Google
We were out all day long and really hungry. In search of Caribbean deliciousness we found Suga & Spice. Harold was very kind and combined two tables for us. I ordered Mac & Cheese, Oxtail Sliders and the Deviled Eggs!!! Everything was perfectly

Google
My mom, sister and I seen a video about Suga & Spice and couldn’t wait to visit. Today was the day! The customer service and food were so good! We tried the deviled eggs with jerk shrimp. I got the Fish Sandwich on Coco bread with fries. My mom and sister got the Lemon Pepper Shrimp w/ Hot Honey. The restaurant is intimate and welcoming. Great portion sizes, great flavor and perfect amount of spice. We highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Google
Absolutely amazing cuisine. I ordered three deserts while my friends ordered the jerk chicken meal. Tried all of them, and they taste absolutely stunning. The banana bread pudding is my favorite of the desserts, and I can't get enough of it. Try this place! It's one to remember!

Google
This was our first time dining in and the food, service & atmosphere was amazing! 10/10! We ordered the jerk deviled eggs with fried shrimp, hot and honey salmon with rice and peas & collard greens, stuffed jerk salmon, cabbage & pepper jack cheese Mac & cheese 😍 the don Julio lemonade was also a 10/10! Definitely dine in if you’re looking for great food with a great vibe especially since the food was not overcooked nor undercooked. Just the perfect texture. We will be back again!

Google
This food was amazing! Everything was seasoned perfectly. Loved the large portion sizes. The customer service was excellent. This was our first visit, definitely coming back! Supporting our community!

Google
First time here. Service great as well as food, drinks and staff. Joy was a pleasure! She's manager, bartender and server and as overwhelming as it sounds she did it with ease. I definitely recommend. I got the Jerk fried chicken sandwich...B.O.M.B!!

Google
Visiting from Texas and Colorado and Caribbean food was mandatory. We tried S&S based on pictures and reviews and it did not disappoint! We tried the lemon pepper wings, pasta, shrimp and grits, deviled eggs and oxtail sliders! Everything was amazing. We'll definitely back. Highly recommend! Note: service team does not get the tips if you tip on card which is highly disappointing!! Not many people carry cash nowadays but something to keep in mind if you want to show appreciation for great service.

Google
Super friendly crew. Food was delicious. Best for carryout but Joy was great as a waitress and bartender. Curry cabbage, cornbread were bomb. Also ordered lobster tails, deviled eggs, shrimp and grits. Highly recommend

Yelp
Food was amazing and the service was good. Came out fresh and the vibrant colors set the resteraung off the chain.

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious. I had the fish sandwich and it was really yummy. The service was very friendly and the people were just very nice. I'm glad I don't live close cause I think I would be there too often. I love their menu and my girlfriend had the chicken wings and they look scrumptious. Truly a restaurant everyone should try!

Jahaan T.

Yelp
My coworkers and I ordered from here back in April. The food was just okay. I had the S & S wings which were pretty good. I just recommend not getting them deep fried since they're tossed. I also had the crab Mac and curry cabbage. I wish the Mac had the crab mixed in and was better seasoned. But I'd try again.

JaQuan B.

Yelp
I just left this restaurant and will never go back and I ordered my food and was waiting on the food over 30 minutes and when I ask the lady how long for my food the server came from the back and said fuck my order and my food and when I told the owner of the restaurant Jeffery he didn't even apologize for his behavior or for what he said so I got my refund I will never back and jam doung is better anyway

Yelp
Omg first trying this place. The service was excellent. The inside was a little small but accommodating for those that wanna eat in maybe 9 small tables. I got takeout sooo I ordered jerk wings and Mac n cheese and rice with beans and peas. The portions were good. Jerk wings were sooo good lil spicy but GOOD. Mac n cheese excellent rice was good also. Side of yams excellent sweet with marshmallows so good. Honey corn muffins excellent. I wanted oxtails but they were sold out. So we got salmon with fried rice and curry cabbage all were delicious. I'm just mad because they so far away but I will be making specials trip to go back

