"Šug is the Croatian word for sauce, an important feature of this chef’s cuisine. Situated away from the busy tourist centre of Split, this informal, attractive and relaxing restaurant serves generous portions of traditional meat and fish dishes from Dalmatia, with the occasional influence from nearby Italy. In summer, the small outdoor space in an inner courtyard adds to the appeal." - Michelin Inspector

MICHELIN Guide Croatia : Gastronomic highlights in Split

"A Bib Gourmand spot situated outside the busy tourist centre, this pleasant, informal and relaxing restaurant is renowned for excellent value for money. It serves a wide array of traditional fish and meat dishes from Dalmatia in a peaceful setting, where a young staff provides friendly and courteous service. Delicious, carefully prepared dishes are inspired by home-cooked favourites such as tomato soup, home-made pasta with truffles, venison stew, beef soup with bread croutons, and renowned goat’s cheese from the island of Pag, and there’s a small, attractive outdoor dining space in the inner courtyard." - Annalisa Leopolda Cavaleri

Everything was exceptional. We did the tasting menu with two oysters added. It was more than worth it. We were blown away with the food and services. 10/10 I can’t pick our favorite dish because they were all phenomenal. A must try

Went to this place with my wife, as a recommendation from a local, and it was the best decision! We had the duck and the octopus, both were extremely delicious! Shrimp pasta as appetizer was really generous and incredible tasty. Wines are good as well. Don't hesitate about asking for the tiramisu as dessert!

Food is good. The sword fish is the best - very fresh and flavourful. Octopus is fresh. Shrimp pasta isn’t as impressive as what others mentioned. Smoked risotto is average. However, the service is really bad. The waiters are very inattentive and chatting among themselves. We needed to keep waiting for the menu and water at the beginning and when we wanted to order, even when we sat at the middle of the restaurant just facing them.

We did the chef's choice 3 course menu with wine pairing at Sug, and it was very good. The wine pairing was fabulous, and the service attentive. However, the portions were enormous (and I can eat a lot!). It's was more like two mains than a main and a starter. If I returned, I would just do the normal menu. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

The venison stew was great with tender meat and soft gnocchi, but the grilled octopus dish was a bit mismatched. The octopus itself was very good, but it was served with raw tomatoes, pickled onions, baked/fried potatoes, and a gravy none of which really complemented each other well. Service was great and the space was nice.

Perfection at a reasonable price. For antipasti, we had a white fish carpaccio wrapped around sweet rice which was delicious. Then we had squid ink risotto and creamy prawn pasta, both of which were divine. Good wine and attentive service as well. Some reviews say that this is a very fancy fine-dining place, but don’t let it put you off - the vibe is definitely nice but it’s also not very formal. You will feel at home as all the waiters are very friendly.

We loved this place. They for sure deserve to get one Michelin star. Top notch service by Antonella and Bodjo (?). We ordered the excellent steak tartar, then the veal risotto, which I so much wanted to take one home.. my wife had the tuna. The star of the night was the traditional split dessert called Snenokle.. we found the recipe online and we will try to make it back at home.

We came across this place online and wanted to check it out, since it has three straight Michelin Bib Gourmand awards. The menu was varied, and all sounded so good, so we had the three course tasting menu (€55) with wine pairings (+€30). The chef kindly completed us with an additional amuse bouche and sparkling wine on the house, which was so amazing. All the courses were 10/10, the portions were generous, the wine was lovely, and it was served with a smile from our knowledgeable waiter. Wish I could eat here every night!
