Sugah Please Breakfast Brunch Bar

My friends and I just visited this establishment after going to Sista Strut (breast cancer walk) this morning because it was walking distance from the Spirit of Detroit. Well, I am so happy we did! We were greeted by a pleasant young lady behind the bar. We did have to wait due to a having a large party (9 ppl) but it was well worth it. I ordered a peach old fashioned (I forgot the actual name from the menu) and not only was it good but it was strong! Lol Unfortunately, I did not get to really indulged because I ate a breakfast sandwich at the event. I did however order the grits and the pork bites and babbbbyyyyy! My friend also let me taste a piece of her omelette which had shrimp, crab, feta, etc and it was sooooo good! Our waitress was very attentive and even the manager/owner checked on us. I will definitely be back!

This place was recommended by all 3 of the hotel receptionists I asked. It is in a great location in the business district, just a block from the Riverwalk, and directly below the free people mover stop. The menu is simply laid out and the menu is very clean. I chose the Ethiopian coffee (coffee of the day). It came in an old school plain white diner mug and made me miss simpler days. I chose the cinnamon roll French toast. When it came out, they had blueberries on it which the menu did not show. What a delightful treat! The server recommended a half order so that I could get a side of protein. I chose the bacon. When it arrived, it was a perfect crispiness. I really enjoyed the vibe with jazz playing in the restaurant. I enjoyed talking with the server as she had a lot of good advice and history of the local area. She made recommendations for dinner that I will definitely pursue. Today was their 1 year anniversary ❤️ the food was delicious 😋. I had the catfish and grits I added shrimp. It was some of the tasty grits the catfish fillet was seasoned the shrimp had just the right amount of Cajun. My wife had they're breakfast platter with a side of pancakes. The sausage and potatoes stole the show. They had live music I can't wait to come back and eat.

Stopped in at Sugah Please for brunch and it definitely lived up to the hype! I ordered the chicken wings and French toast, and it was delicious, perfectly crispy wings paired with sweet, fluffy toast topped with fruit and cream. Such a great combo. The atmosphere was lively, and I really enjoyed that they had a DJ spinning music, which gave the brunch a fun vibe. Service was a little on the slow side, but to be fair, the place got busy very quickly. Overall though, the food and the energy made it worth the wait. Would definitely come back next time I’m in Detroit for another brunch experience!

This newly opened restaurant is for sure a winner! The food was delicious! We were very satisfied with the entire experience. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated. The waiter kept us informed about what was ordered. He was very intentive. The atmosphere was inviting and the music and chatter was at a level where you could still have a conversation. We sat a few minutes after our meal. We will definitely be back again. I recommend this restaurant for sure to anyone that come into the downtown area.

First visit at peak time, Saturday October 11 after the walk to support Breast Cancer Survivors. Outside the restaurant smelled like bacon & sugar. Inside was even better. We were not part of the walkers but really enjoyed the festive atmosphere & excellent coffee! Sugah has its own roast. Really good. Breakfasts have the New Orleans influence. The crab & lobster omelette is delicious. The egg basted in bacon on a croissant was soooo good. Sugah is on an architecturally beautiful corner in downtown Detroit. The People Mover rounds the corner above Sugah. Stop for the coffee. Stay for the food. Ask for Tamika & AC for excellent service 👍

I’m come to this location over 5 times and it is either a hit or miss. Atmosphere: Reaps of marijuana Food: Overpriced, inconsistent, missing Cajun flare Service: Subpar, the business never answers the phone for pick up orders. Gratuity is automatically approved at 20% regardless of the service. I paid $35 for 1 piece of catfish and 1 cup of grits. Unacceptable! The value of food vs money lacks tremendously.

We had a bit of a wait but it wasn't too bad. The gentleman at the host stand was so friendly and funny and we felt immediately welcomed. Service was very slow, but the server was friendly and was great at answering our questions. The drinks were phenomenal, the Pretty Please Peach Old fashioned is STRONG but good, the Sugah Blue was even stronger. But that's the point right? All of the food was very good, of particular note were the grits, French toast and pork belly bites.