Yelp
My daughter wanted to try this place after seeing it on tik tok and invited me to tag along so I could foot the bill I'm sure lol. But after reviewing the menu online I was quickly on board. The rep at the counter who took our order was simply the best! Kind, patient, offered suggestions, answered our questions and greeted us with a smile . I even apologized as we were a bit all over the place while placing the order in my opinion and he reassured us it was okay and to just let him know when we were ready. We placed a carry out order to go and the cashier assured me he would double check everything to make sure all our food was there since we placed a large order. I really appreciated that, it's the small things for me. The food was pricey but worth it. I don't mind spending but the food has to be worth the price tag and when I say they delivered they did! I ordered the Hot Honey Salmon dinner which comes with 2 sides and my daughter ordered the Not Yo Momma Penne Pasta. I loved the Salmon OMG it was soooo good, the hot butter corn muffin yummy yummy in my tummy but the Mac and cheese was unfortunately just ok and could be better. My daughter loved her pasta she gave it 5 stars! We also got the oxtail Hawaiian rolls, jerk chicken egg rolls, rice and peas, green and cabbage, friend rice, and greens and cabbage, fries, mango lemonade, watermelon lemonade I promise you everything was mouthwatering. They have seating but not much, beautiful painting on the wall with vibrant colors! I will be back! Kudos for great service and even better food!

Yelp
Girl's day out and first visit. The establishment is very clean, polite staff and plenty of options. I ordered the seafood omelette with cheese grits. Both items were cold and asked for another serving of grits. The eggs were topped with crabmeat and shrimp. Unfortunately, it was much too salty for consumption. The others in my party thoroughly enjoyed their meals. All agreed that the eating utensils should be upgraded as what we used was of poor quality. I would definitely make a return visit and request no salt especially if you're already using Cajun spices.

Yelp
I got a chance to try Suga & Spice this weekend! This restaurant is a Caribbean-Southern restaurant located in Hyattsville MD. I ordered the jerk crab fries, pepper jack mac and cheese with crab, and hot honey salmon with fried rice and a honey butter corn muffin. *Jerk crab fries 10/10: great presentation, seasoned well, lump crab meat (unlike other restaurants) *Pepper Jack Mac & cheese with crab meat. 10/10: seasoned to perfection, lump crab meat, cheesy. *hot honey salmon 9/10: the salmon tasted fresh, it was cooked to perfection (soft on inside yet seared on the outside) * atmosphere: reggae played throughout the restaurant and the staff was friendly and assisted me with my food selection.

Yelp
This place was on my list to try for a while now. When my party and I got there we pushed two tables together to have an ample amount of seating. The place inside is small. As we are sitting down, we expected someone to come and take our orders; however, they didn't and just remained behind the counter. So I finally asked, is anyone coming to take our orders and what is the process? They informed us you order your food at the counter and they will bring it to you and water. I ordered the Hawaiian rolls French toast with wings and cheesy grits. I was disappointed because they gave me all legs and one wings, also the grits were not cheesy, but grainy. My plate left a lot to be desired. My girlfriend ordered the shrimp deviled eggs, I tried one and they were delicious. My son enjoyed his meal, which he ordered the blueberry pancakes that came with chicken strips and cheesy grits. He also really loved their watermelon lemonade. He ordered two of those ($7.42 for one bottle). I wouldn't personally come back, but it's worth a try.

