A Beloved St. Louis Barbecue Spot Has Arrived in Denver | Eater Denver

"I report that St. Louis–based Sugarfire Smoke House has opened its first Colorado outpost, Sugarfire “Westy,” at 14375 Orchard Parkway in Westminster; started by chef and pit master Mike Johnson and already a 10-location brand across Missouri, Indiana, and Illinois, the restaurant is known for its brisket, pulled pork, and ribs and features a full bar serving Colorado beers, cocktails, and boozy milkshakes. The Westminster store starts serving at 11 a.m. daily, and there’s no word yet on additional Denver-area outposts." - Josie Sexton

These Four Barbecue Options Are Coming in Hot to Denver | Eater Denver

"A St. Louis-born barbecue franchise opening in June in Westminster’s Orchard Park Place; founded by chef Mike Johnson, the concept pairs traditional smoked staples like baby back ribs, pulled pork, and beef brisket with playful, nontraditional items such as smoked brisket cheesesteaks, pork belly hush puppies, and Bourbon milkshakes." - Josie Sexton

Google
I ordered takeout. For $28.99/lb this establishment could easily afford carry out containers, but instead my pulled pork and brisket was wrapped in tinfoil… The sauces listed on the website are almost misleadingly labeled- they have STL Sweet which in hindsight is St Louis Sweet. I thought it was Seattle Sweet so I ordered Texas Hot instead. If you haven’t tried it, Texas Hot is essentially spicy ketchup, think like Whataburger. Not BBQ sauce at all. This place is fortunate they are conveniently located right next to a hospital, because there is no way they would make it elsewhere.

Google
For the value, terrible. The brisket was not even close to fresh. Made me feel sick as I ate it. Ribs were eatable, but under seasoned and dry. Pulled pork sandwich was decent. Mac and cheese, as well as chocolate shake were actually really good, but not enough to come back for.

Jacob B.

Google
The staff are rude and act very inconvenienced by us ordering food. The burger is okay and the ribs taste like they were made in a crock pot. +$2 for a gf that falls apart instantly. All in all, over priced, service sucks, go to lulus in Louisville, miles above this crap factory.

Google
Overall Rating and is it worth a visit: 7.75 to 8/10. Maybe. Rolling in, I had my hesitations about the place, based on its location in a suburban planned strip mall development, but also with it being a chain from out of state, as this is 1 of 12. That said, when I walked in the door I was pleasantly surprised, as I was instantly hit with a nice waft of oak floating through the air. In traditional bbq or fast casual fashion, you order cafeteria line style, choosing between individual meats, combo platters, sandwiches, burgers, and even salads. Opted for the Meat Daddy platter as it was a taste of pretty much everything and was a pretty affordable price for how much food you get. Started with the brisket, which shocked me at how good it was, but after that, all of the meats mostly let me down, with a small upswing at the end with the cheesy garlic mashed potatoes. Service was on point, and the place had a laidback chill environment/vibe to it, with 90’s-2000’s rock and alternative playing at a low volume, while the staff cracks jokes with each other. Not the best place to get bbq in Colorado, but certainly not the worst either. Without a ton of close other options in Westminster/Thornton, it’s a okay spot to stop at, but isn’t worth a special trip on its own either. Would come back if people invited me, but also not making a stop unless it’s directly on my way. Full review at The House of Salt & Smoke

Google
Put Sugarfire Smokehouse on Your BBQ Bucket List! If you’re into bold flavors and creative barbecue, Sugarfire Smokehouse is the spot. I tried the pulled pork, brisket, and smoked salmon — all incredible, but the smoked salmon with their Carolina mustard sauce was next level. They’ve got a full-service bar, garage-style open bay seating, and a patio that’s perfect for warm days. Bonus: it’s pet-friendly, LGBTQ+ friendly, and has a great laid-back vibe. Definitely one of those places that deserves to be on the map for BBQ lovers.

