"Made with unaged whiskey (read: legal moonshine), this sweet cream liqueur is sort of like an American riff on classic Irish cream and is available in flavors like butter pecan, banana pudding, and 'electric orange.'" - Amy McCarthy

Had a blast here!! Lots and lots of samples for a great price. Peyton was the best bartender!! Kudos to her cause she made a great time even better!! Coupons were an extra bonus off merchandise. HUGE selections of alcohol choices and merchandise. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! CHEERS.

Google
Payton was our server for the tasting. She created a fun and entertaining experience. By far the best tasting in the area. We also went to the bar area and tried drinks there too. Great cocktails. Payton suggested the bomb pop and it was delicious. A must return!

Google
Alecia as a server goes "hard in the paint" putting in that work to make your experience as memorable as possible. Our group enjoyed the tour so much we talked about it for hours. I can't thank you enough for the memories. Now the moonshine even though i didn't like them all we never skipped the pour because you encouraged us to "give in to peer pressure"and i need that kinda friend in my life. From the Ohio group it was a blast we might see you again before heading back.

We have been to Sugarlands 5 nights in a row. The moonshine tastings are the best. We had Payton, Jennifer L., Trey, Rob and Robbie as servers. They were all great. So much fun. We laughed so much. They all know how to entertain their guests. Thank you for making our nights so fun.

Dena Brown

Google
Did the sampling and Payton was our person, very nice and efficient, funny too. The wrist bands after can be used as $5 coupons towards purchase, which is great! Pricing decent and you get discounts when buying multiples. I would suggest to them to have more plus size selections for the shirts as there were a lot of cute ones but none of barely any in plus sizes. Fat people need love too Craig! Lol!

Google
Cody was great and we came here a year ago and I remembered him. He is very entertaining. Noah was amazing. Helped us on the way out!

Google
Stop by, and you won't be disappointed! The sample testing had about 8-12 (I lost count) unique and favorable drinks! I'm not a Bloody Mary fan, but this place made me think twice. Shout out to Peyton for being a knowledgeable, fun, and friendly bartender!

Google
An amazing distillery. Me and my wife stopped here for a moonshine tasting and had a blast. We tried several of their Moonshine, rum, and cream flavors to include Apple,Cinnamon, Apple Pie, Peach, Blackberry, blueberry muffin, Lemonade, Hazelnut Rum, Root Beer, Dark Chocolate Coffee, Orange Cream, and Strawberry. All of the flavors tasted great and some were so good we walked away with a few bottles of different flavors. Our bartender who helped us sample was fun and kept the drinks flowing. It was funny watching others reactions especially those that normally don’t partake in moonshine. They also have mixers to go with the moonshine that tasted great as well. We brought our goods back home with us to Florida and shared them with friends who also enjoyed them. If you’re in the area please check this place out you’ll have a blast.

David H.

Yelp
We started with the $5 sampling and that was very fun! Even nicer that you get $5 off with the armband they give you to sample if you decide to buy a full glass to take home. The prices are high at $25+ for a mason jar but the product is great and the environment is lively. Editing to add that on my 4th sampling visit we had Ben as our server and he was the best! We come here every year!

Jessica C.

Yelp
Fun and festive during the holidays! Drinks: Good variety. Changes everyday, they change flavors. In the month we came Dec. 1 they had peppermint and pie flavors. Which all were very tasty. It was nice to help get into the holiday spirit. Service: Energetic and fast paced. Trey was able to give great commentary and recommendations. If it was a rating just for Trey it would be just 5 stars. The girl at the register was a bit lake luster but she probably gets annoyed by all the tipsy guests. Ambiance: cute and very festive. The back bar was super cute and warm. The bottle of all the flavors were fun to look at and pick.