Yelp
10/10. The food, the portion sizes, the quality, the customer service -- all of it is 10/10. The amount of times that I've eaten from Suga & Spice over the past month is actually unbelievable. I have ordered food from here (via DoorDash) once a week, every week, for the past 5 weeks. I also came here with my family to try the dine-in experience -- and I am so glad that I did. Suga & Spice is located in Hyattsville, near the Busboys & Poets and DeMatha Catholic High School. When you go in, the decor is simple and there are a few tables (probably enough to seat between 20/35 people in total). There's a free parking lot right behind the restaurant and some metered spaces right in front. Now let's get into the food. My FAVORITE item on their menu is the Jerk Crab Fries. They're listed as a side - but the portion sizes are so large that they easily make a meal. You get TONS of crab meat, and the jerk is just spicy enough. I also really liked the spicy chicken linguine. The linguine was spicy (as described on the menu) but they also gave a great amount of chicken and it was some of the best pasta I've had in a while. I do like the jerk wings - but just as a heads up they are also VERY spicy. The S&S Wings are good also, and a favorite for my picky-eater 5 year old niece. I did not try the jerk shrimp deviled eggs - but my family did and said they were AMAZING.

Scarlett D.

Yelp
Not my first time here. But the more I come, the food seems to be getting better and better. we started off with some jerk shrimp deviled eggs. The shrimp wasn't overly jerk, it had a nice layer of crisp to it. The chicken linguini came in a huge portion for only $24. I called that win. It was flavorful. It wasn't too spicy. The jerk flavor wasn't overpowering the pasta as a whole like most places. My friend cleared his whole plate. The wings were delicious, they were fried hard. I got hot honey and you could tell it's not just the bottled hot honey. The flavor profiles were there just some of my breading on my chicken was missing lol but it still got ate. The star plate I believe would be the fried fish. It seems to be the same breading that is on the chicken, but it was flaky. It was crispy. The sweet potatoes were really sweet and sticky with the marshmallows. The corn bread now... cake. 10/10. I would buy a pan of this no questions. The music was a vibe. The people working were so nice and accommodating. The drinks are strong. Everyone went above and beyond. I love it here.

Yelp
Delicious! Great service! Cozy location. Had an amazing experience at Suga and Spice. Walking in I wasn't sure what to order but the amazing staff recommended we scan the QR code and browse the menu but he suggested a few items. All items we tried were so fye!!! The Mac and cheese... listen... it'll blow your socks off. I had jerk crab cakes and curry cabbage (omgggg). My family had chicken which looked so good. Had the homemade lemonade. Whew. Just try t all. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
The food was great! The customer service was very good, the person that helped us gave recommendations since it was our first time here. They have freshly squeezed flavored lemonades and they are delicious!!

Yelp
We wanted some takeout on a rainy Saturday evening and decided to try Suga & Spice since it's about 5 minutes from our house. The restaurant is on a busy strip that has ample parking in the back. We went inside to place an order an and we were met with a pretty casual set up with a walk up order space, small bar and about 15-20 tables. The woman at the counter was friendly and offered to explanations of the menu. We ordered to go. My partner got a crab pasta and I opted for Jerk Chicken with cabbage and pepper jack Mac n cheese. My partner loved his pasta but noted it was really spicy, he was sniffling the entire time he ate. The jerk chicken was 6 party wings that fell off the bone, while I thought the flavor was great I didn't realize it was just party wings. The greens and cabbage were an awesome combo, I felt the portion could have been larger. I didn't care for the Mac n cheese because it had way too much butter and not enough cheese. While I appreciated the flavors and ease of ordering and picking up I feel that the prices are a little bit on the expensive side considering the casual nature of the restaurant.

Yelp
Locally owned black business in Hyattsville. Located right off the street near the chipotle, if you blink you might miss it but this is NOT a place you want to miss. There is a small bar area that seats about 5-6 which is a little small but the ambiance makes you feel like your at your favorite pub. There is a little seating and walk up orders are taken at a small window below the menu. Customer service was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. If you want to bring a group: Came here to celebrate a birthday, size wise I really wouldn't recommend a party larger then 15-20. That will mean that no one else can sit inside the restaurant. ( besides the bar) There are no waiters, you order your food at the walk up as if you were going to carry out and then they will bring it out to you. I LOVED THAT! It solves that "who's playing for who" and "can we split the bill" issue. The music was a mixture or current and past hip hop and it was loud but not too loud for us. The food portions were large, the drinks were delicious, I am very pleased we chose this place. We had Candied Yams Curry Cabbage, Hot Honey Salmon, Not Ya Mommas Pasta, Oxtail Hawaiian Rolls, Pepper Jack Mac, Jerk Salmon, wings, greens, crab Chicken Wing Dinner, fries, and our food came out hot, fast and delicious. Oh I did have shrimp and grits. If you e followed me for a while you know I eat that everywhere. This wasnt this best...but with so many other things to eat...lesson learned..Overall everything was good.

