In one of life’s most difficult moments, this funeral center provided a serene, dignified space where we could honor and celebrate our loved one with grace. Despite the pain of loss, the care, compassion, and professionalism shown made it a truly comforting experience. The environment was beautifully maintained, and every detail was handled with respect and kindness. We wholeheartedly recommend this place to any family seeking a peaceful and meaningful farewell.

It is a very difficult time when you've lost a loved one. The funeral planning itself can be very intimidating. Anthony, Melinda, and the entire staff at Sugar Land Mortuary were so kind, understanding, compassionate, and professional. From the moment Anthony came to take my dad away in the funeral hearse, to the time I went back to to get dad's ashes, the staff has been so helpful. You will know what I am talking about once you speak to Melinda or Anthony. I highly recommend this funeral home and can't think of a better place to send off dad. My family has used Sugar Land Mortuary twice. Once in 2018 for my brother, and recently in 2025 for my dad. As a daddy's girl, I was absolutely broken beyond repair. The saving grace through all of this? Anthony. God gave him a calling to this line of work. He was so compassionate, answered all of our questions, and provided closure for my mom and I. Anthony is truly proof that God has angels on Earth. Thank you again, Anthony. You helped this grieving daughter tremendously.

Wow! All I can say is WOW!!! Sugar Land Mortuary and the staff are absolutely Awesome. First of all we passed it twice as it does not look like a funeral home, and the interior is even more exquisite than the outside of the building. We met with Anthony about a week before my mother passed, and he is the most kind, genuine, compassionate, and professional person. He guided us every step of the way, answered all of our questions, and did not pressure us to buy services that we did not want or need. He's just a really nice man. Although he was working with other families, he managed to make us feel very special. The attention to detail at Sugar Land Mortuary is second to none. In addition to Anthony, we also worked with Melinda who was instrumental in helping us to get a check mark in all the right boxes right up until the day of the funeral. My mother was a beautiful woman in life, and Sugar Land Mortuary followed suit in her final presentation. Sugar Land Mortuary is a one stop all inclusive facility. I felt their services were reasonably priced, and would definitely use them again, as well as recommend them!

Amazingly supportive, professional, and knowledgeable. Anthony was very familiar with traditional Vietnamese funeral rites and requirements. He walked us through step by step and made sure everything was considered and planned for. Lot course the venue is beautiful as well, but it was that experience and care that really made the difference for us.

It’s a genuine pleasure to write this review. We recently utilized Sugar Land Mortuary to facilitate the eventual burial of my Mother. There was a viewing here in Houston, then travel via Air to North Carolina, and lastly auto transportation to Wake Forest to bury. Through Sugar Land Mortuary, everything went without any issues! We utilized Sugar Land Mortuary in 2017 for my Father and no issues were realized in that transition either. The average person will most likely be distraught when trying to arrange for burial or cremation. Fortunately for us, Sugar Land Mortuary has an extremely helpful staff. They set up everything for us with minimal efforts on our part. So, we could do what we needed to do, grieve and support with family and friends. Christopher and Anthony, a dynamic duo for sure. Not only did Christopher let us know everything; he also handled any issues that came our way. Anthony was right on the spot when I was so anxious, I couldn't even tie my tie and also gave welcomed advice regarding dress code. Every time I called, Melinda answered the phone! It was nice NOT talking or pushing buttons through an auto-attendant... Although I sincerely hope I do not have to utilize their services in the near future, but if I do, I will be returning to Sugar Land Mortuary.

The excellent service that we received from Mr. Williams and his team at Sugar Land Mortuary was above and beyond all that I could have imagined. When I first arrived at the funeral home, I thought that I was in the wrong place. It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! When I went in and saw the décor and the level of detail that the staff puts toward their service, I immediately assumed that I could not afford it. But Mr. Williams and his staff was very accommodating to me financially and did not pressure me into more than I was willing to spend in honor of my deceased loved one. I was only interested in the cremation service and Sugar Land Mortuary treated that service like a 5-star funeral service. I highly recommend Sugar Land Mortuary for the proper burial or cremation of your deceased loved one. He will treat YOUR deceased loved one like it was HIS deceased loved one.