The food was amazing. The service was very slow. The bartender was very attentive and polite. The hostess not so much which is sad as she had the most amazing smile. I did like the ambiance a lot. I will come back for a round 2 to see if I can raise these stars!

Went here for my birthday. They wouldn't seat us until the whole party was there. It was three of us and we were waiting for one person. The restaurant was slow since brunch was winding down. I asked could we be seated because I wanted to order drinks and food for the table since it was my birthday. They would not let me sit at the table, but insisted that we sit the bar even though the restaurant was nearly empty. That really frustrated me so I ended up actually not ordering a drink even when we were seated. The food was delicious good, but the portion sizes did not match the prices. The food was way too expensive for the small amount of servings you were given. I would try to go back here but not during the weekend brunch, maybe during a lunch special or dinner special but I don't think paying $22 for a slice of toast and three wings and $24 for the equivalent of a plate of grits is acceptable. The food being delicious is the only reason for there not being a lower rating.

9am on a Thursday - just needed a breakfast boost lol and ordered a grand mimosa per bartender recommendation. I specifically mentioned I'm not a sweet taste cocktail type a lady yet he insisted it's not.....guess what? It is. Needless to say $20(it was a full glass). Gratuity included.

The food, service and ambience were all a 10/10! I really wanted to try a new breakfast spot and I'm so glad we did. I think the previous reviews may have been when the restaurant 1st opened because that was not our experience at all! My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our food and our server. All the staff were very pleasant and assisted us along with our server. Their team work really took it up a notch with our experience....and the food..BABY! Those were some of the best potatoes I've ever had in my life, so flavorful and I didn't have to add any seasoning, just hot sauce lol. My baby said his shrimp and grits were phenomenal, full of flavor and grits like no other. Shout out to the chefs! If you guys haven't checked this place out yet, please give it a try! Oh and our server Len was awesome! Can't wait to come back and thank you for having us side note- I never leave reviews so this one is truly from the heart!

I love supporting minority owned businesses! This brunch spot is not only in a great location it has a great selection of food. The music was great the entire time we dined and loved the decor. I don't remember my servers name, but she handles our party of 7 with ease. Definitely recommend and I'll absolutely be returning to enjoy more fish & grits!

Awesome brunch & breakfast spot - their grits and catfish/blackened salmon dish is amazing. They also have an incredible peach cider beverage and a nice fruit platter side. Service also extremely attentive. Interior ambiance very stylish with plenty of seating, including at a bar where you can watch TVs (one was showing Delicious Destinations - Bizzare Foods). Highly recommended!

Very solid spot for brunch/lunch and I'm so glad they're downtown - we needed a spot like this! Prices are fair and food quality and service was great. Everything was highly seasoned, and I'd return specifically for the fried green tomatoes and seafood gumbo. Everything came out hot and freshly prepared; the crab cake was tender and full of crab meat, and I don't think I've ever had better fried green tomatoes - the perfect texture and flavor. The shrimp and grits looked amazing, and even the meat lover's omelet looked good. I think they could upgrade their coffee offerings to include espresso drinks, but they just opened, so maybe that's on the horizon. We were greeted warmly and seated right away, our server was attentive, and the chef came over to speak to us. The decor is cute with comfy cushy chairs and vibey R&B music; a very pleasant environment. We will definitely be back!

I was pleasantly surprised by my meal at Sugah Please. I had read a few reviews that made me cynical, but my friend wanted to try it so we came. I'll be honest and say that the place wasn't very clean and the vases on the tables had dirty water with dying flowers, but other than that, it was great. I ordered the veggie omelet with a side of bacon and the omelet was amazing. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and seasoned great. It was packed full of veggies like spinach and peppers. The toast was also tasty as it seemed to be grilled on a griddle or pan rather than toasted. The meal was filling and kept me filled up most of the day. My friend also loved her food. The decor and furniture here is super cool with velvet chairs. I definitely recommend their food but they could really clean up the place for an extra star.