Google
So delicious! My favorite BBQ place in Colorado. Always try something from the rotating specialty sides. (Photo: burnt ends sandwich with hash brown casserole)

Google
Who says you can't find good BBQ in Colorado!? Was craving some smoke, stumbled upon this gem. 16hr smoked brisket, 14hr ribs. Broke da mouf! 8 different sauces to choose from. I like the Texas Hot! Staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and gave great recommendations.

Google
This is the worst bbq ever. I got the Meat Daddy and all the meats were so dry. The sauces barely helped. The sides were ok... all 4 bites. They're not generous. Don't waste your time or money on this place. SERIOUS

Yelp
Had the brisket chili, potato salad, cornbread and ribs today. All excellent! Brisket in the chili was so tender, ribs also tender with a very nice smoke and meaty, cornbread is one of the best I have had and last the potato salad is my favorite! Staff are friendly and efficient! Def a place to try and return to!!

Yelp
I tried this chain bbq place in St Louis a few years back and remembered the food to be above average to good. I finally made it to this Westminster, CO location and had brisket, ribs, Mac and Cheese, cornbread and coleslaw. Brisket was dry, no smoke, and sliced too thin. Ribs were better than the brisket, but still dry and lacked smoke (it may have been boiled and finished in a smoker). Sides were all lackluster, the cornbread was old and had been sitting around at least a couple of days. Service was good and courteous, but did not make up for the bad food.

Yelp
Wow! This restaurant completely bailed me out. I had a company picnic for 100+ people and my food vendor did not show. Called Liz at Sugarfire and without hesitation took and order for 120 people made in record time. Incredible service! Thank you!!!!!!

Yelp
Some awesome BBQ in Denver! Ordered the 2 meat plate that comes with 2 sides and the Carolina. The brisket and pork were both flavorful and cooked smoked to perfection. The sides menu look amazing in itself. Beans, potato salad, mac n cheese & caprese salad were all good. They have 6 different types of bbq sauces to choose from. The Carolina mustard is super tangy and delicious. The Texas Hot has really good flavor and is not overly hot. Sat at the bar and Liz was very nice and engaging. When there was a crowd she stepped into the kitchen to help out. Great automate service. Very clean and there is a nice patio to sit on too.

Yelp
Drove half an hour wanting to try a new spot to find the place closed for the week. No temp hours anywhere no warning on the website other people walking up to find the same thing.

Yelp
The staff is so nice. the beers on hand are great and the brisket and coleslaw was SO good. No pictures because we ate it all. One of the better places in westy to eat.

Zackary R.

Yelp
Best food in the area and amazing staff. Please give it a try it's amazing and the cane sugar pop on tap .

Yelp
Service and staff were fine, but the food was anything other than fine. I never leave reviews, but BBQ means a lot to me. The Brisket Dip sandwich, was not smoked brisket. It was grilled, I watched them grill it, and it says smoked in the description. Grilled brisket is a sin. The brisket was hard to chew, and didn't "fall apart" or "melt" in your mouth. Fries were awesome, too bad I got maybe a palms worth of them. Side of Mac and cheese was impossible to distinguish from classic Kraft Mac&Cheese, yet they charge 5$ for a tiny portion of it. All in, 24$, for mediocre, over priced Mac and cheese, GRILLED brisket on an overpriced sandwich, and a palms size worth of fries. And no, 24$ doesn't even get you a drink

Yelp
I got the two plate for myself and I must say...ITS A LOT of food. Definitely bang for the buck. The brussel sprouts was really good and would recommend as a side. Same as the loaded smashed potatoes. I thought the ribs were okay. Didn't really fall off the bone and was kind of dry. Brisket was too lean and dry for my taste, however the sauce made it pretty good! I really liked their coffee infused BBq sauce! Overall food was okay and the price was fair. Definitely enough for you and your SO to enjoy. Note: I wouldn't recommend the potato salad (not pictured). Texture was off and very bland. Their amazing bbq sauces couldn't save it :( (part of the reason for a 3 star).