Sugarland Mortuary has a peaceful and serene atmosphere. A well-manicured property, with fountains at the entrance, created a welcoming and tranquil first impression. Inside, the venue was very spacious, with high ceilings, large doors, and artwork throughout with tasteful lighting and a consistent style throughout the venue. The private rooms, with their artwork and lighting, provided a peaceful setting for small groups to gather and share memories, fostering a sense of reflection. Even though the attendance exceeded the expected 75 people, the venue handled the larger crowd well the reception area was huge, with space for many to sit and enjoy the food. The foyer area became somewhat crowded at times due to the locations of the reception and service areas, causing a slight bottleneck. Even with the large crowd the venue had a feeling of stillness and quiet, offering areas for both communal gathering and private reflection. The restrooms were fully stocked with amenities like napkins, towels, and mouthwash. Parking was adequate, even with the overflow crowd. The staff provided excellent service. The doorman was attentive, and staff were readily available to assist guests. Really well done and proper service for an excellent young man.

A perfect place for your services when you have lost a loved one. Exceptional care, elegant facilities and excellent funeral directors. They are the best! They exude class and compassion and their attention to detail is impressive. If you use their catering, you'll find that the food is absolutely delicious and served beautifully. I can't say enough about how grateful I am to the entire staff at Sugar Land Mortuary.

My friend's grandmothers service was held here yesterday afternoon. All the staff were pleasant and welcoming to the family and all guests. The building is beautiful with enough parking and many available add ons. They had champagne for a toast to her life prepared for us just as the service ended. After the toast we were able to do a butterfly release near the fountain.

I highly recommend Sugar Land Mortuary for your celebration of life needs. Anthony, the funeral director, has the most amazing, compassionate, kind, and generous energy. He alone is enough reason to host your services here. But on top of that the building is gorgeous and luxurious inside. When I first pulled up I wasn't sure I was in the right place because it looked like a beautiful hotel or something from the outside. Everything inside is lovely and top notch. The staff is so attentive to detail and friendly as well. I have nothing negative to say about the team working here.

I am generally a very grateful person, but I usually do not do reviews. This is a very different experience that I must express my gratitude. The Staff at Sugarland Mortuary were the finest people that I have been around in a long time. Anthony Boyd was the very first person that I spoke with. The kindness in his voice sold me immediately. I was speaking to him from another state regarding my husband's sister who at the time was in the hospital and it had been determined that she was not going to come home. I told my husband that this was the place that we should select when the time came. Sugarland Mortuary was just wonderful. I will always remember Anthony Boyd. The owner was even just as generous as he is a very handsome man. They provided everything that I was looking for in the final care of my dear departed sister-in-law. The attendees at the service were just blown away by how flawless everything went. Everything about Sugarland is above board. It's not the dark and awful look that some mortuaries have. It is a very beautiful and well thought out place. I applaud everyone from Melinda at the front desk to the workers who made my sister-in-law more beautiful that I had seen her in a long time. I will end by saying that if anyone is in this position with a loved one, give Sugarland Mortuary your family member. I do not believe that you will be disappointed. They want you to be happy even though you are going through an immense amount of grief. I feel that Anthony Boyd is now a family member. Place looks elegant. Doorman started off great, opening door for guests, even without saying anything. Unfortunately, there was no consistency throughout the service, as he started chatting with receptionists or on the phone as guests poured in. Then he started yelling at kids' guests, clapping his hands in a loud manner, and shooing them away from the main lobby. It wasn't anything like these 4-5 yo kids were tearing up the place, just playing like kids normally do. The doorman needs additional training with hospitality and definitely needs to stop scaring guests' kids. Maybe talk to a nearby adult and ask them politely to tell the kids to simmer down, instead of randomly making loud noises and yelling at them, an inappropriate demeanor, especially for the occasion with grieving families.

First, the facility is absolutely beautiful. In a time of terrible grief it was nice to have such incredible support and guidance from Sugarland Mortuary. The entire staff was helpful, friendly, and very accommodating. Thank you very much !!

