We have been to Sugar Factory twice now, and I like it, and my kids love it. But let's just get this out of the way: It can be pricey. That said, if you treat this restaurant as a cool place to get a celebratory dinner and/or dessert, then you will leave happy. If you visit thinking you'll drop in for a family dinner on a budget, then you will leave disappointed. Your expectations need to be adjusted before you step through the door.
I'll start with the desserts, because the place is called Sugar Factory -- you have to start with the sweet stuff. We got milkshakes for the kids, which had so much stuff on them that they're more like a dessert bar on top of a milkshake.
We got the Cookie Monster Make a Wish, which is cookies and cream ice cream blended with vanilla sauce, topped with whipped cream, a glazed donut, a chocolate chip cookie, and a cupcake with blue frosting, all served in a mug covered in chocolate frosting with cookie bits stuck to it.
Whew! If that sounds like a lot, it was a lot. I should have known, as this milkshake was classified as one of their "Insane Milkshakes," which lived up to its name. All of the milkshakes under that category of the menu are decadent, impressive, celebratory and totally Instagram-worthy.
We also got the Caramel Sugar Daddy Cheesecake milkshake, which was vanilla ice cream blended with cheesecake pieces, whipped cream, caramel sauce, a slice of cheesecake, Sugar Daddy candy and a rainbow lollipop, served in a glass covered with chocolate frosting and sprinkled with graham cracker crumbs. Again, it was a lot, it was impressive, and my kids totally loved them. You could see them smiling from across the room while they enjoyed their milkshakes.
I enjoyed the more reserved (in comparison) S'mores Hot Chocolate, which was hot chocolate topped with whipped cream, Hershey's chocolate bar pieces, graham cracker pieces and a marshmallow rim. The hot chocolate was SO GOOD. I have no patience for bad chocolate or packaged hot chocolate, and fortunately, this was not that. I could tell that this hot chocolate was made in house from quality chocolate. If you're in the mood for a remarkable great hot chocolate, the hot chocolate from Sugar Factory is it.
We have also had food from their savory menu, which is surprisingly good. I guess I went in with expectations that a place called Sugar Factory would put all their effort into their sweets, and the savory stuff would take a backseat. But the food that we had was really good and was presented well.
I got the Sugar Factory Rainbow Sliders for my kids to share, and they really enjoyed these. These are technically an appetizer, but a kid (or two) can make a meal out of them. It's five mini sliders, and they come with a little rubber duckie! And best of all, each slider is a different color of the rainbow. Apparently, the color doesn't change the taste of the burger bun, in case you're wondering for picky eaters.
From the Monster Burgers menu, we also got the Flaming Hot Cheetos Burger and the Waffle Breakfast Burger. The Flaming Hot Burger was sufficiently hot, and the burger patty was cooked just how we wanted it (medium well).
My Waffle Breakfast Burger was like eating breakfast for dinner! It's a fried egg, hash browns, gravy, sausage, bacon and cheese, all between two waffles. If you're in the mood for breakfast, this will satisfy that craving. All of the burgers are served with fries.
Besides being a restaurant, the Sugar Factory also has a little store where you can buy baked goods to go, like cupcakes, cookies, candy and Sugar Factory items. You can definitely just pop in and get a treat from their bakery, but if you want to sit down and enjoy a meal or a dessert, then you need to make a reservation.