Kierra H.

Yelp
Service is kinda slow for eating in but the food was amazing. Price is okay for the amount of food, spent $54 total. They do play music but nothing too entertaining happening. Favorite thing was the Mac and cheese and Hawaiian French toast. Chicken was okay and didn't care for the potatoes. My son had the chicken fingers and fries he said they were good w/ the hot honey sauce I think. The mango lemonade was kinda sour for me I added so water it was perfect, my son enjoyed the strawberry flavor. Recommended. Fresh, delicious food

Yelp
The place looks chill, but the music was blaring for a bit... but it got turned down after a while. I waited for someone and then sat at a table and looked over the menu. You can look at it on a screen that's pretty high up, or scan the QR code. I decided to go the light route and get the jerk honey shrimp deviled eggs and curry cabbage. So here's my take on these two dishes: 1) Jerk honey shrimp deviled eggs -- there were five eggs, and one was plopped over when it got to the table. Taste-wise, pretty salty... the egg on its own didn't have much flavor, but I appreciated the sweetness from the honey that dumbed down the salt a bit. 2) The curry cabbage was very yellow, but I can't say that I really got much curry flavor from it. Tasted more like regular cabbage than anything, but I was happy to get my veggies in! Now, I did taste my friend's pasta dish and that really hit! The crab, the flavors of the pasta and sauce... yes. I would say that the real stars of my visit were the owners, who I had the pleasure of meeting. They were super hospitable and so open to honest and constructive feedback. I always appreciate seeing that! Turns out they own quite a few local spots... I hope they do well! Also, I hope they continue to keep the music at the volume it was at when they turned it down a notch.

Cearia D.

Yelp
Food is pretty good spicy but good lol a bit overpriced but what isn't nowadays they don't have drinks anymore that was disappointing and I'm not sure why. The inside of the restaurant is a nice size but you do have to order your food first and then sit at a table and wait for your food to be done. They did accommodate my family and took some orders at our table which was nice. Overall it was like a 6.8/10

Karen W.

Yelp
I ordered the Oxtail Rasta Pasta, $37 for pasta and seasoning with no Oxtail meat. I returned the pasta and waiting for a refund from management. I was told since I paid cash only the manager could refund my money.

Brittany A.

Yelp
Food was delicious. I had the salmon, with Mac and cheese, and a corn bread muffin. I also had the watermelon lemonade. The salmon was sweet with a hint of spicy. Perfect combination of Suga and spice. I'm really particular about Mac and cheese. My mom makes the best Mac in the world and I'll see this one was good! The pepper jack in there was spicy. I kept coughing and I'm pretty sure it was the mac and not the salmon. Delicious though. The muffin was also moist and tasty. It was also pretty big. I saved half of this to have for a snack later and it did not disappoint. The lemonade was also good. Super sweet though. I drank some out of the container and filled it up with water and it was better but it was good. Service here is interesting. Not bad. All the guys were friendly. Especially the guy taking the order he made suggestions and everyone was chatting with us. All very polite. I may sound petty but uniforms would really change my feelings on this. I interacted with 2 employees ( I think) and I wasn't sure if they were employees. They kind of just came up and were talking to us and I had no idea if it was just someone coming to talk or if they worked there. They didn't give me my drink initially so I ended up waiting for it and I didn't get it until after my food. We were trying to make eye contact to find out why my friend's order didn't come out with the rest of ours. At one point we asked for something and the guy made a face like had a big smile ( like phony) and then turned and made a face. It seemed playful and funny but .. with the food being as expensive as it is I expected something a little more put together. I'm not going to say upscale but matching uniforms ( or maybe all wearing black shirts or something) and really would have made this experience better. The ambiance was definitely not up to par for the cost of the food. Not bad just didn't match. You order at the counter like it's take out and they bring it out to you when you let them know what table you're going to sit at. 35$ for a plate of food another 7$ for the bottle of lemonade (no liquor) was pricey for it to be a couple of dudes moving around the restaurant in and out and kind of all over. I guess comparing this to food in NY is what's throwing me off. When food is this pricey there's definitely a fancier ambiance. Anyways, the food here is tasty. The vibe is very casual even though the prices don't reflect that.