Yelp
I can't believe we haven't been here before this week. Smoked, fried artichoke hearts are fabulous! They have yummy meats, a great selection of homemade fresh sides, scrumptious burgers and shakes AND a bar. This is our new favorite place.

Yelp
8.5/10 - STL style ribs w/ Mac & cheese, beans, and fried okra Every 4th of July, I indulge in some tasty homemade BBQ and Sugarfire always gives me that same feeling. BBQ brings people together, sharing their love for juicy meats and gossiping over family drama while sitting in the summer heat. I highly recommend Sugarfire if you're ever craving some good STL style barbecue, and make sure to get their cornbread... it's da best.

Yelp
Delish, BBQ was SPOT on!! Drinks were free pour and set the tone for a brisket feeeding frenzy!

Yelp
i have been wanting to go here for awhile now, so I went for the first time. Never going back again. I let the guy know we have never been there before but I sti had to ask a lot of questions, where's the bbq sauce, does it come with bread etc. Paid $25 only to sit down and eat beans with hair!!!! The sauce was delicious and the meat but I will never go back.

Yelp
I finally called to complain when for the third time they failed to pack desserts I had paid for. I was told they would refund to my card but they failed to do that as well. Sticker a fork in I'm done!

Yelp
We were trying to find a new place we haven't been yet. I'm glad we decided to stop here. When you walk in the door, the smell immediately hits you... and you know it's gonna be GOOD. You walk up to the counter to order. Quick n easy. They have a cooler of various local brews that I haven't seen elsewhere, so that was cool. Also, they have a full bar in the middle of the restaurant. My hubby tended to our food order & I went straight to the bar to see what concoctions they had. The bartender, Liz, was super nice. She created their specialty cocktail menu herself, and I was VERY IMPRESSED. I had the Apple Bottom Jeans. It was mixed with salted caramel vodka, Crown Apple, rhubarb bitters, apple juice & stem cider with a salted caramel pecan rim. Are you kidding me?! The PERFECT fall cocktail. It was amazing. I enjoyed every sip. I'm posting the cocktail menu bc I seriously wanted to try them all, they sound so good! And unique. To eat: I had the double decker smoked portobello sammich & my hubby had the Big Mud with hashbrown casserole. His was made with brisket & pork with all the fixings. Mine was made with 2 HUGE smoked portobello mushroom caps & a special sauce. I couldn't eat the whole thing; but it was delicious & flavorful. I also got the charred Brussels with sweet chili sauce as my side. OMG, TO DIE FOR. I loved how they had unique veggie options at a BBQ joint. We'll definitely be back when in the area.

Yelp
Pretty decent BBQ up in the northern part of town. Some highlights were definitely the Brisket Cheesesteak Sandwich (my birth hospital is across the street and I'm already planning on sending the hubby to get me one of the these during the 48 hours you have to stay at the hospital after giving birth lol) The turkey was good, I enjoyed the ribs, the hashbrown casserole was a house favorite and I would have to agree; it was bomb. And of course cheese curds and fried pickles? You can't go wrong. I liked the pulled pork sandwich but I am just not cut out for messy things haha I was a bit tentative given that I was wearing white. I love the plethora of sauces...I swear there are like 10. The honey badger was my fave with a little kick, and of course Carolina gold will always be a fave. They had a creamy one too, with I think horseradish? I forgot the name but that was good with the fried sides! And brisket Mac and cheese was good too. If I could choose on thing though in recommending that Brisket Cheesesteak it was sooo good!
google avatar

Sean B.

Yelp
I sat at the bar and tried two of the many local beers they have on draft, the Carolina was amazing, and the service was fast and friendly. Try one of the rotating sides they have, there are so many I couldn't decide which ones to get. I'll definitely be back.

Ryan R.