The food was DELICIOUS! There was a bit of a wait but well WORTH IT! The service was exceptional and the Chef(Eric) came out to apologize for the delay. Ambiance and decor is beautiful and the vibe and music are ON POINT!

The music was too loud for breakfast. We could hear the music before entering. We waited a few minutes to be acknowledged at the hostess stand. I had to walk to a group of employees talking for them to seat me. We sat down waited 5 minutes for someone to bring water. We were told our waitress would be with us. We waited another 5 minutes and left. It was one other person in the restaurant. They were not busy. The staff was standing around talking to each other instead providing service. Disappointed and won't be returning.

We came here for an early lunch while at a conference, and the food was delicious, although it was frustrating that the posted menu (online) was quite a bit different than what we got when we arrived. Overall, the food didn't disappoint. The ambiance is cool, however the service was quite slow. After asking for individual receipts on multiple occasions, we found ourselves waiting for them still after the end of our meal.

This experience was quite unfortunate........trying to find the place initially was a task in itself. The gps directs you to the front of the building on Jefferson. When in fact the actual entrance to the restaurant is on larned and Shelby. (No signs for direction to the venue) We waited 15 minutes to be greeted and 30 mins for our orders to be taken and waters to be dropped off at the table. The wait time for food wasn't as bad as the service, however, when the food did come out half of it was cold! When the food arrived we had no napkins or silverware to eat. In the midst of all this chaos customers were leaving because they were seating people and no service was being provided. They also take automatic gratuity from each check. In my opinion the service wasn't worth the tip. Overall this experience was a 3/10 I would never recommend to anyone

Great restaurant in Downtown Detroit. We were seated quickly, food was great and our waiter, Darius, was super cool and checked on us throughout our meal. The Peach Cider was so great that I bought a bottle to bring home

I really really liked Sugah Please. I'm a seafood brunch guy, and if you factor in portions, price and quality, I think it might be my favorite seafood brunch spot that I've tried in Detroit. We had the Blackened Salmon and grits and it was one of the best brunch meals that I've had in the city. The grits were fantastic. These were not lumpy, mealy, bland grits. These grits were incredibly creamy and flavored with a slight bit a of cheese that I loved. I could've easily gotten a plate of grits and been happy and full. They are the best grits in the area in my opinion: The blackened salmon that came with the grits was awesome as well. You got a great portion of it, it was flaky and fresh, and most importantly, it was seasoned thoroughly. When I get blackened salmon, I want some Cajun spice on there, and they did the job as well as I've seen a restaurant do it in the area. There was a nice crust of it and it made the fish taste extremely good. It's hard to find reasonably priced, brunch salmon in the area. This was the best I've had. It was incredible. Sugah is located right next to the Pontchartrain Hotel in a great area Downtown between Jefferson and Larned. I thought the inside of it was extremely well decorated and not bare at all. Loved the booths, they were extremely comfortable. Great spot to take a date. The service was awesome and every person working there was extremely courteous. Couldn't ask for a nicer staff. For a downtown brunch spot with a high end menu, I think Sugah Please is one of the best values going. It is very very well priced for what you get and it was one of the best spots I've been to in a while. I'll be back!

The food was good. The staff was were polite. The wait time could be shorter & we still had to wait for our 1pm reservation of 7 to be sat but in the end all was well. The host whom i think was the manager checked on us & eventually he sat at our table. I really enjoyed my gumbo, the peach honey wings and that amazing blackened salmon burger! Ill be back but first they need alcohol! If we'd known there was no liquor then we wouldn't have booked the place for brunch lol. Just being honest. They calm they are working on it & have the license... i didn't like that they have us plastic ware to eat w/. Especially since the apps came 12/28 w/ real silverware. So some had it, while others didn't! You can tell our waitress was trying her best. But she did forget to bring out my wing app right away w/ the others. She also just delivered the crab cake the birthday girl ordered but forgot that it was a crab Benedict and potatoes order.. FYI: The QR code from the menu didn't work & its 20% gratuity per table & they only allow 1 check/bill!