Lynette H.

Yelp
Nuf flava and all the right spice in this spot! Of course true to Caribbean nature they ran out of liquor and some menu items - but the service was off the charts! From the greeting at the door the attentive pleasantry the suga is definitely in the building. The food was Ah-mazing every bite left me wanting for more. I tasted the southern and the Caribbean infusion with every bite. Bravo Suga and Spice. #enjoygoodpeople

Cindy W.

Yelp
I have not been to the physical location but I have been ordering from here for a long time! About once a month on our payday Friday, me and some of my teacher friends order from here! I love the hot honey salmon, the sweet potatoes, the greens, the cornbread muffin, the pepper jack Mac and cheese, the bread pudding, deviled eggs and the flavored lemonades. The collard greens with cabbage is so good! The crab Mac and cheese is delicious! The devil eggs are perfection with fried shrimp on top. Love it! My coworkers love the fish fry Friday and greens as well. I wish the bread pudding had raisins and walnuts! That would take it up a notch! I didn't care for the lobster Mac and cheese. I would prefer that there were bits of lobster in the Mac and cheese rather than the overcooked lobster tail. I didn't care for the peas and rice as well as the shrimp fried rice. Other than that, I would definitely give this place a try in person soon! In the meantime, we are going to continue to do ubereats!

Yelp
I stopped in to meet my cousin for a quick lunch on an early Friday afternoon as she speaks very highly of this place. I honestly walked right past the location because from the outside it's dark and frankly looks vacant. I doubled back, open the door, entered, and it looked even more vacant! All of the tables and bar seats were empty without a single customer in the restaurant. I was quickly greeted by Saquon the bartender and seemingly the only employee working. To the left of the restaurant were messy half opened boxes everywhere with an out of order sign on the restroom door. The decor was cute but it felt like I was having lunch in a carryout which I don't sit & eat in those. We started with Hot Honey wings which were good but extremely saucy making it way too messy to eat comfortably in public and much better suited to eat in the privacy of your own home. My cousin had the Oxtail's while I ordered the Hot Honey Salmon. She absolutely loved her meal but I was underwhelmed with my overcooked salmon, that was again soaked in sauce and still dry from being cooked too long. The Candied Yams and Pepper Jack Mac and Cheese were just ok, and nothing to brag about at all. Saquon the bartender was awesome and I would return JUST for him if I'm in that neck of the woods again. **FYI When I paid the tab and left a tip my cousin informed me that another bartender on a previous visit said that the staff does not actually receive any tips and that it goes to the restaurant (for reasons unknown). Our bartender confirmed this to be true. I have seen this become a thing at new restaurants but it's explained why on their menus not just rumored. IJS

Yelp
Amazing experience. The service was great. Tried the Oxtail Hawaiian rolls. Great portion size very tasteful full of flavor. We also order the lemon pepper wings. They were cooked well they was able to accommodate us with all flats. The lemon pepper was different saucy but amazing. I order the jerk crab cake dinner came with two sides. I had the candied yams and greens and cabbage. Both sides were amazing. Greens had a little spicy kick. The jerk crab cakes were the highlight tasteful with the jerk on top to give it that spice kick. Overall the ambiance was great came in playing good music. Would definitely recommend. 5/5

Khary J.