Yelp
Place was not worth it. BBQ was dry and tasted old, not to mention I was overcharged. Tasted comparable to a standard chain establishment. Portion size for pulled pork and brisket was below average.

S K.

Yelp
Ordered a 2 meat plate and wanted double brisket because I was sharing with my small child. The guy refused to let me order double brisket. Said I could get 8oz brisket but not double. Wasn't enough for both of us ended up having to go up & order more brisket. Do yourself a favor drive a bit further & go to Nordy's to they will give you what you want without mid service or mid bbq.

Yelp
Happy they sell okra at a BBQ place. Not many do. Love the coffee sauce! Overall food is delicious and many great sides to choose from.

Yelp
Tried Sugarfire today for a late lunch. When walking in the place is clean and cool looking. Nice decor. Nice layout. Wasn't expecting a place where you walk into a service counter and have to stand in line trying to read the menu. Was expecting more of a sit down restaurant. Lots of choices. I went with the special they had listed. The Chimichurri burger. It was a burger with chimichurri sauce and a pork rind with pickled red onions and a mayo style sauce. For the side I got the spicy fried brussels sprouts and added a caprese salad. I don't get bbq much but was surprised at the price. The burger and 2 small sides were over $20. Once they bring your food over the first thing you notice is the giant "plate" with a little food on it. The burger looked good. Was well cooked. The chimmi sauce was good the patty was small. The side of fried brussel sprouts were burnt to a crisp. It was literally a little paper tray of burnt sprouts leaves. The caprese salad was cherry tomatoes and mozzarella balls in a sweet balsamic glaze. Not bad. I also tried a couple pieces of their brisket and Texas hot bbq sauce which is not hot at all in my opinion. The brisket was good. Not great not bad. Overall it was $70 + tip for 3 of us. The brisket plate. 2 meat plate and the burger with an extra side and 2 waters. Wasn't bad but I left still hungry and unsatisfied. 6.5/10

Yelp
First the place is in a great location and the staff seem very friendly. I got the three meat plate with ribs I asked for wet brisket and the lady behind the counter suggested the turkey For sides I got the brisket chili which sounded intriguing and the coleslaw First don't get the coleslaw I normally like brussel sprouts but they didn't go well with the cabbage and the dressing didn't live up to my expectations The brisket chili Yes there were pieces of brisket in what looked like a tomato sauce The brisket was tender but the tomato sauce was spicy but not tasty Of the three meets the ribs were the best I don't understand that if your customer tells you this is my first time here why wouldn't you make sure they get the best cut of the meat. The brisket well it wasn't smokey it was tender and it was barely wet The turkey was tender but did not have much flavor When you say smokehouse I expect to taste smoke I won't be back

Ally S.

Yelp
I've only been to Sugarfire twice, but both times I've went the service has been phenomenal. The green tea shots are out of this world and the brisket sandwich will leave your mouth watering. Definitely recommended this place if you're looking for some good southern barbecue and great customer service.
google avatar

Lindsay T.

Yelp
We love this place! So happy to finally find a good bbq place. The meat is always so tender and delicious. Our favorite side is the smashed potatoes!
google avatar

Savanna B.

Yelp
We tried Sugarfire because of The Denver Dining Passbook (which is a great deal, btw). The meats ( we tried the brisket, ribs, and pulled pork) were all good, but the brisket was definitely our favorite. We had fries and macaroni and cheese for sides and felt that they were pretty lackluster. My husband liked the bbq sauces, especially the one flavored with coffee, and while that one was my favorite too I didn't love the sauces. We both got soft drinks because the offer Rocky Mountain Sodas- which is awesome because it's different than the same old tired Coke/Pepsi products that are typically offered everywhere.

Yelp
My experience with sugarfire smoke house was eating the food at home that my fiancé brought back. He definitely enjoyed the in dining experience that I hope to enjoy as well one day. And as you can see from the pictures that already have bites from the food, I got too excited to try. The meat are all pretty spectacular and tender. Definitely one of the top bbq places in Colorado. The sides are also pretty yummy too! Briskets are always my favorite and my fiancé fell in love with their ribs. Very curious to try their cheesesteaks. Maybe next time.