Grief and heartache is unavoidable when you lose a love one and the last thing anyone need to be concerned with is whether the place who is handling the homegoing celebration will do so adequately. Sugar Land Mortuary made the process so much easier and it was done with class, professionalism and care. We appreciate the patience shown to us on making sure everything was exactly how we envisioned and I dare to say they even exceeded our expectations! We love Melinda and the staff that supported us. The facility with the reception is amazing . I highly recommend you consider eloquently upscaling your home going with Sugar Land Mortuary.

This was a really nice funeral home. It's beautiful inside and outside. I liked how there is only one funeral that goes on at a time so it doesn't get overly crowded. Pricing was reasonable and the staff were very accommodating to our needs. There are lots of Buddhist funerals that go on here so they know all the traditions and how to proceed with our customs.

My family and I decided to use Sugar Land Mortuary for the visitation of my wife, Brooke. Anthony, the Funeral Director, was absolutely amazing with explaining all of the packages that were offered, kind in a time of grief, and attentive to all of the needs that we had for our loved one. At the end of the visitation, we were having trouble fitting all of the flowers that everyone sent in our vehicles and the Sugar Land Mortuary staff were the first to offer their own vehicles to help move them to the celebration of life location (which was not close by). That is first class service! If you are looking for a place that is classy, elegant, friendly, and caring, Sugar Land Mortuary is a place that will provide all of that and more.

It is my pleasure to leave a review for this business. SLM receives my highest recommendation. We recently had a beautiful and elegant celebration of life for my sister. First, the decor of SLM is sophisticated and chic. The comfortable and warm atmosphere will spoil you quickly and destroy every negative stereotype you may have of a "typical" mortuary. I am not easily impressed, but SLM has managed to do so. Second, every encounter with the owner, L. Donnell Williams and Funeral Director Myrtle Subjects, was filled with all the compassion, professionalism and patience you would hope for during the loss of a loved one. Christopher Flamenco also did a fabulous job with the makeup and wardrobe of my sister. She looked like a beautiful angel sleeping. The special token donated by Mr. Williams was a delightful surprise. Third, SLM offers competitive packages that are fairly priced for all the benefits you receive. If you believe that your loved one is priceless, you will truly appreciate what they have to offer. Fourth, SLM uses a third party printer to design its programs. If you prefer hands on design privileges and one on one communication directly with the printer, I recommend that you request that SLM use Metoyer Roy Printing, a local Houston printer. Finally, I unapologetically demanded excellence for my sister and I believe Mr. Williams, Mrs. Subjects and Mr. Flamenco did their best to meet my family's expectations. I will be eternally grateful.

This place was phenomenal and took care of all our questions and needs with the passing of my loved one. They did not feel like a business but rather a home and a family to make you feel comfortable with all the decisions you made. This place also has amazing staff such as Donell and Melinda who were prompt to facilitate the whole process and apt to answer any questions we had. They also provided a day of coordinator who was exceptional and made sure everything was set up for us to celebrate the passing of our loved one. I recommend this place a thousand times and more and hope one day when my time comes I may have such a gem of a place available.

Mr L. Donnell Williams and staff are amazing. My Mom's home-going was beautiful. She was cremated and I wanted her flowers to be surrounding her Urn and it was perfect how my vision came through for it. It was beautiful and I can't thank them enough. I would use them in the future

Do not use the Sugar Land Mortuary! The staff is unorganized and rude to the guests of the funeral.  We purchased a funeral viewing to take place Thursday evening and a funeral celebration for 100 people the following day.  During the Thursday viewing the funeral home failed to provide parking information for family and friends to park their car. The funeral home has additional parking at the back of the funeral home and parking at a nearby church. Since the funeral home failed to provide parking information for guests, this caused family members and friends to park in parking lots that were extremely far away from the Sugar Land Mortuary.  Also during the Thursday viewing, the Sugar Land Mortuary staff refused to serve water to guests when the viewing was nearing the end.   During the celebration of life that took place the following afternoon, the staff was extremely unorganized and rude to the family members. First, there were not enough plates or food for the guests. We purchased 100 plates and the Sugar Land Mortuary only provided 100 plates for guests. The staff was not prepared to provide the guests with additional plates, silverware, or food. On multiple occasions, guests would ask the staff for more plates and silverware since they ran out and the staff responded to all guests in a rude manner. We were told by staff to "go to the FoodTown across the street and purchase additional plates, silverware, and food". The staff told one family member that the lack of food was "not their problem" and they were "too busy" to help.

