"This neighborhood staple is known for its cupcakes, tarts, and, of course, cookies. The brambles, European-style raspberry-filled tea cookies that can be ordered by the half dozen or the dozen, are a crowd favorite," - Celina Colby

Sugar Bakery on Centre Street holds a special place in my heart. Every year, I celebrate Mother’s Day by honoring the amazing mothers in my life with their delightful cupcakes. My mother’s favorite holiday was Mother’s Day, and one of her love languages was gift-receiving. After her passing, I wanted to continue her spirit of appreciation by creating a tradition. For the past 4-5 years, I’ve ordered ten boxes of half a dozen cupcakes each, hand-delivering them to ten incredible women I admire. The cupcakes from Sugar Bakery are simply exceptional. Each box is filled with beautifully crafted treats that not only look stunning but taste divine. The flavors are creative and varied, ensuring there’s something for everyone. From classic vanilla to indulgent chocolate, every bite is a testament to their dedication to quality and flavor. The staff at Sugar Bakery is always welcoming and helpful, making the ordering process a breeze. They genuinely care about their customers, which adds to the warmth of the experience. This bakery has become a cherished part of my Mother’s Day tradition, allowing me to spread joy and love to the wonderful mothers around me. If you’re looking for delicious treats and a place that understands the significance of celebration, Sugar Bakery is the perfect choice. Highly recommended!

I dropped off my vacuum at My Sweeper nearby and the Sugar sign on this store made my head turn. SUGAR, the confection side of the business, is a must see. Two customers in line told me they have been driving here from Quincy (35 minutes away) for years to purchase birthday cakes. That’s remarkable because Quincy itself is known for a few amazing bakeries itself. The customer asked me, “Have you ever had their Brambles?” So I tried one and you’ll have to do the same when you visit. It’s a fine shortcake like pastry shaped in a half moon filled with raspberry sauce. I ate one then bought 12 Brambles for a housewarming gift. What stood out about this place was the atmosphere of fun, love, and pride from the staff who couldn’t be more pleasant and efficient and the customers who knew exactly what they were in for. Then I tried the Cigar, a cinnamon, chocolate pastry with-a light lemon sugar coating. Flakey, and as good as it looks.

Utterly creative and beautiful inside and out, and everything tastes good too!!! You can’t help but appreciate the flowers and butterfly’s and creative care that went into the windows and walls as you approach, and the smell drew me in!!!! I really enjoyed the coconut and the ricotta Italian cookies, as well as the teenie pies (like, a dozen flavors of legit teenie pies: from key lime to blueberry to banana, with one real slice of banana at the bottom of the pie. So cute)!!!

The staff here were so incredibly lovely, and all their options looked great! After trying the famous brambles, I thought they were nice cookies, but not anything super special, just shortbread jam sandwich cookies. Still, would love to come back and try their other pastries!

Enjoyed pastries and chocolate strawberries. Love that many items are offered as smaller bites. Prices are not posted, which makes shopping confusing - especially for a pre-teen with limited allowance.

Sugar Bakery is the place to go for an event! The quality of the desserts is exceptional. The staff and manager Rachel were so friendly and professional throughout the whole process of making a custom order.

Everything in there looked delicious. I only got 2 lemon raspberry pastries which are my 😍. Overall I will be going back to this location and trying all the cupcakes they have to offer. Also, I would recommend if you have a sweet tooth for sure.

Before today, I definitely would give this place 6 stars if possible - the cakes are extremely good (I imagine everything rose is too, but we’ve only eaten cakes from here). I ordered a half vanilla/half chocolate cake on Monday for my daughter’s birthday. Today I got a call saying that they didn’t have any more vanilla sheets for the cake and wouldn’t be making any more, so the cake would have to be all chocolate. I don’t make cakes for a living, but I really don’t understand how that situation arises. Regardless, the change was forced on me - the person who called didn’t ask me what I would like to do about the order or offer some sort of compensation, just told me that they were going to change the order. Not acceptable. I cancelled the order later that day. This was a pretty bad experience, but I’m not gonna lie - my wife likes their cakes so much we will probably buy them again. Talk need to do better handling this type of situation, though.
