Yelp
Local, Small business minority-women owned, and....a dreamland of some of the most amazing looking baked goods!
Sugar Vault Desserts is the kind of place that speaks to my heart! Artisan baked goods with a creative flare and eye-appeal...that you won't find around at any other bakery in the DMV!....And, more importantly....it taste just as good as it looks!!
This small storefront, located in the Hyattsville, MD - Art Deco District, sells a variety of mouth drooling Instagram-worthy baked goods. You walk-in and you can't help but to notice the displays of Instagram-worthy cookies, cake slices, chocolate cover strawberries, pretzels and cupcakes whose decadent flavors include those inspired by ice cream flavor-like profiles, Girl Scout cookie combinations, lemon, black raspberry, key lime pie, chocolate mocha, southern down-home classics and even some items infused with alcohol!
Upon entering, I was immediately greeted. And, let me tell you....my eyeballs where everywhere! Everything in the store grabs your attention immediately!! I mean I could barely focus or make a choice between all the variety....which changes weekly by the way. Thanks to the cashier for describing each item and assisting me. Her customer service was on point.
I narrowed down my options and decided to try:
* LEMON-RASPBERRY CHEESECAKE CUPCAKE -- One word....HELLALICIOUS!! A great classic cheese with folds of bright lemon flavor coming through. The raspberry topping completely complimented this cupcake perfectly.
* BAILEY'S SALTED CARAMEL CHOCOLATE PECAN PIE CUPCAKE -- YUP!...You heard me!! That title is correct....all that goodness piled into a cupcake. All I can say is "Laaaawwd Have Mercy!" It was love at first sight and immediately caught my attention when I arrived. I knew I had to try it. So, I found a corner space in Sugar Vault and decided to dive in.
First impressions, great cupcake overall. The cake was moist, not to dense and full of chocolate cake flavor. There were a few chocolate chips in there too. The icing was light though and something was missing. I think it needed more of a vanilla flavor, but it was topped-off with pecans, caramel, and chocolate sauce which revived the icing and brought it alive. Now take all of this and you add a slice of a mini-pecan pie and a shot of Bailey's Irish Creme!!??....SAY WHAT!!? Where they do that at? I couldn't do anything at this point of eating this thing, but to wave the white flag! This cupcake completely exceeded my taste buds and hearts desire.
In all, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and every bit of the calories! The baked goods are delicious, the staff is very friendly, and the price point is not that bad either. The only downer (let down) from my entire Sugar Vault experience was that they don't sell milk or coffee! Eating amazing desserts like this deserves more than just water or sodas as options to compliment the experience! Besides, there is nothing better than milk with cookies or baked goods...imho.
I will definitely be back to try some of the other selections. Thanks Sugar Vault for an amazing foodie moment and now, making my summer beach goals even harder to reach!! lol