Yelp
Still some of the nastiest moonshine anywhere. I don't get the fascination of folks with this place. The bartenders are nice enough, sure - but that's their job. The alcohol options on the other hand are just flat out gross. We've been coming to Gatlinburg several times a year for nearly 3 decades. We've sampled everything the mountains have to offer in terms of commercialized spirits. We've seen distilleries, breweries, and likker joints come and go. We've tasted the best, and we've tasted the worst. Unfortunately, Sugarlands is among the worst, but it has to just be because of the tv show, because the stuff they're making just tastes like crap. It's SO syrup-y and muddled with low quality fillers its extremely off-putting. I don't care that they use all Tennessee products if the products they are using are inferior garbage that make their shine taste like swass. Their regular ol' high-proof shine that's not been tampered with isn't horrible, but there's also better in them hills. Seriously y'all - do better.

Andre A.

Yelp
We did the moonshine tasting and the rye tasting. Both were fun. Abbey did the moonshine tasting and Zack did the rye. Both were great hosts. We also had a couple cocktails at the cocktail bar. The bartender there was great as well, although I didn't get her name. All employees were very nice and all prices were reasonable. Would return, would recommend.

Brad H.

Yelp
Had a great experience with Travis as our guide. Offerings are getting even better with a few things beyond the typical "shine" experience. The Roaming Man, aged corn whiskey, and Apple rye offerings are worthy of more discerning tastes.

Deseree C.

Yelp
Went to try the $5 moonshine tastings, pretty great experience overall. Peyton was our host/server, she was great, very amusing and made the experience great! Would definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the Gatlinburg area!!

Yelp
I went to Sugarlands during my vacation. Considering I am not big on moonshine, I was able to try some non alcoholic drinks at the bar in the back while my other half had a moonshine tasting. The process to get a wristband is good and I liked the fact they had multiple areas to test out their moonshine. The guy behind the counter was funny and interactive with the taste testers. I give a shout out to the ladies behind the bar, they were sweet and educated about the varieties of shine and cocktail recommendations. I did like that I was able to keep the cup my non alcoholic beverage was in and the fact it said non alcoholic in big letters was reassuring for anyone to see from afar. Loved the fact they 100% carded and the crowd was a true mixture of people from 21 to a lady I met who revealed she was 72. Although it was warm outside, the back bar area/stage was pretty cool and the seating enabled even the lady with a walker space to enjoy watching the game with a cocktail. I will definitely visit again.

Hadiya S.

Yelp
We went to 2 different moonshine tastings the day we visited Gatlinburg and Sugarland was our favorite one. The staff is very lively which helps make the experience even better.

Mark S.

Yelp
The way they do the samples is pretty cool. It was just $5 for like 10 or so samples of moonshine. Each bartender gets about 10-15 people around in a circle and then pours everyone the same sample at the same time. Then he does the next flavor and so on. Each time he explained the flavor and history behind them. After you are done, you can get your wristband cut for $5 off your purchase. So then the sample becomes free. My wife said the moonshine was strong but tasted really good for how strong the proof was. Great atmosphere and great prices!

Carl D.

Yelp
Fun server/host for the moonshine tasting and a good amount of tastings as part of this. The bonus is for someone with a gluten allergy they sell corn based vodka.

Deannah R.

Yelp
The best sampling experience we had in all of Tennessee. From the moonshine and sipping creams to the host of our sampling. We had just come from ole Smokey distillery. We really enjoyed Sugarlands moonshine so much more. Before buying your jars of moonshine make sure to try both places to compare to your own taste. The tasting was $5 a person. The wrist band you wear during the tasting gives you $5 off any of the items in the shop. My husband and I were able to get $10 off a jar of moonshine. We tried a variety of flavors but our favorite was the dark chocolate coffee sipping cream. SOOOOO GOOD!! All of the sipping creams were delicious but that coffee one takes the cake. Rob the tasting bartender we had was so fun and made the experience even more enjoyable. We definitely will come back to hang out at the bar they have in the back. But most importantly get another jar of sipping cream.

John S.

Yelp
Went for the tasting and the drinks were fun and tasty. They have some incredibly dynamic, funny, and engaging bar tenders and some that were just there and seemed uninterested. 5 star plus if you get one like Daniel 3 star if you get the one i didn't like. Something that separated them from the rest of the tastings we did on this street was that the cost of the tasting was deducted from any purchase. Being cheap i loved this and if you are only doing one Gattlingburg tasting this is the one.