Yelp
OK so this place has been on my bucket list for a while now. From what I hear there are ties between this place and G-Que BBQ. So with this being my birthday month I get to pretty much do and eat whatever I want within reason, as long as I clear it with the Boss/wife 1st !! Lol. Just kidding. But anyway I was picking up some new muck boots in the area and figured why not because we were both off of work, still running errands after 6 and we try not to eat to late. So the way this place works is they do have socially distancing etiquette in place for dine in but I was kinda seeing a lot of TO-GO traffic. They have a menu board as well as online menus but I think you can pretty much get whatever you want as long as it is prepared as this to me is pretty much a "smokehouse" . They offer items from sandwiches to plates/platters as well as family platters and you can even get meats by the pound. They also offer several different types of sauces. I do believe I also saw some cornbread and cookies. So now that the formalities are out of the way here goes what I thought of this establishment. First thing it is PRICEY!! I was really surprised that I dropped $110 for take out. We ordered a family platter and a meatlovers plate. I was a little confused why they would combine everything in one of the aluminum tins that you see at family reunions or functions where you take a entree or something to that effect. Instead of 2 different to go containers that distinguish the 2. So I wasn't even sure we got everything we paid for. What we did get in the form of meats were, pork ribs, jalapeño sausage, Brisket, and pulled pork. They also offer turkey which I chose not to get. Our sides included potatoes salad, Cole slaw and Mac and cheese and FF. The meats were all good but the Brisket made you want to slap someone!!!! I think that was the best Brisket I've ever had. Now generally I'm a rib and steak guy but if someone put those 3 in front of me I would definitely go for that Brisket! I even took a cold sandwich a couple of days later at work and was mad because I didn't bring 2! Lol. The jalapeño sausage definitely had a kick to it but it was pretty good in itself. Now as far as the sides go I think you might be better off making your own, they were fair but nobody was fighting over seconds But your definitely safe with the meats. But keep in mind it's pricey, in my opinion anyway, especially for takeout, and generally I really don't trip on prices and maybe I was accidentally charged more for some reason because there was some confusion when I was paying and they added a couple of items when they were double checking my order but I failed to get a receipt because it took a while to get my order. But my recommendation is go with the meats. But as always I will tell you your taste may very and you may think thier sides are the best thing since sliced bread! So enjoy and I hope this is helpful.

Yelp
Lower than average bbq joint. Nothing special about anything I tried. I have very discerning tastes for bbq, as I've experienced the two absolute best Texas style bbq establishments in the country, Franklin and Little Miss. I tried the pulled pork plate with Mac and cheese and potato salad with an iced tea. The pork was dry and had almost no flavor. If they can't do pulled pork well, it's a good bet they struggle with more difficult cuts like ribs and brisket. The potato salad was heavy on mayo/mustard and lacked substance. The Mac and cheese was decent but not great, a bit greasy. Their "Texas Hot" bbq sauce was about a 3/10 for spice, 4/10 overall. It tasted and had the same consistency as sweet ketchup with a slight spice. The onions on the side were rubbery and old. The iced tea was not fresh, it was the worst tea I've had in a while. Service was good but the food was disappointing.