If you find yourself in Detroit, you need to go here at least once. This was seriously the most delicious breakfast I've had in a long time. I got the breakfast platter, which comes with 2 eggs, conecuh sausage (the star in my opinion), toast, grilled onions and peppers, and breakfast potatoes. Our waitress was extremely sweet and provided exceptional service. Also, the inside of the restaurant is so beautiful. We had a bit of a hard time finding the restaurant but it was worth the confusion! Definitely stop here for a yummy brunch.

While I really appreciated supporting a local business in Downtown Detroit, the service at Sugah Please really soured what could have been a sweet experience. From the start when we walked in, there was a line of people who were waiting with no one who was keeping track of who came when. After about a 15-20 minute wait, we were finally seated at the bar and placed our orders. The food itself was pretty good- especially the crispness of the chicken. However, one person's meal came about 20 minutes after the other, and when we asked about it, they said the waffle had been dropped so they were making another. However, when the food came the waffle was not very hot while the chicken was piping hot so I was a bit confused if they had just needed more time to make the food itself. The Brussel sprouts were very crispy and cooked well! There seemed to be an issue with the front of house service, as there were many people who were complaining because they had made reservations and they still had to wait. The server was nice but simply seemed too busy and disorganized. I do not think I would stop by again but glad I tried it!

I share this review with respect and a genuine desire to support Black-owned businesses, as I truly want to see us thrive. I was excited to finally try Sugah Please and visited on Father's Day, not realizing they were offering a special prix fixe menu. Once we arrived, we discovered it was a buffet that included catfish and grits, French toast, fruit, omelets, and (I believe) potatoes. While I don't mind paying for good food, $60 felt a bit steep for the limited buffet selection, especially since it didn't include a mimosa. Because of the limited options, we decided to leave and went to Central Kitchen instead. The following Sunday, I decided to give Sugah Please another try with my girlfriends. Knowing it was a weekend, we expected a wait, but were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at 12:30 p.m. and were told it would only be about 40 minutes. By 1:15 p.m., we checked in with the hostess again for an updated time, but she informed us she needed to ask the manager, who was inside the restaurant. We continued waiting, but by 2:00 p.m., we still hadn't been seated. When we finally spoke with the manager, we were told that only one server was working because the other one left, which caused a major backup. I found it surprising that there was only one server on a busy Sunday, especially with so many guests waiting. At that point, we made the decision to leave and once again went to Central Kitchen. It was disappointing, especially after paying $20 for parking across the street because I genuinely wanted to support this establishment. I hope the restaurant is able to address some of these service and staffing issues, as the concept and atmosphere have great potential.

We decided to go here on a Saturday afternoon hoping to catch some brunch. Well the place was just off the hook with people everywhere. The wait was very very long and I do believe the host was getting confused as to who came first and when and where she told people to wait and how long the wait will be. When we finally got a table the customer service was excellent. I wish they would have more on the menu to choose from but overall it was okay. The drink was really good that the waitress recommended but I just can't remember the name of it I think it might have been one of their specialty drinks. But overall it was a okay experience but I don't have to go back.

So this place was picked for a midday meet up for the ladies Today. We ordered a variety of things off the menu. Starting with drinks I had the espresso martini which did not come in a martini glass. The ladies had a incarcerated sangria and the other guest in the party had a sugah blue. The incarcerated sangria was tasty . The sugah blue was too much alcohol but if you like that sort of thing then you will like it. The martini was good but not coming in a full real martini glass was tacky and gave you very little of a drink . The food that was ordered was the mushroom burger which I was told was tasty. The catfish and grits were ordered the salmon Mardi Gras pasta and the Caesar salad with blackened salmon added. The gumbo and peach barbecue wings. Now we arrived at 3:45 was told it would be a 40 minute wait which turned into a hour and 15 minute wait. The place was not even packed but understaffed. The waiter came over after fifteen minutes of us sitting at our table. Then the food took over a hour to come out and some food was even cold . The experience was horrible . The owner was there talking at the bar I noticed her from her pictures online . Customers were asking for a manager and she just walked away. Because they did not know she was the owner. This place has a lot of potential but the lack of care is shown in every aspect of this place . It's actually in a great location. But the service is beyond horrible the food was okay. Will never return or recommend. The ambiance was nice. Gratuity added to every bill.