Mark W.

Yelp
21 and over? Looking to make the most out of a Tennessee vacation? Well come on over to Gatlinburg! And hey, this is marketed as THE #1 thing to do here! You know it's gotta be good if they're making that claim in a tourist town. My dad and I went in for some moonshine tasting. Guy we got sent to has a wicked good sense of humor! And there were plenty of good moonshines to try. Some of my favorites include the Chocolate Coffee, Hazelnut, and Root Beer. My dad actually ended up buying the Eggo one. I couldn't buy any because I had to fly back to Connecticut the next day. But seriously, if you're in Gatlinburg, you gotta come here! It is the stuff of legends!

Matt R.

Yelp
Sugarlands is a top notch operation with great service and fun atmosphere. They have a better system than others to get you a spot at a tasting bar and the staff really seems to care about it's patrons while making them laugh enjoying a variety of moonshine. Their $5 discount bands are bonus when you go to buy your favorite moonshine!

Chris B.

Yelp
Neat place. We did the tasting (12 samples), the guy running the tasting was engaging and funny, and most of the samples were great (a couple were a bit too sweet for me). We ended up buying a bottle of the Orange Squeeze and enjoyed a cocktail on the small bar area in the back.

Jennipher C.

Yelp
Visit Sugarlands Distilling Co when you're in Gatlinburg! For $5 you get to taste a pre-set menu of moonshine. There are so many different flavors that you're bound to find one or several that you like. The menu changes so we went back the next day and got to try some different ones, along with some of the same ones as the day before. Be sure to bring cash to tip the pourers. They are incredibly funny and make the whole experience fun. If you don't have cash, most take Venmo or CashApp. One cool thing is the wristband you are given will give you $5 off your purchase. You can combine them with as many wristbands as you get (invite your friends!) and you'll get an even bigger discount. Don't forget to visit the bar in the back of the place. Their maple bacon Bloody Mary is well worth the visit. We came back just to have one before leaving Gatlinburg. We also ended up buying the Bloody Mary mix and maple bacon moonshine to make at home. They have so many recipes on their website too so definitely check out this distillery and bring a few bottles home with you. It was definitely worth the visit!

Yelp
Today was the 10th anniversary and boy had it been a party since 10am when they opened. There new release of their cream birthday cake is AMAZING!!!!!!! Highly recommend you try it. I have experienced I am more of a cream based moonshine person but I liked most of there non cream based. For $5 you try 12 of them and then get that $5 back if you buy something, you can't complain at all.

Patty W.

Yelp
Oh Moonshine! Sugarlands is a must do when you are in the area. I can't believe I made it through all of the shots of the moonshine tasting. Some were good, others not too much, and the rest were the best. It was consisting of a range of old fashioned to a butter pecan. The awesome bartender was so hospitable. He made jokes and was professional while keeping everyone engaged with the shots. I could have easily stayed for another tasting. The wristbands give you $5 off the order at the register. I am not a fan of Bloody Mary at all, but when I tasted the sample from there, it knocked me off my feet. We got a bottle and a maple bacon one as well. Thanks for a tipsy experience!

Tilisha P.

Yelp
The lady at checkout with the moonshine was not pleasant. She acted like we were bothering her when we inquired about the moonshine. My sisters and I spent a weekend in Gatlinburg, and I must say this was the only negative experience we encountered. Everywhere else and everyone else was amazing. We went there on 2 separate occasions, and both times, she was not pleasant. On the other hand, the mini tour was very educational, and Zach did an excellent job answering any questions we had. He gets 5 stars! The young ladies who made our drinks were a whole vibe! The drinks were delicious but dangerous! Lol... you can't even taste the alcohol, so be careful!

Jimmy H.

Yelp
Abby was awesome. Great service and the atmosphere was great. She got me drunk and laid

Ally C.