Yelp
The food was exceptionally well. The guy that was working today was also very helpful and accommodating. I will be back the music and vibes were nice and chill.

William S.

Yelp
I ordered Jerk Chicken, Pepper Jack Mac and Cheese, and Candied Yams through Uber eats. It came out pretty good! I would recommend to anyone looking for a good soul food meal!

Sarah W.

Yelp
We have been wanting to come here since they opened and we finally got here! The food was absolutely delicious - I had the lemon pepper shrimp with honey drizzle and my dining partner had the jerk salmon with crabcake. We both ordered sides of curried cabbage, and peas and rice. Absolutely DELICIOUS! The staff were amazing. They were attentive, patient, and responsive. They clearly care about making sure their customers have a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Looks around. Are you serious? A new restaurant in the Arts District? Okay let me start here, who is the Chef? Let's get that known immediately. Second, how dare these less than subpar reviews exist! Third, where's the belt? As a matter of fact, just go to time out! What you have done here is just nasty and offensive. I mean my poor kitchen will get no love now that your establishment is here. I don't even need to cook anymore. Nope, y'all might as well just call me by first name cause you have my money! Robbed me blind today. I'm full but I wanna go back and order seconds just out of pure greed and gluttony. Sweet Lord forgive me. Yup. I'm putting you down on my bills list cause yup, you got it. Congratulations to the owners! I hope you feel the love. I'll be back and imma ask for you to, I need a hug! A picture! Something! I'm an ELITE, trust me this is a spot you don't want to pass up! Yes come in, yes order everything on the menu! Off to take a nap, ooooooooh boy this food has me tired! Excellent pure Excellence! Please thank your mother for your existence cause you did that! Oh... and pssst if people can't afford your food, let them go somewhere else. You got people who appreciate your food and can pay with no issue! Me: I am people The complaints are from people who complain about prices. Food is Delicious.

Yelp
Had a chance to swing past this place Sunday afternoon and I'm certainly glad I did. I ordered the French toast hawaiien rolls & chicken wings. Unfortunately they don't have a bar yet so while went and had a mimosa at Bus boys & poets while I waited. I got a text alert when my food was ready to pick up. The French toast was so soft and sweet and the chicken was juicy and nice and crunchy. The food was the bomb . This place will definitely be a hot spot once they add the bar. You

Yelp
I always get the lemon pepper hot honey shrimp when I come here and it's always delicious

Yelp
LISTEN. THIS PLACE IS A HIT. The jerk salmon cheesesteak is delicious, the portion of fries are plentiful, the yams are HITTIN AND BUSSIN!! The oxtail Hawaiian rolls are so good. And the chicken wing dinner with Mac and cheese and rice and peas are Caribbean approved. Definitely will be back!!

Aristose G.

Yelp
i ordered through grubhub for the first time because of the reviews that i have seen on social media. i thought i was going to get an authentic caribbean meal. when i went to try my food (jerk chicken dinner with cabbage and collard greens and peas and rice for my side) it was bland. nothing had seasoning. i am highly disappointed. especially when everyone raves about Suga & Spice

Sarah O.

Yelp
I had a great experience we did delivery do I'm not sure about the ambiance. We got the oxtail sliders which comes with 4 and the jerk pasta. Everything was so good and flavorful. I'm very accustomed to spice so nothing was necessarily spicy to me maybe the pasta had a twing of spice but regular jerk pasta spice I would say. The oxtail sliders came with a "dipping sauce" really just the juices from the oxtail in a container. Also the Suga and spice wings not pictured were sooooo good. They were still crunchy upon arrival great flavor a little bit of a kick to it. I would love to meet the owner and try some more food to review !

Carrie M.