Food is excellent. All of our food was excellent. There were 7 of us and every person's meal was prepared as ordered. The service was outstanding- personable and welcoming. The ambiance of the place was nice for a date or a family.

The food is great, but the service is awful. Busy, not busy, they don't know how to manage a restaurant. The owner came to our table to greets us and we told her about our experience, she said "I'm open to hearing how we can do better", but then she shut right down when we talked about the service and the staff. Especially the bar tender. I've never met someone with such an attitude. It took 52 minutes to get a drink. I don't think he had a formal training. He just knows how the make the drinks on the menu. Ask him to make anything else, and he has to look at the recipe on his phone. The add gratuity to each check regardless of the size of the party. I thought that was strange at first, but now realize why they do it. TIPs would be terrible for the servers without automatically charging them, because the service is so bad. This restaurant needs the Bar Rescue guy to come and help get it together.

I was excited to visit this restaurant after a rave review from a neighbor. We were a table of three with an out-of-town guest. The sausage in meat lovers omelet was over cooked, hard. Conversely, the Bourbon Street omelet and hot peach tea was very good. The one turn off was the water in the flower vase of week old flowers that was evident on all the tables. It was murky and seemed to attract flies. It was brought to the attention of server who also agreed.

One word: FLAVORFUL! If you're looking for food that actually has flavor, seasoned to perfection, and tastes absolutely delicious, well look no further. This is the place for you! The service was outstanding. This place makes you feel like you've teleported to a New Orleans establishment. The place is quaint. The music was perfect, drinks were good, and the dessert was to die for! 10/10 highly recommend!

Food was good , but for yall to take a party of 30 on a Sunday for lunch is unacceptable. A party of thirty is a catering job or a private party and close for that day. Or at least have the decency to stagger that party as not to over whelm the kitchen. They did say we would have to wait 30 mins for food , we sat at our table for an hour and half before we started receiving our food. They could have handled that a lot better.

Food was delicious, atmosphere very chill, and the service was amazing. Shrimp was so juicy and seasoned to perfection. The sweet potato cheesecake was decadent!

Customer service is AWFUL however if you can ignore that the food is AMAZING. They definitely cook with love they just need to find a way to hire more staff. We waited so long to be seated that we actually just seated ourselves. The servers are also elderly so I gave them grace. It also tickled me that everyone who came in after us sat themselves too because they were tired of waiting. I ordered catfish bites which are not on the menu but they were seasoned and fried to perfection. I also had the land gumbo which came out piping HOT & had all the flavors.

I visited this restaurant on a Sunday around 2p. I had a party of 4 (3 adults, 1 child). We were told it would be a 45 minute wait which was fine. We were seated around 40 minutes. The guy seating us told us the kitchen was backed up so it would be a wait.. we understood. Our server came out and immediately got our drink orders and came back to get food orders. After our orders were placed about 10 mins later she came out to let us know the cook said he was not making anymore orders and our food was not going to be made. We got up and left after being there a total of 1 hour and 15 mins to be told we basically were not being served. That sucked. I'm not sure what was going on but my eyes were burning, my mother's eyes were burning, and I heard the table next to us complain of the same thing. They did have a door cracked open-- but maybe there need to work on something with their ventilation. Also.. the cook and the manager (I'm assuming- he was the one who sat us) kept going out the cracked door letting it slam against the table. You can tell they were frustrated. I'm not sure if they were short staffed or what, but I think they should do better when in view of the customer. Also note- this is not a kid friendly place. No kids menu, high chairs, or booster seats. The menu options were solid, didn't seem too pricey to me. I would love to give them another try maybe on a weekday!