I cannot thank Lodis Wycoff and the staff at Sugar Land Mortuary enough for helping me plan the funeral service for my father. Lodis offered suggestions, but always let me make the decisons. The service was beautiful and everything detail was handled to perfection. She took care of all of the details for the military burial at the Veteran's Cemetery and gave me the name of clergy I could contact to handle the service. If I could give them 10 stars I would, because they certainly deserve them.

Chris and his team at Sugar Lang Mortuary where very helpful, kind, and professional during an obviously difficult time. The facility is beautiful and they let us personalize the memorial service. Also the prices where reasonable and, unlike some of their competitors, very transparent. If you have a loss and unfortunately do need a mortuary then I highly highly recommend this place.

I recently had the misfortune to have to plan a funeral for a family member. A close friend referred me to Sugar Land Mortuary. What a beautiful facility they have provided to allow families to pay final tribute to their loved ones. The entire staff there was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to comfort our family and help us through this period of grief. Every last concern and expectation of ours was met and exceeded. A business like this could easily take advantage of customers during such a vulnerable time but the incredible staff at Sugar Land Mortuary proved to be a class act.

The funeral director is so much in a hurry that we had to request things over and over. Very frustrating. Wish they would slow down. They have a ways to go to get 4 stars. Although things went reasonably ok...not great. Picture video stopped in the middle of the ceremony. No one cared to check if things are going well or not. 45 minutes into video it had stopped. Since we ran out of chairs and they had extra chairs in the next room, no one assisted in bringing a few extra chairs in. Mistyped date of death on cards. Mistyped death certificate. Reorder death certificate incorrect amount. Once again I say - If the director would slow down, listen carefully, make notes and not rush...these issues wouldn't happen. Sorry, I am not that impressed.

Mr. Williams and his staff went above and beyond during a difficult time for me and my family. When I first went to visit the funeral I was pleasantly greeted by staff and received exceptional service. Chris, Melinda and the rest of the staff assisted with the arrangements so all would be taken care of. On the day of the funeral, my grandmother was absolutely beautiful! We received compliments on her all evening. During the wake the staff was attentive and made sure appetizer and drinks were available for all in attendance of the service. We were also pleasantly surprised when received a nice gift about a month later from them. All in all Sugar Land Mortuary is a true class act! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for classy professional service.

Amazing during the worst , they couldn't have made it easier - they went above and beyond for my loved ones.

The service and compassion we have received at Sugar Land Mortuary was just above and beyond. Their team worked with my family to make sure that we could have a proper send off for my grandpa. Don and Lodis explained everything from what to expect to making recommendations and listening to what we wanted for my grandpa. They made the reception area match the colors my grandma wanted (yellow and apple green, their favorite colors) which was very symbolic and meant a lot to her. The place was beautiful! My grandpa looked so peaceful like he was just sleeping in the casket, and he was dressed very nicely. They even accommodated our request to have him hold the rosary and have a spray of all yellow flowers over the casket. Scott went above and beyond with making sure the music was just as we wanted, and even after the event was over he helped us to pack all the flowers and made sure we were very well taken care off. We will never forget the kindness that was shown to us during a time when we were grieving the loss of a loved one and highly recommend Sugar Land Mortuary.