Yelp
Ordered the baked jerk chicken with cabbage and greens via UberEats. It was a bit one note....overly spicy but not a lot of dimension with the flavors. The food was fresh, still hot and plentiful, and packaged well....like I said just lacked flavor for me. Would give them another shot to try something different though.

Nicole R.

Yelp
SO disappointed. Over $70 down the drain. I ordered the lamb chops with crab fries and collard greens for lunch from uber eats. The lamb chops were super dry and overcooked. The appeal of lamb chops are the tenderness. Lamb is already tender so for the meat to be tough means that they were overcooked. I only ordered from here because the lamb chops I usually order from Miss Toya's were unavailable. This was in no way a suitable replacement. Finding out that these two restaurants are affiliated makes this even stranger. Let Uber know that you wish to add in options for cooking temperatures. For many people, cooking meat well done, is the perfect way to ruin their meal. The collards were well seasoned but dry as well. I only finish the crab fries I threw the rest of my food away.

Came in on a Tuesday evening and got lemon pepper shrimp with Mac and cheese and yams. It was decent. No complaints. I would say shrimp was 8/10. Mac and Cheese 7/10. Yams 7.5/10. Parking around here isn't the best so I would pick up and go. The servers/staff were very nice.

Yelp
Suga & Spice has been on my list for some time. I was so excited to see it available on Doordash and hoped the quality wouldn't impact during delivery. I was pleasantly surprised that's everything was delivered warm and tasty. I can't seek to the ambiance but I think the packaging was great for delivery. Apps: We ordered the Hawaiian oxtail rolls - 3/5. If you don't want to commit to a full oxtail meal, but want that Caribbean flavor, this is the way to go. The sandwiches are tasty and came with a small container of sauce. I'm not giving full points because thought the flavor was on point, the bread was a little soggy, so by my 2nd roll, I was just eating the meat and skipping the break all together. We also go the deviled eggs topped with shrimp - 4/5. This was the bomb. Very tangy like a deviled egg should be with a crispy jerk shrimp on top. It's the kind of app I would never think of putting together, but I'm glad I tried. Entrees: We each got chicken wing platters, mine fried with S&S sauce + Mac and cheese and rice and peas as my sides. 5/5. His with baked jerk wings + cabbage and greens and rice and peas for the sides. 4/5. I was surprised to see the jerk wings were only available as based or fried. I'm used to grilled, so the based wings tasted like stewed chicken rather than a traditional jerk wing. We each thoroughly enjoyed our entrees. I especially liked the Mac and cheese and will be making another trip just to order that again. Overall, quality, price and presentation give this place a 4/5 in my book. Would recommend.

Yelp
came for a little solo date not too long ago and though very similar taste to their sister restaurants miss toyas, pop boy jim's, etc., their menu is a bit more creative. i enjoyed this experience. they will run you for your money however! the eggs were really good, the oxtail hawaiian rolls were good but kind of soggy. i also had the "not yo momma" pasta, which i unfortunately don't have a photo of, but was delicious! but the mango cooler which i originally got i had to spit the tiniest first sip out bc it was insanely sweet and sugary. i really dislike lemonades like that. they're located in rather one of the busier parts of hyattsville but w a shared parking lot around the back. service was good--didn't take more than maybe 15-20 mins to come out. it's just unfortunate that one of the employees was tryna get at me and got mad when i chose to respond...it shouldn't be hard to enjoy a simple solo meal as a lady. if i ever return, i hope to not see him again.

Yelp
I loved this place. The food tasted like my Jamaican Auntie knew I was coming over and she wanted me to be fed a meal made with love. The salmon was perfectly baked. Yams, sweetened just right and baby, these jerk crab fries were to die for! I was happy to also have a premium margarita. I told the bartender to surprise me and it was delicious. He even gave me the extra for the shaker (usually does not happen) for me to drink as well. I would for sure be back! I only gave 4 stars, because there were no true meatless option for the veggies. My girlfriend got the greens and she said they were good! They're just cooked with chicken broth and I am pescatarian. The ambience is decent. It's a small restaurant, seat yourself vibes.