I wish it was an option for zero stars cause yall in there playing a dirty game. Let's just get into it cause it's a lot. First. Greeter didn't greet my friend she had to have a stare off until she finally was like good afternoon I want a table for 5. Strike 1. Strike 2. Takes 30 minutes to get 1 Coca Cola. 2 mocktails. And 2 actual drinks. And water. This prolly where we shoulda left tbh. But 2 out the 5 keep saying yall food is like THAT. Service just horrid. We'll get to that. Pet peeve of mine is when I try and order and stuff not available. Had my heart set on gumbo. Go to order. No gumbo for the day no pasta.. strike 3. Yall shoulda been out but ima team Player. We sitting across from an exit and they had a chair in the door to keep it open and Everytime somebody walk out it the door clank on the chair loud as hell. That was annoying. Then one of my friends like dang my eyes watering in here what's going on. 10 minutes later. Another friend say the same thing.... 10 minutes later. My eyes watering. All the while the manager running in and out the kitchen looking more stressed than somebody with 4 baby mommas. We ordered apps. We ordered real meals. It's gotta be an hour and a half that passed since we sat down... not a morsel of food. THEN the couple next to us abruptly leave. We like dang Why yall leaving? They like they just told us they not cooking no more food today. Por Que???????? We done been here so long doe we just KNOW we in the batch of food getting cooked. 2 of my friends asked 2 different people like our meal good right? They both say yes. 30 minutes later. Manager come to the table. Kirk like man just tell me the bad news. Do you know dog told us the cooks was refusing to cook and it wouldn't be no more food coming out? So you telling me I just sat in this smoke shop on my good Sunday for 2+ hours and yall not gon give me these fried green tomatoes at the least? Bro said but the drinks on us. Im sorry. Bro did you not think the 47 dollars worth of drinks was on you? You need to give me a voucher buddy! But that would only work if I was going back which I'd never do. I ain't even mention the arguing with the cooks on the manager side, the weird lady clearly nobody like there or the restroom being outta order. I cannot believe yall niggas.

I'm really disappointed to be writing this because I'm not someone who leaves negative reviews and this is actually the first bad review I've ever written but this experience was completely unacceptable. We arrived at 2:00 PM and waited 40 minutes just to receive our drinks. My cousin ordered a coffee and didn't receive it until an hour later. Our server let us know they were short-staffed at the bar where we were seated, which we understood, but the delays only continued. Our appetizers came out and were good, but after placing our food order, we waited over an hour and never received our meals. During this time, I noticed two other groups (the same size as ours or larger) were seated after us, fully served, ate their meals, and left, while our food still had not come out. Our server kept assuring us the food would be out soon, but by the time we had been sitting there for almost two hours, we were ready to leave. What was most frustrating was that management did absolutely nothing to address the situation. There was no check-in, no apology, and no effort to make things right. It honestly felt like they didn't care at all. Poor service can happen, but lack of accountability and communication from management is unacceptable. This was a terrible experience, and unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this establishment.