Yelp
I will start by saying that I've made it my personal venture to find the best BBQ in the USA. We've lived in Texas for the 20 years and my job has allowed me to travel all over in pursuit of the best BBQ and by the way not by the typical competition standards, but by my standards. My standards come from some of the best KC, TX, NC, SC and Memphis styles. Some of the oldest and most famous BBQ place have hugh german influences they were great at a couple of things but not all and they pride themselves on simply sides like pickle, onions and white bread. All of that to say my standards are what I am about to brag about. This place has super incredible BBQ and amazing sides, great sauces not that any of it needs sauce. But all of the sauces are seriously so good you can just dip anything In it. So starting with the fact this place has a great location, great decor. Great staff and super friendly. This place has a full bar but the best part is the food. Started with smoked artichoke hearts deep fried. My crew ordered 2 meats plate with Crazy Corn and Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes, The Big Muddy, The Brisket Dip. I don't not say this unless I mean it, everything was seriously outstanding. The ribs were so tender and the flavor of the rub is wow!!! Never order turkey at a BBQ place except for here. It's worth the trip!!! I could go on and on. What they do here is what I look for in a good BBQ place, great BBQ, great sides, great service and sauce that is so good you can drink when no one is looking. Come visit this place and you will not regret. Welcome St Louis Sugarfire to Colorado

Rebecca J.

Yelp
The meat was great and I loved the coffee barbecue sauce. They need a spicy barbecue sauce and the jalapeño strawberry hot sauce doesn't have a ton of flavor.
google avatar

Jay G.

Yelp
The food here is very delicious. I had the pleasure of getting some recommendations from Chantel I think was her name. And I am glad I asked her for help because I enjoyed the food I ordered. The place is very clean and they have so many different bbq sauces to choose from it's crazy. Stop by for some very good bbq.
google avatar

Fred W.

Yelp
This is a mixed experience for us. The brisket was dried up, but the pulled pork was good. The pies were great, but the sides so so. It seemed as though some of our order was fresh where as other parts of the order were old. I guess this is one where it depends on the time of day and what you order. It felt more like a chain food restaurant than a BBQ house.
google avatar

Stephanie G.

Yelp
Food is okay, the mashed potatoes are cold but the ribs were good. Service is good. The ambiance is really awkward here. I think it's the lighting. Doesn't make you want to stay and definitely doesn't match the high prices they charge. Gotta lose the weird fluorescent lights if you want people to enjoy their stay.
google avatar

Yelp
Brisket sandwich top notch. Sauces are wonderful. Fries were awesome as well . Pleasantly surprised!
google avatar

Yelp
We just move to Colorado from Texas and we absolutely love our Texas BBQ. I kept wondering what would be a substitute and if we would even find one...well we really like this place. The bark on the brisket yummy, ribs so good. We still haven't figured out what sides we like but boy oh boy we are excited we found this place. Eat here you won't be sorry! Staff is awesome too!
google avatar

Ellen L.

Yelp
You know what? I'm going to go 5 stars because I can't think of a reason not to! From the minute we walked in the door, the food smelled amazing. The serving staff were friendly and starting joking with me immediately. My husband and I shared a giant platter of meat with 2 sides and we still had to take leftovers home. Like usual, the only meat I wasn't a huge fan of is the turkey, but that's a "me" thing everywhere I go. The brisket and ribs were heavenly. And the BBQ sauce flavored with coffee was SO surprisingly good. I wish we didn't live so far from here but then again, I might go broke trying to eat here all the time if we were nearby.
google avatar

Jayme L.

Yelp
Gave Sugar fire another chance after my initial review, once again I was disappointed. The turkey was tender and not dry. This time half the pulled pork was juicy and the other was burnt. I did enjoy the pulled pork that was juicy. The brisket was dry, even after a fresh cut and eaten right away, Nothing special. Ribs doesnt have much flavor to it. The dry rub isnt doing it much for it because the rib is dried up and burnt. I know these ribs are meant to be more of a firm rib and not fall the bone, but it's dry. The sausage is just horrible, all the cheese and jalapeno are on the bottom (refer to image) and not evenly spread out inside the sausage. It seems like they didnt even put enough chedder and jalapeno inside. I didnt finish it, taste like a glorified hotdog. I seen most of the bbq places wrap their meats in paper but here its in plastic wrap. I'm not an expert and wont say how it needs to be done. I'm just pointing it out for people who know more than me. Good selection of sides. I got baked beans and a soup. Both were good.
google avatar

Gwen A.

