wise and drink wise. The food arrived, but the drinks NEVER came. The bartender never came to check what was going on with our order. Paid and walked away terribly disappointed at the service and lack of attention toward customers. Doesn't matter how pretty or instagrammeable the drinks or the place is with this pattern there won't be many customers making line to get in. Do Not recommend

Very cute aesthetic! The drinks for happy hour were great and a good price. I tried the crab Rangoon and edamame and both were amazing! Definitely recommend giving this place a try! (You can make reservations in advance too Bc they do get pretty busy!)

This is my favorite tiki bar in Orlando. They have a great, expansive drink selection and some tasty food options as well. The ambiance is soothing and always a fun vibe. Tucked away inside Tuffy's Bottle Shop, I've found this place to be such a contrast from the typically busy crowd outside. Inside Suffering Bastard, it's more quiet and chill, and it's typically pretty easy to get in either right away or with a short wait. I've made it a point to try something new each time I go, while balancing old favorites. I will definitely be back for more!