My family and I were invited here last Sunday for my uncle's birthday brunch. It was a large party and the experience started off wonderfully with our wonderful server Darius! Although his service, personality and overall attitude was very pleasant, friendly and professional! The experience at the restaurant was not it at all! Upon ordering our drinks, we were told there were no Short ribs, which everyone joked a lil about being disappointed but everyone was fine with it. But things started to not be funny after a while, when we ordered apps and starters, we asked for salads and was told there was no ranch dressing available either, ok cool, we picked alternatives. After some time had went passed, we hadn't even taken our entree orders, were a bit famished now after sittin so long, we are anticipating our salads to come out as a starter. So we finally inquire with the server, and he says "she didn't come out and tell yall, we ran out of salad too" and we are literally sitting there waiting for him to laugh and for the punch line but he was indeed not joking and that started the irritation for me because how are yall operating and out of simple things! And then no one even giving the common courtesy of letting it be known. When it came time to order our food, they were now all out of salmon! Which I would like to say the salmon bites were the only thing I enjoyed! The omelettes were trash, 1/3 of our table got their food first and was finished before the second half received theirs and the third half didn't even receive their food despite continuously being told it was coming shortly! With all of these issues going on, they just sent poor Darius out there to the lion's den to deliver the bad news over and over yet not one manager, owner, nobody came over and apologized for all of the inconvenience! They were pretty much serving the rest of the restaurant before us no matter who was seated first! Us being the bigger party, and being there for over 3 hours we should have taken some kind of priority! The manger not only didn't come offer any type of apology or remorse, they also didn't offer any credit or discount for the inconvenience, everyone was expected to pay full price and gratuity when we really walked out of that place still hungry and needing to eat! It was truly a disappointment because I had been wanting to try this place but never ever again for me!! I work too hard for my money to be devalued as a customer or to be wasting it on poor food and customer service. Thank you Darius for doing what you could to appease the situation but the owner needs to close down or do better!

I can't believe the terrible experience I had at that place! The manager/owner was so rude that it completely ruined our visit. It's shocking how someone in that position could talk to customers like that. I was looking forward to trying the food, but after that interaction, I wouldn't want to go back. Who would want to eat somewhere where they're treated like that? Unbelievable!

I'm struggling to rate this restaurant! If you follow my reviews you know that I adore Brunch! I love to day drink, take a nap, and go out for more adventures. We have been wanting to check out this location for quite some time. Having recently returned from NOLA, we were interested in this NOLA themed brunch. We arrived about 10 am. It was busy but not overly crowded. We were able to score seats at the bar which is how we like it. Unfortunately, we sat there for at least 15 minutes before being acknowledged at all. Then it was about 5 more minutes before we got some water. Another 5 before our drink order was taken. If you are going to charge premium prices, I expect premium service. I will say that our bartender did redeem herself in that she was very friendly. Bur the drinks were just so so. Definitely not $15 -$20 cocktails. The food was AMAZING though. We got shrimp and grits and the Bourbon Street Omelette which contained shrimp, crab, feta and spinach. The food was good, but the overall experience was underwhelming and a bit disappointing. Especially since we have been looking forward to this. I'm hoping they get it together. At this point I wouldn't come back. But I do want other people to check it out and see what they think.

I wouldn't recommend this spot. We came as a group of four for brunch and had a disappointing experience. Despite several open tables when we arrived, we waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Once we were finally at our table, it took another 20 minutes before a server came by to take our order. It seemed like they were understaffed, especially for a busy holiday weekend. The food was just okay--not enough to make up for the poor service.

Me and my homegirls came here for brunch and it was easily one of the BEST brunch experiences we've had in Detroit (we're from Columbus OH) The establishment itself was extremely cozy and clean and the staff was soooo friendly and the food was AMAZING! The chef even came out to talk to us! We will definitely be back if we're ever in Detroit and I suggest that y'all try it out too!

My server never came. Worse espresso martini I've ever had. Customer service beyond poor. Even though the manager was nice that doesn't make up for the poor staff. I hope this restaurant fixes its inner issues. .

SERVICE SUCKS !!!! The food was lukewarm , no rice for the Gumbo my daughter had rice in hers but it seemed like they scraped the bottom of the pot

I was in town for the holiday visiting from the DMV. It just so happened two other friends of mine from the DMV were also in town at the same time. One of them made a reservation for this restaurant and we were all excited to try it, knowing that it was new and Black-owned. Before I arrived late, my friends were already waiting for about an hour. I expected to see them already seated when I got there and when they were not I thought maybe the whole party had to be present. Come to find out, they just didn't have any tables available to accommodate those who had a reservation. They actually had a pile up of customers who were unable to be seated. There was another issue with items on the menu not being available. One of the hostesses came over and apologized to everyone for the inconvenience and they looked like they were trying to sort out a system to track those that were waiting in the proper sequence, but it didnt seem to be working out very well. We were being patient and understanding and we told the hostess that we would just go to the bar and order a drink while they sorted things out. She then informed us that they did not have their liquor license yet so we would not be able to order any alcoholic beverages from the bar. With a long wait time combined with the disorganization and then not being able to order a drink and chill at the bar as we continued waiting, we opted to leave and go elsewhere. Hopefully, they have things sorted out by now. I will probably try them again one day but no time soon.