Yelp
First thing I have to say is they are open of Fridays. Yelp has them listed as closed today, but we enjoyed a wonderful lunch there today. We got the Meat Daddy, fountain drinks, and the fried artichokes. The sides we ordered were green beans and potato salad. I have to say we enjoyed our meal and especially all the different BBQ sauce (which all are made in house except the St Louis). Our favorite sauces were the coffee and the white sauces. When my husband went to tell them how much we liked the white sauce one of the ladies behind the counter got a small Togo container and filled it with the sauce to for us to take home. We both said the sausage, brisket, and pulled pork were our favorite meats. I look forward to trying their salmon next time.

Yelp
My go to place for BBQ when I am Denver. Brisket was super tender and moist - excellent but what put it over the top was the red hot conannmon apple sauce. A must try
google avatar

Kara H.

Yelp
I love everything about this restaurant- the vibe in the interior, the service, but most of all, the barbeque. This is not your standard bbq place- they are changing things up. Lots of different sauce options (you have to try the coffee BBQ sauce!) And the brisket dip sandwich served with an jus was to die for good. I had the Carolina pork sandwich which was also super flavorful and tender. The baked beans tasted a little like liquor and brown sugar- very different from your standard. The girl scout cookie shake with booze was pricey but worth it- I got the Samoa flavor with coconut rum, and they were not shy with the alcohol. The only part of my meal that I wasn't impressed with was the potato salad, as it was kind of bland. Everything else was fabulous though and I would absolutely go again...and again...and again!
google avatar

Yelp
Not bad but nothing special. Expensive for what you get. Pulled pork was dry. Cornbread was overly sweet. Beans were ok. All in all, I'd recommend finding another bbq place. It felt like a subway sandwich shop that served bbq. No ambiance. Won't return.

Irina P.

Yelp
I would just like to say that I gave them an extra star because I feel bad for the employees (who by the way are angry and not stoked to be there- whatsoever! And I don't blame them because the place is FREEZING! More on that below) Mainly I'd give them 1 star because the meats especially the pulled pork and brisket were SO dry! Such an overpriced horrible and cold meal. I'm honestly mad I stayed. Not a good experience. Overall- somehow- Beyond my understanding Management thinks it's all right to run a business when they have frozen pipes and no heating throughout the facility. Not only are their employees grumpy but as a customer, I didn't notice at first that the place didn't have heating and I ended up staying to eat my dinner there which was a huge mistake because halfway through the meal, the meal got cold and that was not great. This is mainly a message to the Management - I will I'm just really curious as to how you think it's appropriate to run a business in such conditions? Shut down for a day fix the issues and do it right. You are absolutely ridiculous. Stop torturing your employees and your customers by serving not only extremely dry and unappetizing oversalted meet as well as soggy coleslaw salad which is supposed to be crisp but not three days to old. Damn. Ok enough time wasted.

Yelp
If I judged from the first two things I asked if they had, an item from the specials board that we were told was from the day before, and then told they were out of hush puppies...then it would have been lower stars and disappointment, but instead I chose the pulled pork plate, and the other starter I really wanted to try, smoked fried artichokes. Food was so good!!! Fried Artichokes were so interesting in texture and flavors. Pork was melt in your mouth delicious, roasted brussel sprouts!!! I could have eaten the entire pan, please! And that crazy corn is crazy good! With the right amount of heat. The variety of sauces is amazing!!! Flavor, flavor, flavor!! The specialty sodas just add a special touch to otherwise can get anywhere, drinks. I will say, they mean their name, it is smoked goodness, on the sweet side, I happen to love that. I also felt 6oz of pork was a rather large portion. I was impressed with the funky vibe interior, friendly staff, and for a later dinner, very clean tables and floors.