Yelp
We came here based on a review from an IG food blogger a couple months ago. We were really excited especially since good Jamaican food is hit or miss in the DMV. Let's just say she must've gotten special treatment. At the time we went they did not have table service, so you made your order at the register, waited for your name to be called, picked up your food and find somewhere to sit. This place is not authentic Caribbean in the slightest bit. Maybe we just went on an off day but just because you throw jerk seasoning on everything does not mean it's Jamaican or authentic. We got the crab fries which had too much going on; jerk crab, old bay dusted fries, doused in sauce. S&S wings had to be the best thing we tried. The crisp was there and the sauce was good. The not your mama's penne was okay. The penne was over cooked and falling apart, the sauce was watery, and overall not that good of Rasta pasta. The hot honey salmon was dry though drizzled with sauce. Mac and cheese was okay and I would skip the rice and peas. The flavor was meh and I was a bit disappointed that they gave us the bottom of the pan (dried, burnt bits) along with it. The chances of me coming back are slim to none, and if I do I'll stick with the wings.

Yelp
I have always eaten from this place but this last visit my mac n cheese had a centipede in it at first I thought I was part of my food and was about to eat it then I noticed all the tiny legs underneath it. This never has happened to me but I will NEVER eat from this place again.

Yelp
I'm always skeptical when it comes to restaurant that serve Caribbean food because not all Caribbean foods are created or cooked equally. However, with the southern twist, I can get with that. Came to brunch with the girls for black restaurant week and I will put my stamp of recommendation approval here. It's pretty cool the menu is self serve and you can order as much as your heart desires and close your tab out at anytime. It's perfect for those group of people that are not fans of splitting the bill evenly. My friend got the deviled eggs with jerk honey shrimp 8/10, for my entree I got the Hot Honey Fried Chicken And Blueberry Pancakes 9/10 and my other friend got the stuffed jerk salmon 10/10. Great place to check out and I'm looking forward to going back

Yelp
My experience at Suga and Spice was GREAT!!! I was warmly greeted by the bartender Lexii and she is singlehandly the reason that I'll be coming back. All of the staff were pleasant but her friendly, personable nature made all the difference. The food and drinks were also bomb! I had the oxtail rolls and the wings *chefs kiss* and that Henny Blossom? Run, don't walk to go get that from my girl!

Yelp
The food lived up to expectations--definitely the best Jamaican cuisine in the area. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I LOVED their food here. Was looking for some Jamaican food takeout and I found the jackpot. I got their Suga & Spice shrimp with Mac & Cheese and Greens. I really enjoyed it. All of the food was well seasoned and fresh. Mac and cheese had really good flavor and texture and not burnt like other places. They were heavy on their signature sauce for the shrimp which I was happy about. The place I believe is turning into a full sit down restaurant/brunch spot but definitely gave more carryout vibes but their seating and everything in to go containers. I would definitely go back again and try something different. I'm still giving 5 stars because the food was really good BUT I really wished they were better at communicating for catering inquires. Food was so good I wanted to cater for an event, yet after contacting them for 2 weeks, I got no response from owner, which was disappointing.

Yelp
This spot is amazing food! Flavor and everything was on point. I was recommended to swing by and they did not disappoint. It's a must stop any time I'm in the area

Yelp
Hidden gem in Hyattsville "art district" serving an original mix of Caribbean-Southern Black cuisine. Expected it to be good but whew was it great. Ordered the shrimp deviled eggs, oxtail sliders, baked jerk wings w/ sides of Mac and sweet potatoes, plus the penne pasta. My favorites so far would have to be the deviled eggs and the jerk wings(spicy in the best way possible). Staff was very friendly and they were playing some great music while we waited for our to go order. Everything tasted great and we will be back to check out the bar and HH specials. They also have Sunday brunch and a taco Tuesday event!