Yelp
Great distillery! We did a tasting here and shopped around. A $5 fee for 10 moonshine tastings, how can you resist??? Especially when it gets you $5 off a moonshine bottle... The staff running the tastings are great! We did it twice and each guy was great, the second time we had Rob and he was hilarious! You take the tastings with your group, "as a family", they like to say which is different from the other tastings I've done. I like that they make it a group activity. The moonshine itself is good, some are a little sweet for my taste but overall a good variety!

Sean M.

Yelp
There just so darn fun! I love the tastings at these moonshine distilleries and I think Sugarlands has the funnest servers. Today we had Rob, known as "robham_zombie" on TikTok and he was a blast. Quick with the wit and on point. As far as flavors and taste of the drinks go, you know how it is. So many flavors, you're bound to like or love one and here you get to taste 12 and be entertained for $5. I'll take that any day. In the end, always fun and do it! Great atmosphere every time.

Tien V.

Yelp
The service was great! Rob Hamf was our bartender and he was phenomenal. The ambience was top notch. 10/10z Definitely give this place a try and get some delicious moonshine!

Faith R.

Yelp
This place is awesome. 5 dollar tastings per person with about 9 or so samplings. The tasting is done with a group of about 20 other people around a circular bar table. What I loved is that they want you to wait until everyone has their shot poured and then they say "bottoms up" and that's when you can drink. We had Rob as our bartender, he was really funny and had a big personality. All the samples were great and we ended up buying the peanut butter cream moonshine. You can also use the sampling bracelets they put on you as 5 dollar coupons towards any purchase, that you can stack and save however many people are in your party. Great store with great people, would recommend and we had a lot of fun!

Jasmine M.

Yelp
It was decent for the cheap price. The service was great. No food was served. Lovely crowd.

Marina S.

Yelp
Off the bat I would definitely recommend coming here over Ole Smokey distillery! It was so much cheaper to come here for a tasting and not only that but the person who was doing the tasting had such an amazing aura and presence to them! He was so funny and such a pleasure to be around during our tasting. Your bracelet counts as a coupon and I think it's cool how you can keep the bracelets and save them for next time and there's no expiration on them. My partner and I used our bracelets and ended up getting a free 6 pack of the can cocktails that they have there! The vibes were great and I highly recommend this distillery and 100% will be back!

Maddie R.

Yelp
LISSY AND BRITT WE LOVE YOU! 10/10 service 10/10 I have never gone on a vacation and been remembered by a bar staff two days in a row. Amazing. Gage, thank you too!!!

Milagros G.

Yelp
Very nice distillery modern they make nice quality cocktails. You can have a tasting nice pat on the back with mountains. Very nice time. Spent there just relaxing after coming out out of the Smoky Mountains. Definitely recommend it.

Denise L.

Yelp
Was excited and nervous to try my first moonshine! We did the tasting which is $5, and it was such a fun time with Rob! He is hilarious and made downing the various flavors a lot easier! About 10 different options to try, and though some were not very good and reminded me of cough syrup, it was fun to try all the flavors. The $5 wristbands can go towards purchases and as a group we bought 3 bottles. The blackberry which was not on the tasting was our favorite!

Jena P.

Yelp
Absolutely loved our tasting with Josh. He kept us laughing and the flavors were great. Highly recommend!

Max A.

Yelp
You just cannot visit Gatlinburg without stopping for a tasting. Great place and fun!

Jolene R.

Yelp
Love this distillery. I really love that you can go in back and have a few actual drinks to truly get a feel for what shines u like and can take home

Lindsey G.

Yelp
Had a great time on the distillery tour and the $5 sample "tour". Server for the samples was awesome. Lots of stories and very funny. Guy running bar in back... not so much. Be sure to do the samples and don't be afraid to ask for half shots. It was a LOT of alcohol.

Brandi C.

Yelp
Travis was so funny and we had a great time doing tastings! The cocktails in the back were yummy!

Diana N.

Yelp
$5 for a tasting of 12 different moonshine. I don't like alcohol, so I personally thought they were all very gross (lol), and my boyfriend, who does drink, only liked a few of the flavors. HOWEVER, you can't beat $5. It's fun to do while on vacation, cheap, and you get a variety of flavors to try.