Yelp
2nd visit yesterday evening, and will most likely be our last. Previous visits were not enough to keep us coming back, but our friends chose the place to meet and we went with it. Staff - acted as if we were annoying them by coming in, really acted like they couldn't care less if the represented the place well or not. Order accuracy - whatever method they have with you basically having to recite your order once to the food prepped and then again to cashier is annoying. Multiple items were missing/forgotten when food was brought to the table, one of my meats wasn't what was ordered despite them writing it on the tray paper. When going back to the counter to address mistakes again we were met with rude responses as if we were lying or something. Food - awful. Cold, bland, like we were eating yesterday's leftovers from the fridge. Fried artichokes were ice cold and over fried, and served with no sauce. Mac n chz was god awful, cold and runny, I've had better potato salad from a grocery store deli tub. This place probably doesn't have much longer performing like this, looking forward to whatever takes over the bldg next.

Yelp
This place is kind of filthy. Sauce bottles on the tables were sticky. Check out the pic by the pop machine/sauce dispensers, gross. Even worse was an employee brought over some to go sauce containers and ignored the mess. How does the manager let this get so out of control? Having said that the food was great. However, if the dining room was so filthy, how can we trust that the kitchen is any better?

Yelp
Amazing service Everytime we come. Have tried something new from the menu including the sides and everything is hands down a god send. Will keep coming back!

Yelp
I have been here a few times and it's been about 3 months. Today I went in for some takeout and ended up staying for an open house event with the founders of the company, two amazing mid west breweries and sampled more food than I could say!!! The staff here is a family and it was lovely to sit and observe. I then met the local owner and we had the best conversation about hospitality. Food and drink are super important at any establishment - but seeing the friendship and camaraderie that lives here makes this my fave place up north! Love the brisket always. Thanks Chad!!!

Yelp
I'm so absolutely disappointed! Walk in and order to dine in. At first smell I'm thinking yessss BBQ (starving), so we proceed to ask a few questions because they have a paper menu posted that says certain items and prices and then they have a large posted menu (in picture) that has most of the same but certainly different pricing. The answer we received is that the paper menu (with higher prices and less items) is the most up to date. Okay COVID?!? Let's roll with that. We decide to try just about everything. We ordered the "meat daddy", fried pickles, and the smoke fried artichokes. Huge mistake! ALL of the food was barely warm, the artichokes were not done leaving a grainy mushy taste. The ribs were awful because they were over cooked, hard, cold, and flavorless. The pork was rubbery and flavorless like it was cooked in a microwave. The sausage was simply cold so I spit it out in fear. Mac and cheese was bland, cold, and floury. Beans (although cold) was probably the one item that tasted fairly well. The kids behind the counter had zero personality and almost acted like we bothered them by coming in. AND, the female working the bar did nothing at all. We had to go back to counter to ask for plates, then back to ask for water, then back for silverware. The first table we sat at was covered in BBQ sauce so I asked her for a napkin to wipe the table. Instead of cleaning it she handed me a napkin. I wiped it and then looked at the napkin and it was black. Not sure that table has ever been cleaned, so we moved to a different table. Second table was no better than the first, in fact, it was so gross we put napkins on table before we put our plates down. Leaving the restaurant with most food remaining on the platter or our plates both me and my spouse stated "dear God don't let us get food poisoning by this". Needless to say, the next 24 hours were scary, but we survived minus around $75 in very bad food and cheap wine. Can't blame this nonsense on COVID

Yelp
The food is good, BUT I just don't feel it's worth the price. There are other places that have good BBQ with a similar price point that I think are more satisfying. Part of the problem is that if you have never been before you are unaware of all the flavors they offer. As an example I had no idea they had a coffee BBQ until we had finished our meal and a very friendly lady who sat next to us told me it was the bomb. I did a quick taste and she was right- wish I had known sooner. Also, it can get incredibly loud. Maybe it was just that night, the very high energy children next to us (although the layout wouldn't have really allowed us to escape) or it's the open ceiling. I won't hurry back, but I also won't balk if someone else suggested eating there.