It not only prides itself on style and elegance; the professionalism and expertise shown by its staff prove to be "one of a kind." From the moment the service began, the staff and owner, L. Donnell Williams, diligently worked to ensure that the desires of all in attendance were met. Their ideas, vision, and talents, coupled with patience helped to enhance the experience, making this day one to remember. Mr. Williams' attention to detail and desire to provide the best quality service makes him and Sugar Land Mortuary truly unique. At the venue, the guests were greeted by a friendly doorman and were afforded the opportunity to commune in its beautiful chapel and dine in its immaculate reception hall. Adorn in shades of lapis and ivory, the facility and its décor displayed like an art gallery, impressing all present. As the night progressed, Mr. Williams and his staff swiftly transformed each area to accommodate the guest needs while maintaining the elegance and grace of the service. They were attentive and willing to go the extra mile to ensure that all in attendance were satisfied. These are some of the unique features provided in their services, making Sugar Land Mortuary stand out from the rest. I won't consider this establishment for my loved one, based on how I was treated on a call by Lois Whitecroft - she refused to answer standard questions, in fact seemed to take offense at my questions for no rational reason, and then hung up on me. Here are some of the questions I asked her, and her response: Q: I'd like to meet your funeral director and owner. They'll be taking care of my loved one and I'd like to have that level of comfort. A: No, he's not available to speak with you. I'm going to be your point of contact. I'll decide if they should speak to you. Q: Do you have the ability to perform a buddhist service? A: We do all kinds of services, but we don't have a priest. Q: I'm confused - if you don't have a priest and I have to bring my own, then does this mean you have connections to temples so that you can facilitate this service? A: I don't think these questions are appropriate. [HANGS UP ON ME] If this is how they treat you on the phone in response to reasonable questions, imagine how they'll handle your loved one when you're not around. Lois, great job losing a customer. Never have I lost trust in an establishment so quickly.

Sugar Land Mortuary deserves nothing short of 5 stars. A great funeral home, especially for those dealing with the loss of a loved one for the first time, which was the case for my family when my father suddenly passed away. Sugar Land Mortuary made the entire process very easy. The only stressful difficulties we encountered were with certain tasks we took it upon ourselves to do. Other than that, everything that Sugar Land Mortuary handled they handled well. Lodis, the funeral home director, was especially kind & understanding towards my mother, even with my mother's numerous requests. They were incredibly accommodating & the staff was very professional. Not to mention, the funeral home itself is gorgeous; their building is a lot newer, more inviting, and impeccably decorated, unlike most funeral homes that are more outdated & somber. All the thoughtful details made for a very beautiful service. Overall a very good experience. I highly recommend Lodis & the wonderful staff of Sugar Land Mortuary.

With the unexpected death of my Father I was in shock. I knew of Sugar Land Mortuary through my Church, Fort Bend. Once I called the facility to inquire about the handling of the remains of my Dad, the staff was phenomenal from beginning to end. If you have ever been through the loss of a Parent it is a traumatic experience. The owner Donnell was exceptional giving me detailed instructions as to what to do in order to make arrangements. They checked on me throughout the week leading up to the services which was comforting in and of itself! This is a Beautiful facility and I highly recommend it for the final arrangements for a loved one. I consider Sugar Land Mortuary family now. They took care of me and most importantly my Beloved Father. Thank you Sugar Land Mortuary.

I would highly, highly recommend Sugarland Mortuary. They are beyond accommodating, highly organized, beyond professional and were there for myself and family on the worst day. My mother passed away at home unexpectedly. Donnell was able meet us in me immediately and went over everything in detail. The burial for my mother was out of state and he called there and made the arrangements for us there too. We had the option of paying for all the arrangements at one time. The cost was clear and was thousands of dollars less than the other funeral homes in the area. I went to 3 funeral homes that day. They handled my mother with the utmost of care from the time they came to get her from the house. Every member of the staff that we came across was just amazing going above and beyond and so respectful. The facility is beautiful and the level of service was amazing. You have the entire facility to yourself and so family and friends are not wandering around trying to find you. They are extremely knowledgeable about the traditions of other cultures and that was extremely helpful to us as we are Chinese but raised here in the U.S. so were not sure what we needed to do. Thank you so much to Donnell, John and Jackie. You helped my family and I on such a difficult day and you helped and supported us along the entire way. I recommend them highly and can honestly say to just go straight to them for your loved ones arrangements. I went to all the other facilities in the area. They were the best in service, facilities and price.

My grandmother's visitation was held at Sugar Land Mortuary in December 2014, and it was so well executed. The owner and his staff were very attentive, and made our family feel extremely special and appreciated. For months after the service, our entire family and our friends were still commenting on the wonderful way in which we said our goodbyes to my grandmother. The caring and sincere staff, coupled with the quality of service that is standard at Sugar Land Mortuary, made a difficult time much easier for our family to bear. I would recommend this facility to anyone who wants to ensure that their loved one is cared for in the manner that they deserve.