Sarah C.

Yelp
Love Brock!! He was the best! Had a great time and he was so entertaining! Highly recommend

Janie J.

Yelp
So much fun!!! The tasting guru's were fun, and knowledgeable. The moonshine was great, smooth, and yummy. The bar in the back also a great place for an unusual drink and chill. It's a great place with a fun vibe!

Corey H.

Yelp
BP had a hilarious script for our 12-flavor testing. $5 each and that can be applied to your purchase. Would buy 11 of the 12 flavors we tried! Also have fun shirts and a variety of cups in the gift shop. Definitely recommend! As a stop on your Gatlinburg tour!!

Sloane R.

Yelp
Lissy, Britt, and, Maddog, and Gage are rockstars. We had so much fun. Called us by name and made us feel like family WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!! Drinks were tasty and we had such a beautiful time. Thanks for celebrating our wedding with us.

Sthevanie L.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my time here. The energy was great and both the moonshine and whiskey tasting were affordable. I highly recommend adding the whiskey tasting.

Yirel M.

Yelp
What a show- truey the staff here is fun. Yes, the moonshine is great! But what makes it an experience is the team behind the bars. A great time!

Shane J.

Yelp
Sugarlands is a fun time! If you wanna get a lil buzzed while hanging out and walking in Gatlinburg...stop in and do the sampling! The cost is $5 and the staff are super friendly! It is a total assembly line of tourists..but don't be deterred because ....guess what the moonshine is actually pretty good! I purchased a few mini-bottles (PGA and Sweet Tea) to enjoy later! Totally worth your time and the cost of entry!

Morgan G.

Yelp
This was a fun and exciting experience! $5 moonshine tasting and was well worth it! Would definitely try if you haven't!!

Sarah N.

Yelp
Definitely a must! We did 11 sample tastings which all were amazing! We had Ryan and he was very knowledgeable and outgoing. Ended up buying three bottles

Lauren S.

Yelp
Just stopped by for festive cocktails. Service was slow but pleasant. Basic but got the job done. Cocktails were yummy!

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
We entered the place and wow is this place large or what. What an awesome experience. This place is owned by Mark Ramsey and Digger Manes from the tv show moonshiners. We paid $5 per person after being carded. They told us to go to table number 2 to have a tasting. The guy providing our tasting was very entertaining. He said some of the funniest shit that had you cracking up. His rule was to put your hand over your short shot glass if you didn't want to try it, another gesture if you wanted a 1/2 fill and leave it out if you wanted it filled up. You tried 13 plus a bonus shot. He goes around quickly and fills your glasses up, and then says 1,2,3 and sips up and you take a quick shot of whatever you're drinking. Then one time he said on a count of 3 give me a Rick Flair after having the normal moonshine. He was the best and awesome overall. His name is Guage, but he said also known as the ugly brother of post malone. Everything that we tried was very good. Our favorites were the peanut butter, coffee and we ended up purchasing a bottle of the hazelnut rum which I tried at the cocktail bar outside. Damn was it very good. This place has 3 areas when you walk in. The place to the left is all about moonshine tasting. Right area is all about shopping at the store and in the back is the cocktail area. I loved this place, at this point my favorite stop.

Miss G.

Yelp
Brock was AMAZIN!!!! we had a blast with him! He wa very knowledgeable and fun. I could tell he loved his job! Thanks Brock!!!

Robert D.

Yelp
This was great, we did a tasting at Matt, our pour host, was funny and informative! We had an opportunity to taste 8 (I believe) different flavors for only $5. And your $5 was credited towards a purchase if you decided to buy some of their libations. We ended up with three different flavors plus some other drinks. Fun, entertaining, and we really liked several of their Shines. You should give it a try!

Terry S.

Yelp
Our host was excellent. Not only did she know her moonshines, but her comments and interactions with us "testers" were great. There are shines for all tastes and they come with military and first responder discounts. It's $5 per person to test and that gets applied to your purchase if you choose to buy some shine.