It's sad to say, I can't say whether or not I would recommend this place but I think it's fair to say upon my arrival for breakfast I was informed the wait would be up to an hour and a half before being seats and maybe longer for the food. The restaurant had several tables open. I just don't understand. We have got to do better people.

My lady and I are real Foodies. We love trying new restaurants, maybe our experience in dining has raised our level of awareness on what it takes to have a good restaurant. This place was a terrible disappointment. Parking was frustrating, we were sat across from the kitchen door when plenty of available seats were abundant, I asked for lemon in my water they totally forgot. I literally had to tip my coffee cup ($3.50)on its side to get the attention of my waiter to refill, he forgot which brand drink my date and I had and handed us the wrong cups, the food was unremarkable, i ordered shrimp and grits $21 and my date had crab cake sandwich $26. At that price point you would expend quality not a rip off. The presentation was poor, the grits were flavorless, the crab cake could be bought at Kroger for $6. They have an excellent location, we love supporting minority owned businesses however DO NOT RECOMMEND SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY

Sugah Please we won't be back we waited for 30 plus minutes to be seated along with 10 other people. People who seated walked out, one young said she was waiting for 90 mins on her food. There's no hostess ti greet you and let you know if there's a wait. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

I recently had the pleasure of dining here, and I can confidently say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, creating the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed yet special meal.

First time trying Sugah Please and we went twice in a week. Service was friendly and helpful. Nice downtown location. We are pescatarian so we tried the catfish, shrimp and Salmon dishes. All were delicious and well executed. The catfish was crispy and flavorful. The shrimp were lightly breaded and tender. The salmon was grilled nicely. Portions were good for the price. The bananas foster french toast is a must! We ate too much so we ordered dessert to go. Do yourself a favor and order dessert!!!

My friend and I went on a random Monday, and they only had one server. Someone from the back had to come out to help. We had to ask for silverware, we didn't receive condiments, and my drink came out when I was pretty much done with my food. We waited about 45 minutes for the bill, and the list of issues goes on. I won't be back.

I was lead to this restaurant by IG _thebreakfasttour . I visited on the day of their grand opening unbeknownst to me. I had an opportunity to meet the owner who greeted me while I was sitting at the bar waiting for my daughter. Very classy lady with a warm and inviting smile. I love soul food and most of the times when I go out the cuisine is hit or miss (because I can cook) well the cuisine at this restaurant was definitely a hit. We enjoyed the catfish and grits. The grits were "chefs kiss" in fact everything we consumed was absolutely delectable. 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend. This brunch spot had a nice ambiance love the Mardi Gras theme. Go visit you won't be disappointed. Congratulations to the owner on this grand establishment. The service was outstanding.

We had a light meal and dessert everything tastes great! The Wait Staff & Hostess were delightful & awesome. The atmosphere is warm with great music. We are returning again to try some new brunch dishes that will fill our stomachs. The customers were laughing, singing and enjoying their meals. Everyone should visit this restaurant for breakfast, lunch or brunch!

Yall ima just be honest. I wanted to like this place more, but the service was just wasn't great. It took forever to get water, more coffee, napkins - really anything. The price on every menu item is 3-5$ too much, but I will say the food was delicious. The unfortunate part is I've been warned about the bad service prior & according to google Its a known thing & I just wish it wasnt the case. The staff is friendly & the inside of the restaurant is an absolute vibe. It has a lot of potential & I hope they iron out the kinks in the future.
